They changed the stuff to make them on PTR with one of the last patches, now it is:

1 Adamantite Bar
4 Simple Wood
2 Handful of Fel Iron Bolts.

Glad I did not make 26 adamantite frames, btw anyone want to buy an Adamantite frame...

Patch Day: Got all patched fly up to netherstorm and in 2 kills got it off the archers. very easy farm IMO.

My main is a non-engineer but I have a lower level engineer alt. So farming for this on my main to give to my engineer alt does me no good.

I got this to drop from a Sunfury Archer last night, and yes.... the schematic is BoP so don't send a friend or non-engineer alt to farm it up for you.

Gotta say, my hunter guildmates love me now ;-)

in my 2nd try, i have my recipe on 15th kill

on both i didnt kill even 100 of them, that drop rate is wrong

As others have stated, much much easier to get than the Khorium Scope schematic off the Bowmen.

I got it while doing The Sunfury Garrison (https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/quest=10222), Unlocking the Compendium (https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/quest=10301) and Torching Sunfury Hold (https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/quest=10233) since these are all in that area anyways. Four birds with one stone.

I'm assuming that the droprate is quite decent. I myself just got it on my 3th kill. Keeping in mind that's it's only bin in the game since 2.3 and the current wowhead droprate is based on a total of 73k kills. Now it's pretty fair to say that the majority of those kills are mostly pre 2.3. And we can probably state that this will only drop for people with engineering since the BoP (may be incorrect on that part tho).

I offcourse can't give any % rate, but i feel that this is easy to get and imho pretty fast also.

Now i just need to lvl engi so i can use it lol

The drop chance is way higher than 0.3%, i got it on my 15th kill and a friend of my got it on his 20th, so it can't be hard to get. It's a similar drop chance to Field Repair Bot 110g

Is anyone else %^&*ed off or even aware that the "bullet" version of this is BOE and easily obtainable form the AH? I'm not mad because I don't want to farm it, or can't get it to drop, I'm mad because my hunter's level 61 and in one level I'll be able to use these arrows, but I can't get my hands on any until I hit netherstorm (no maker, or arrows in AH, and can't find anyone to make them) but if I were to use guns all I would have to do is buy the schematic in the AH! If that isn't complete BS I don't know what is.

Do not be put off by the apparently low droprate on this item. It dropped in but a few kills for me on several engineer characters.

Furthermore, it's a very, very nice item. Not only does it give you the ability to carry much more arrows than usual, it also provides a nice item to make in stead of the various grenades and primers around that level, which are hugely resource intensive.

I just learned about this and have been working on my hunter, so decided to take my eng and see if I could get the schematic. I made a couple circles around the edges where the Sunfury Archers are, I killed 21 before it dropped. Noone else was killing them at the time. not sure what that says about the droprate if I was lucky or not. Just thought I would share.

I was able to get this schematic as a lvl 64 Hunter. Just ran all the way with an epic mount. A few mobs here and there but a few feign deaths and I was on my way. I took a bunch of agility buffs with me - Warp Burgers, Elixir of Major Agility, and the Agility V Scroll. I stood on the road and killed the Sunfury Archers one at a time - occasionally two and once four (I never died fighting the archers). I didn't count how many I had to kill but I went through four agility scrolls before the schematic dropped so it was 90 min - 2 hours. The archers are all lvl 67 or 68 . In addition to the schematic, I also got 3 green armor drops (all higher lvl than me). Definitely worth my time and it was fun running there.

Goblin Engineers can also stop in Area 52 on the way and get the schematic for the Dimensional Ripper - Area 52. It's free from the goblin standing by the dimensional ripper.

Well i just farmed for this and it took me about 1.5 hours and alot of kills.

While most people will find it useless among all the other comments.

The arrows which are the result of these Arrow Making Machines (You get 1000 arrows out of one all in all) are quite better until you are at good standing with Thrallmar/Violet Eye.

Also saves space for those long hour grinds and/or farms/instances. 4 slots = 4000 Arrows. And, they are for the quality of the arrow, practically free.

My farming took about half an hour (I think 30 kills or something), but I am pretty sure this drop is only seen by engineers. Knowing that non-engineers also kill Sunfury Archers, this 0.4% is not real if you are an engineer: 0.0000....% (nothing) if you are not engineer, and about 1-3% (I think) if you are an engineer.
EDIT: I rather think it is about 0.8% if you are an engineer.

Got this today on my 63 BM hunter. I pulled each of the NPCs one at a time by keeping my pet on passive, getting off one shot, and turning and running until they followed to ensure they would be alone. It dropped on my fifth kill.

Engineers should always check with Qiff in Area 52 and Dealer Najeeb in Stormspire for extra engineering pieces while they are in Netherstorm farming for this drop. Both vendors sell limited supplies of Adamantite Frames (a must have supply for any), as well as Fel Iron Bolts needed for this recipe and other items.

well, I farmed this awhile back on my level 80 main. It was a wretchedly horrid grind that lasted months. I seem to have some of THE worst luck for getting stuff I want/need. Even though I was already exalted with the Shattered Sun and Scryers, I still did the daily Attack Plans quest while farming this recipe. I killed legions of these mobs for weeks on end before I got this recipe to drop. At this moment, there are only 63 schematics my main does not know (some of which are for gnomish engineers and I am goblin). I plan on collecting all that I may possibly learn. I believe it was into my 3rd month of grinding for this near daily for about 30 minutes to 2 hours at a time. I was mainly farming for my hunter alt as he had the epic level 60 pvp bow and these arrows REALLY helped on dps. Good luck to all finding this schematic.

