The amount of dodge you need to get in order for Parry to be better is downright obscene. Parry given through Defense Rating counts toward DR, and DR hits Parry at worse ratios than dodge anyway. You'd need around a thousand dodge rating without any parry rating for parry to be seriously competitive.

Threat from parry is worthless. Tank weapons are fast and are a small fraction of threat anyway.

It's a shame, because this trinket is really friggin cool.

EDIT:
That isn't to say that this trinket isn't a very strong contender for second best in slot. People were previously comparing it to Heart of Iron, which is a mistake. I personally intend to keep this equipped into 3.2.

Still a good trinket to combo with Heart of Iron to gain absurd Stam, definitely need both for any real Stam set for a Tank.

I think this works out to a 63 Parry Rating trinket when averaged out over the 2 minutes. Although its a burst item averaging it out over 2 minutes you get 63 Parry Rating which is fairly significant, given the 20 second duration it is also fairly useful during the kite phase on Vezax if you were to stand there and take it.

Oddly only (4) four blue trinkets have +stamina https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=37220, from alchemy https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=44323, and the rest 2 of them are from JC https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=42341 https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=44063,

There are only (2) TWO epics that provide +stamina so far, both in Ulduar
and it is a bit! difficult to get https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=45158 and https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=46021

Some of these blues... are still preferred instead of the epic ones with NO stamina bonuses, because they have! +stamina and some even have sockets for even more bonuses

The required ratio to make dodge equivalent to parry is approximately 700 dodge rating to zero parry rating. Since gear itemization means that most tanks will have some parry rating on the gear they've acquired, it's never a good idea to seek parry rating on its own.

That's not a ratio, it doesn't even make sense (having a zero on one side of a ratio doesn't mean anything). The correct ratio is approximately 2:1 dodge:parry chance. At that point you'd start stacking parry over dodge, but it's not achievable in current (viable) tanking gear so there's no point worrying about it.

Tl;dr: Never ever gem or gear for parry for avoidance purposes.

The trinket indeed do share cooldown with the monarch crab, BUT:

If you use the monarch crab FIRST, the royal seal of king llane do not gain the 20sec cooldown which it should, so you can pop the crab+llane at the same time for an amazing avoidance increase for a short duration. (Iron Council Hardmode anyone?)
If you use the royal seal of king llane first though the monarch crab do get the 20sec cooldown as intended.

If something alike this works with the heart of iron + royal seal of king llane aswell i do not know, since the heart of iron haven't droped for us yet.

This trinket is your second best option for any effective health set. Being one of the only two epic quality stamina trinkets available in game.

Comparing the on uses is a fairly moot point.

As a druid, I must say that I would still pick it up, unless the other tank needs it and can use the parry rating. The effect might be useless for me but the stam, getting even more important as 3.2 comes closer (dodge nerf) is really awesome. This and the heart from ignis 25-men would be out 2 BiS for bears stacking stamina.

Maybe that's because this trinket is from 10-man Ulduar, whereas the Heart of Iron is from 25-man Ulduar?

It makes sense when you think about it.

On the other hand, this trinket drops from Yogg-Saron, who is an end boss. And end bosses tend to have better loot.

Can be used in tandem with https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/item=45158, adding roughly 10% more avoidance to a tank sporting roughly 60%---a 25% average reduction in melee damage over the 20 seconds they are active. I made a macro to /use both simultaneously in hairy situations and will end up using this pair over the ToC stam trinkets.
