Operation: Mechagon Hard Mode Discovered

Players have been suspicious of Operation: Mechagon having a hard-mode ever since an early PTR build had a Vision of Perfection essence upgrade sourced as "Operation: Mechagon Hardmode". This suspicion is also fueled by the previous Megadungeon
Karazhan
in Legion having
Noctumor
as a hidden difficult boss.

Ulduar
is commonly known for using hard-modes, a more difficult way of defeating a boss, without the use of the Normal and Heroic difficulty interface option. Starting each boss' hard-mode in Ulduar was unique, such as doing enough damage to destroy
Demolitore XT-002
; pushing the big red button in
Mimiron
workshop, or defeating
Yogg-Saron
with no help from the Keepers.
Recently, it has been discovered that Operation: Mechagon does have a "hard-mode" that players can opt into (or part of it) by defeating the first 3 bosses in a particular order. After defeating the first 3 bosses, players will encounter a harder version of the 4th boss,

How to Activate Hard-Mode
Activating the hard version of the
Unità di Oppressione Aerea HK-8
can be a difficult task as well. To do so, players will need to defeat the first 3 bosses on "Hard-Mode". This is done by defeating the bosses with the Aerial Oppression Unit patrolling above during each of the encounters.
While in Operation: Mechagon, you can see where the
Unità di Oppressione Aerea HK-8
is flying by viewing the map. You will need to fight whichever boss it is patrolling over. Once that boss has been defeated, the Aerial Oppression Unit will fly to a new boss. Follow it, until all 3 initial bosses have been defeated.
Hard-Mode Part 1
Dealing with the
Unità di Oppressione Aerea HK-8
while clearing the trash and the bosses with it patrolling overhead is where the hard part starts. Every so often while players are beneath the aerial death machine, it will summon several
Elettrotrasmittente X1
. These pursue players and cast

, leaving electrified puddles on the ground which severely limit playspace. They also can not be killed due to

HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit Hard Mode
Finally, after defeating the first 3 bosses while dealing with the
Elettrotrasmittente X1
s, when you head over to

's encounter area, you'll notice something immediately different. Instead of the usual
Anticarro v1
, you will instead see the
Anticarro v2
awaits you. He has more health and deals more damage than his counterpart, and there are more surprises awaiting once you pull.
The left shows the
Anticarro v1
while the right is the
Anticarro v2
.
Once you pull, you will quickly notice that the
Anticarro v2
casts
Scarica Fulminante
, instead of
Scossa Fulminante
, which adds a split damage soak mechanic to the debuff. Also the
Elettrotrasmittente X1
spawned in Phase 1 are now
Elettrotrasmittente X2
which move a bit faster.
The biggest change comes when players begin Phase 2 after defeating the
Anticarro v2
. All players will immediately be teleported to the center of the arena and the party healer will be debuffed with a
Campo Anti-Sconfinamento
. This field follows the group healer and if
ANY
player at any time leaves the field,
Campo Anti-Sconfinamento
is triggered and
ALL
players will be teleported back to the center of the arena and have to attempt to reach the Overcharge Station again. This also means that if any player gets caught by the Sentry Array or Sentry Bot, the entire group will be teleported back to the beginning. This field lasts until players successfully hack the Overcharge Station.

Rewards and Speculations
Currently, there seems to be more to the puzzle, as beyond defeating this Hard-Mode boss, nothing special was rewarded and nothing seemed different clearing the rest of the dungeon. However, this seems to be a possible step towards the obscure achievements

. Both of these achievements suggest there is more to the dungeon than just defeating all of its bosses. If the first 4 bosses of Operation: Mechagon have a hard-mode, is it likely there are hidden hard-modes for the later 4 bosses? Perhaps there is a speed run, similar to summoning
Noctumor
in
Karazhan
, suggesting that we are on the clock once you enter the dungeon to disable the doomsday device King Mechagon has prepared.
