Fairly straight forward, clear the bears around the Den, talk to Tur Ragepaw, chose what role you want him to assume and let the show begin.

For my BM hunter (wearing quest green/blues), I asked Tur to assume the role of healer, which turned him into a treeform druid. His lifeblooms and my mend pet was more than enough to keep my pet alive while I burned through Ursoc's roughly 200k hp. Engaging Ursoc will also release a small sludge called Blood of the Old God, which will give you a rather annoying debuff when it reaches you. The debuff will occasionally stun you and deal a small amount of damage.

I would like to add also that i manage to finish the quest like 10 min ago.
It was no longer bugged to me and could "recruit" the fulborg druid to help me.
Being a feral druid i asked him to heal me during the fight and it was a pretty easy quest. Totally salable if you can hold some high damage (like a prot warrior or a paladin etc) and using the npc to heal you.
I guess that if you are a healer class u can use the npc to tank maybe.

Soloed as a lvl76 feral druid with 21.2K HP and 27K armor. I asked Tur Ragepaw to become a healer and she kept lifebloom on me at all times. Not even once did my health drop below 90%

Pretty easy quest and a nice change from what used to be those NPC assisted quests. Kudos to Blizzard for that one :)

Also worth noting to complete the quest you just need to use the item on the corpse, regardless weather or not you got credit killing him. Makes it a little easy for those flying solo.

Northern Hospitality at Silverbrook is the starting chain for Alliance, you might need to do the quests at Amberstill Lodge aswell but Im not completely sure.
I had already done the quests at Amberstill Lodge before I did the quests at Silverbrook so I wouldnt know.

Soloable as a ret paladin/dps warrior or any tank. Just tell Tur Ragepaw that you need a healer. Takes a little longer but its easier than finding a group. Did it as a ret paladin, used my LoH once because for some reason Tur was a bit late on the heal and I was getting low. Also have seen priests/shamans/paladin healers solo this, tell Tur you need a tank and just heal him. Simple fight

To unlock this quest, you have to do all of the following.

First, complete these quests from Lieutenant Dumont:

Local Support
Close the Deal
A Tentative Pact
An Exercise in Diplomacy

That will unlock Northern Hospitality from Sergei and Wolfsbane Root from Katja which lead to Test of Mettle, Words of Warning and Escape from Silverbrook.

Completing these will take you back to Amberpine Lodge. You can now do A Swift Response. Don't forget to loot Vladek and the Silverbrook Hunters after you kill them, they drop Mikhail's Journal.

After doing all these, quests from Hierophant Thayreen should be unlocked. She stands next to the flightmaster in Amberpine Lodge.

Now, you need to do the following quests in order to unlock the one we're after.

A Dark Influence
The Failed World Tree

Completing both of these unlocks:

Children of Ursoc
A Possible Link

Completing both of these unlocks:

Vordrassil's Sapling
Vordrassil's Seed

And voilá, you should now be able to accept Ursoc, the Bear God

First of all, you need to talk to the Furbolg at 51.6, 24.1
Then walk into the cave just beside him, you'll meet the bear there...
Simply kill Ursoc, and then use Purified Ashes of Vordrassil on him.

Done, now go back and deliver the quest, and get your experience and reward

A small plus for warriors to make this even easier... you can spell reflect the attack from the "Blood of the Old God" adds. Just wait until they're a few feet from you, pop reflect, and they'll pretty much blow themselves up.

Not only can you easily solo this quest but you can walk on in part way through someone elses fight and after the bear dies sprinkle the ash to get the credit.

When i was doing this quest I just walked on in with the whole caved cleared by some horde, and helped them do the last 20% or so and then /bow /thank and off i went. Easiest quest ever and some hot loot to boot.

Yea, indeed this quest can be solo-able. I m a prot warrior lvl 74 19,3k hp and i have chosen Tur Ragepaw as a healer. Slow death i agree but still, i have finish it with more then 85% hp on. The fight took about 4-5 min max but definetly worth the trouble for a fast xp. I recommend solo for all the tanks with a decent gear.

Definitely soloable, but I found an odd bug (I think it was a bug) when I did this on my hunter. Near the end of the fight my pet died, so I had it use Heart of the Phoenix to get back up. Intimidation to get aggro back to my pet, Feign Death to get Ursoc off of me... only to die a few seconds later because apparently Tur (playing the role of healer) had despawned when I feigned, as though I'd actually died and he was resetting.

When I got back to my body some Horde were getting ready to kill Ursoc, so I just helped them out, completed my quest, and went on my way.

Why is she pale and unseeing when you turn the quest in? Was she somehow affected by Ursoc's death, or was she just coincidentally having an out of body experience, which a lot of people in WoW seem to do?

Definitely soloable as a tank, even with crappy quest gear. Just let the furbolg heal you. Did as a lvl 75 pally tank. Whole fight took 4 minutes. Furbolg was healing for 450 per second, enough to keep up with Ursoc's 463 dps on me.

There's nothing easy about soloing this quest as a Balance Druid. At least with my gear and spec.

Tried it 3 times and died 4.

First two times as the NPC tanking, I wasn't aware I could heal him.

Second time, I got him to like 40% and was out of mana completely (potted and innervated). It's hard to keep up moonfire and insect swarm and dealing with the spawns. Drains mana like a bitch. Also you need to be out of moonkin the whole time because you need to heal so that doesn't help. I didn't find much time to DPS Ursoc. I also think my DoTs were being dispelled somehow, by the spawns or something Ursoc does.

Third time I made the NPC heal; I stayed in moonkin this time. He kept me up till Ursoc got to 20% health, and ran out of mana. I died, and ran back and he was still fighting Ursoc. I rezzed and should have healed the NPC but I DPS'd Ursoc and died when he was like 8%. :(

Eh, well, i havn't done this quest yet, considering i'm only 72 now. But, just so my eyes dont decieve me, I can get Leggings of Forceful Purification and Bulwark of the Tormented God both? I mean, as a tank, this is the first time in WOTLK besides the Coldara quests that I get two pieces of tanking gear... especialy amazing ones, let alone in one quest! Also, as a protection paladin, is this loneable? I hear hunters have their pet tank and they lone him. If so, how would I do this? I understand you can have "Tur" be a healer... but this would take forever for me to dps him down if I do have to lone him.

