Interesting... I'm guessing this is the WotLK version of Gigantique, based on its BoE status and its 24-slot capacity (two larger than anything else so far, like Gigantique was). Anyone know how much it costs or where to get it?

EDIT: Went and checked on the PTR myself. This is available from Haris Pilton for 3000 gold.

If you want all of your 4 bags slot and your 7 bag slots in your bank full of Portable hole's it will cost you 33000 gold, one Portable hole costs 3000 gold and you can buy it from Haris Pilton in Shattrath city. Because the bag is so big(24-slot) I think it will be the biggest bag in WOTLK. Farming some gold ATM so I can buy one xD

This is NOT a reference to portals. If anything, it is a reference to Dungeons and Dragons, where there is actually an item called "Portable Hole". Think of it as one of those acme holes from looney toons that the characters would pull out of a box and set on the ground. In D&D, you just pull out the hole, put anything you wanted into it, and pack it back up and be on your way.

Was there anything in the portal game named "Portable Hole" no, there wasn't. When WoW has a portal-making gun that doesnt store items but instead opens up blue holes that lead to orange ones, Portal whippersnappers can talk. But fow now let us old over-30 geeezers all remember

No mention of the Looney Tunes cartoon "The Hole Idea," animated and directed by Robert McKimson and released in 1955? It is probably the first mention of the Portable Hole in popular media. In the cartoon, Calvin Q. Calculus invented the Portable Hole, and a crook stole it to commit crimes.

How does one "hold" a portable hole? Wouldn't your hand be sucked in if you touched it? I'm guessing that there is some form of "handle bar" to hold on to, or else it would fail as a bag.

Scaling the backpack size by level would work.

Scaling it by the largest bag you have equipped would be a pain. It would grow when you equip a moonclothbag, then when you remove the mooncloth bag it would have to shrink. If it shrank and it had more stuff then the new size allows "something" would need to be done with the extra items.

So sticking to options that grow that bag but never let it shrink would be simplest to implement, and I don't expect Blizz to do anything in any way other then simplest unless something good comes from it (and a headache about shrinking backpacks isn't likely to be "something good").

Getting the backpack upgraded by a special vendor would work. Having some crafted tailoring (or LW) item that adjusts the size ("only one can be applied at once, and you can only ever apply a bigger one, so the bag only grows not shrinks") would work.

Special vendor lets them make it a rep grind, or an easy gold sink.

Having it crafted gives crafters another "earner", but makes it hard to make it a gold sink (they could require mats that come from elsewhere, and the mats could be NPC priced making it a gold sink AND a crafting earner...but that drifts away from simple)

Scaling by level is dirt simple, but no rep grind and no gold sink.

Even simpler of corse is leaving us forever with 16 slot backpacks.

(in the "it ought to be simple, but I doubt it is" category: make the backpack "just another bag slot" and let you throw it away...complex part number one if you throw it away when you have no other bags then you have no bag slots, and can't pick up a bag so you can equip it. You can kludge that problem away by not letting anyone unequip their last bag. Complex part two: I bet a lot of blizzard stuff assumes bag slot 0 is the backpack and that while it might be full it ALWAYS exists. You can kludge around that by always shifting a bag into slot 0...but two kludges just to get started? This solution has FAIL written all over it)

My thought on this is that there should be a ridiculously long chain quest to get the bag upgraded in Cataclysm. This will give those of us not creating a new toon something to do while millions of people rush to create their Worgen.

Here's my 2 coppers worth on this bag. I wouldn't buy this bag because I bet you in the next expansion tailors will be able to make a 24 slot bag so why on earth would I pay 3000g when I can just wait and get it for cheaper. If World of Warcraft were smart they would be selling 26 slot bags from Haris Pilton not 24 slot bags. Shame on them!
