Just solo'd as a lvl 76 warlock in my full pve gear, 26/41/0 is my spec. keep dots up, don't shadowbolt (it'll cause too much threat) and constantly health funnel, his damage is very high. Also, you'll need the latest rank if health funnel. Rank 8, which you had from 70 heals for 188 every second, where as rank 9 (obtained at level 76) heals for 520 every second). Took around 2 and a half minutes since I was able to use demonic empowerment twice but not a third.

Other magnataur seek her out for advice, assistance or temporary alliance. She has a voracious appetite, even for a magnataur, and places no limits on the sorts of things she ingests.

This Dammia might either be the former "version" of Dregmar you fought earlier, which was for some reason changed (like Nathanyel suggested - please don't rate comments down just because people are interested in the lore of the quests they do), or be the informant that hinted Aurastrasza to look for Dregmar (they're both runemasters, so are possibly related in a way - revealing Dregmar might've been a form of revenge on him).

Soloed him as lvl75 unholy Death Knight.

Tactic was to pop frost presence, summon gargoyle asap and use Bone Shield on every opportunity. I got him deseased and basically spammed Blood Boil, Rune Strike and Death Strike, using every chance to heal myself out. I ended up having around 6k hp, didnt had to use potion during the fight.

i did use frost aura and some tanking gear i had, + Glyph of Death Strike helps alot, just spam Death Strike so u keep ur hp up, make good use of Icebound Fortitude and Rune Tap if u have it, and ty Franz for the warning, saved me.

Soloable by 76 proection warrior in kara/T5-badgegear. Previous comments about cooldowns, and especially damage reduction (TC/demo shout) were quite useful, died first attempt - made it out in the second with 300 hitpoints to spare. Definitely one of the toughest, but soloable, quests so far for me in Wrath.

Solo'd it as a Boomkin. It was a hell of a fight. I started out with HoTs on me, and opened with all my DPS cooldowns. Every time he would punt me I would start throwing up HoTs (he's too far away to hit you). I would switch back to Boomkin and keep going. I used Barkskin whenever it was up.

It took a pot, a grenade, and innervate, but I finished with most of my health, but almost totally oom.

Solo'ed by 75 demon/aff lock with felguard and siphon life...
The fight is very long (about 5 mins) and the trick is not to pull aggro from the felguard.
To maximize it's aggro output, put on cleave, although this will swiftly drain his mana unless you got at least one talent point in Mana Feed.

If you have that just Curse of Weakness + Siphon Life + Mana Tap to feed mana to felguard. And spam Health Funnel.

able to solo as a 73 unholy (0/16/48) Death knight.
just make sure to keep up diseases, alternate your icebound fortitude and bone shield, and use lichborne(if you have it) to fill in the gaps. HP potions/Medallion of heroism really help for this. But as long as you keep up your diseases, use Blood strike for the death runes, and spam your death strikes you should do fine ^^

Solo'd as demonology spec warlock. Great fun. Just let felguard gain aggro and used Omen to make sure that I didn't pull aggro away. Used Curses, took about 2-3 minutes.

Did this as a 74 BM Hunter with a 75 DK. My pet(Echeyakee, cat) would tank, the DK would keep healing the pet and I was all out DPS. This also worked with the previous boss(Dregmar Runebrand). Kill Command and Bestial Wrath whenever possible so the cat would also DPS. Kill shot to finish it off.

Tried to solo as a lvl 76 Prot Warrior, used all cooldowns i could... Retaliation, Trinkets, Enraged generation, Shield Wall & a pot. Other then that kept TC, Demo Shout, Shield Block, 5 sunders & Battle Shout up all the time and did the usual rotation.

I got him down to 7k hp first try, second try i got him to 50k hp before dying, i advise getting atleast one more to do this.

btw i had full tanking gear on, tried with dpsgear and was even worse :) hope this helps someone.

Prot paladins can solo this too. Keep up Holy shield, Seal of wisdom, judgment of wisdom and cast on yourself righteous fury and blessing of kings.
Spam hammer of righteous and shield of righteousness and whenever you get to 75% HP cast a holy light on yourself and keep going.
Use Divine Plea everytime after you heal so you can recover mana.
Didn't use bubble or BOP or LOH So you should have those just in case you get bad luck.

Did this as a ret pally with minor heals, another ret pally tagged along. Was fairly easy, took less that 3 min and both of us were at 73. Face cliff so you don't get knocked off and keep on him. Made some heals, and dps'd him, took him down with no problem and quick too.