Did this as a 76 mage with a 76 rogue. Set the druid to heal, kept us up for almost all of the fight then stopped healing when ursoc had around 19k left. The rogue died and I busted out my water elemental/ice blocked then ran in circles. The water elemental managed to kill ursoc when I had 300 HP left. It was very close!

I tried once solo as a 75 Blood spec Deathknight. With Frost Presence, Elixir of Major Agility and Elixir of Major Armor on I have 13.5k health and 18k armor, 1800 AP, 214 Hit rating, and 23% Crit...

I wasn't getting beaten on too badly, my health was going down slowly enough... but Tur Ragepaw was spamming heals like I was a level 45 Mage... blew through all of his mana before I was even half done DPSing on Ursoc.

My life expectancy without heals was predicably short...

The Quest Isn't so hard at all, First What I did was Cleared the bears at the Entrance before talking to the NPC In ropes to avoid stalling once the event starts, As a 75 Tank I chose the Healer and we proceeded to the Bear God. In Further help to anyone else that is Going to Solo as a Tank, Trust the NPC healing you. I personally let the Adds attack the NPC seeing how much effort it will take to get them If you are Soloing. His lifebooms usually tick around 700 and Nourish was about 6k - He kept me very well healed through the fight and At the end he ran a Little short on Mana and I used Shield Wall. Hope this helps to all Tanks out there That are going to Solo

I managed to solo this quest as a 77 Affliction Warlock.

With Tur Ragepaw as a healer, I managed to drain/tank Ursoc down with minor difficulty (in T6 gear). I kept CoE up, cast Haunt immediately after it healed, kept the remainder of my DoTs up to the best of my ability and spent the rest of the time using Drain Life. Would alternate between Life Tap and Dark Pact (on Imp) to maintain mana levels.

If he goes moonkin, he does a LOT of damage, but also gets LOTS of aggro. Once he gets hit he goes down in about 3-4 hits.
But, if you let him heal, he hardly gets any aggro. When in doubt, let him heal :)

(easily soloable as 76 demo warlock. Put up CoWeakness and Corruption, just keep healthfunnel going and shoot the blobs before they reach any of your "party")

A great way for tanks to build xp fast is solo Ursoc but dont scatter the ashes. Instead go back to Tur Ragepaw and speak to him again. 20 000xp each kill.

Just tried to solo as a 78 shadow priest, first through me healing, then through the furbolg healing me whilst I DPSed. First method failed utterly, and I got him down to around 90k before the Tree ran out of mana, and shortly after, I ran out of health.

Neat Trick for Soloing it

If you are a tank "soloing" this with an NPC healer, don't give up if you die.

As a 74 prot warrior I tried this and the NPC healer just ran out of mana to keep me alive so I died. When I went back to my body the fight was still going so I rezzed and ate up. The healer was still out of mana so I didn't stay alive long. Died, rezzed again and the fight was still going on. The 2nd rez he was down to about 10% and was defeated without any heals.

Rather trivial event at this level, but I admit the 31,450 exp was nice.

Failed miserably 3 times trying to solo Ursoc as a 75 shadow priest, tried Tur as a tank one time and as dps two other times. I keep getting interrupted by the Old Gods debuff whenever I try to heal Tur. Any tips?

I cant belive I just solod this as a Blood Spec'd DK using Frost Stance.
I asked the furbag to be the healer. He almost lost me toward the end up I pulled myself back up and finished Ursoc off. Took over 2 mins for the fight tho..
I also have only 3 or 4 blues and rest was quest greens.. Only have 12k health..

Just a hint if you are in PvE server with some members of opposing faction nearby (or fear that there are idiots of your own faction around): Do not loot him until you've used the quest item. I had to solo this twice because the first time I did it I looted and some random horde passing by skinned the Ursoc while I was trying to locate the ashes from my bag. Obviously followed by childish spam of emotes.

Tried this as a 79 Ret paladin. It's impossible. Either the dude was buffed, tur was nerfed, or people are lying.

The tree runs out of mana FAST and overheals like a s.o.b. blowing 5K heals when you are at 99% life.

The bear crits quite often for almost 4,500 damage (with his chomp armor debuff), and he chain stuns. a couple of lucky crits when you desperately need a heal = done deal.

I was able to bring him down to 25%, but at that point I only got occasional heals from the tree as he regened mana. but the stuns coupled with crits and the debuff killed me bad. put on healy gear i acquired and tried with him as tank, but it was pointless.. went OOM in a hurry and the tank doesn't do enough damage.

As a level 77 full prot warrior with blue gear, I had not trouble soloing this quest. Just asked the pnj to heal and I was done. Obviously that was a bit long to do, but other than that no real problem.

Which is quite awesome given the quest reward !

DPS Clothies might have a harder time handling this as they cannot tank nor heal.

If you are soloing this as a healer class and tanking the boss while healing yourself, choose the tank ally instead of dps. The dps version will run out of mana and be useless for the rest of the fight, the tank will actually do more damage than the the dps over a longer fight.

Soloed this guy level 76 DK Blood, Used the trapped Furblog as a healer. It was cake walk, You dont have to watch your health unless it gets to low but other than that just pound away at him.The furblog heals you pretty darn well.

This quest sucked on mage. You have no way of healing him if he's in tank form. Resto tree form worked best, just kinda kited him. There was a hordey next to me that needed Ursoc too, so we kinda helped each other out but we barely made it.

I'm going to go against the trend and say that I found this quite straightforward as a well geared level 78 holy priest, asking Tur to go in as a bear.

He really doesn't take too much damage, so don't panic and spam heals. Focus on mana regeneration, and trust that he can take a couple of big hits without causing much panic.

