This trinket outperforms Adamantine Figurine easily if you have some +block gear. Note the very short cooldown on this.

This trinket is amazing for multimob trash pulls in conjunction with Shield Specialisation and the use effect from Figurine of the Colossus.

Even if you have good tanking trinkets already, try pick this up. Last boss can be duo'd and the whole chain takes about 20mins.

I'd only consider The Adamantine Figurine better for Druids personally, for Paladin and Warrior tanks this one eats the figurine alive. 15% Block is worth a lot more then 3% mitigation.

Given the cooldown this trinket is incredible and should be used on almost every pull.

15% Block Rating is actually useless if you're already capping the Attack Table, which Warriors and Paladins should.

The only reason I'd get this trinket is for next to Adamantine Figurine when I need to wear Resist gear and stay above the 490 Def Cap at the same time.

Even if you cap your 102,4%(?) as a paladin, in some fights you get silenced a lot and cannot use holy shield. Then this will help you a bit.

For Paladins alternating between Holy and Protection, the "Dimensius" quest offers two viable rewards, this trinket and some very good healing pants. I opted for the pants because they are the best you will find before Karazhan. (and they are nearly as good) But if you are set on Protection, this trinket is a great choice.

I have both this trinket and the Adamantine Figurine, but frequently forget to use them while tanking. Though neither is usually necessary, they can't hurt to use and have short cooldowns. So I ~~stole~~ modified the macro from the Lower City Prayerbook comments to have both in place of my usual Shield Block:

I have yet to test this to see if it's worth it to use, but I did try it out and it will trigger both trinkets at the same time if neither is on cooldown. They have different cooldowns so subsequent uses will trigger them separately (if you're spamming Shield Block), but it does hide the annoying errors you'd get from trying to use them while they're on cooldown. Also I don't know if the #showtooltip part is necessary or not, but I've got it in mine.

I picked Shield Block because it's an ability I spam every time it's off cooldown (particularly on boss fights, where the trinket probably helps the most) but you can probably use it on, say, Heroic Strike if you'd prefer.

Yes, both trinkets can be activated at the same time - they don't share cooldowns as of Nov 26.

Once you get this, hold onto it. I got rid of it when I "upgraded" my trinkets, and miss it frequently even far into SSC and TK. Some possible uses are on Hydross (with resist gear, it's hard to get your defense back up to uncrittable) and Tidewalker (the "use" can push crushing blows off the table).

Currently I am building the resistance gear sets out for our tanks and off tanks. This trinket is nice to have along with Adamantine Figurine for the lose of Defense you take with resistance gear sets. Every tank should have one of these along with Adamantine Figurine.

If you choose to spec tanking spec on one of your alts perhaps even your main for WOLTK, then i strongly recommend that you get this trinket. You will most likely still use it at 80! The road to level 80 has, as far as i'v seen, a lack of tanking trinkets. The first trinket which has an usefull ability won't be availeble before around 78~ And it drops in a instance.

This only goes for people who don't have anything better from pre woltk. You won't regret takeing this one before or wile leveling in Northrend.

At 80 it still gives
6.1 to defence skill and 7.62% to block for 15 sec. Everything counts if you want to get def capped!

This is one of the few bc trinkets i support in full on naxx raids if people still have it. easier to cap and use different gear setup for pre-naxx, and still gives about as much as most trinkets leading up to the heroics.

If you can manage to hit the cap without it though, it might be time to explore other options.

Not a bad tanking trinket, +~16% block on demand in addition to other mitigation is a good defense to avoid crushing blows in a critical situation.

This is indeed very nice. Finally replaces my Force of Will, the last old world piece of equipment I was still using. Pushes me to 510 defense in full tank gear.

Got this, and my Def rating shot up to 533 in full tanking gear. Maybe I should trade off some Def rating for Stamina, as my HP is only 11,024....

I can't wait to get this trinket, as it is one of--if not THE--best tanking trinket pre-raiding at 70. The quest chain to get it is unbelieveably short and having 30 defense in a trinket slot lets me use other valuable slots for more stam dodge block parry etc.

