Got this off the raptors that make a sort of "U" shape around the large Troll structure at the back of Zul'Drak. Specifically, these NPC's drop the pet. Just follow the "U" shape from the map and you got a solid path. Respawn rate is incredibley fast, you wont have any down time if there is one other person farming the pet.

I got very lucky with the RNG and got the pet in about 20 minutes. Reported drop rate in 1 out of 1000 though, so it will take time to get one normally. (Source: http://www.warcraftpets.com/)

Spent 2 days farming the gundrak raptors outside of gundrak instance. superfast respawn rate just about zero downtime. dropped off kill # 907.

I see that this pet along with the Deviate from WC is 1/1000, while the Zul'Gurub drop is 1/100 and ofc the others are 100% from rares or bought from Dalaran. It makes my (no more than) 10 resets in WC feel like more of an achievement (I know of people doing 40+ resets to get the Deviate) and my similar 10 or so resets of Zul'Gurub feel like less of an achievement. (RNG chance accepted)

But this baby is really taking the biscuit, I must have killed 2000, I started on my main and farmed for hours, I just can't help feeling that when you are farming for a drop, the drop is getting closer by odds but once you give up, take a break, go to bed, then restart it just feels like the first farm was wasted and the chance starts from 0 again. Kinda true in some respects but ofc the chance is always the same with each mob.
After 3 or 4 good farms on my main I thought why the hell aren't I levelling an alt, so step up to the challenge my just turned 74 priest, well the priest is now an arse kick off 76 and still no drop.

Ended up levelling my dk the whole 79 to 80 to get the drop 3 kills from ding. After over 3000 kills, a friend had same amount of kills too and we both dropped them within minuits of each other.

While farming Gundrak Raptors, you may as well grab and complete the quest "Eggs for Dubra'Jin", given by Ha'wana.
Note: the eggs also spawn on the ground, near the trees in the area.

I started to farm the raptor pets (Gundrak, Leaping, Ravasaur, Razormaw, Razzashi, Deviate, Darting) 4 days ago and just completed the collection. It's going to be a surprise for a very good friend who is on holiday at the moment.

This 1 was the last 1 that I needed and I started farming at 10 AM (blood DK) and finally finished it at 1 AM in the night after 3712 kills and a damage done of about 40 million.

There is only 1 real tip that I can give:
Just keep farming, it does excist and it will drop. Some are lucky and get it on their first kill, others have to make up for that by killing close to 4000 like me. Just don't give up and it will end up in your bags (at 0:30 I started to chat a lot with a friend and only killed like 1 raptor per minute and I noticed the loot message about 5 minutes after the kill).

Fly to Menethil, go to Ravasaur Matriarch. Destroy if available.

Quickly run back to Menethil, take the boat to Theramore, scout for Dart. Destroy if available.

Run up to Wailing Caverns, The Barrens and seek out Deviate Ravager and Deviate Guardian (INSIDE THE INSTANCE!). Run in, destroy, run out, reset. (I do this one when I have time, due to the fact that it is a zone drop and may take a while. Same applies to the Gundrak Hatchling.)

Run up north to Takk the Leaper. Destroy if available.

Run south to Ratchet, take the flight path to Un'goro Crater. Search for Ravasaur Matriach. Destroy if available.

Hearth back to someplace (Dalaran in my case)Fly to Rebel Camp, travel to Zul'Gurub. Go near raptor boss (Bloodlord Mandokir) and destroy Razzashi Raptor (will ALWAYS be available). Run out and run back in (from what I've read, all but bosses reset once you step out then in. I cannot confirm this) and the mobs should reset.

Do battlegrounds, Ulduar, instances, whatever.

Rinse and repeat.

Keep in mind that you can buy the Obsidian Hatchling from Breanna (store next to Exotic Mounts vendor) for 50g.

EDIT: Also, all raptors GENERALLY respawn every 5-8 hours.

