this is only a retribution paladin glyph, healadins and tankadins should never touch this, as it throws a tankadin off the spell rotation and robs them of mana anyway, healadins dont use AOE spells other then Glyphed holy light

i think it suit prot just fine as a tankadin u need HS and cons up full time for ur rotations if cons and HS hav same time cooldown that is imposible to do so this will help aoe tanking for prot spec alot

This glyph has one use for a protection paladin: Swarm Tanking. I've never heard it referenced before, so I assume most players do not place high value on it. But in many areas, some of the mobs have a chance to stun their target. If a paladin is tanking more than ten mobs at once, even if they are well below the paladin's level, there could be a lot of stunning. In such a case, having consecration (the paladins primary damage and only reliable threat) last longer means more uptime for consecration. It saves mana as well.

As a dedicated swarm tank, I am thinking of getting a stack of these so I can have one handy any time I need it.

Hm, does this make consecration do X damage over 10 sec instead of X damage over 8 sec, or actually 1.25X damage over 10 sec?

In the first case, all it does is mess up your rotation and lower your dps :)

I would like to note that you CANNOT stack several glyphs of the same type to increase the effect. Upon attempting to inscribe a duplicate Glyph at the Lexicon of Power you recieve the message:

"That Glyph is already inscribed in your spellbook."

Am I misreading something here? Everyone is talking about this Glyph overlapping at 8 seconds with in the normal rotation. The thing I am noticing is that this glyphs raises the duration from the normal 8 seconds to 10 seconds, meaning you get two more ticks out of it, the second part of this glyph which you are forgetting is that it lowers the CD of Consecration by two seconds, from normal 8 seconds to 6! seconds. From what I have gather from reading some of the others rotation order, I do not see where this overlaps or how this overlaps at 6 and 8 seconds.

This glyph is by far one of the worst tanking glyphs for a Protection Paladin.

Although I understand the idea behind this being mathematically inferior with a standard tanking rotation, I think this might be missing something with the 'new' tanking. Note that certain things previously unusable while tanking, like avenger shield, are now instant cast, and have lower cds. Also, Holy Shield has a 2 second window (10 second length with 8 second cd) for refresh, allowing a bit of versatility, I think looking at the overall way blizz has restructured the abilities they want to reduce the reliance on 'tanking rotations' in general. I think it's quite legitimate to argue that overall ditching the idea of rigid tanking rotations in favor of situational versatility and the use of other abilities (Avenger Shield, Exorcism/Holy Wrath, HoJ, Sacred Shield, Divine Plea (yea, right :))) is perfectly fine, and certainly more fun than relying on simple tanking rotations.

I've tanked 25 man stuff in BC, and frankly, I just don't have problems staying well ahead of the curve in terms of threat. I think the game gives plenty of breathing room for tanks and threat, and although I think this glyph, like most others, is a pretty mild effect overall I think if it's looks like it's fun for you then go for it. So far, WotLK seems even easier to stay ahead, so I'd worry about stuff that makes things better for you as a player (since glyphs can't be swapped easily like gear) not just you as a tank, I think tanking is easy, but your results may vary.

so how does this just make Consecration dmg spread out?
so for example

w/o glyph consecration 8 sec and 300 dmg (for example)
with glyph consecration 10 sec is it still 300 dmg? so less dmg per sec but longer duration or does it extend consecrations dmg?

I find a "little" mistake in this rotation, that's called Libram of Obstruction. Your dps (and your threat) will go down if you do ShoR just before Judg (haven't done the math, but tested this on Orgri sticks).

But I do agree with you in one thing, this glyph is useless for tanks.

This Glyph may become a major tank glyph in patch 3.1.
It seems Tankadins will be designed around keeping Divine Plea up at all times, which adds another GCD needed every 15 seconds (roughly 2 9696 rotations) and allows the use of Exorcism every 30 seconds regardless of undead or not (roughly every 3 9696 rotations).

This glyph allows you to fit an additional cooldown ability in before you next consecrate. I'm not a pro-number cruncher or theory crafter but I'm going to definitely grab this glyph and give it a shot.

yeah it increases dmg per mana of consecration but its depended on enlongation of time of consec.. but they forgot to tell u something even if its longer 2 secs, it doesnt increase dmg so it still does same amount of dmg within a longer period... and if u make an equation about it: lets name x as total dmg of consecration

x/8 gives the dps of consecration without glyph
x/10 gives the dps of consecration with the amazing glyph

so x/8 > x/10

if we wanna say 1000 is the total damage that consec does within full period:
1000/8=125dps
1000/10=100dps (its clearly seen that u do 25%more dps compared to glyphed consec)

yeah it makes u not to lose that much mana but it also makes u lose dps... now u need to decide whats important for u, dps or mana

Correction after testing under better controlled circumstances:

According to the tooltip, Consecration's total damage is unchanged by this glyph. But since each tick does the same damage with glyph or without, that should mean it does extra tick(s) with the glyph installed.

I don't have a parsing mod to be sure of this, so corroboration from someone who does would be welcome.
