The droprate on this has been significantly lowered since patch 1.09-1.10, probably because too many warriors had them. It's a great tank weapon and would be very nice to give warrs an attainable epic, like hunters/priests and their MC loot items.

This is not worth the trouble in my opinion...I farmed DM more hours than I can count and never saw it drop even once. If you have the money, it is a great sword like the above posters said, but don't plan on it dropping the first time you go in there if you want to farm it. Plus with timeworn mace you *should* be able to hold aggro in Molten Core. Once your guild gets into BWL Maladath or Spineshatter becomes available and you won't need Quel anymore.

I don't know, it seems as if maces are tough to tank with. Maybe its because most of them have a bit longer of an attack speed then most swords. Obvisouly Maladath is a good sword, and a good looking one at that, but usually if your nice rogues should get priority on it. There are quite a few nice swords and daggers for rogues in BWL though. (Dragonfang Blade), (Chromatically Tempered Sword). But as for the Quel'Serrar, if you have the time to farm it, then so be it. I as a tank would probably roll need on it, and then after winning it, get the urge to sell it for an epic mount or a few pieces of Fire Resistance gear.

Atlhough this is a great tanking sword, nowadays many high end guilds run hard, but to them easy, instances like MC and BWL and sell the items that drop. Unless you see one drop, you are better spending your money on a sword from MC or BWL.

Item droped for me while in group in Dire Maul, droped from Pusillins when you have to fight up , we had 2 Warriors in group and we are in the same guild. We both needed on the item as being only items for this. After I won this I spoke this over with him (btw he is the leader in the guild) and said me and him both are dec'd in Arms, and this book would only give us a sword (me) which i could prolly replace down the road with something better, as we are both in Arms. So I am now selling this book, profits are being split between me and him and the guild, to help other lv40s get their mounts when the time comes, if anyone is interested i am DaSeth on The Forgotten Coast msg me..

just looted this, i've been doing dire maul stealth boss runs for books, vendor loot etc, just as a nice money maker, this dropped of king gordok on the 13th kill

i've opened a few dusty tomes and yet to even find a class book in one of these, so i'd say your best chance of getting it is boss kills

For any warriors or paladins who, like me, vendored their Quel'Serrar when something better came along, but regret it and wish to get another, the quest cannot be done more then once.

After a few weeks of farming DM I finally got the book to drop, but it says "You have already completed that quest."

To the last few posters, not sure if this is related or can be related to this book but....

I have been running DM North for Steamwheedle rep and was recently able to turn in a second druid book ( I did the quest pre expansion) jsut a few days ago.

I had this drop for me on my 5th 4+ hour day from the last boss.

Perhaps the DM class books were reset? This is conjecture, but I know for a fact I completed the druid book once prior to BC.

All Shen'dralar quests were reset pre-TBC, not just the DM class books. Quite useful if you're grinding Shen'dalar rep ;)

I picked this book up for relatively cheap on the AH on Executus Horde a few days ago for my bloodelf pally. I know it's not a pally weapon, and that it's pretty crappy in comparison to what is in game now, with us on the verge of Wrath coming out.... but hey, it's for the experience!

I picked this book when BC launched for 50 gold, but never got the occasion to use it. I just put it at AH for 850 gold, thinking the price was too expensive. The book sold in about three minutes.

If you manage to find one cheap on the AH or as a drop, before you offload it for a bargain price give it a go at around 500 gold on the AH. I did and it sold within an hour!

There is still quite a few people who would pay a price just to have one of the best swords from classic wow, Onyxia is super easy now so it would make a fitting addition to your collection to your lawbringer armour!

I would have used it myself if i didnt need the money right there and then, i had this book in classic wow but never had the opportunity to kill onyxia. But maybe one day ill go and farm it and make up for lost time =D

I just got this today. I was paying someone 30g to run me through West DM so I can kill Tendris for my Epic Mount for my Paladin. It was my first time in DM and I spent a total of 15 minutes and it dropped off Tendris when we killed him. :D

Have looted this one twice the past week from a dusty tome and from Slip'kipin about 50 runs for the free knot quest. Sold both on AH for 650 and 700g kind of instantly.
I guess I have been very lucky with the drops, but they might have increased the droprate of these classic items since wotlk.

