Although it gives a really good amount of mana, without much variation (the difference between the lower and the higher values is 200), the reason why it does so it's because Blizzard is testing the "one-potion-per-combat" mechanics, which means you can only drink ONE mana potion per combat. So the mana potions of the new expansion have to give such benefits to make it worthwhile if ppl want to use them in fights if necessary.

Have any potion masters, had this potion proc yet in WOTLK plz? Made 10 tonight and no proc, has the proc been removed or am i just being unlucky as usual? :)
EDIT: I made some more the following night and got the proc x2. Also the AH price yesterday on Eonar was 45-50g for a stack of 5

If the alchemists are gouging for these on your server, you can save a lot of gold by farming Unbound Dryads for them. Drop rate is about 1 in 10 or so, and I've saved over 500g on one farming run by hitting these instead of getting ripped at the AH. They also drop Runic Healing Potions as well (about 1 in 5) so you get both pots for the one farming run.

As of this moment in time (3.0.9), the Frenzyheart that claim to have a 6% drop rate are displaying a 0% drop rate after a few hundred kills. I am suspecting they nerfed it. Healing Potions? No problem. Mana potions? Good luck.

You may have got unlucky but you may also have noticed a nerf because of changes made in 3.1 patch. According to the patch notes:

Northrend herbs now yield more herbs on average.
The time it takes to gather herbs has been reduced.

I think prior to patch 3.1, Blizzard noticed that even for alch/herbalists it was cheaper to buy the dropped runic mana from the AH than it was to either farm or buy the herbs and then make them (they require *two Lichbloom* and one Goldclover). The only clear exception to this would have been if you were a mana user and had Potion Mastery (giving extra potions) as an alchemist *and* farmed your own herbs. But then you would end up making potions just for yourself or would be selling the potions at much lower prices than the herbs used to make them...

All in all, I think I prefer the new changes to herbs and the consequent rebalancing slightly towards alchemy (a difficult profession to make money with already) rather than higher drop rates from monsters to all characters, including non-mana users.

As of patch 3.2 these along with the healing potion stack in 20's which will free up quite a bit of bag space