The only real trouble was making sure to kill the sludges as soon as possible, because the stun is a real pain. But even when I did get stunned, Tur didn't seem to be in too much danger. I tossed the odd renew up him but relied almost entirely on gheal to top his health up. Tossed the odd Holy Fire up when I could afford to.

Okay, my gear is good enough that the reward wasn't an upgrade. But if your mana regen is good enough, you should give this a shot. I'd really like to see some other healers post here to say how they went, as a counter to the long list of tanks and pet classes who all got Tur to heal.

I went through the long 5 minute solo fight with the Furbolg healing me... and then I forgot to use the ashes. Flew back to the druid, and wondered why the heck I couldn't hand in the quest.

So, this was a fun challenge, but in the end i didnt win *pout*

I am a 78 boomkin, in pretty standard quest reward greens/blues, so im an average sort. After reading the posts here, i thought piece of cake.... yea, not quite.

Tried the "I'll dps, Tur heal" a couple of times. The healing is just weird from the tree and I usually get whipped too many times and die at about 70%.

Tried the "Tur tank, I'll heal" - worked fine until I ran out of mana.

Tried the "Ill tank, Tur heal" - this probably would have worked if I had feral gear. Just walked in a backwards circle (to avoid the little shadow things) spamming Demo Roar and Lacerate. Worked fabulously but the tree heals me fine then stops and I die.

In the end, a big group of Hordies came up, so I assissted and completed the quest by them killing it lol.

The tree and even the bear are very self reliant, if you die, just keep running back, they are usually still there fighting.

If you walk Ursoc around you can avoid alot of the explosions.

Oh also: the bears around the mouth of the cave have a 50% drop rate for Chilled Meat - woot!

If you're a tanking class and you are having problems you probably need to put on your shield and start blocking (if applicable).

At lvl 78 with the Savage set from blacksmithing and spec'd Fury I was able to hold my own in defensive stance while the tree healed me up. Took a while, but was a piece of cake.

I solod as a level 77 DK. I am speced unholy but I asked the guy who is supposed to help you to heal for me. I was able to kill the bear after five mins. The NPC healer is as good as any 80 druid in blues. Just watch his mana.

Done as a 77 Elemental Shaman.

I asked Tur to assume his bear form and tank.

One main thing to note during the fight: The small vines that are summoned by Ursoc will deal damage to Tur massively if you don't kill them or aggro them to attack you instead. I kept Flame Shocking and Lava Bursting whenever it was up all while healing Tur. Tur himself doesn't take much damage from Ursoc, only the adds that spawn do.

Edit: Update!

I also finished this quest as a 75 Protection Warrior. This time I asked Tur to become the Tree and heal. Ursoc hit me for roughly 300-500 damage, which was absolutely nothing. Tur cast Lifebloom periodically on me when I got below 70% health. He stayed above 80% mana during the entire fight. The key to defeating Ursoc is actually the small oozes that spawn randomly and regularly throughout the fight. You will be able to see them pretty easily and even easier if you have nameplates on. If you can stun or protect Tur from taking damage from the vines, he will easily be able to heal you throughout the fight.

Remember, the key is about the adds, Ursoc himself is a pushover. The Ooze cast a DoT for shadow damage and has a chance to periodically stun you for 1 second. If you get hit by one it's not the end, just don't let them keep hitting you over and over.

Couldn't solo this as lvl 75 blood spec dk. Tried 6 times with the NPC as healer, DPS and tank, twice each. Failed miserably. I used every healing asset available to me, and still I couldn't get the bear below 50%. I blame the adds. They stun 100% of the time (or at least they did for me) and those precious few seconds each time were wasted.

I'm trying again at level 77. Just fair warning for those of you who are reading previous comments and think you can solo this at level 73: Make sure you have GOOD gear and you are pro at your class before attempting it. If you can do it, my hat's off to you.

EDIT: "Solo'd" at level 77 using the NPC as healer. It wasn't easy, but I did it. Worth the gold and xp, even if your gear is better or you can't use the shield.

I soloed this as a 73 DK tank ( deep ice setup), took about 8 minutes, but that's really an easy fight.
I just tanked him like I would tank any dungeon boss. I asked the druid Npc to be healer.
I used pestilence + howling blast to kill the adds, no problems at all with these.

I'm pretty sure any other tank could be fine to solo this fight.

Soloed as a 79 Disc Priest.

I had him tank and I dpsed for a while while keeping renew on him and occasionally healing him.
Once I went oom I popped shadowfiend and just focused on healing him. Only took about 8 minutes.

I used the valentine's candy and an elixir of draenic wisdom for buffs. real easy

Just soloed this as a 76 disc priest. I chose the npc to be tanking and I had no problems keeping him alive by casting a penance whenever he went below about 60% hp. If your crit rate is not too low (mine was at 26% holy spells) you will proc alot of divine aegis and you shouldn't have any mana problems at all, I ended the fight at around 40% mana without using shadowfiend or inner focus.
Stand at max range and most of the blobs will go to the tank. The ones that do come towards you can be killed with 1-2 smites.

The only problem was after Ursoc died he despawned after less than a second so I didn't have time to run up and use the ashes. Next attempt I ran up to him when he was almost dead, cast shadow word: death and spam clicked the ashes. Quest complete :)

This *is* possible to solo as a 77 resto druid in tree form in quest greens and a few dungeon blues.

I have (self buffed) around 11k health, 11k mana, 785 spellpower and 139 mp5 in combat, so take those stats as a rough idea of what you'd need to try this successfully. Have Tur use bear form. The fight for me lasted about nine minutes, in which I used one innervate about four or five minutes in. I was nearly oom at the end, so a mana pot might be advisable in case your fight lasts any longer than nine minutes. Just keep a full stack of lifebloom rolling at all times and keep up rejuvenation. I found the damage in general was fairly steady, although there were a few bigger hits that needed a regrowth or swiftmend and a single time where I used my nature's swiftness / healing touch macro.

Ignore the Influence of the Old God slimes, and just toss a lifebloom or two on yourself if you start to lose a lot of health from them. If you're patient and keep your cool, you should have a dead Ursoc. Good luck!

