This staff is by far the best staff I've seen up to this level. It requires completing the 6 part series The Ring of Blood(https://www.cuckhead.com/wotlk/quest=9962). The entire series can be done in about 15 minutes, but requires a group of 5.

just finished this quest. This is a significant drop in spell dmg from HWL 1h+offhand (AV or HWL) but there is a great stat buff and crit as well. I for once was willing to sacrifice to 20 spell dmg or so just to have a great looking weapon. It really is a sexy beast

Long and fairly hard to do chain quest if you dont have a guild to support you...

As a Balance druid (as well as many casters), this is a pretty good weapon until you hit 70. Then you better go try and find something else, quick.

Easy to get, most 70s farming Elemental Plateau or doing Halaa PVP will usually help you do this fast chain. Will last you until 70 and is the first real upgrade Alliance casters see (Horde get the slightly-inferior Totemic Staff at 60).

Do enchant glows show up on this? I guess they should, but the dark glow seems like it wouldn't take effect.

No enchant glows DO NOT show...bummer...I applied Icy to it and it stayed the old smoky glow. Glad I didn't need those Small Brilliant Shards. :(

I just got Time-Shifted Dagger from a run in Durnholde (I'm level 66). Would that, along with The Saga of Terokk be a comparable combination to this? I would assume affliction warlocks would prefer the combo because of the extra spell damage. Either way, this is how it looks:

Interesting fact about this staff, when the shaman puts any of his/her weapon spells on it (flametongue weapon, earthliving weapon, etc), they don't make the weapon "glow" the way it normally does. Probably because of the black smoky effect that's already on it.

If you done really care about the stats but for the spell power skip this, even green 1h can overpass this one with a medium offhand the only cool in this OH is the bunch of stam

after the 70 ne hunter who was ganking us (espessialy our priest once we already started) the whole time left,
these q's werent that hard.

we even had some allies to help us (and we helped them) so no big deal,
usually enough people around to help

A solid upgrade from most level 60 epic staffs of combos. Better then r14 staff.

The quest is fun too, you'll get 10 super HP and 10 super mana pots, about 70 gold and 80k experience for doing it; in addition to a great reward.

Its not a drop, its off of "The ring of Blood: the final challenge" quest in Nagrand, at the Laughing Skull Camp.

This is one of six (equally good) quest rewards obtained in Nagrand. The quest line starts in the northern ogre camp and requires a party of five people. But it is straightforward.

Really awesome staff. It replaced my Staff of the Ruins.

It is not a drop though. It is a choosable quest reward from the "Arena" quest series in Nagrand.

Just head to north Nagrand to an ogre camp. Atop the hill you will see a goblin questgiver near a pit. Bring a good 5-man party (with tank and a good healer), because you will be fighting really nasty named elites, in a chain. Each of the mobs is a quest itself, rewarding a good bunch of cash, a lot of XP, and even some
"Super" potions.

After the final mob quest, you will be able to choose this staff among other cool blue items. It is a tough effort, but really funny and rewarding.

It looks like the Crystalfire Staff from ramparts, but has a black, smokey aura instead of the purple on the crystalfire. I got mine today for my 65 mage. We had a group of 5 (65-67) people but the closest we could get the champion was 20%. He hits like a truck and we wiped about 5 times because we couldn't keep the tank up. We finally got 3 more people to help us (2 more healers and a hunter), which made the whole thing go smooth.

man i had to try this quest twice. the 1st time we had a pretty good group except we had trouble with finding a good healer. and like most everyone kept gettin wasted by the warmaul champ. so we ended up disbanding. the 2nd time i waz with a good group from my guild. we had a lvl 66 tank a lvl 68 druid a 66 rouge 66 priest and me a 67 mage and still that guy put our tank down. after rezing we found another 5 man group doing it so we all teamed up and pwned that dam guy. even though the quest log says its a 5 man. i dont see how u could beat the 5th elite with out more peeps or a lvl 70 tank and healer. i mean dam the last guy isnt even hard compared to the 5th one. but all is well the staff is worth it in stats and appearance. gl to all who atempt this quest chain

Replaced Crystalfire Staff with the staff Battle Mage's Baton. Nice staff and will probably use it for a while.

Throw a message in local channel letting folks know what you are doing, get as many folks there as possible and drop em, did this last night with 5 man group up until 2nd to last boss. Wiped a few times (they hit like a train on clthies) and the next thing I know there are like 25 more peolpe (alliance) there now.