I was also grinding this for my hunter. Took roughly an hour after several go-arounds of all the archers at Sunfury Hold as well as a full lap around Netherstorm for the admantite ores. Good luck to the others!

I had to kill about 45 Sunfury Archers on the Blackwater Raiders server to get this to drop for me. Not a bad run since I got money, Netherweave Cloth, Sunfury Signets, and Arcane Tomes (2) at the same time. PST if you need any crafted for you. Nodnal

Drop rate is reasonable, but not as good at least for me as some here. I didn't track time, but it was probably around 45 minutes or so give or take. Went through 750 blackflight arrows killing the archers and came out with: 19x Sunfury Signets, 3x Arcane Tomes, 67 Netherweave Cloth, 3 greens (belt, ring & amulet all lvl 65) and two vendor trash weapons before the schematic dropped.

I decided to try for this, figuring it would take me days (if not weeks) of short-to-medium grinding sessions to finally come across it. The first day of my mission, I had only been grinding for about half an hour, give or take, and it dropped! So don't let the crazy-low drop rate intimidate you. It's worth a shot (no pun intended). :)

I farmed this on my level 50 character, who has high-level engineering. Was hard to get there in Netherstorm and I needed help of a level 70 to kill the archers, but I got the schematic after 31 kills and maybe about a hour or more.

Also, there's a vendor nearby, just north of the graveyard, in case you're a lowbie and die too many times and you can't even use your weapons any more. (YES, I died a LOT, but I got the schematic, so who cares?) Now I can make arrows for my level 70 main.

The droprate isn't nearly as bad as people think for this, since it will only show for Engineers. The droprate is based on the total recorded kills vs. the total recorded drops, and doesn't take into account "trigger" drops such as BoP crafting patterns.

Having farmed this on 2 Engineers on separate servers, I think the droprate is closer to 10%, and not nearly as bad as Alla's 0.26% would suggest.

I cleared the area about 3 times (took 2 or 3 archers out at a time) I was just about to give up when it finally dropped. ARCHERS people! Not BOWMEN!

Those who are having problems getting this drop, keep in mind it's a BoP drop, so you would actually have to have engineering to even see the item drop on the mob.

Myself, 70 Warrior, and a 70 Hunter both got this tonight...pulling 2 and 3 Archers at a time for over an hour, and were starting to get a tad discouraged when Hunter got one, then 3 kills later I got mine as well. So, just keep at it, and if you start to get discouraged just remind yourself how nice it will be to have this....you WILL get it if you refuse to give up !

Ive been farming these on my 64 Prot warrior for an hour now, still havent seen it.

Died once due to a bad pull, but I am able to kill them on my own as long as I only get one at a time.

Did this at level 64, I was a little worried since most everything is level 68, but I can confirm it is the ARCHERS that drop this schematic, it took me about 20 minutes, but im sure a higher level could breeze through this much faster.

Went there w/ my 62 hunter. Dropped on my 8th kill...thank god. Even for a 62 BM hunter, lvl 68 mobs can be a pain. Great drop rate though, ty bliz

So you DO have to be an engineer to even have this drop for you, right? It would make sense seeing as how i farmed for 2 days for 4 hours looking for this or maybe I just have bad luck. Can someone confirm this for the final time; that you have to be an engineer for this to drop?

Yes you have to be engineer to see this drop and yes it is possible to get it at level 50 because I got it last night ... the hard part is for a level 50 to get to area52 once there you get a buddy that can kill the archers and it only took 3 kills for me to loot it!

This schematic drops from the Sunfury archers as Sunfury Hold
real quick drop rate.

For those that do not have cord system add on
Sunfury Hold is, Due south east from area 52, and is upon the north east side of the next island, across from area 52. Its easy to spot as it has a Sunfury Pavilion

Previous posters nailed the location, thanks! It took me 24 minutes for the schematic to drop for my engineer rogue. Even though it took longer than for others, no worries, I got a ton of mats and about 6 signets while grinding so it was not wasted time.

Lol, 4th kill and it dropped. I was kinda hopin to farm some signets, but I guess I'll go do that in a better spot, haha.

Edit: LOL, and I went to farm some other guys at the manaforge right nearby, and got the Spellfire Bag recipe on the 5th kill at that place, the third spellcaster there, rofl. Good luck for me tonight!

I would not expect to see this before Phase 4. These were released in Patch 2.3.0 (Zul'Aman) alongside Mysterious arrows and were only really useful for alts and those who didn't have rep with Violet Eye at the time. It would be practical if Blizzard releases this earlier but I doubt it.

If the schematic isn't dropping. Try re-logging. I killed about 40 with no luck, re-logged and got it on first kill.

Don't be fooled by the low droprate. Wowhead's data is provided by all users of their addon, this includes non-engineers which can't loot this. I didn't keep an exact count but I feel about 10-15 archers were killed to obtain the pattern, and other engineers in the guild confirmed this droprate (probably somewhere between 5-10%).