Ferals only need 415 def as they have a talent that gives them -3% to be crit.

With the feral talent that reduces crit chance by 3% druids need 415 defense to be uncrittable. Warriors need 490.

Also, for those stating having more is useless are in fact wrong. Its not ideal, but its not useless.

Sure, it's great for a tank of any type. Just DO NOT neglect your +Hit as a tank or you will find yourself trying to taunt an untauntable mob/boss because your Sunder Armor was dodged 4 times in a row, Shield Slam missed, and Heroic Strike was parried twice.

Great trinket that will help any warrior tank ascend to the 490 defense rating. Killing Dimensius is a piece of cake if you have a 5-man group (as quests suggests) complete it. My group took about 3 mins tops to down this guy. As a prot warrior I tried the above methods of one-manning and two manning this guy, and none of them worked. Dimensisus goes away a minute or two after Commander Saeed is dead, so you really need a full group if you want to beat this guy.

If you're having trouble assembling a group for this quest, start or join one of the 3 5-man Tempest Keep Instances through LFG, and get them to help you complete this quest before you go into the instance since Manaforge Utris (where Dimensius is) is close to Tempest Keep anyway.

To be honest, yes it's a nice trinket for the defence rating.. but... there is the trinket from shadow labrynth and other defence trinkets in raiding that can easily replace it so it's hardly a do or die item for tanks imo... as a pally tank i took the legs as a superb set for offhealing having missed the consortium legs in my earlier questing career.

The big issue i have with this trinket is the use effect... block rating... when block rating matters you have holy shield/shield block up and will be uncrushable... when it doesnt matter the use effect is give or take..

The shadow lab trinket however has a big armour boost which equates to a hefty extra damage reduction on those big hits reigning in.

The usefulness in resistance fights is definately there for this trinket in displacing defence rating, but then again there are better trinkets available by the time you are doing the must have resistance fights (hydross is the big one really, heroics in general don't need resists and also can cope with a slightly lower defence level for uncrittable anyway)

So the conclusion is yes this thing is good for the new level 70 tank, but it can quickly pale in comparison as it's very easy to fill the defence gap on tanking gear and once you hit your 490, raw avoidance/mitigation (figurine of the colossus, moroes' pocket watch, autoblocker) become much more desireable in the trinket slot...

It could be remarked as panic button when unable to activate holy shield or shield block... but if your being healed/hit you should have no trouble activating these abilities while tanking.

However this + the shadow lab trinket and the felsteel set is an excellent start to being uncrittable at 70 and offers a great base...

I've been using this trinket for one main reason. I actually had pretty decent gear before searching out this quest in order to get the trinket.

DO NOT THROW THIS ITEM AWAY!

As a tank, this trinket is useful against Hydross in SSC. There might be a few other instances to use it, but that is the main one. The resistance gear has no defense on it, so use this and the Adamantine Figurine to make up for it.

Since Paladins are more block-dependant then other tanks, this is really nice. Gonna start the chain tonight and get it.

NOTE - have no reason why a druid would choose this, since they can't block. Go with the Regal Protectorate, +health isn't a bad thing (i still have it)

I have used this combined with the Figurine of the Colossus for AOE grinding since i was in blues /kara gear.

Theese days im in full T6 but it still comes in handy now and then..

I am the only warrior that tanks shatterd halls heroic( ally side )on my server ,since i yust trasfered here and its a "new server" and the best guilds hee are sill stuggling with gruul.
though i am in full T6 i can assure you i can still die,and this trinket combined with colossus helps the "Blue geared" healers to keep me alive in that place..
i have almoast every trinket made for tanks in this game..but for some reason thisone gets used alot more often than any other..

It can also be used in Resistance fights when your Def gets below 490 etc

Alot of ppl say that you cant get crit by spells in PvE..

you got crit at Ragnaros and You get crit today..

get 490 and then satck close to 300 in the needed resistance ..and after that try to top 14k hp.. youll be set for any magic boss there is..