Take turns and do your part dropping the bosses and with all the help they drop easy. 11k - 14k xp, 11g per kill plus 10 super health pots & 10 super mana pots and the nice blues at the end. Well worth the fights imo.

see, i'm on a low pop server.. so doing these kind of things can be difficult, so it took me around 3 days to get a group formed for it. what ended up happening was there was another set of guys goin for it at the same time, so we let them do 1 then we'd do one.. It worked out pretty ok till the last boss.. who hits like a truck going 130. had to call a friend in.. and he ended up getting killed too.. but.. we thanfully had it down enough to where we could take it out. So.. ya.. it's an awesome staff for at least 4 levels or so, but it's real tough to get heh.. the last guy hit's amazingly hard.

Very tough chain. We had a good group but if the tank can't keep the aggro the damage dealt is deadly for the supporting players.

We were wiped a few times. In the end we had a few other Guildies over for support. Lots of fun!

I am a 66 Balance Drood, only just picked up the Crystalfire Staffand was very happy with it but this is much better - drops a few intel points but gains 11 Stamina. The bonuses are better as well.

One of the most fun Qs - Really liked the idea of a few extra people adding to the support. Don't wander too far from the Ring as you can pick up some Ogre mobs as well, it gets really messy then!

Pretty easy to get, and a great staff.. Had a 5 man group (Warr 66, Hunter 66, Lock 67, Mage 66, Priest 70) and got it really easy...

Yes i have this staff too, luckily it was quite easy this quest. Seeming that i had a 70 warrior, 66 warlock, 66 priest and 68 hunter (me 66). But... there was another group beside us who needed the quest aswell, so we helped them and we pwn'ed, then they helped us did all the guys in that arena thing etc.

My group alone tried it before but was un-succesful, the twins are soo hard lol! Easiest was that Void thing Shak'tar maybe 0.o

But yes we done the quest and got our rewards and a lovely 80g from it all!

Yes alone, this quest is very difficult but if your lucky there will be another group doing it =)

I am thinking this staff is better than Staff of Polarities drop from Mana Tombs boss Tavarok still need to do the chain and find a group but I will most likely switch these out.

Have done the chain twice (once as an allie, once as a hordie).

Just one thing, if you die, don't release. If you stay there and get rezzed, you get credit. IF you release, even after you get the complete message, the quest fails.

Its a good idea to pick up the advisor quest from the respective poster (they are identical for allies and hordies) since you can kill the required ogres while waiting for everyone to get ready for next phase.

Took me about 4 hours to get a decent group for this quest. People being at different stages in the quest made it awkward. so long as someone takes charge and decides who clicks the quest giver you'll be fine. had a 70 warrior tank rest of group averaging about 66, pretty easy and what a great staff :D:D:D

Im a 66 Fire Mage Did this quest with guildies 3 70 locks and a 65 healer, with another guildy locky out of group ( Yes my officers in guild luuurvs lockys) after reading about this quest yesterday. Thanks guys.

Although we did it fairly easily and i got all rewards the guildy out of group had to head off so we tried it again for a gal that responded to my cries of help on LFG and we kept failing on last boss. downed him the first time but when he rez's i'm sure he's stronger as he kicked our ass. I would reccomend a 5 grp team with a guy standing by to guarantee success first time. Also we had awesome healer

Anyway this is well worth it i had about 1g due to buying 150 riding skill recently but when I left the ring of blood i had 92 G 10 super mana potions, 10 super health potions and roughly around 60k XP. Whether you are 65 or 70 this is well worth it as even if you have a better wep than the reward you can DE it and get another 20g maybe. I make that 112g for not much work. Not to take anything away from the quest it's a hell of a lot of fun and I now have an awesome looking staff with great stats! Most of the posts above i found to be spot on, except the odd random dribble.

PS, just sold the bandage as i dont bother with first aid, 6g at a vendor so in fact its more like 118g

Its a staff you get from a quest, u start it in lvl 65 in nagrand, and its a chain quest, u need atleast 5 peopels to do it, its pretty hard at the end. but the rewerd is WORTH IT.
Just get a good tanker and healer, then u will make it;)

65 Lock (me), 65 Hunter, 67 Priest, 68 Shaman, 70 Warrior made this a cake-walk. I started the chain only because of the XP, didn't know I'd be getting this awesome staff at the end. I've been using the Totemic Staff for quite awhile and didn't know how soon I'd find a replacement for the spell damage.

Two quests gave me over 11K, two over 14K, and the last was almost 18K XP.

Quickest 70K XP in the game I'd have to imagine.

In a perfect world go for spell damage because of your high level you will always have enough mana.

The question you should be asking is do I want to spend G on two prismatic shards? (+Int) or eight prismatic shards for (+damage)?

If you are an enchanter it won't be that expensive.

My advice isto save your shards I had this wep for about two weeks untill i stumbled across the mighty Bringer of Death...

hey im a 66 shadow priest, but i randomly am asked to heal instances should i pick this and try to get an offhand better than my current (bloodwoven rod of healing ftl) or go with the Battle mages baton i currently have staff of polarities for dmg and coilfang hammer of renewal oh and btw