I went into Dire Maul on my hunter to farm leather and this dropped within 10 minutes of me being in the dungeon. I almost didn't loot it because I didn't know what it was. I guess I'm just super-lucky.

This book may cease to exist soon.

If you hold onto this book long enough, it's rarity is sure to up it's value.. possibly to extreme levels. This may be your last chance to collect it.. to sell or to keep. Make sure you do so soon or you may never have the chance again.

Went into DM today to try our luck with this book, wanting to get the sword on my warrior and my boyfriends paladin. It dropped off the second kill, of Hydrospawn which surprised us. This boss is not listed here on wowhead as having the book in it's loot table so we're unsure if maybe Blizzard increased the dropchance of this after anouncing the Onyxia move by adding it to more bosses. Who knows.

Anyway, spreading the word so others aiming for this book know to kill the bosses listed on wowhead as not dropping it too.

Confirmed on my warrior alt (level 74).
With effect from Patch 3.2.2 and the revamping of Onyxia, you can NO LONGER accpet the old quest from "Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying" and get the older version of Quel'Serrar. Now the new version of Quel'Serrar is only dropped by Onyxia.
What a waste they never change the quality of the book.

You can now read the book.

The book now makes some humours references to raiding. Probably going back to what Foror once said.

Something about bringing between 5 and 150 clerics.

And also a mention about displaying your "Phat lewt" for all to see after killing a boss.

When you read the page some of the letters in some of the lines are missing.

ya i think after u get this epic book to drop..u go turn it in and get some sword and u ahve to go kill onyxia and have her breath fire o nthe sword and then stab it in her dead body.. and u get that 52 dps epic sword... yep pretty sweet

I have this book. Found it in DM heading to the Captain. Thought about selling it - but I think that would not be a good idea. Turned it in - to start it. I'm pretty jazzed. Actually, the quest starts off by saying something about greed and how you could have sold it for a lot - lol.

Anyway - the quest is pretty damn near impossible. A lot is going to have to go right in order to get this one finished. And, a lot of effort. And I think the server you play on will play a bigger factor than anything else. That and how much in the loop you are.

Well worth it for either class if you ask me. And if you do not need it, you can always bank it for a toon or guild member who may need it down the road.

I didn't bother reading all your pointless garbage posts, but just in case anyone is still wondering how this book works, I'll explain.

First, you get the book. That's probably the hardest part right there, since it's such a fkn pain in the ass to get ahold of. It's sold on my server 4 times, each time for well over 1000g. (Yes, I know there are 3 0's there).

You then take the sword and equip it during an onyxia fight. You must be HIT by one of her Deep Breath attacks. Anyone who's ever fought onyxia just cringed when they read that.

It's an AoE funnel spell that's basically 2000 dmg every second. It HURTS. It's pretty much her "i win" button. Thankfully, she only casts it once or twice a fight, and only during stage 2, so it's easy to avoid. Just get your group on either side of the cave, and if you need to get hit, make sure a healers healing you.

After the sword has been properly "flamed", you have 20 minutes to kill onyxia.

If you have gotten onyxia to the point where she has deep breathed and 20 minutes expire before you see her at 0%, all 40 of you need to hearth and never ever ever go back. She should deep breath around 50%, and getting her to land is easy after that, then stage three needs to go by fast before she goes into uber dps mode anyway.