Just a interesting story if anyone wants to read it.

So I was flying around one night looking for rare spawns (Working on frostbitten).

When I reached one of terror spinners Spawn points in the Gun'drak Raptor area I saw a allience priest fighting raptors I noticed he had 5 on him and would have died, so I swooped down and started arcane explosioning the area to prevent the priest from dying, I managed to tag one of these raptors with AE, It just so happens that that raptor I tagged drop the pet, Isn't karma great?

I swiftly picked the pet up learned it and used it in front of the priest with a /laugh.

Got mine after killing for about 30 minutes, decided to fly around killing for about another hour without a drop which isn't really surprising, but ended up killing Terror Spinner and got Northern Exposure achievement, so something you should look out for while you're farming this pet :)

I finally got this little guy after almost 3k kills. He has definitely been the most difficult pet to get, that I've ever farmed for. To anyone still farming for him, and having little luck, just stick with it. You will get him! Best of luck to all. :D

I started to farm for this pet around 3:30 pm yesterday because I seen someone in trade spamming "Willing to pay 1500g for Gundrak Hatchling" I had never heard of this pet before so I took a look on the AH to notice there was one up there for 3000g. I quickly came to this site to find out where to farm it. I got there, popped in my iPod assuming it was going to be a long day of farming. I must be very lucky got it on kill number 87. I kept farming to try for another. I stopped at kill 456 because I needed to go to a raid and still haven't found a second.
To those still farming stick with it. It's very well worth it, to sell, or to keep for your collection.

Not sure of my exact kill number, but i had around 360 raptor talons at the end of it
Don't give up just keep at it, it'll drop eventually

Its a cute little blue raptor, it occasionally does a little raptor cry, almost like its hungry or angry

I'd recommend farming for this pet with a Skinner...you get 2-3 Borean Leather per mob and it adds up quickly.

Got mine around the 400th or 500th kill. Got a few blues and greens, just gotta keep telling your self "Just keep swi-killing, just keep killing!". =D

You should try killing the raptors, and resetting the raid. Rinse and repeat. Just do NOT kill any bosses or you will not be able to reset.

Took a few days to get this little guy, but worth it! :) Not to mention 200+ heavy borean leather (yes...heavy), a dozen or so arctic fur, TONS of greens, blue item from the rare spawn and decent gold from the dropped trash.

With the newly redesigned Love is in the Air event, I would definitely consider farming this while you farm charm bracelets because you're killing two birds with one stone.

Due to the low drop rate on Lovely Charms, you can farm to your heart's content on these raptors and attempt to get a hatchling at the same time. I've gotten one myself after several days of farming charm bracelets over several 4 level 80 characters. It's doubles as 4 dailies for myself as well and I can make some money giving the leaders a bracelet.

I just got this on a lvl 74 alt. I went to the Gundrak area to pick up some quests in case I got it for random dungeon. And to kill some time while in queue I did the raptor egg quest (https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/quest=13556). On my 7th or 8th kill the hatchling dropped to my amazement and joy (since i wasn't even farming). It was around 4.30 server time, and I'm pretty sure it was from a blue raptor. This is after the nest thing, and this did drop from an actual mob, I did not loot from a nest. Happy hunting.

3200 Raptor's slaughtered and no drop time for a break :S I could buy the dam thing but it wouldn't be the same 800 more tonight and in theory I should have 3 raptor's now but RNG >> Me lol

Took me about 3 hours and 40 minutes.. was not counting the kills but I was skinning the mobs after killing them. Was enough to get about 2 arctic furs and 25 stacks of borean leather. D:

this took about 3-4 hours of making circles around gundrak. i thought id get carpul tunnel before i actually saw this thing drop. started getting desperate and tried having other rare vanity pets out to raise my luck, murky=nothing, baby panda=nothing, decided to use the pet thats the same as the kitty i have at home, and bam dropped on the first kill...fml.
