Great staff for shamans and druids. If ur gonna make your charecter a twink tho dont bother.

This item has an optimal itemization for Priest leveling after the 2.3 patch. Mages also have fine use of this, as well as Druids.

Also decent for Warlocks, though they don't benefit from the Spirit very much.

good warrior weapon for the level, higher dps # than the level requirement is what a warrior longs for

All classes need spirit at lvl 20. Warlocks don't need spirit at 70 because healers have extremely high efficiency and mana regen, and even without a healer the mana efficiency of Drain Life is high, but they do benefit from spirit at lvl 20.

Most of the benefit of having a blue weapon at that level is in the dps tho, and priests melee more than warlocks (depending on wand quality).

i really say this staff is for only shadow priests because at low lvl spirit dosent do anything to other classes than spirit tab from the shadow tree in priests
i used that staff at lvl 20 with my priest

Took this with a 23 shaman 24 warlock 22 warrior, and 23 rogue. He hits very hard, and has a substantial amount of HP considering hes only lvl 22. Keep your tanks healed. he basically 3-4 hit our warrior. Go all out on him and hopefully you will win :P

Since pretty well any horde character going thru Wailing Caverns will have the Leaders of the Fang quest, they will end up with a Crescent Staff, which in every real way is much, much better than this thing.

The only real advantage the Living Root has over Crescent Staff is a small amount of nature resist and spirt, which in the low 20's is really not a big concern (or shouldn't be a priority).

If you use this over Crescent Staff, you are giving up +7 intellect and +5 stamina for 5 more spirit, 5 nature resist and 0.9 more DPS. Not a real choice in my opinion. Anyone NEEDING more spirit over stamina and intellect at level 20-ish is doing something wrong I think.

Since most staff users (sorry....any warrior using a staff is a little riduculous to me) would need more mana and stamina, this is a 'thanks for coming out' item.

I guess though if you are a warrior wanting to go with staff, this is not a bad one....no...I take that back.....this is not even a good staff for that purpose!

Of all the items in Wailing Caverns, this seems like the most vender-trashy one. I am at a loss to explain all the above posts where folks seem so eager to get it then. Must be the 'oh...it's blue...it MUST be worth getting' thing.

It depends on your class, for most casters the Crescent is much better unless you are a shaman.

Warlocks have NO use for spirit. Life Tap.

Crescent Staff is better most of the time. I got both on my druid.

i got this for my lvl 23 tauren druid it rules specially for the spirit and healing + but i dont think it would be the best for warlocks as they have no use for healing

This is not better then Odo's Ley Staff, the wolf that drops it from SFK is easier I think, then the tree in WC

We just finished the instance with a 29 hunter, a 22 hunter, and me, a 16 priest. Lucky for me, he droped the staff. I'd better start leveling... lol

Firstly the guy who drops it isn't that hard, me and 2 others all lvl 21-23 managed to beat easy enough... and the crescent staff (reward for leaders of the fang) is probably better. Don't really see much point in the staff he drops

Just got this on my 20 Belf Priest alt. Pretty nice, specially considering the boss who drops it also drops a green. I like it, probly use it for a while. I dig the spirit increase, hehe.

The boss ain't that hard. Managed him easily with lvl 20 druid tank, lvl 19 shaman and lvl 18 priest. Took longer than 5 minutes (which can seem long when you're actualy doing him) Got the staff on first try, very good for my priest. :D

AHH y would u use Emberstone over Crescent it has 2 less stam and 2 less Spirit but only 1 extra Intellect and Crescent is better than Living root unless ur healing so id get bot one for lvl and one for healing if ur a priest if not just use Crescent :D easy choice

For many priests this would be better than the Crescent Staff because:

a) The extra 6 spell dmg helps us when we open on mobs with burst (i.e. holy fire/smite/mind blast) since most priests should grind with an opening burst then wand/dot the mob down.

b) The extra 6 healing would provide us with more survivability adding another 1 hp to each tick of renew. I was able to solo mobs in RFC and even 2-man tara with a mage partner by tanking with renew. It gave back 70% of the dmg the mob could put out.

c) The spirit gives priests more mana regen for healing in instances and grinding alone, however; most priests only use a tiny bit of mana on each mob and don't need to drink if they know what they're doing.

d) It just plain looks cooler as well. The Crescent Staff looks so plain like a BoE green or something, but the Living Root is like an ancient magical tree branch lol.

Which weapon shall I use at lvl 20 ? Now at lvl 16 I got Cresent Staff, but when i where in WC i found Living Root. I wonder which weapon I shall use at lvl 20 ?

this is a pretty good staff for a resto druid and mabye holy priest and thats about it.

This is an amazing warrior weapon. The highest DPS weapon you can realistically get in a long time, and the spirit greatly reduces downtime between combat. The only real alternative at this level is Crescent Staff, but Living Root is better, and you also want to be able to pick the Wingblade for tanking.

Most casters will replace Living Root with Crescent Staff as soon as they leave the instance, so warriors should have priority on this weapon because they'll actually use it and won't vendor it within 1 hour of it dropping.

I got this as a mage last night, the shaman didn't want it but the druid in his guild was trying to convince him that he should be mad at me, and then him and the warlock needed on the ring after we agreed it was for shaman. People turn into goblins over lvl20 bad loot, love it