Once she's dead, right click her corpse to finish off the quest and TA-DA! You have the best 1h sword in-game.

first time in DM: Killed Pusillin and got the key, than went to DM west and the first boss we killed droped it. I was tanking as a pally, yes a pally, because we had no warrior and we did just fine. Fury generates enough threat to hold agro. I was with 4 Templars of Blood guild members, which is not my guild, and they let me have it. Props to all of them. Now for Onyxia. :P

Well ive been farming this book for about 3 weeks now, doing west, north, ALOT of east, then started farming Tomes in West (im a warrior). after about 3 days of farming the tomes I made around 700g selling the class books and this book dropped =)

You hear alot about ppl saying this book is so hard to find bla bla bla. but the ones who find it rarley post about it, so dont give up hope!

Crafted the sword the day after the tome was found =) laid it down at 15% then MT lost aggro on Onyx at 10%, luckily the aggro stealer turned out to be another warrior who taked her for the rest of the fight =D

The tomes are still around but they are rare. I normally only find one out of 10 runs or so if I am lucky in DM North. I've never found them in any other wing of DM but I'm not saying they don't exist there either. The tome I always find is where the King is at. Everytime I have opened the tome I get lint and some fishermans book. Worthless but thats ok. I finally broke down and bought the book from the AH.

3-4 full runs of west, north or east everyday and a few farming runs of the west bosses a day for the last month and almost 2 weeks. On weekends i run 8-10 hours of west and east boss farming runs. I have made over 1400g off the drops and shards i have won from randoming and still no drop. Im also going for bloodlords defender and it never drops either. 2 months since my guild has seen it drop. Its driving me crazy i cant get either of these 2 weapons.

This random drop and low drop rate BS blizzard pulls is just plain frustrating.

I have asked 3 other warriors in IF that have a QS and a few pieces of valor and not much else how they got it. All 3 said they got it on their first run in DM and had a friends guild help them kill onyxia. Meanwhile im putting in 4-5 hours a day everyday for over a month and i still dont have this sword. Just seems stupid to me. Blizzard needs to figure out a new method of distributing loot other then random drops.

DM West Tomes:

The solo farmable tome is in the very first courtyard, when u enter into the instance (the left door to DM west insatnce) walk over to the wall on ur left and look staright north.
Get a set of Ornate Spyglasses and use them in this position, press crouch button so u can get a better overview.
You will see 2 benches and 3-4 tree mobs walking around (tome guards) the tome is a red book lying on the ground where they walk, between the deer and bear statues. you WILL see it if its there (roughly 1/7 resets have it). If u cant even see the tree mobs u will have to turn your Terrain Distance up in the Video option a little.

when u see the tome, run to the tree mobs, avoiding all patrols, fear them and loot quick then haul ass out of the instance and reset it.

Dont even bother buying, the drop rates were increased greatly. So if you see it for more than 500g, screw it and just guild run it.

Got a group, the book dropped warrior needed and other greeded. The warrior won and I was cool with that, but since he didnt have onyxia prequest people said reroll. I also said it but wish I never did since he is my irl friend.

Anyway the priest won and now its on AH for 1000gold.
All in the group said warrior should get it but the priest wouldnt let it go so its at AH.

I dont like this situation and the warrior should get it not matter what its worth.

No. If you don't make it on Onyxia, and loose the Unfired Ancient Blade, you only have to abandon the quest, go back to The Athenaeum, and talk to the quest-dude again (and he will give you a new blade).

I'll be paying a visit to Onyxia in four days. Time to cash in for my Quel'Serrar.

Dropped off Hydrospawn btw. He also dropped an Ace of Elementals, and the blue necklace in his loot list, can't remember the name.

I was worried at first since I was in a pug, but no one else rolled on it, I think I said thank you about two hundred times.

For those of you who are still farming for it or farmed as long as I did or more, I feel your pain.

What ever guys, warriors always think that they're more needed in groups than pallies, but I can MT for most 5 man instances. I've MT several times for DM, and just today I MT UD strat, even though we had a warrior in the group. I'm GOING to roll on this if it ever drops, cause I use my 1h weapon and shield about 90% of the time.

Pally vs Warrior...who cares?...both are critical to success for a party or a Raid...