Took a while, about 4 to 5 minutes, basically went in with Bone Armour free, then alternated that and IBF each time it cooled down. Make sure you face him away from you, and your ghoul will occasionally give you a fraction of a breathing space if he charges it. Toss up the garg, and make sure you use your runic power when you can with DC and Runestrike. Deathstrike as per usual each time you have runes free.

Soloable as 80 Resto Shaman, probably doable earlier as well.

I noticed I hadn't finished this questline before I dinged 80 so I thought I'd give it a go.
Just pop earth elemental totem and Earth Shield it. Keep Lighting Bolting and Flame Shock/Lava Bursting him and make sure you don't fall off the cliff. Once in a while re-apply ES and heal your Earth Elemental and you should be fine. Takes a while though, he has tons of hp. But with Mana Totem it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

PS: Naturally, Bloodlusting helps.

I was able to solo this guy as an enhancement shaman at 77. A little high, I know, but I didn't pick up the chain until then. Anywho, I'm sure it could be done earlier. All I did was head to the torches, drop Strength of Earth, Windfury, Mana Spring, and Flametongue totems. Used the horn, and popped wolves as he gets into range. I popped fire elemental a few seconds into the fight just to speed things up. Saved my Maelstrom Weapon procs for Healing Wave just to keep me topped off as he can crit quite hard.

He went down long before the fire elemental expired and I never got around to using heroism.

Also, be sure to reposition yourself when he does his knockback as you are near a cliff.

Solo'd as a 75 Prot paladin. It takes awhile (about 4-5 minutes at least) but can be done. When you blow the horn he comes charging in from the direction of Wyrmrest temple behind you. Makes sure you get behind him and away from the cliffs edge (he has a nasty knockback that sends you about 30 yards away, which isn't a big deal if you are away from the cliffs). Also try to maneuver yourself to where a busted pillar (to the west on the path of the titans) is directly behind you. That will keep the knockback from throwing you away.
To take him down I just rotated consecrate, shield of righteousness and hammer of the righteous. Make sure your holy shield is always up and judge him constantly (I used SoV and JoW). When you get down around 50-75% hp use holy light and pop divine plea for the mana replen. I also threw in avenger's shield whenever it came off cooldown.
I didn't notice any serious dmg from his attacks and never had an "oh @#$%" moment. I didn't use any pots or LoH or bubble. Just kept tanking him and healing. I did use devotion aura and my tank gear which puts me at 15k hp and just under 20k armor.

Soloed as a 77 elemental shaman. The trick was keeping Water Shield up all the time to keep from running out of mana. I would use Lesser Healing Wave whenever I went below about half my health, the rest of the time was the usual Lightning Bolt, Flame Shock, Lava Burst, etc. The crit from the Flame Shock-Lava Burst combo undoubtedly helped as the clearcasting reduces the mana cost for healing spells also. The fight was long but manageable. Ended with about a third of my mana left without using a potion.

I cant do him with ret paladin 76, only got 11k hp and 4.7k mana tho. He gets some lucky hits and its game over. Cant see why they put him as a g3 when i soloed all the quests before him, also marked as g3. Who the hell is testing these quests?

Duoed this as a 73 Holy Priest and 73 Resto Shaman. Priest DPSed, used shadowfiend, shaman used fire elemental, heroism, mana tide totem. Both ran out of mana at the end and resorted to wanding/poking with a dagger.

Soloed this as a 75 elemental shaman. I had 1400SP and 28% crit (with EO up). I was a bit worried reading these comments but having soloed the rest of the chain I thought I'd give it a shot.

Boy, was I worried for nothing. Typical drop/heal earth elemental when it gets to about 50% while pewpewing. It took about 3 minutes. Ended the fight with about 50% mana. Don't be afraid to knock this one out yourself.

As a 74 dk I did not solo this quest, but would have if he hadn't knocked me off the cliff -__-;; by the time i got back there was a group about to start so i did it with them. But seriously watch that knockback, the attack itself does a lot of damage and you dont want to fall off the cliff. he comes at you from the side you want to be on so that if you get knocked you won't fall off of anything

Soloed as a 76 hunter, not easy. Had to use distracting shot to pull aggro onto myself while the pet healed up. Intimidation does not work, but frost traps do, which help keep distance. However, he does do a charge which will immediately close the gap, and like everyone else said, beware of his intense knock-back. Good luck.

This guy put up quite the Challenge, but he is soloable!
(Having the glyph of Blood Tap is useful throughout this fight so you can throw in death runes to help you out.)

