Yes, as of patch 2.4 this sould be active for Druids in feral forms. This is fantastic news:

12 damage equals 12 dps for a Druid (we hit at 1.0 speed).
This translates into 168 attack power, which I'll take anyday.

.. yes that is considered "blunt" and makes use of weight stones eventhough I'd def. be slashing, cutting, and stabbing with it. Go figure.. or don't; you can't always make sense of things like this using normal logic. You just have to figure out what the the game allows or doesn't and that is the final authority. Oh well.

Fist weapons are considered blunt and this can be applied to them.

If you are a Hunter and use a Fist weapon, then this is the best single DPS buff you can get. Both the damage and the critrating applies to ranged weapons unlike the Sharpening Stones.

Fury warriors should always have two of theese on at all times, greatly increases your DPS. Unless you have a Shammy for WF in your group, in that case just apply one to your OH,

Since in patch 3.0.2 they rolled melee and spell crit together in 1 stat, i wonder if the +14 crit would work for spells as well. I'll do some testing later and report the findings.

I found that I was able to use the weightstones on my Titansteel Destroyer. Other weapons I get the message WPN LvL to low.

Whilst adamantite sharpening stones stop being allowed to be applied to sharp weapons at or around lvl 177, these weightstones are still allowed to be applied to weapons of lvl 200, or at least on 2 maces that I have tried them on at lvl 200, I don't know if they will be allowed on any higher lvl maces or if this is an oversight and will be pulled but at the moment it is swaying the balance between similar stat swords and maces toward maces for human warriors for example.

Remember that these stack with each other and apply the damage to both weapons.
so even though it says blunt damage if you are using a sword and a mace, the sword will also be granted + damage and if you put one of these on 2 maces you get 24 dmg on each weapon and 28 crit., still a hell of a use in WotLK.

As of patch 3.0.8, it appears this item no longer works on maces which are lvl 200+

I discovered this after testing them on the PTRs.

Further more, patch 3.0.8 doesn't appear to be introducing any 'newer' versions of this item, which use higher level reagents.

Perhaps in upcomming patches we will see a replacement.

At the release of Lich King, temporary weapon enhancements (oils & stones) worked on items all the way to those requiring level 80 (I applied it to Totemic Purification Rod with no problems), this was changed by Blizzard within weeks of release. After much experimenting I found that (at version 3.09) the current cut off for using these is any weapon with item value of 162 (as rated in the Armory). Any weapon at or above 166 will alert the user that the attempt failed but will not consume the object. I was able to apply oil to a Levitating Dagger (BOE green) which requires level 75 to use.

Now, everything I have read has indicated that temporary, and on proc effects work while shapeshifted as of 3.0, however, these temporary enchants are giving some weird paper doll readings. When I apply this to my weapon, it shows a 12 damage increase while i'm in caster form, however, as soon as I switch to feral (either bear or cat), that +12 buff goes away, reverting back to the damage range I normally have without the weightstone.

Any insight into this would be great, I'm guessing it's just a display glitch, and once I hit 80 it won't matter anyway, but like others have pointed out, 12 damage and crit rating speed up leveling considerably.

This shows that it applies crit bonus to ranged attack on the paper doll, whereas the "sharp" version of this enhancement specifies melee only.

Does anyone know if this actually applies crit bonus to ranged attacks, or does it just change the numbers displayed without actually affecting crit rate?

I put one of these on my Sulfuras today, and when I looked at the info screen, the weapon damage had been increased the correct amount, but the crit rating was completely unchanged. I put in a bug report, but has anyone else noticed this?

I'm not the first person to report the crit rate bug, I'm told they are aware of it and working to fix it. At least I know not to waste anymore of my stash.

u can get this an 2 different plans that require 350 BSing when your honored with cenarion refuge (beginning entrance of zangarmarsh).

Indeed - I also have the same problem applying this to my Drakefist Hammer :(( Posted a ticket but the GM response was that this was not known yet ... goes to show that the communication on department level aint up to scratch :/

Don't see anything in patchnotes for 2.0.10 either :(( I really would like this to be fixed because especially when fighting mobs that are immune to poisons (elementals etc) this is one great alternative.

I craft them and use them on my two fist weaps with no problem so maybe the bug is fixed (I also have no problems with the fel iron one)

if you dual wield, this stones are quite nice 'cause you get 28 to crit rating wich is pretty good