I soloed as lvl 75 holy priest. I was skeptical after reading all the posts, but it was not too hard. I don't consider my toon uber-geared - half kara epics and half Northrend blues.

If you are a priest, here were my stats after I used a full set of pots, food, etc:
HP = 10k
Mana = 12k
Mana regen outside of 5sec = 608
Inside five sec = 205
Spellpower = 1210
Crit = 12.5%
Holy Crit =17.5%

So, ask Tur to go bear - he will tank and DPS for you. Use items that give you spirit or mana per 5. Heal like you would in a raid - measured heals as needed, using all your mana management tricks. It lasted about 8-9 minutes for me.

The only real problem with the fight was to heal through the attacks of the little blood blobs ("Blood of the Old Gods"). Especially if you get two at a time. Once once spawns, it gives you a 10 sec debuff that stuns you every 3 secs or so for 1 sec (about). It will interrupt your heals, so you have to use fast ones. The blobs also do some moderate damage, maybe 3k per hit, so you have to keep yourself healed. I found that it took too long to kill the slimes myself and risked Tur dying - so I just ran away from them and kept healing. The trick is when the debuff comes out, hit renew then start spamming flash heals on Tur. If you try greater heals, you'll get stunned before you get them off. If I got too close to the blobs, and they hit me, I used a binding heal to top us both off. I sweat the most when two blobs spawned - they seemed to have overlapping stuns. Tur got down to 100 hp at one point... in my first fight.

Yeah, that's right. I killed him the first time, but did not use the ashes in time. Doh! Body vanished in like 20 seconds. Had to rinse and repeat.

Dunno if this quest has changed since I completed it on my warrior the first week of the xpac. I had a terrible time trying to complete this quest on my 75 ret paladin as opposed to when my 75,76 prot warrior did. Both the paladin and warrior then were in quest greens.

First, had him play the resto healer like usual. righteous fury up. tanked the bear standing close to the druid so that way my consecration would hit the oozes before they could hit him(combined with hand of reckoning also). Range on the stun got us both and I ended up dying before the npc could get me back up. Chalk that one up as my fault for forgetting how large the stun radius is.

Second try...again using resto healer form. Righteous fury up and pulled the bear away from the npc and planned on only using hand of reckoning on any oozes that went for him. I dunno if the AI is screwy or what cause when he stopped healing(cause I was at full hp) he runs up to the bear and starts to melee. which eventually lead to us both being stunned by the oozes and the npc not able to get a heal off before I died.

Any suggestions?

Solo'd this as a 76 kitty druid... it was freakin hard and i died 6 times! I just ran back to the boss from the GY and kept attacking... I got Tur to be "healer" but he ended up being heals, tank and dps (just like a real druid!).

Not the easiest of fights, would have been easy with 2 people i expect.

Just did this quest today, don't know if they've changed it since, but when I attempted I had a lot more troubles than the comments suggested.
As an enh shaman, I ran in and used both feral spirits and earth elemental while he healed, Elemental couldn't keep aggro and within not too long I had died, the druid held it for about 30 seconds as I ahnked and ate, but by the time I was back in the druid was dead. Didn't seem to be the same survivor as suggested. (luckily, as I rezzed a horde group had just finished, so I leeched off of their kill :P)

Has this quest been changed since?

With dual specs, this was a lot nicer to do. I went to resto form and let him tank. Kept lifebloom and rejuv up on him, letting lifebloom bloom if he got low on health, and watching for swiftmends. He never got below 50% health. It took a long time, but healing ended up being the better path. I just ran around in circles trying to avoid the adds, but I was usually stunned. When there would be adds up I would just make sure I had a rejuv on myself to counter the damage.

Guild mate asked me to help him with this. Him (L77 Arms Warr.) and me a 76 Prot tank. He choose Tur Ragepaw as a tank or DPS (no sure really)...bad idea. We wiped, Ursoc is pretty tough. Reset, choose healer option for Tur. Went better this time. I tanked, guild mate DPS'ed and Tur healed. Niether one of us was below 80% health at any time. Only issue was the fight took "forever"! Finally beat the bear and cruised out of there. Tur Ragpaw, healer option - the only option.

Tough Fight, don't let these blow hards convince u otherwise. Almost impossible as a dps class/spec in quest gear. Solo'd as a 75 Ret paladin after 7 attempts, best way was too have him heal, and heal yourself when needed.

Had him down to 12%, but the bear can't hold aggro.

Tried a second time with me as frost and him as the healer, spamming ice barrier at every cooldown as well as using Mirror image and icy veins/cold snap.

Soloed as a 75 elemental shammy, mostly blue gear but a few greenies.
The fight took a while, but i got it done.

First i tryed Tur as a tank, and off heal him = didnt work

Second i tryed Tur as a healer, and i would go full dps = as other posted went fine, untill he went oom. Then i died pretty quickly.

Third i tryed him as a dps = Wont even comment on that xD

So at last i tryed him as a healer again because thats was the best try that i'd had.
Popped everything i got, made sure to use Thunderstorm for a little extra dmg, but mostly to help me keep up my mana. And ofc water shield up at all times. When Tur went oom, i just made sure, that i could heal myself for enough time to Tur taking over again, remember to dps a little here to.
It took me 5-6 minutes, but it was worth it. :)

Hope this helps other shammys out there, in trouble.

If you are a tank or DPS class and somehow die, and the NPC is a tree, he can withstand a ton of punishment. You'll have time to run back. I actually died twice and had time to run back and kill Ursoc to complete the quest.

Solo'd as level 78 ret paladin in green/blue quest gear, wasn't too easy as some people said, but here's how to do it.

Make the NPC heal, use seal of light on yourself and judge him with wisdom, make sure to keep the bear in melee range of the NPC as this will get the NPC back some mana as he does melee him between casts. Use art of war procs to flash heal yourself when needed, the NPC's mana will run out if he's chain casting heals. Use bubble as he gets to last 10% or so as he does a fairly nasty set of debuffs which are quite likely to kill you without it.