I am a level 74 Blood Specced Death Knight and I took him down on my second try. You just need to use your CDs right in the beginning and keep up your rotation with plague strike and icy touch so that you can death strike when needed. Make sure to constantly use your runic power though for Rune Strike, Death Coil and Dancing Rune Weapon when its up.

You will probably end up using Vampiric Blood twice in this fight and you should use Rune Tap whenever it is available!

Not hard to solo as a level 80, at least for a Tank.

Soloed as a 80 Feral Druid with Improved Leader of the Pack.
He has 123.4K HP, but not hard to burn with high crit rate, and doesn't hit too hard (Hit me for average 700 on Bear form, but Imp. leader of the pack covers that), just use Cooldowns and everything should be fine.

He does knockback sometimes, so don't fight with your back to the cliff. =)

As a hunter i found a spot where i could actually hit him and kite him with ease. On wide road the sides seem to cause LoS for him but not for me so i actually kited around this. Worked like a charm and i suppose that locks s.priest can do this as well. posting a pic of the place.

Soloable as a lvl 72 prot pally. I used Seal of Light and Judgement of Light, as well as Blessing of Sanctuary. During the fight, I made sure to have Holy Shield up at all times and would use Divine Plea if I ever got in trouble with mana, which honestly wasn't much of a problem. When I got to about 70% or so in health I would wait for him to knock me back (which occurs every 30 - 45 seconds or so) and after the knockback I would then cast Holy Light, which usually brought me near 100% health. I just followed this basic strategy until he was dead.

As a 76 Ret Paladin, I was able to solo with BoW, SoW, JoW, and Concentration Aura up. I would dps until my life was around 60% and then proceed to start casting Holy Light. I definitely had to manage cooldowns to succeed though, popping my Avenging Wrath right off the bat, and use my Divine Plea when needed. The fight is long enough that you will be using your big cooldowns a few times, as well I had to pop LoH towards the end of the fight and a mana pot. I killed the elite on my 2nd try and he's immune to stun.

Easily solod as a resto shaman, 1650 bonus healing, just keep water shield, flame shock, searing up and use the occasional LvB, itll take a while but it isnt hard at all.

There's someone downranking all comments made about people that say they've solod it, ofc if you only say just this it doesn't have any value, but most of these people give valueable comments about their gear,tactics and any oddities encountered at that moment.
If I were lvling and wondering if I could solo a certain elite quest those comments are very usefull to see if you could solo it, so stop downranking 'm if they actualy have decent info tbh.

Soloed it as a lvl 80 affliction warlock in two attempts.

1st attempt: Sent voidwalker in, used curse of agony + corruption + siphon life and of course health funnel to keep pet's health up. Renewed the dots as soon as they ran out. Using the three mentioned dots I got aggro when Grom'thar was at a little lower than half his original health, and he killed me, even though I used a healthstone and one runic health potion.

2nd attempt: Same tactic as above, only this time I only used TWO dots at a time on Grom'thar. I never got aggro during the fight, and killed him with no problems at all. Thanks, trusty voidwalker.

Soloed as protadin lvl73 w/ use of Lay on Hands.

Each swing he does hits with both main and offhand weapon. MH hits me for 1100~, while OH has half output damage.
Also cast Thunder which hits for 1.5k nature damage and does knockback. Just watch your back, or else you may fall of the cliff.

Soloed easily as lvl 76 demo lock with Felguard (gear mostly a mix of lvl 70 season 2 pvp gear and quest greens).

Curse of Agony+Corruption, Shadow Bolts in between Health Funnels (with 2/2 Improved Health Funnel) while trying to be careful with threat. Soul Shatter about halfway through, then a bit more heavy nuking until he died.

Was not even close to dying at any point, so should be doable at lower levels too.

Soloed with a lvl 76 Frost / Unholy specced death knight (44 frost plus 23 unholy).

Buffs:
1) Food that gives 30 Sta and 30 Critical Strike rating.
2) Lvl 2 Horn of Winter
3) Frost Presence (never try this in Unholy Presence.. ever)

