World of Warcraft is famous for its huge shoulders aesthetic, so much so that it is practically a meme, but one of the issues with huge shoulders and 3D modeling over a variety of character shapes and sizes is that somewhere you are inevitably going to have clipping issues. One of the solutions, when an issue makes itself apparent, is to tweak the size of one of the pieces, and that is likely what was done in the case of a shield that mysteriously shrank in an undocumented change in Patch 9.0.5
as reported by Redditor AlgilarKnight
. The shield model from dungeons, such as
Scudo Torre dell'Impero Infinito
, is now smaller in 9.0.5.
You can also check out the shield difference for yourself by comparing the
old version in the 9.0.2 dressing room
and
new version in the 9.0.5 dressing room
.
Fans of the Bastion Greco-Roman aesthetic were thrilled to get a hoplon shield for their transmog sets, but sadly that shield has been diminished into more of a buckler. That's really too bad.
Interestingly, many are more annoyed that the change was undocumented, than that the change happened at all, however Blizzard is not deliberately trying to slip in potentially controversial changes and hope players won't notice. Changes like this are small and slip in under the radar. This change is purely cosmetic and was not worth the time it would take to communicate it to the patch notes.
