For many the attraction of World of Warcraft lies in the basic conflict, Alliance vs. Horde, mano a mano, PvP. PvP, while present and active, with many activities, still feels like a bit of an afterthought when compared to PvE and all of the new expansion features and stories. A few years ago, Warmode was added to the game to allow PvP players a more immersive experience. This idea was inspired, but has since languished with little iteration or new features. A small band of champions would like to change that.
A Call to Azeroth
A Call to Azeroth
is a website that was created to present ideas about the potential of Warmode to the game developers. This site is cleanly laid out, presenting their ideas concisely and attractively. They lay out 18 ideas for expanding and enhancing Warmode, along with lore ideas to support them. Here are the ideas, check out the site for the details:
Dogtags - collect named trophies from players you defeat.
New currency and unique rewards.
Champion's armor sets.
Exclusive Warmode rewards.
Guild activities.
Escort World Quests.
Advanced map indicators.
Zone control indicators and special events.
Calls to Arms World Events.
Weekly zone impacts to add interest to objectives.
Warmode crafting patterns for exclusive power boosts.
Objective related faction buffs with inspiring audio incentives.
Personal objectives and achievements for coveted rewards.
Warmode leaderboards.
Faction NPCs to support Warmode efforts.
Resource gathering.
Bring iconic but rarely used abilities into play.
Utilize older zones to reuse assets and revitalize the world.
The site was obviously a lot of work for a feedback tool, but these champions are passionate, and it shows. A Call to Azeroth has worked. Several WoW devs have taken notice.
So will it pay off? Will the devs like some of these ideas, be inspired, and roll with them? Or will this fall into the same category as fan fic, with devs reluctant to proceed for fear of being accused of stealing ideas?
What do you think? Do you like Warmode? Do you like these suggestions? Do you think Blizzard should consider this seriously? Let us know in the comments.