General Strategy:
1) Make sure you are not on any cooldowns
2) Summon your friendly neighbourhood ghoul (you should by now have the Minor Glyph of Raise Dead)
3) Summon the Boss
4) Make sure you summon the Gargoyle as soon as possible by spamming the boss with Plague strikes/Icy touch/blood strikes and/or Obliterate. Get the gargoyle out.
5) (Optional): Activate Automated Weapon Coater if you have it on you.
6) All your runes should be on cool down now. Use Empower Rune Weapon and repeat the sequence in 4) again. You runic power bar should now be almost full. Use Frost strikes / Rune strikes.
7) Your should have lost a fair amount of hitpoints now. Use a Super health potion and / or Lifeblood rank 6 if you have it.
8) Now instead of Obliterate, start spamming Death Strikes to regain your health even if it gives a tiny amount per strike. Make sure your blood runes are always present as death runes (ie. make sure you still blood strike regularly to gain the death runes).
9) Try to do this for as long as possible before you Death Pact. Why? Well because your little buddy is also doing damage to the boss. Deny him that right as late as possible in the fight.
10) If you have around 14k to 15k health, you should be able to survive the fight with at least 20% of your hitpoints left (I did not use any potions, but did use Lifeblood)

Remember that if your runes are all on cooldown, and you have already used up your Empower Rune Weapon and need some extra runic power, you can always use Horn of Winter to gain 10 points.

My stats at the time (relevant ones)

15911 health (multiply that by 10% when in frost presence)
1516 Attackpower
14.5% Crit
410 defence
10% Parry
11% Dodge
10k Armor (multiply that by 80% when in frost presence)

Did they nerf this guy? I just soloed him with a lvl 75 uh/blood dk. My ghoul died during the fight and I didn't use any heals except DS.

My strat was to keep the diseases, BS, horn, and blade barrier up as much as possible. Replace SS with DS in the standard dps rotation. Call down the garg and hit him with unholy blight also. I never got down below about half health, maybe slightly lower. I also used IBF twice in the fight.

stats, in frost presence with horn, were:
13297 health
2124 atk pwr
26.22% crit
14255 AC

I think it also helped that i had 138 hit at the time.

Soloed as a level 75 affliction warlock, wasnt easy though. Kept Corruption, Siphon Life and Curse of agony up on the boss on the boss at all times, not using any other dots to avoid pulling aggro from VW.

This guy hits very hard so I was using Health Funnel the entire time I wasnt reapplying dots on the boss. Fight took around 4 min.

I just completed this quest on a level 76 warlock/ 80 dk that are both on the same account. I started by opening 2 wow game clients and first summoning Grom'thar on my warlock and then switching over to the other client.
(Have your account and password already typed in for faster access.)
I also had my Void walker tank while my warlock was in limbo. My VW died the moment my dk showed in game so i moved quickly and grabbed the aggro of Grom'thar before he started attacking my warlock, I got the mob to 20k remaining health and switched over to the other client and then log onto my warlock and when he showed in the game i slowly casted dots on Grom'thar after about 15 seconds my dk disappeared the bar above his portrait became red and once dead i was able to loot his head and turn it in 8D

Started by poping all the cooldown and the usual rotation DEathstrike/Blood strike, refreshing disease and dumping runic power w/ frost strike/rune strike.

I don't mean to complain or anything, but is anyone else really unhappy with the quest rewards here? If you actually follow this chain, there is a lot of suggested grouping, and a total of 5 elites you have to kill. I was really expecting blue items as a quest reward =|. Ah well, at least the gold is good.

Soloable as a level 75 protection warrior (thanks mainly to Enraged Regeneration and lots of Shield Block), though stun immune.
Make sure to use Shield Block early and often, and keep up Demo Shout+Thunderclap.
Start by noting your HP without commanding shout. Then use commanding shout, and pull. Only attack that can really hurt you is hus naturedamage aoe with knockback. (1.5k dmg approx).
As soon as you hit 70% health, use Enraged Regen on your first enrage. When it is done, and you hit your HP without commanding shout, switch to battle shout for rest of battle.

After that, it's smooth sailing. Make sure to utilize Shield Wall and Last Stand if needed.

74 blood DK in frost presence and a mix of defense and dps gear. To my surprise, Grom'thar was the easiest of them for me. I had had serious problems with the previous mobs, even Bonesunder(fire is hard, yep), but this one went down in first try. I used all my healing abilities and watched out for the knockback, so I wouldn't get pushed over the cliff.

I used sta/crit food, a volatile healing potion, and lifeblood, but didn't sacrifice ghoul.

In retrospect, a more defensive strategy would probably have worked better for the earlier quests in the chain, where I had full dps gear on and blood presence.

Just solo'ed as a 75 Fury Warrior wearing tanking gear (mostly blues from quests and dungeons). Standard tanking rotation but you cannot miss a Bloodthirst. I have the glyphed version for leveling and it heals quite a bit. Also used a two-hander for my main-hander as the stats and Crusader enchant for more heals were very useful.

Even as an 80 Ret, this is a long fight. But it is manageable.

