An efficient way to complete this is to escort Father Kamaros to safety by doing the quest I'm not dead yet!. You'll be jumped by a number of ghouls and the shards drop quite often.

There's a good sprinkling of the Spiked Ghouls in the Sanctum of Reanimation, a cave immediately below everyone's favorite death knight quest giver.

It's possible that this questline is a reference to Brandon Sanderson's "Mistborn" series, wherein the henchmen of the villain get additional powers from spikes that had been driven through their bodies.

i dont know if they changed the DR since the new patch but it was 100% for me

if you not have done the quests of Darkrider Arly

then the quest item WILL NOT DROP after you dont her quests

and you have get Spill Their Blood then the ghoul start drop

DROP IT WITH each time you kill one spike one

For what it's worth. I was stuck at 132/140 quests and was trying to find what I was missing. I thought I had missed the Jagged Shard quest, and killed about 20 or so Spiked Zombies, without it dropping.

However, I hadn't started the quest Spill Their Blood and whilst I was doing it, the Jagged Shard dropped (first kill no less).

Might mean that the Jagged Shard only drops on that quest (or might have a hidden pre quest).

There's an escort quest that starts at 31,64. Talk to the npc there to start a very easy escort. Nothing really attacks him as he moves along. I.e no spawns along the path - just whatever mobs are already around but there are quite a few of the spiked ghouls off to the side. Just attack any you see while you're escorting him, loot them and you'll get this quest done at the same time as the escort.

Its not listed but this quest gives 250 argent crusade rep. The ghouls seem to always drop the shards also.

Currently bugged. Can only pick up 1 at a time, even though the quest states 10 required. And due to only being able to pick up one, you cannot turn in the quest.

You recall seeing similar shards embedded in the bodies of all the ghouls you've encountered at the Fleshwerks, leading you to wonder why their creators bothered to include the metal at all. Perhaps Crusader Olakin Sainrith would have some insight if you brought him the shards from several ghouls.
