While this item may seem fairly useless, it really shines in PvP situations when you can rush into a group of enemies and blow them to smithereens.

This item can crit as well, which can lead to some seriously large numbers!

Tbh:

The whole whining "it costs so much IMO!!1!1!" sucks. This aint in the game for the casual player, it's not in the game for ultimate lowbie ganking; it's here for the hardcore people.

If you plan on to get the armored netherdrake you will have to use items like this. It's the boost you can't be without in arena. And Blizzard boosts engineerning in 2.1: "11 new epic goggles have been introduced at 350 engineering skill and are available from the trainer. They range from cloth to plate, and have a variety of stats to appeal to most talent specs.", which makes engineering really good.

Get this if you want to be the hardcore pvp player, imo.

The Super Sapper Charge is instant cast.
It shares a cooldown with The Bigger One.

As a prot warrior I use Super Sapper Charges on the Leotheras the Blind fight in SSC to ensure that I can kill my inner demon before the timer runs out.

I'm not savvy on the high-end engineering stuff myself, and as such am not sure if this is feasible, but the primal mana doesn't seem such a high cost if you farm regularly with the zapthrottle mote extractor in Netherstorm.

Assuming you have the goggles to see the clouds of mana, of course.

my guess on why it takes a primal mana is because engineers can make the mote extractor and it makes gathering primal's easier

I've found the best application for this to be in tanking, just try it in SSC on the murlocs, they'll have a hard time pulling aggro off you. This has the most bang in any bomb, and with a nice 10 yard radius, it's excellent for any AOE pull, but it's typically cheaper to get Fel-Iron Bombs off vendors, but when the extra damage counts, you should make a few of these.

Seeing as you can fire ward out of it, it's looking likely, but I'd like to know for sure.

I know this will be downrated but one time I started jumping off buildings in Org until my health was at a few hundred, ran into a huge group of people and yelled ''For Allah!'' and activating the charge. Hade no affect on anybody but it made a cool visual effect and caused a argument for the next half hour on trade

These are actually pretty good for a retribution paladin, even in a PvE situation.

In addition to the obvious damage output, 1125 damage healed = 112.5 mana gained.

The mana it'd cost a raid healer to heal this is insignificant as you'd probably get a bounce off a chain heal or the left-over of Circle of Healing cast anyway.

Sure you can only use it once every 5 mins... but it's something.

As a prot paladin engineer, I like these. Primal Mana are easy enough to comeby using the mote extractor while flying around Netherstorm in my Roflcopter.

Pull 30 mobs, beat them all to near death, bubble (immune to recoil damage), pop sapper, /lol.

Beside the cost of mats, the concept behind this item ROCKs. Its centered on you so you don't have to aim that green circle around on pulls. Mind you, i'd still use the low lvl one for AOE pulls.

Best used in combo with TC and then you're set. will be enough agro before the cloth lock get some while he AOE

being a prot pally i don't worry at all about the little bit of dmg this causes. consecrate and follow it with this and i feel like i'm a mage wearing plate. i've hit somewhere around 14k threat in a second in kara just using this and consecrate. great to be used in bg's too. i usually BG as prot (no i can't dps for @#$% but i can have 4-5 melee guys beating me silly without much of a problem), and having this to slap them right before i die is hilarious. i've gotten at a minimum 10 HK's with this one item in a single BG alone. awesome way to go out with a literal bang.

Could be worth it in WSG when the opposing side zergs the flag. I'd prefer better land mines myself.

Edit: Actually it would be fun if a bunch of engineers with one of these would suicide bomb in the FR at WSG or during a major city raid.