The most important tactic is to never keep your back to the cliff. This guy will herd you and keep knocking you towards the cliff. Keep running back towards the road. It has a powerful ground stomp move, but you will see him getting ready for it. Move out of the way.

Be sure to keep some health pots ready and for healer classes, perform some well timed heals. It will take awhile but he'll go down.

Just ran this twice (due to my partner being Alliance) as a 74 Survival Hunter (I couldn't kite due to lag issues) with a 73 Paladin (I would guess he was Ret, but I didn't really check).

Here's how the fight went down:
- Paladin, Hunter, and pet start the fight, Paladin gets (and holds) aggro
- Paladin about to die - Bubble-heal, pet (probably) gets aggro, Hunter keeps up Mend Pet
- Hunter pulls aggro, Feigns when low-ish on HP (and prays it doesn't resist)
- Paladin regains Aggro
- Grom'Thar Dies

He actually didn't feel like he was completely overpowering me while trying to solo it, so if you have good gear you might want to try to solo him as BM. With Glyph of Mending, Blood of the Rhino, and Spirit Bond, Mend Pet (rank 9) should tick for 1830-ish healing every 3 seconds. With the 2% healing every 10 seconds from Spirit Bond, the 2% healing from Silverback, and enough mitigation, you might stand a chance of getting him low enough to take out before dying once your pet falls.

No promises, though.

Edit: I'd try a pet spec that looks something like this and a personal spec that looks something like this (this spec isn't that good for damage, but the pet's survivability is about as good as it gets). If possible use only mail armor and stack Stamina as best you can.

Just soloed this as a level 74 ehancement shaman. With mostly northrend greens and blues.
Quiet simple fight, you just gotta be on full mana and health then aggro him, and when hes around 95% you pop all your cooldowns execpt Shamanistic rage, cause you will need the mana to heal your self when the wolfs disspear, if you dont have imba dps that is. Other then that just 100% nuke.

Soloed as 75 prot paladin (12k hp, very crappy avoidance ).

Pretty easy once I remembered how to play prot pally and realized my 1h weapon skill was low!

Remember to cast Divine Plea and Righteous Fury. I judged JoL with SoV. Alternate between holy shield/SoR/JoL as your mana/health dictates. Consecrate is a waste of mana. I used Devo Aura. No need for LoH or any healing. Just keep JoL up for heals and Divine Plea for mana and you're good.

Soloed as a lvl 76 demo lock... Not too bad. Sent the felguard in, kept him healed, kept the dots up. Lots of drain life. I used a healthstone and a health pot about half way through. Didn't want to start over.

Soloed as a level 74 prot warrior.

The key here is to reflect his thunders; this fight needs excellent Spell Reflection timing, as thunder was hitting me for 1.4k (well, that is the only thunder I failed to reflect). Keep in mind that thunder is instant cast, so you need to "learn" the time between each of his casts; with the first one you just have to be lucky, but after that you can time your reflects.

He ate about 13.4k damage from his own thunder ability (watch first sreenshot, only 110k damage done by myself according to Recount and this guy has a 123.4k health pool).

Ended the fight with 29% health left, didn't even have to pop last stand (used a healing potion mid-fight which healed me for about 20%, just in case).

Extremely difficult fight but with good timing you can solo this guy!

Soloed as 74 Moonkin 990Sp Dmg 3635 Armor(Human Form) and around 400 Resilience. I was on pvp gear. 9/7/2009

Didn't use any potions. I used cooldowns, Innervate, Treants, Barkskin and also my damage trinkets.
Everytime he casts thunder use all your three hots. Also if needed cast barkskin the hots.
I killed him in the first try. Hope it helped someone. :P

solod as a feral druid with no tanking gear, in bear form

start up in caster prehotting and a moonfire, bear when hes nearing melee range. mangle then 5 lacerate, barkskin at start so its off cd, keep up lacerate and mangle every cd. maul when appropriate, i also ended up swiping towards the end. used a potion and survival instincts but you would do a lot better if you had some sort of tanking/pvp gear, i only had agi greens and 10500hp in caster. first try downed him, you might be luckier/unluckier than i GL.

Soloed (Technically :P) as a lvl 73 enh Shammy. The totems i used were Str of Earth, Flametongue, Mana Spring, and Windfury totem. I was not spec'd for totems or sheilds. I was in all quest gear, with only 2 blues.

