Duo'd as a Protection Paladin and an Enhancement Shaman in mostly Sunwell gear.

Has a Punt, Mortal Strike and a Whirlwind. He'll ocasionally leap to someone on threat table that isn't the tank to do his Whirlwind so watch out for that. Hit for about 2.5k on 19910 AC and "-9%" damage reduction.

Just 2 manned with Shadow priest & resto druid. There were a few close calls but we made it. Both were in pretty much full sunwell/black temple gear.

The leap followed by the whirlwind can be deadly if it catches your healer off guard (priest got hit for 5k, not sure if that was a crit however). There is more than ample time to move out of the whirlwind range if you start to move when he leaps.

Very easy to solo for a early naxx10/hc geared protadin. Never went below 75% hp, just keep Sacred up.

I don't think he's so easy to solo hits very hard as prot pally had to heal very often, used bubble, loh, pot and divine protection

Unholy DK (with tank talents): I tried this guy twice but failed, both times at around 16%. My strat was tank gear, blood presence. Right at the start blow army of the dead, dps trinkets, gargoyle and go hard nuts, as soon as army was over switch to frost presence. Cycled cooldowns, pot, death pact etc.

I think what screwed me up both times was I didn't watch closely enough for the mortal strike, I think this could be done at my gear level, which is crafted blues, three wrymrest revered pieces and two epics if you were VERY careful only to death strike when mortal strike was not up.

Anyway, I got bored of him today so I think I'll try em next week when I have better gear.

Solo'd as Shadowfrost (0/21/50) DK with mostly Naxx25 gear. Used a combination of Death Strike spamming, tanking CDs as they came available and a bit of kiting at the end when I got low. Had to Death Pact and use a pot, but did NOT use AOTD (it was still on CD from Carnage).

The Fate Rune buffs from the Bone Witch are invaluable for soloing these quests.

As a prot pala I soloed all quest except the last one. The only one that was somewhat of a challenge was Sigrid Iceborn.

Seal of Light
Judgement of Light
Blessing of Sanctuary
Righteous Fury
Shadow res aura when needed. Otherwise Ret or Dev aura.

Keep JoL on the boss all the time.
Keep Divine Plea on yourself, important. Sacred Shield can also be useful.
Make sure that Holy Shield is active at all times, very important.
Shield of Righteousness prio one when it comes to damage.
Don't forget to Cleanse when necessary.

My stats are not especially impressive: 26k hp, 36% dodge, 25% block, crit immune.

Solo'd as BM hunter with Ninja (my turtle) as pet.

This is the most tough fight in the quest line for a hunter to solo, I had to use all my stamina gear, flask, scroll and food buff for both me (hp 31k) and my pet.

The key is to kite the boss by letting the boss beat the turtle for a while, then distracting shot, let the boss get to me and then feign death so the boss have to run back at the turtle.

Even that mend pet was up all the fight poor Ninja still died once but I managed to get him back and didnt had to use pots during the fight.

It wasnt easy to down this Elite, I think i might have tried to do it 7 or 8 times.

This is going to be boring, but same procedure as the 2 before:

Easy soloable as Druid (look the Carnage! quest for specc and gear): Use HoTs before you start the fight, use barkskin when possible, keep up lacerate, mangle, demo roar and faerie fire and just kill him. This time I used Berserk & Survival Instincts, but don't really know if it was really needed. Frenzied Regeneration though was needed.

Solo'd by lock with almost full nax25man gear. You need to be Affliction.
what you have to do is play with demonic circle teleport. Summon your circle exacly at 30.31 at the edge of the platform.
When the fight start dot the boss up and run, teleport your self to the platform, he will to the round, and when he gets close, jump down. Repeat it 10-15 times and u'r done.
Simple yes, easy no...i died 5 times. Be very carefull, always coruption up, and when u have time haunt and drain life. one mistake and ur dead, he can 2 shot you easily.

This one was actually somewhat difficult to solo as an 80 Enhancement Shaman. I ended up using Fire Elemental Totem and had some help from a friendly Horde (I'm Alliance) Priest who chucked a few Holy Fires at him. I think the biggest thing was he leaped at the priest before starting Whirlwind everytime, which meant that I had plenty of time and space to stay away until Whirlwind ended. He ended up killing me at the end, just as I killed him, but that's because I wasn't watching my health and used a Maelstrom lightning bolt instead of a heal.

It should be noted that Searing Totem acts as a valid target for his leap, but he can't kill it with his whirlwind. With proper positioning, it's possible to avoid whirlwind completely as a shaman.

The only difficult part about this is really getting punted for 3k and then an unlucky crit for 6k when you land. Keep yourself topped off and it's just a longevity fight.

Soloed as a tankadin. 540 defense, 29.5k health, 40% dodge+parry, 25k armor
Bubbled when I got down around 10k health, and then healed myself up to around 23k or so. HoW came up right after that, so he was mostly dead by that time. I did not have to LoH either. When he does WW, jump away and you can save yourself a little damage.

anyone know if this quest is bugged? I just did the last four and after I handed in Battle at Valhalas: Carnage! Geirrvif did not offer any more quests, any help would be appreciated.

As a T10 Shadow Priest, I managed to solo the first four.

This guy however... HURT ME... Bad

Can't locate any help from people in the zone.. I'm sad, want to finish...

Soloed as 80lv Ele Shammy in T9/T10 Gear. 22K HP

Killed him after 5 tries. Its very tactic-wise... one fault and you are dead. I like this fight as very challenging.

Tactics:

Earth Elemental for tanking.
Searing totem to nuke him constantly.
Healing totem to help with heals.
Grounding totem to eat his Punt.
---

Keep your Elemental alive (which means to heal a lot, I healed him for 100K HP).
Keep Flame Shock ticking, Searing totem Nuking and Lava Burst/LB him.
Try to avoid aggro... if you aggroed, Wind Shear Thane.
If he leaps and Punt your Grounding totem, refresh it.
Run away from WW.
And keep Elemental alive till the end!

If you are patient enough, you get him down very easy. Dont try to nuke him at the end of the fight... my Elemantal died when Thane was about 30K HP, and he still managed to kill me (leaped on me, threw me in the air, crited me twice and WW).

This guy basically has two abilities that affect you: punt, which does damage and throws you up into the air; and whirlwind, which does damage.

If you want to solo him, kite him around. You can avoid most of the punts and easily avoid the whirlwind because you will always be moving enough to move out of it before any damage is done. Keep hacking away at him and let any dots or other abilities keep ticking.

Soloed by a blood DK in phase 1.

Not sure what Blizz did with the design of this boss over the others in this quest line, but Thane was designed to not focus aggro on your pet. Even any slight damage by you will pull aggro from your pet and have him jump right on you. This is where my solo adventure ended as a Demo Lock.
