The Sholazar Basin is a tropical jungle in the midst of Northrend. The weather, as well as its safety from the Scourge is safeguarded by pylons erected by the Titans.

Much like Kalimdor’s Un'Goro Crater, the Sholazar Basin is an anomaly. It fills the northwest corner of the Borean Tundra, and is surrounded by nasty ridge, requiring climbing to reach it. Those that reach the top of the ridge look down into a lush tropical jungle. Hot springs dot the basin and you have to watch out for steam vents and geysers - hot enough to cook flesh from bones in an instant if something gets caught in one. Thick vegetation fills the basin, and birds and small animals are everywhere. So are insects. It is an amazing place, and hard to believe it’s part of Northrend.

well actually the system for flying in azeroth works. ive tried private servers where you could fly in azeroth EXACTLY as you do in outland, so the system is there. wouldnt really take that much effort to just add it.

Thats not even mentioning the area between Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. If people try to fly from one continent to another, and there would be a invisible wall or something, it wouldn't make sense. Then theres also Hyjal to worry about. My best guess is that they "might" allow flying mounts in the maelstrom expansion (if theres going to be one), maybe to allow players to fly to the maelstrom.

If you're looking for a flight path, there is one in Nesingwary Base camp, but it requires the completion of before it opens up. The only other one I've found is one near the center of the map, on the east side of River's Heart (coordinates are 50,61). In order to link those two flight paths for Horde, you'll need the Lake Wintergrasp flight path- easily accessed from the Wintergrasp portal in the Horde section of Dalaran.

Almost goes without saying, but this zone is absolutely fantastic for any skinner. Probably 80% of the mobs in the zone are skinable, and all of them are over level 75, which seems to remove the possibility of skinning only scraps. One can easily acquire borean leather counts well beyond 400 in a matter of hours, especially when there are non-skinners out there questing. If you weren't 450 before you entered Sholazar, you will be when you leave it.

To get the fp's in the zone you have to do quests to open them. One is at river's heart and one is at nessingway's camp.

VERY good place to mine Saronite.

Last night, ran circles around the edge of the zone for 45 minutes, and collected:

57 Saronite Ore
33 Crystallized Shadow
30 Crystallized Earth

and that's with just Saronite nodes. (Couldn't mine the Rich ones, didn't have high enough skill level.)

But yes, this place has a LOT of Saronite in it.

There is an island at a lake here, that is a reference to "LOST" numbers, instead of 4,8,15,16,23,42 it has 5,9,16,17,24,43 so +1 :)

Rogues note that once you choose your allegiance to the Oracles or the Frenzyheart, you can stop by the opposing faction's less secured outposts (such as Kartak's Hold in the far southwest) and pickpocket around 40-50 NPCs without much opposition. Instant profit!

After doing The Etymidian quest, you get to use the waygate in Sholazar Basin any time you want to teleport to Un'Goro crater.

This can be useful for traveling betwene zones.

This also is a great place to get herbs, I've gotten a lot of adder's tongue, goldclover, and tiger lilies just from doing a few quests.

Seems like a great place to level all of the gathering professions, as i have seen several mining nodes and plenty of skinnable animals.

Sholazar Basin appears to be one of the areas where the Titans experimented with the concept of life. Completing the quest chain involving the Avatar of Freya also seems to point to the fact that Un'goro Crater is the same type of testing area(has crystals scattered around while Sholazar has crystal pillars, also has stone guardians patrolling and a Titan overlook involved in the Avatar of Freya quest was added)

Is there any other quest spots than nesingway camp, the little camp in the centrum, the tribe camps and the one with the hydras in the top?

I have one bar of 76 left and i seem to be running out of quests with only one impossible 3 player quest. I went there when i hit 76. If there is no more spots i'd suggest to everyone else to wait with going there till you are approx midways with 76.

I dont know if anyone else had trouble with this, but the only inn I've found is at the Nessingwary Base Camp . The innkeeper's name is Purser Boulian. No fp i could find at the camp, just the one in the middle of the basin.