Pretty much i kept up Lightning Shield as much as i could, to keep up some more almost constant damage to him. As he charged towards me i popped my wolves and let them beat on him a bit to gain aggro, while casting a lightning bolt or 2. After a couple of seconds i charged into melee range and hit him with Stormstrike, which i was glyphed for. Then i went through my rotation, using maelstrom procs to mainly heal myself as i pulled aggro off of the wolves quite a bit. As my wolves were beginning to time out, i popped my Earth Elemental Totem, and when he aggroed i just continued beating on him. Just keep in mind the aoe thing he does and keep your elemental healed and it should be easy :).

Absolutely solo-able as an affliction warlock. Couple of dots up, watch your threat, and health funnel your voidy.

Word of warning, though, mind out for the knockback. He threw my voidy back at about 1%, then followed him, and managed to die in a very novel place.

Soloed first attempt as a 74 ret pally, Ret aura with seal of wisdom. Forgot to put up blessing of might, whoops. Only bubbled once, lowest health was about 25%, lowest mana was about 75%.

Gear: Mix of LK greens and blues, with some BC epix. 1H sword: Horseman's Blade, Shield: Mazthoril Honor Shield, Libram: Libram of Truth. Don't know what good it does for ret aura XD.

Used the following method:
Use horn. Look around for the dude. Realize he could push me off cliff, run screaming until i was in a safe pushback area. :) Heal and begin.

Judge light, Crusader strike, Divine Storm, Consecration, Exorcism. From there, the pattern can be abandoned completely and goes to use each spell whenever it refreshes. Keep consecrated as much as possible, but don't go back to the circle if he knocks you back. Let him run to you. Gives you time to heal. Holy light whenever you need, my limit was 50%. I bubbled once, but it turned out unnecessary since the the heal managed to go through the lag and top me off before i bubbled...

I advise to judge light whenever it refreshes, as that extra health rox.

I just finished the quest solo as a level 80 Disc priest (not in the best gear either - just made 80 a couple of days ago).

I completely agree that you need to be facing the cliffs (not with your back to them - pull him north of the circle and face the cliffs, if you do this, you won't have to find something to be knocked back into) - don't let yourself get knocked off. I only got knocked back once. The trick for me was to keep PW:Shield up for as long as humanly possible, and heal up as soon as you can re-cast the shield on yourself. A problem I ended up having with that, of course, was mana. I had to summon my Shadowfiend once, Hymn of Hope once, and use a runic mana potion - but past that, you'll probably end up killing him with over half your health left over if you just keep making sure your mana stays up.

(Make sure you're casting as many offensive spells as you can - dot him with SW: Pain and Devouring Plague continuously, the spells I used most often against him were Penance, Holy Fire, Smite, and Mind Blast in combination with Auto-Attack and Wand. And again, mind your mana and you'll be fine.)

Soloed at level 80 as an Elemental shaman. Used Earth Elemental to tank him until he was at around 7%. The Earth Elemental despawned (yes, this fight lasted longer than 2 minutes). Also used one runed mana pot. Finished him off by dropping a Searing Totem and just spamming LHW on myself. Not very pretty, but I got the job done.

Solo'd as a level 73 deep blood/unholy spec. Started it off with diseases and in blood presence. Used Deathstrike often, kept an eye on runes in case I had to pop Rune Tap(did twice). Never used potion, nor sacrificed my ghoul. Keep his back to the cliff, and when he knocks you back thats a perfect time to launch a death coil. One shot! :D Good luck to those that attempt to solo this and other "Recommend 2+..." quests. Always good to challenge oneself. Also, thanks for all the above info on solo'ing. I always read others comments on how they did it and try my own way.

Lol i had the same problem, soloed him twice and it woudn't drop. The reason was that I was in a raid group from wintergrasp.

Anyway what's weird is that you can do the previous quest and complete it just fine in a raid group. May be a bug.

Positioning myself in the midst of the "plants" near the trees made this a breeze as a 76 Unholy DK. At first I just wanted to have a tree in my back in order to ease the knockbacks, but it seems like those plant-thingys block your way into the air and keep you on the ground. You still get the magical damage but without the disadvantage of having to reposition. In my first try he ran over to my ghoul everytime I was in the air which made the fight a lot harder.

Other than that just the usual Icy Touch/Plague Strike/Death Strike plus a few Deathcoils; Bone Armor, Icebound Fortitude and AMS for defense.

Solo'ed as a level 73 Enhancement Shaman.

Dropped Earth element totem (For some extra dps), windfury (Need I explain? :P), mana spring (Better safe than sorry I figured) and fire nova totem (pew pew extra dps).

