Ok, first the mundane comment.

Am I wrong, or are https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/compare=45451;45515;45297;45702;47512;39389 all the same models?

Now the one to cause me to catch grief.

Chain of the Ancient Wyrm drops from 10 man Maly, and it is unknown where Brilliant Hailstone Amulet is going to drop from, as of yet.

When compared to other necklaces that have hit and sockets, https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/compare=47219;44658;47890;45133;44661 this has the lowest ilevel and stats, but brings crit where as most of the other necklaces bring haste.
Darkbane Amulet is the only other crit necklace, and it appears that, as of now, the flavor of the month is crit over haste.

I see this more on my Hunter and never my Mage which seems to imply the class composition is a factor in the drop rate.

This seems to me, the easiest Caster DPS necklace with heroic stats to acquire from non heroics, unless you PVP. The alternatives have less hit, crit, and spell power. The closest may be Necklace of Stolen Skulls which can be bought from the tournament vendors but it lacks in crit and has less intellect. Putting a +20hit gem in this necklace will make up for the loss if you have Stolen Skulls necklace, and you gain crit+int.