The level of Sholazar Basin is 76-78 not 75-78 considering there are NO quests that have a requirement below 76. I trekked all the way to Sholazar to find that, to my horror, there were no quests available to me, a lvl 75 at this time... Back to the boring old Zul'Drak quests... :(

With the mining changes in 3.0.8, farming for saronite will be easy as hell... Probably the best zone to grind for ore, skins and herbs(if you don't find any other people farming... except for skins, you just can't not find beasts that are skinnable).

The best maybe Wintergrasp, with the upside with being a pvp zone, full of elementals and not be able to mount 280% speed, only 100%...

Oracles and Frenzyheart conflict is awesome, cool daily quests and some nice pre-raid/heroic rep rewards.

I really enjoyed The Lifewarden's Wrath quest series, especially the part where you portal to a previously inaccessible part of Un'Goro Crater. I finally understand why there are Stone Guardians in Un'Goro.

It's pretty cool to see the wolvar fight the other faction. Most wolvar are warriors and hunters and the murloc-like monsters are mostly shamans.

Ok, after a weekend of fishing with the addon "FishingBuddy" Here are the coastal water catch counts.
Skill was 450
Lure was +75 Bright Bubbles
Strong Fishing Rod +5
In total 530 fishing

Barrelhead Goby - 1453 Caught : 61.6%
Nettlefish - 629 Caught : 26.7%
Pygmy Suckerfish - 216 Caught : 9.2%
Reinforced Crate - 34 Caught : 1.4%
Crystallized Water - 26 Caught : 1.1%

As the sample size is in the thousands, this can be concluded that as of the current patch 3.0.8 these are the accurate percentages of COASTAL FISHING in the basin.

This place is painful to quest in, for me anyway, don't know about anyone else. No matter where I go or for what quests there is always someone there immature enough to gank me. I'm getting tired of it. I mean I'm a feral druid and I have to spend most of my time stealthed because of the endgame farming that goes on here and the lvl 80s that just kill you because you give honor. Is there any advice someone has that'll make this less of a pain?

It's just such a waste of time...

It is worth getting the flight path at Wintergrasp if you plan on using the flightpath a lot between Dalaran and SB. Otherwise it will take you about 6-7 minutes and cost a hefty amount of gold to fly between Dal and SB.

Note- The FP in Wintergrasp may not be available if you are below level 77. I'm not sure because I only entered the zone post 77

if you start around 8~8,30 am gmt+1 you can farm over 300 saronite ores and if your lucky 10 eternal earth and Shaddow. also you can get alot of titanium and other gems in around two hours

Did anyone else note that the whole basin should be filled with water by now? Follow the river from the basecamp to the sea. The river flows into the basin and all of the basin is below sea level ^^

Did someone check if there is a giant plug besides a similarly sized hole in the central lake?

To open the Frenzyheart or Oracle rep quests, you must first start by killing Pitch. Right after you do, one of the Frenzyhearts there will accuse you of killing his kill and demand that your report to his camp to be a Frenzyheart slave. Follow that questline all the way through and it'll lead to you saving an Oracle and open their questline. Go all the way to "A Hero's Burden" and you can then choose to be Oracle or Frenzyheart by leaving your choice alive and killing the other during the fight.

BTW, if you missed the Frenzyheart trying to make you a slave during the killing of Pitch during the "Part-time Hunter" quest, just go kill him again.