I started by summoning him at the point oposit to the sea, in the circle, to avoid him pushing me over the edge. Then I used shamanistic rage and spirit wolves and just zerged him, and when I in the middle of the fight /facepalmed and just "I got heroism too", I poped that too :)

Got some 70 epic pants, rest was quest greens / blues from Borean Tundra and dragonblight.

Soloed as a 75 ret pally using BoK, SoL, and JoL. My fight wasn't instant, but it was pretty short for my dpsing, and his amount of health. I only used bubble once, and it wasn't absolutely necessary. Judging kept me in mana, while seal of light and maxed out art of war talent gave me instant heals when I judged, and the extra heals from divine storm, so it was relatively easy. I don't really have many poppables aside from one trinket and avenging wrath which I used in the beginning and toward the end. Exorcism, judge, crusader strike, and divine storm were my only attacks, and as opposed to another ret pally -- I never concecrated.

as a level 72 aff warlock what i did is

1.) send vw in
2.) let him mele him down to 50% (all the time useing imp health funnal and haunt if i get low on hp)
3.) when he was at 50% used all my dots and spells

and i was done

the only prob i had was the charges and the fact that it took a very very very long time like half an hour lol hope this helps people :D

took me 5 tries, mostly healing and fire shock/lava burst and maybe a lightning bolt if i had time between heals and water shield refreshing.

Able to be soloed as an Affliction Warlock (I did it at level 75) specced into Imp Health Funnel and Fel Synergy from the Demo tree. Simply send in your VW and always have it keep aggro. Only use Corruption and Curse of Agony for damage, and health funnel your VW when needed. I used Soulshatter after taking down about 30% of his health. I also had my VW use Suffering when it was off CD. It'll take a small while but doing it this way, but it's more than possible. He will charge you occasionally and stun you, but don't worry about it. He also has a knock back so make sure that you don't have your pet near the cliff. Good luck.

Solo'd this as a lvl 72 blood dk.

Didn't have vamp blood or mark of blood, so that made it a bit more challenging.

Threw on a few tank items, kept a rotation between usin imp deathstrike and rune tap. Took two minutes,but between the 2 healing you should do fine.

I failed the first time because I let my ghoul die from his 2nd aggro charge. If you choose to use your ghoul,allow it to do some dps but be sure to have enough runic power to sac it before a) he kills it or b) the minute duration runs out.

Two main tips i would give is:
The fight lasted longer than 2 mintues. Which means more than one ams just incase i did get lucky with that knockback.
icebound fort from the start, stays off having to use deathstrike and rune tap that much longer,and it'll be up before he's dead.

Bring a healing potion if need be.

If this helps awesome, if it gets downranked: so be it, i posted this with good intentions on helping others. You all can decide if its taking up space.

My friend and myself defeated him with myself being level 75, and her being 73. I was a set for frost (15k armor) and taking the hit, where she was undead and dealing out damage. We took him down fairly easy, and were pleased to see; despite this page not mentioning it, that we received 31,150 experience on top of the honor.

Super easy as a 75 BE Prot Pally. 17k health, 19954 armor, 484 Defense.
Put up Seal of Wisdom.
Use Judgement of Light, Hammer of the Righteous and Holy Shield on every cooldown.
Took a while but I ended the fight with 100% health and 93% mana.
Didn't even have to use any healing spells, consecration or any cooldowns.

Soloable as a 77 shadow priest. When you aggro him, cast shadowfiend to get some distance and run towards the ruins on the right. The farthest ruin where there's a little space between, jump over that column and keep DoTs up while he runs to the other end to get you.

CDs used: Shadowfiend, Inner Focus, Lifeblood, Power Word Shield, and Dispersion.

Lifeblood was only needed because I got too arrogant trying to cast a mindblast and he proved how bad of a move that was.

Soloed as a 73 Blood dk in Frost Presence. Played defensively keeping diseases up (really important) and using Death Strike every time I could. The one time I dropped low Vampiric Blood + Mark of Blood + Rune tap = full health. I started the fight with full runic power just playing with Death and Decay and Horn of Winter so I could use my Dancing Rune Weapon pretty early. Most important part I noticed was to make sure you kept an eye on your health so I could use a cooldown if I ever dropped lower than a Death Strike or two could pick me back up with which is why keeping those diseases up is really important so that you get the full big heal.