This was the strategy I used for 3rd attempt and it worked, got 19796 XP from this mob including 9898 rested bonus, fight took about 3 minutes.

Soloed as a 76 fury warrior in quest-tanking gear with NPC as healer. Had to use Runic Healing potion, Life blood (herbalist skill, max level) and Shield wall. Survived just barely as I finished him off with Execute (I was at such low Hp that I couldn't see the green bar). Healer didn't heal very much – maybe because of the blob-like adds which I didn't have time to figure out what they actually did. They hurt some at least and some went for the healer, but I tried to AoE aggro them etc. It's doable if you can tank.

Purge this if need be.

Go in in defense gear, and spam your aoes, excorcism, hammer of wrath.

I did this at 76 and this was literally afkable. Lifebloom and Seal of Light kept me full through the whole fight.

I had Sanctuary, R.Fury, Seal of Light, Divine Plea, and I gave the tree wisdom, why not.

Fun fight. Lets you know what you could do in an optimum duo for your class, if like me you solo mostly.

To be honest there is nothing to it.

Let Tur be healer. Buffed Tur with BoK, but BoW would have done I think.
just unleash Pala hell on Ursoc. Keep using Art of War everytime it's up. Tur will do the rest. Stuns can make you drop fast. Don;t worry about it. Next Art of War will fix that. Also try and have the stun debuff yourself and not Tur if possible.
No deaths, 1st attempt.

Hope this will make it easier for some, as I thought it wasnt that hard.

It must have been a slow day because I couldn't find a group for it but nonetheless, a 75 troll priest and 76 blood elf mage were on the quest as well so I gave them a hand. Tired it at 75 on a BM hunter and it didnt work, even with the npc on heals he wasnt regening enough mana to be effective, also tired to come back from the 1st death couldnt res pet to get it off the npc combo of server lag and the stupid curse/fear thingie. My guess is that in one of the patchs blizzard nerfed it or the mana regen didnt just affect the Players only. either way just a heads up to everyone who wants to try this

Very easy quest, but it'll take a while. Did it on a 77 prot warrior with some lower-70s blues/greens, health never dropped below 95%. Everyone is saying that Tur went into a tree form when you chose the healer option, but for me he stayed in bear form strangely, still healing. Took a few minutes to kill Ursoc still. Nothing you'd need a group for unless you wanted to go faster.

Tryed just healing him/killing slimes as holy for 2 attempts though that failed pretty bad.
Since i had duel spec i switched to ret and let him heal me. this was by far the way to go, first try i failed with Ursoc at 4% (i dident bubble in time) second time went very smooth.

Used Seal of light along with hitting judgement of wisdom whenever possable. the main thing about this boss are the slimes MAKE SURE to kill as many as you can. Since he cant be stuned save your hammer of justice for the adds whenever possable.

Just soloed as a 76 Blood DK, kept fighting as I would any normal mob but repeating over and over again obviously. Had the NPC as a healer. Fight took maybe 2.5 mins, definitely less than 3 because Mark of Blood wasn't ready to reuse once Ursoc had died.

Didn't really have any trouble with the spawns, I tried to take them out asap once they started getting close.

On a side note, I remember doing this on my druid a long time ago and having NPC as healer but I'm sure he was a tree before. This time round he was in bear form but was still healing me AND putting out some nice dps. Not sure if this was a bug or some recent patch change but it definitely made the fight very easy.

I tried this nearly 10 times before I got it, it seemed that the key was to use Lay on Hands on Tur when he needed it. That was the only thing I did differently during the fight which gave me the kill.

This really wasn't an easy quest as a mage, with lack of tanking and healing abilities.

Tur takes alot of damage in Bear form and it really would require extremely high dps to burn down Ursoc down before tur dies.

Advices:
1. Use Tur Ragepaw as healer, i soloed him as a lvl. 75 feral DPS which isn't that awesome at damage.
2. Kill all the bears around the entrance of the den before going to speak to Tur Ragepaw, otherwise Tur Ragepaw willl use a significant amount of his mana to try killing the bears that you meet until Ursoc.
If somehow you die, go back quick to the fighting scene, chances are 99% to find Ursoc and Tur Ragepaw still fighting, you go in, finish the job.
3. DON'T FORGET TO CLEANSE HIS BODY with the ashes of Teldrassil after you kill him. I forgot, skinned him, so i had to kill him again.

Soloed as a 74 ret paladin with the BoA chest, shoulders, weapons, and trinkets, and everything else was quest greens.

I had the druid be a healer, but I definitely had to help her out some on healing with Art of War procs, and I'd recommend cleansing that shadow dot off right away if you don't kill the little adds before they put it on you.

I did have to bubble once when I got stunned with the dot; nearly died. The tree will take a few big hits, but don't panic; she heals herself right back up and she won't die during the bubble.

Other than that, I didn't have to cast any heals, just the occasional art of war procs when I got low, and I pretty much just dpsed. Used judgement of wisdom for maximum dps, so I didn't even judge light to help her.

I used ret aura, king's, and seal of vengeance. Note that you may have to switch to that blessing and seal rather than the typical might/command you've probably been using to quest.

Had 11,873 health with king's, and 1900 ap.

**Note: I did try this before as holy spec also in boa gear with 13k mana, tanking with righteous fury while the druid dpsed as a moonkin (I could not keep myself up), and also with the druid tanking as a bear (despite meleeing as much as I could with seal of wisdom, the bear and I just took too much damage. I may have been able to do it, had I been able to use Beacon of Light on the druid, but because she's technically not part of your party, beacon doesn't not work on her). Ended up either dying or going oom both times, so go dps for this if you can. I think prot would work just fine, as well.

Ok my english is not so good but i'll try! :P

I soloed this quest with my Destro Lock lvl 76 and my voidwalker, and Tur as Healer
First started with Curse of Agony, Corruption Immolate, Chaos Bolt, Incinerate and Conflagrate and some times Curse of Weakness (see at your threat, try to hold it down) then hold your DoTs and use chaos bolt, incinerate etc. Remember to SEE your threat and never let your void drop down to 3000 hp because Tur can't heal him the whole time. Use your Health Funnel if u your pet need HP (i used it the whole time)

(and just use the same spells or u can use your own spell combination but i recommend to use this spell combination (If you are a Destro Lock ) More dps and low threat.

