A ring which you can get after you kill Magtheridon and loot his head..it's just kinda like Onyxia's Head or Nefarians..and you get this sweet ring for a spell caster.There are other rewards as well

Not crap, but definitely not worth DKP if you look at the alternatives (Scryer, Chess, CE exalted + more).

It's the best ring for a shadow priest +hit whore like myself :) This combined with Ring of Captured Storms from HWL Naj'entus is the best combo which suits my build (0/5 shadow focus, 205 hit rating from items). The CE exalted ring was good for karazhan/gruul perhaps like most of all the exalted factions rewards :) Im going for this on our next magh kill, i just hope i can pick it up since i already have the healing ring :

yes, it's one head drop for the whole raid so only 1 can loot it.

If you did raid before in BWL, or even in AQ20 (ossirian), raid boss have only one head not like the small instance boss that multiply their parts to please everyone.

This ring is DAMNED good for a 10/48/3 specced mage. (fire)

This ring combined with the cenarion exalted ring free's up some better slots/sockets when going for the hit cap.

And fyi if you're a fire mage and don't have your hit rating capped by the time you're in ssc, you messed up big time.

As an affliction lock I'm gonna get my hands on this beauty and use it together with Ashyen's Gift when raiding.

Spell hit rating is gold worth for every spellcaster in every raid.

This is for everyone who thinks spell hit rating sucks.

If your target is the same level as you, you have a 96% chance to hit.
If your target is one level above you, you have a 95% chance.
Two levels: 83% on mob, 87% on player.
Three levels: 72% on mob, 80% on player.

Spells crits only do 50% extra damage unless you have talents improving that. Easy to understand, because if not my pyroblast would be critting for about 10k.

If you consecutively do 1000 damage to 10 targets your total damage comes to 10000.
If you miss with one your damage drops to 9000.
If instead of missing you crit you damage goes to 10500.
So, that is 1000 damage lost for a miss and 500 damage gained for a crit.

Obviously spell hit is better to a certain extent. Mobs and players at a minimum will always have a 1% chance to resist, so it is best to have extra gear with spell hit for instances because raid bosses are counted as 3 levels above you which means you start with only a 72% chance to hit.

Once again I will note that talents you have may chance this like the frost mage one where you get a 100% increase in your spell crit bonus... this post is just meant to inform those who dont know how valuable spell hit can be for dps.
