With the 2.3.2 buff, you actually can gain mana recasting the emerald (this would be a 10 minute period to see this gain)

The newest PTR push for the 2.3.2 patch has changed this gem again.

Before, it restored 1800 to 3000 mana per charge.
It now restores 2340 to 2460 per charge.

Over the long run it's the same thing (in both cases, the average restored would be 2400.) However, the newest spread is much more beneficial, as the gem can now be used sooner and with more reliability.

Currently in version 8970 of the PTR, Mana Emeralds do not disappear after 15 minutes logged out, unlike other "conjured" items. The spell tooltip has been rewritten to reflect this.

I would link Conjure Mana Gem (rank 5) and the highest rank of Conjure Water to illustrate that last point but I don't know how to link stuff in a post, sorry.

As it seems the Healthstone doesn't binds on pickup, the Mana Emerald does.

The 2 items even share cooldown. Ah never mind! Blizzard rly loves locks more then mages.