Pretty easy fight, had him as a tree obv. Generally hovered as low as 50%(right before lifebloom blooms), and as high as 75%(right after lifebloom blooms). Was never in any danger of dying.

Stayed on him 100% and didn't bother killing slimes.

Probably my imagination but I had the feeling something about the quest was changed. The slime spawns were respawning way too fast and stunning me on 40yards..very frustrating.

I remember doing it without too much trouble as a warlock, a druid and a shaman but I could not do it as a shadow priest.

Tried it with Tur as a healer first, went relatively well until Tur was oom and Ursoc had still about 60k left, he destroyed me quickly. When I ran back to my corpse Tur was holding the ground bravely but as I tried to throw him a heal he died and Ursoc resetted.

Next try was with Ursoc as tank, let us not talk about this.

I did not see any way to down him so I changed to my holy spec and tried it again with Ursoc as tank. Very frustrating experience with all the ooze spawning so fast but in the end I brought him to 4k when tur died because I was out of mana. I was then stunned by the annoying slime and 1-hitted by Ursoc.

Almost ready to give up I gave it another try and yes - killing the ooze as soon as it spawns really seems to be the only way to go if you try this as a healer. Kiting the ooze around works too but if you are doing this quest at ~ lv 74 I wouldnt risk being stunned.

Since there are no other comments about it I have to assume my memory plays me tricks but as of 3.3 this quest felt a lot harder than I remembered it (pre 3.0)

Very easy fight for asking for 3 people. Solo'd this on my 73 prot pally and only 15k health without any issues. Was mostly above 90% health. The gear was typical tanking gear from quests at that level. Get the NPC to heal and he does a good job. Was just a cycle of cons, HotR, AS, and JoW for a rather long period (5½ mins or so). Also used hand of salvation with the 20% damage decrease glyph but it was unnecessary.

If you're on the low end of the level range for this fight then you may not want to go for DPS. Go for survival. If you can avoid or mitigate enough damage then Ragepaw will keep you healed up. If you're a mana user then do what you can for mana management and whatever CDs needed for regen. For prot pallys this would be divine plea, JoW, and sanc. Pick up a runic healing potion if you feel you need it. Mine never dropped below 35%. Ret pallys would have an easier time with mana due to the 25% regen from judgments but may have to heal yourself a bit. This is where that instant-cast FoL comes in handy. If you have any tanking armor then you might want to give it a try for the stam, miti, and avoidance boost.

For ranged, he appears kiteable but not sure how the stuns will affect you.

For DPS spec DKs, keep your diseases up on him and DS plenty in your rotation. With that heal and your fallen crusader rune then you should be able to hold out and down him relatively quick (far quicker than my prot pally). Blood worms and lifetap is a big plus if you got em.

Oh yes.. I was stunned a LOT during this. I am not PVP spec'd at all so it was kinda annoying. Instant cast is a plus for this fight for sure.

Two nice rewards from this quest if you're looking for some tanking gear to do randoms.

As it isn't doable as a Mage, I've utilized a little "trick" which you can do too if you have a character capable of soloing it - I've had two (doable without anything pre-opened if you have fast enough computer) WoW programs running, one with my Mage, other staying on login screen.

I took Tur as healer, did a small damage to Ursoc, then press alt+f4 then get in second WoW, quickly sign in, log on with main (which is of course already parked at the fighting spot), wreck the bear, then an other alt+f4, an other WoW, log in with the Mage and finish the quest (have to say though I've logged back on to Mage with mob being on 5% hp to finish him off, but guess you only need the corpse to complete the quest, so no harm if you kill it on main character).

This is only working because Tur is keeping you alive while switching characters, not really doable on any other group quests.

Did this today on my 73 tankadin. I mostly had the Cobalt set, along with the Blue defense items form the nexues quest. Prety muched just sat their spamming Cincentration and HotR with the occasional Exorcism. I did get stunned alot during the fight, but Tur did keep my health up. I also put wisdom on him to help with his mana, and about at the 25% mark i check his mana(which was around at 6k atm) and just gave him LoS(for the mana givin) to be safe. Overall wasnt that bad. This quest is definitly easier if you have a shield.

I was able to solo this as a 74 frost mage, although it took me 8 tries and consumables. The following is a copy/paste from my comment on the horde equivalent quuest. (lot of good info on that page btw)

Just soloed this as a 74 frost mage in heirlooms/blues. (10k hp with scroll/food, glyphed permanent elemental)

First of all let me say this took me 8 attempts using every cooldown and consumable I could think of, and I finished the fight with under 1000 hp left. I do not recommend attempting to solo this unless you absolutely cannot find someone to group with.

That said, the strategy:

Set Tur to healer mode and /focus him so you can monitor his mana, casts, and stun status. Tur can keep you up through Ursoc's damage provided he does not oom and is not stunned. Your job is to use your cooldowns to keep yourself alive through stuns and damage spikes, not to try and mitigate overall damage to yourself. With that in mind, use health potions, Ice Barrier, Ice Block, and even Blink to survive until a heal lands. Pay particular attention to Tur's cast bar. He is a little slow to cast Nourish; you're likely to die mid-cast unless you use a cooldown.

Pop Icy Veins right off and use Ice Block for the first damage spike or stunned Tur. You will need to use Cold Snap to reset both CDs. Stand at range from Tur+elemental, to draw out his running time during Ice Blocks. I saved my second Icy Veins for when I regained aggro around 30%, but it may be better to use it immediately and try to squeeze in a third use.

Pop Invisibility at ~70%, or a little later if your cooldowns permit. Click off the buff as soon as you go invisible. Ursoc will go to your elemental, then to Tur while you re-establish aggro. Being able to cast without pushback for this portion of the fight is more or less essential in order to get Ursoc down before Tur goes oom.

