I'd say it's more useful for soloing than anything. The pressure of arena play usually reminds you to refresh buffs (or they're purged), yet the tedium of grinding leaves me forgetting to refresh this particular gem quite often.

Would be much nicer if it improved the duration also. I hate casting Inner Fire in the middle of a boss-fight...

Using the formula from wowwiki.com,

DR% = Armor / (Armor + 400 + 85 * (AttackerLevel + 4.5 * (AttackerLevel - 59)))

...or for PVP purposes a simpler format of...

DR% = Armor / Armor + 15232.5

...we can determine damage reduction values based on armor before and after this glyph is applied.

Using armor values from current best in slot PVP gear (Wrathful), we can determine that a priest could have as much as 2342 armor from gear, 3538 armor from talented inner fire, and an additional 1769 armor from the glyph.

2342 Armor = 13.33% DR (No Inner Fire)
3538 + 2342 = 5880 Armor = 27.85% DR (With Inner Fire)
2342 + 3538 + 1769 = 7649 Armor = 33.42 (With Glyphed Inner Fire)
(A total of 5.57 additional mitigation)

If you wish to determine your armor values at home simply type =A2/(A2+15232.5) into the A1 cell in excel, then type your armor value in the A2 cell.
