I got mine from a Gordunni Elementalist, after 25 ogres killed. Another guy was in the same zome and he told me he got it after more than 40 kills.

About 50 kills last night, no drop. Glad to hear people are getting it from Back-Breakers and Head-Splitters so I can keep trying while I'm in the queue for battlegrounds. If it only dropped from the Elite Soulreapers I'd probably give up...

Killed 122 ogres before this one dropped from a Head-Splitter.

Their loot tables are terrible, by the way; a handful of gray vendor trash, a couple greens, stacks of netherweave, and some talbuk venison.

This pattern is nowhere as hard to get as it looks from the numbers, as it only actually shows for people with Leatherworking. Not to mention that it was added in a recent patch (2.3).

I'm not sure if I was lucky or anything but I would say the droprate is ~5%. I had to kill about 20 or 30 ogres before it dropped.
The ogres themself are easy - be aware that the Elementalist will try to cast Healing Wave at low hitpoints. Oh, and watch out for the elite Soulreapers, and you'll be fine!

It is possible to get this pattern before level 70. I got it at level 64 on my hunter by having a warlock summon me to barrier hills and having a few friends help me kill the ogres. I'm very much enjoying the break from endless killing of clefthoofs on my path to 375 Leatherworking!

You can get this pattern well before 70. All you have to do is go to 21,23 on Aldor Rise and jump upon the black border that runs along the back wall. If you are Scryer you can still use the joined lift to access aldor rise and walk along the outside to this point. Once to this point, then group with a 70 leatherworker (it really doesn't matter). Have them pull the ogres back to the wall near where you are standing below. You can attempt to do this on master loot or group loot. If the pattern drops you will be able to roll on it standing below on aldor rise. Got this pattern on my 63 hunter while stnading on aldor rise, and another 70 hunter in the barrier hills killing the ogres for me. Took about 10 minutes.

The drop rate must be really high for LW's. I just killed Back-Breaker and it dropped. Very easy.

I have to agree with the above posters; I would ignore the drop rates that Wowhead lists, I got it on my sixth or seventh kill.

This is a joke! I've been up there on 2 occasions now. 1st time I killed 47 ogres. The second time 39. No pattern drop. No greens either, in fact the drop rate of anything other than Netherweave up there is terrible.

It's silly I can go and buy a 28 slot mining bag pattern, but I have to kill a squijillion ogres to get the leatherworking one for a .... leatherworker!

P.S. Today I finally got it, took me another half an hour grinding. Guildmates are claiming they got theirs pretty fast, like 10 kills or so. So my thoughts is that drop rate has been nerfed.

Level 78 Hunter with 415 LW skill and I just went up and down the camp killing everything and didn't get a drop. I wonder if they've changed it with the newer stuff out.

Any chance you need 360 LW before picking it up? Because I killed like 20 ogres there for a quest and it didnt drop and Im a LW, or maybe I just was out of luck.

As of May 2009... Pattern dropped for me on the 8th Ogre kill once I entered the Barrier Hills... not too bad... took about 10 minutes maybe.

Just wish the mats weren't so damned ridiculous... not sure I can make a profit of this on the AH... guess I need to find the Trapper's Traveling Pack.

It should be noted that the pattern was introduced with patch 2.3. Up to now there surely have been some 37,000 kills of those ogres, because they are needed for the Skettis quest string. The pattern is fairly low (only 360 LW required) and green, too. It dropped for me after just a few kills and yes, I was also prepared to kill for a number of hours. My estimation would be that the real droprate is somewhere along the lines of 10%. Happy hunting!

Took me about 150 kills. So don't despair if you don't get it in 10 kills. It WILL drop eventually if you are a LW hehe.

The ogres that drop the recipe are in the barrier hills, just northwest of Shattrath, lvl 70-73 i think. there are a few elites running around, so watch it. i only had to kill about 9-10 ogres and i got it - i must be the lucky one... expect to kill more for yours

It's been my experience so far with the new solo-farmable BoP recipes is that they drop roughly 1 in 70 kills or so - I've farmed 5 of them so far, and the droprate has been between 50 to 150 kills per, generally closer to 50-75 kills.

I've farmed up three enchantments, and 2 blacksmith plans - all have dropped in one playsession each.

Took me about 60. Don't take on those elites unless you're in a party. Not only do their spells hit hard, but they summon skeleton adds that like to interrupt ya. 20k + health.

I got this pattern to drop off of the ogres above aldor rise. I killed two for the drop. Super easy!

This pattern is a very common drop from the Gordunni ogres in the Barrier Hills, above Shattrath City. Very simple to get, and there is no use farming after you have it, since it's Bind on Pickup. =)

took 20 mins of grinding to get. Ignore the drop rate stats, only leatherworkers can see the drop and its a new item so numbers are way off

ive been here for about 1 hour now, ive killed about 78 ogres ive had 2 green and one blue drop... but still no pattern ... am I in the right place? 22,11 on the terrokar map? :(

umm... im not getting this drop im a 364 Leatherworker and ive been killing them for 45 minutes

i think they fixed the drop rate on this last patch.. ive been here farming forever and it wont drop. ive talked to some lwer friends and they agree with me, so if you didnt get yours before 2.3, youd better buy one made!

Literally flew up and killed one and had it drop, however I've had guildies farm for it with no such luck. Pattern is BOP, green quality, and only lootable for leatherworkers.

I got mine on my ~10th kill on my second session of grinding up there. The first time I tried getting this pattern to drop, I was up there for about ten minutes with a friend, killed about 20 ogres, and it didn't drop. I would've been there longer that first time but I had a raid to get to.

The location is in the hills above Shattrath City's Aldor Rise. There's a bunch of Gordunni Ogres up there. It's hard to miss. You do need a flying mount to reach this location.

U have to have a flying mount to get to the ogres. But if u climb up the side of the mountain and die u can appear in the graveyard up top with them. I took rez sickness then let it tick down. The elementalists dropped it for me on the first kill. The are very easy to kill for being lvl 71s cuz i was 67 when i was farming them. good luck

I can confirm that this drops from the ogres in The Barrier Hills just NW of Shattrath in Burning Crusade Classic. I had 365 leatherworking at the time, but you may be able to loot it with lower than the required skill as well. Very quick and easy to get, actually.

I killed about 50-60 of the Gordunni Ogres and killed the Elite Gordunni Souleater and got nothing more than Silver and Netherweave Clothe :/ Quite a disappointment

This is a BOP pattern for Leatherworking.
I doubt that it will drop for a non-leatherworker.
The drop rate appears to have been increased since 4.3
According to the latest comments, the Wowhead drop rate is wrong for this item.

The drop rate appears to be :
1. anywhere from 3 to 30 kills
2. ONLY for Leatherworkers
3. UNIQUE drop. Once you have it, it won't drop again.

Update 12 June 2014 (5.4.8) :
Level 67 Marksman Hunter with Leatherworking at 339 got the pattern on the 10th kill.
Confirms that you only need to be a Leatherworker and do NOT need to have LW at 360 or above for the drop.