Other protips:

Amplify Magic on yourself and your elemental, Arcane Int on Tur
The 5% crit reduction from Molten Armor is more important than the ~600 armor from Frost Armor. Ursoc can crit you for over 4k, which will put you in danger of dying.
When Blinking to buy time for a heal, do not Blink through Ursoc. he will turn around and keep hitting you. Instead , blink left/right or straight back, but do not range Tur's heals.
Lifeblood, if you have it, is to be used proactively. If you try to use it when you're below 2-3k, Ursoc will 1- or 2-hit you before the duration is up.
If you're carrying food buffs, scrolls, elixirs, etc, now is the time.
Use your mana gem early, so you can get a second use out of it
I think this goes w/o saying, but just in case: Ursoc is permanently immune to stuns. Therefore, Deep Freeze does $%^&loads of damage to him. Use on cooldown.

I soloed this as a 77 shadow priest. I chose to make Tur a healer.

My strategy was to just bubble, dot, and run. I repeated this and used Dispersion and Shadowfiend whenever available, Tur's heals were very good, especially since I was bubbled on every cooldown. Just make sure to avoid the blood of the old gods, as if you get stunned when they are next to you they will explode doing alot of damage.

Just keep running around in circles and DoTing him up, using trinkets and other cooldowns where applicable. Eventually it got to a point where he was at about 20% or so and both Dispersion and Shadowfiend were on cooldown, as well as my potions, so being a night elf, I just used Shadowmeld, and the aggro went to Tur who began to melee him for a bit, which gave me time to re-dot him and nuke him down the rest of the way. Tur eventually died (he was out of mana at that point anyway so he wasn't going to do me much good) and I was just barely able to kill him. Survived the fight with about 10% health left.

Make sure to use your bubble on every cd, its more important than doting as it saves you a bit of damage and allows those extra few seconds for Tur to heal you.

Also as I mentioned, I used Shadowmeld to lose threat towards the end of the fight, being that this is a night elf racial I'm not sure how other races would solo, but if you are a night elf priest, this strategy should work for you.

i just solod this as a resto shaman having the guy act as tank. used both earth and fire elementals and forgot to use heroism though it didnt really matter. even got a guy to pay me 20g for soloing it.

This was a difficult fight for a Level 73 Holy Paladin in mixed healing and fighting PvE questing/PvP epic gear. Died about 6x trying to figure the right combos and elixirs to use, but did it.

Elixir that worked was Guru's (+20 all stats for 1hr) combined with using Blessing of Kings and Seal of Wisdom. Chose Tur as a backup healer then buffed him with Blessing of Wisdom.

Put Tur on focus to watch when he's silenced and/or his mana is low. I used the Lay of Hands on him to save him and replenish some mana at the 100k HP mark, as his mana was below 500 and health below 8k (Tur will steal aggro like no tomorrow, so regain it!). Healed him a couple times as well when he was silenced, but in the end we tag teamed this bear down.

Note:Tur will only wait about a minute and go back to his staging ground which also resets about 6 bears in the area you'll have to kill along the path. So don't wait around trying to get organized, focus and buff him along the path to Ursoc.

Easily soloable as a 73 BM Hunter. Just try and kill the Blood of the Old God before it hits anything, and if it hits Tur you might need to throw the odd heal at your pet, but other than that, it's an easy fight.

I'm not sure if anyone else has already done/said this because I don't want to read through the whole freakin 107 comments lol, but I was in a Q for 30 min as a rogue before getting into the dungeon. I chose healer for the druid help and went in solo. It finally popped up with the Accept or Decline thing while I was fighting Ursoc. I entered when he was around 40k hp. We did the whole dungeon (DTK-reg) and after we were finished, I left. When I came back out of the instance, Ursoc and the druid healer were still fighting and Ursoc was at 34k hp. XD This proves how OP druid heals are even as a NPC. lmao He lasted a good 30 or 40 minutes healing himself with np and no help.

That was just stupidly easy as a 78 BM hunter. Took all of 2 and a half minutes and the druid healed my pet the whole way. Only dropped to 60% once or twice but he was quick to fix that. I was a little worried when I saw 200k health but wow, easiest 24-30g(selling rewards) you will ever make off a quest.

Soloed it as a level 76 ele shaman in 2nd attempt. On my first try I told the furbolg to tank, but he really fails at tanking. Had to spam heal and I overaggroed him really fast. In 2nd attempt I told him to heal and it indeed is op comparing to his tanking role. I popped out earth elemental to tank, but he didn't heal it so elemental died after few seconds (I didn't want to lose mana on healing the elemental so I simply didn't heal it). After elemental died I popped stoneclaw totem for shield and stonesking right after I gained the dmg absorption (I have stoneclaw totem glyphed). I repeated it everytime stoneclaw was off cd to make it easier to heal for the furbolg. Popped heroism to make the thing go faster at the end of the fight fire elemental went off cd so I called it for some extra dmg and to kill the adds. Adds are quite important coz they cast bad things to stun you or Tur thus interrupting his heals. Kept water shield on me all the time and it wasn't that hard. Probly I would've done it faster if I would've known that the furbolg won't be healing elemental.

Easily Soloed this as a lvl 73 Enhancement Shaman, Just Chose the druid to be a healer and popped wolves and fire elemental at the start, then earth elemental when the little CD finished from the fire one, fairly easy and the druid kept me full health pretty much for the whole fight

Is it better for the hunter to get the Pants of the Puried Wind rather than the mail ones.
It seems that all of the Leather stuffs from the Valiance Expedition have awesome stats for rogue + hunter, while the Mails are better suited for Shaman!

77 Shadow Priest.

Just tank him and DPS like you would any other mob, choose the tree form druid and just let him heal you as you DPS down the boss, easy as, he dosen't hit hard through shadow form.

Soloed as a level 74 paladin with ret specc and prot offspecc.