This place is lovely actually. There's loads of quests to be done here! And most of them are funny! And the Enviroment is very nice. Just start the quest in dalaran: Where in the World has Nesinwary Gone? U will be sent to Sholazar Basin in a Gyrocopter. U will be shot down by the Venture Co. When u land u will meet a Dwarf hanging by his parchute stuck in a Tree. He will give u a Quest that directs u to Nesinwary's Camp. There you can begin tonnes of other Quests! And ofc, when Nesinwary is in Sholazar Basin, He's looking for the Large Preys! You Can actually get the big quest reward at the end of the Hunter quests without a group, but a funny Vechile Quest to hunt a mighty proto drake! You Can also continue questing by doing a Quest to hunt a tiger. The Tiger is surrounded by the Wolvar of the Frenzyheart Tribe. Once you slay it. They get angry! And from that moment, you are a "Slave" For the Frenzyheart Tribe.
Notice: Once you finish Playing along, you get unfriendly with the Oracles. But dont worry about that... Do All the Quests they have to offer you, until you get till Just following Orders. Then you will have to rescue a Gorloc Rainspeaker or as the frenzyheart call them: Big Tounges. When you rescue it, notice that you turn to hated with the Frenzyheart Tribe. Do NOT approach the frenzyheart hill! The Wolvar Guards have well over 50k hp, and they deal heavy damage! They also attack you if you are flying in range of their bows. And it hit me for 1,4k. Now you will start to quest for the Oracles instead! Until you get to a quest to kill a lich! And he has captured two familar creatures. An Oracles Gorloc and a Frenzyheart Wolvar. You will proably need a group to slay him. But during the fight, the Lich shields by using the two fellas, to break the shield, you must choose a side, kill the creature of the opposing faction you intend to ally with. And once one of them falls, the shield is raised. And you can begin doing daylies for them, and buy fancy items. Sholazar basin awaits you!

Anyway, as it happens not all the Nerubians are part of the Scourge, any more than all humans or all orcs are. The Nerubian king was scourged and some of his people; the remainder still live underground and fight against the Scourge.

I can't find anymore quests.

I haven't been to this zone in months. I've done 55/75 quests, but I can't remember which. I want to do the frenzyhart (currently neutral) and then oracle factions. I've covered the zone inch by inch and can't find any quests available. The last quest that I completed was Reclamation.

Any ideas how I can find the uncompleted quests and start the faction grinding chains?

Sholazar basin has a lot of easy/quick quests. :) I was lvl 77 when i first entered it, and it lvled me 2 lvls in 1 day! Lots of grinding quests since there's the Hemet Nesingway quests. I usually hate grinding but I actually had a good time. :)

Also lots of chains with the 2 factions; the Frenzyheart tribe and the Oracles. You start the chain with a woman standing outside her tent near the fp point in River's Heart. She asks you to kill a black lion named "Pitch." If you read it, its easy 2 find him. You see him surrounded by 3 Frenzyheart men, you kill him, and the middle man makes you HIS SLAVE 4 jaking is kill. (lol)

(WARNING: Starting the Frenzyheart chains will make you hated with the Oracles.)

And you just follow the quests until they make you switch factions: You will be friends with the Oracles and hated with the Frenzyheart.

As far leveling goes this is the best area for skinners / herbalist / finding elemental stuff! Eventually you have to kill this one animal and you can pick to be the FrezzyHearted Tribe i would suggest be them first there is a cheap 30min buff that will help you lvl and if your looking for achievements (a lot) then do that then once you get the frezyhearted to exalted and have done 12 of the daily quests once switch and grid oracle rep with a egg that drops rare stuff so in the long run lvl here lol

Frenzyheart quests
I started the frenzyheart quests at lvl 79 to get to 80 and when i got to 80 i dropped the quest i had in the middle of the quest line and dropped the item that is given you to summon the quest giver. i now want to continue the quest line to get rep with the oracles and get the green drake. Anyone know how to continue the quest chain and get the item back. please help

100% best teritory for miners while leveling, especially if you can fly in Northrend...got ~450 saronite ore in 1,5 hour...there's plenty of it, and also titanium ore - during that time got ~100 of it. The bag was full of gems, eternal earth/fire/water/air/shadow, saronite and titanium.

A useful tip for miners: to keep as much space as possible in your bag, don't forget to turn your crystallized earth/fire/water/shadow/air into eternal earth/fire(...) time after time...In this way you'll use 10 times less bag slots for those earth/fire(...).

Would like to add that if you like the music in the area, check out Kitaro. The zone's audio seems heavily influenced by this new age artist from the late 80's. There are times in Sholazar I could swear I'm listening to Crystal Tears. This, for me, is totally awesome.

I leveled here from 76 to 78.
It's a great place to be due to the graphics of the jungle you will find waterfalls and strange trees every hour you spend here. The Nessingwary quests takes a loads of time, but gives a loads of XP
Strongly recommend to lvl here!

I would recommend first to go there in level 76 not 75 there is no quest for level 75.