Soloed as a lvl 77 retri paladin in basic green/blues quest rewards. Didnt have to pop LoH or Divine Shield. I used SoC, varied between Judgement of Light/wisdom and regular dps cycle. Threw in HoL every time he used his knockback attack as it gave me a few seconds before he came up to me again.
Used AoW FoL every chance I could. Wasn't so hard but when he does his knockback attack make sure you your not standing on the ledge as that could mean the end of the fight..

since i dont see one for rogues:

solo'd as an 80 Mut rogue. basically hit evasion after about 5 secs and just normal dps rotation to get him down. had to pot near the end but managed just fine. he is immune to blind though.

for reference, i stack a lot of agi, so i had almost 30% dodge unbuffed (so 80% w/ evasion). if you stack AP or something you might have a little more trouble. his melee averaged about 1600 per swing on me and i had about 20-21K HP.

overall not bad, but dont try soloing it as a rogue before 80.

Solo'd at a 76 Enhancement Shaman. I might be really good because after the fight I had 1942 dps on Recount, but anyway:
I set down totems and mana'd up before I used the horn. When I did and he was in range, I casted Lava Burst. When I got into melee range, I popped Wolves and Heroism. Wolves tanked when Taunt was up, when I tanked, Wolves kept me up just fine. Didn't use Healing Wave. Just did my normal DPS rotation. By the time Wolves went away, I had him down to about 8k health. I just dps'd him down, same way. I ended the fight with about 50% health, but if I had healed when Maelstrom was up I would've easily been at 100% when I downed him. Oh, and when he knocks you back, turn him around, so you keep going from plot A to plot B to plot A etc etc. All in all, like most elite quests this was easily solo'd as an Enhancement Shaman.
If you can't solo it, it'll be easy to find a group.

Solo'ed (technically) with Unholy DK in BP, lvl 80 (NOT well geared at all, just hit 80). Sending ghoul into Aggressive stance on seeing him approach will give you a chance to get behind him (allowing you to face the cliffs). Started dropping diseases (cycling Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Blood Boil, Death Coil), hitting Scourge Strike after every cycle. Used Blood Strike when my health dropped below 60%, to avoid nasty surprises.

I have the Horseman's Baleful Blade equipped, so I dropped my Pumpkin minions. They don't do much damage, but they reset any aggro I have accrued by this time. Then, dropping Army of the Dead, followed by a Death and Decay, allowed for a LOT more dps with an easier take-down. Army of the Dead generated enough aggro that Death and Decay's threat generation was negligible.

Total time took about 1.5-2 minutes, and I only needed one bandage. No buffs outside of my standards as a DK, and no potions used.

Downed him after 3 tries as a lvl 73 blood DK in frost presence. All gear were dps items.

Basically what I did was to divide the fight into 3 parts. Think if went something like this:

1) Horn of winter, Raised a ghoul, and popped my trinkets. I then applied the diseases and tried to use death strike as much as possible and also rune tap when available. Then used my dancing rune weapon.

2) I used death pact when my ghoul timer started to run out, to get that 40% health back. I then used mark of blood, and continued the attack. Spammed death coil when possible.

3) Both of us started to get low on health, so I used icebound fortitude and eventually vampiric blood. I ended up on 1/3-half health when he finally was dead.

Fight took a few minutes, was nerve wrecking at times as I had to hope for rune tap to come around soon not to die. Might be better ways to do the fight, but this worked for me anyway.

Just used hammer, judgement and holy shield.
For additional help try to find a large tree and stand with your back too it, after that he stopped casting his knock back

I got all cocky coming to finish the quest line up from Zul'Drak. I was taking down 77 elites solo there, but got my but handed to me on this line. This is definitely a group quest. I was a 76 feral druid at the time.

by the time I got to this quest I had already hit 80 but the method I was using to take him down I was using as early as level 74 on similar elites in dragonblight. As an affliction lock with a few points in Demonic Brutality, I throw the void walker at the elites and use nothing but curse of weakness and health funnel, leaving the vw on auto-torment and throwing suffering whenever it comes around. If my health would drop down occasionally from the funnels or charges I'd throw a single Siphon Life until it came back up.

Most of these guys won't hit hard enough to outpace your vw's health or health funnel and you can stay at about 50% of the void's aggro or less the entire time. It's a little slow and tedious but works like a charm. Sometimes you have to call the vw back a bit to kite the mobs around so they stay in the general area you want them to.

Then when they hit about 50% health or so, I just open up all guns throwing my spell damage trinkets and stack on a nice hefty 6 dot then burn him down with immolate/incinerate.

74 shadow priest wearing mostly Northrend greens and a blue or two, don't even bother trying to solo. He hits like a truck, is immune to fear and rips through pws in 2 hits. Probably need to be 77+ as a shadow priest to solo this boy. Also agree with the other comments about the gear reward, was expecting a blue weapn but rewards are all green.