Tried first with Tur as healer, in prot gear and specc (Just over 15k hp self buffed). Tur went OOM pretty fast, though buffed with BoW, and I died. So did Tur, and I will hardly call her a capable healer like those above :P

Then I tried as ret with the tanking gear I've collected with SoL judging Light, again with Tur as healer. My DPS was rather low, and Tur again went OOM. I died, she died a few seconds afterwards.

Third attempt, went ret with ret gear and SoC judging Light (little over 10k hp). Tur again as healer. Got Ursoc to 6%, got stunned and crit, had just used Art of War procc to heal, and started healing once out of the stun. Tur I have no idea what was doing, got I crit before the heal got through and died. Again. Tur was not out of mana by a long shot, yet was dead when I returned. No, not a very long-living healer, unlike what is stated above.

Asked Tur to tank for my fourth try, and slapped on the healing gear I got while in ret specc. Used twohander for added DPS. About 800 SP and 12.something k mana. Quickly learned to keep Tur over 10k hp (seemed to be the limit of what unluck allowed) and 'DPSd' away. Went smoothly. When you get the debuff with periodical stuns, you can get through one Holy Light and one Art procc or two FoLs before you're stunned again.

TL;DR: as a paladin, do it ret specc and nuke away, healing yourself from time to time with Art of War. Unless you're unlucky that should work. If you have somewhat weak gear, are level 73 or just lazy, while you do have some healing gear, put that on and ask Tur to tank. Keep her over 10k at all cost, and 'nuke' away.

Just solo'd as a L74 Balance Druid with 10187hp & 10995 mana; and no deaths. My gear is not spectacular, lol. Used Tur as healer.

I cleared bear mobs before starting the event and followed Tur in. Threw up faerie fire on Ursoc, then used insect swarm & moonfire. Sent in treants, gave myself barksin then spammed wrath until eclipse proc then starfire & repeat. Hit both my haste & spellpower trinkets, replaced dots as they ran out, replaced barkskin as needed, wrath/wrath/starfire etc. Used innervate once and downed one runic healing potion when Tur was a little slow to heal. Also had superior wizard oil on my staff.

Really fun fight, I ended on 50% health and prolly 10% mana.

I'm not sure if it is a bug but on my first two (failed) attempts on my hunter, Tur Ragepaw would despawn whenever I set my pet to passive to reposition him. (Pet and Ursoc kept dancing out of the area!)

The Timbermaw you're looking (Tur Ragepaw) for is just outside the cave and can apparently pick a different way to help depending on what you need. Since I'm a healer I had him go in feral bear form and played DoT Ursoc and Heal da Bear, rinse, repeat. Bear God spawns some semi-wandering oozes during the fight, Holy Nova FTW.

Ursoc had ~242k hp as I recall, Tur had around 17k hp in bearform.

Tur will summon Ursoc to the fight once inside.

I ended up with a hunter and warlock helping out as well (got invited to group during the fight), not sure if they'd had bad luck with their previous fight or not.

I managed to solo this easily when the other druid was a healer. I am lvl 80 tho.

So if Knew that befor i would choose to take the other druid as a DPS insted of healer. he used 1k mana totaly.

I were a feral druid lvl 80 35k hp. that might be the reason... took me 30 secs to kill him

This quest may have been dumbed down, as I managed to solo it as a 77DK, with the NPC asa healing druid. Ursoc has just over 200k health and the fight took about 3 mins. Quest rewards were pretty useless - I already had better gear equiped, but at least I could sell it for cash :)

I managed to solo this at 78 as a Prot Paladin with Medium Difficulty.

If you are a tank class, any tank class, wait until 78 or so when the quest goes green. The rewards are still good even at that level. Or, bring a friend.

If you are a tank, ask the NPC to come as a Healer. He does his job very well, and I didn't have to use any holy lights on myself, at all. One thing you need to remember though, is that he DOES have limited mana and he can and will run out, as this is a long fight. Don't forget your DPS; go hot and heavy on him especially if you are not a Paladin (Paladins have to balance their Mana usage).

Every tank has an AoE method; I suggest using it to try and keep as many of the mobs he spawns off of him as possible, as he does spawn black mobs (slimes or mutants) that walk up to your NPC and explode (effect unknown, I didn't get a chance to see exactly what it does, I think it is a 3-second stun).

Otherwise, just burn him down, his melees don't hurt that much, and your NPC is easily capable of keeping you healed in his tree form. Just don't go too slow on the DPS, and you should do fine. My NPC ran out of mana at about 25-30k left (he has 212k) but yet he seemed to have enough MP5 to keep throwing HoTs on me, which was enough to burn him down the rest of the way, without any potion/LoH/bubble usage.

Solo's as a 75 Disc Priest. Take the bear form with you as he will be your tank. Hitting the black sludges with your wand will cause them to aggro you and not your tank so you can kite them around until they disappear. Keep at least one DoT up on Ursoc, using only your wand to damage him to save mana. I only healed the tank with Penance and Renew. Make sure to have every buff you can think of as the fight will be close. I had less than 1k mana left when Ursoc died after the LONG fight. Took three attempts with mostly greens but I assume if you have decent gear, you shouldn't have much trouble.

probably a given, but as affliction this quest was surprisingly easy, just had heirlooms and wowhead leveling talents. (fel armor, spellstone, and healthstone along with health potions) Level 77 & 1278sp while life tap buff is up.

make sure you talk to Tur Ragepaw and make him go healer.

I just kept Curse of Weakness up along with corruption, UA, and Haunt. only used SB on nightfall procs and Drain Life the rest of the time. *Just make sure not to Life Tap when he puts the 75% armor debuff on you.

the little guys died easily with corruption and agony.

probably not needed but was also slowly backpeddling/kiting around the area and after a minute or two.

DON'T skin him before you do the cleansing. He WILL despawn and you will have to kill him again. Thankfully Tar Rageclaw respawns after only a few secs so you can start over again.
Learned this the hard way :)

Hierophant Thayreen at Amberpine Lodge wants you to find Tur Ragepaw near Ursoc's Den and defeat Ursoc with his help. Use the Purified Ashes of Vordrassil on Ursoc's Corpse when you've accomplished this.