We killed warpwood about 50 times and he droped the foror's before his belt that our hunter needed so we all made fun of him about that :D

What do paladins use this sword for? The same thing warriors use it for. Tanking. Agreed, in an instance situation a warrior would get more use from it. But I'm sick of people saying "why do pallies need that?" "why the f--- did that pally get that item?" We are plate wearing melee classes as well. I'm sick of gimping my paladin because people are unwilling to believe that we need good gear beyond healing and mana. I solo alot, gathering resourses, soloing quest ect, ect, and I would really like a weapon that helps me dish out some damage so it doesnt take 20 minutes to kill one infernal. I tried using a 2hander (peace keeper) but I need the block and armor from the shield too much for the pole arm to be viable. I'm also sick of the argument: "if you want to do dmg roll a warrior! zomfgnoob!" No. I like playing the pally, I like to support my group and guild by healing and buffing and off tanking when it's necessary. But like I said, in a soloing situation I want to do as much damage as I can so it doesnt take forever to kill one mob. BTW I got the book on my second DM run off of the Magistrate. The warrior in the group already had it, and I was the only other one who could have used it.

What's the standard if this drops in PuG?

I mean, you obviously have a tank, which is most likely warrior, but the item isn't bind on pick, it's not even bind on equip or bind on use.

If it's a guild run the guild will already have already chosen whatever they feel like but if it drops in a PuG anyone in the group could grab it and sell it for the load of gold it sells.

The frigeen thing does not bind so you cannot "demand" that the person equips it on site to soulbind it instead of selling it at AH.

What to do? All roll and if the warrior wants it he'll have to buy it from whoever won the roll?

Hey all - I'm an officer in my guild and we've set up a sink fund for our 60s to donate money towards the purchase of this for our MC MT, Zackie.

I now have enough g to make what I would deem to be a fair offer. Unfortunately, some loon on our server thinks he can sell it for 3000g... :/ Good lcuk to him, I'm not touching it lol.

It dropped in my guildie's DM run but some gold farmer named Moreintine from our realm ninja looted it, and sold it at the auction house after. How does Blizzard catch gold farming? Is there a way to catch these gold farmers and get them banned?

To go on from this post :

I just want to put in my two cents here. The best time to drop the sword is when onyxia is around 10% health at the Main Tanks feet so it will get breathed on. 10% health with 25 or more people still alive and an out of combat rezzer is an assured victory unless someone gets tail whipped into the welps. Phase 2-3 transition is when you lose a lot of folks so if the sword is down and you wipe, you are out of a sword untill 5 days untill the instance resets.

So I am a 60 Pally, and I'm planning on getting Quel'serra for my build (have a skullflame shield, and want this to use when I'm off-tanking). But I'm concerned that if I try to get this as a drop, everyone in the group will just give me grief about needing on it (cus it's so valuable in the AH). So I'm wondering if I should bother trying to get the drop, or just try to buy one.

Got mine today (5th november 2005) in a DM North run killing all bosses from King Gordok, I did about 450 runs between Farming Kalendris/Warpwood, DM East runs killing all bosses, DM Tribute runs, full DM West runs and he droped today 5 months after I started to farm it, soo just don't give up and kill as many bosses as you can, the book will drop!

I had this drop about 2 or 3 months ago during a DM North run off of Guard Slip'kik. I rolled need and another Hunter(chinese farmer) rolled need. He rolled a 72 and I rolled a 16(yes, i still remember the exact rolls). I hoped he was just joking around at first so I opened trade with him to give it to me since I needed it. He wouldnt give it to me or even say anything. I tried to give him gold for it but he wouldnt take it.

After about 5 minutes of me trying to convince him to give it to me and some guild members yelling at him in party chat, he hearthed to Org.
A few of my other guild members got together and we put our gold together to try to buy it off of him, but he wouldnt take the money and would not say anything. Soon after he logged.

I was extremely pissed for a while. But now I have Bloodlord's Defender and am working on the Thunderfury questline(may take while though lol).

Guildie just scored it in DM-W farming run, We had 2 warriors and a paladin, all guildies and a non guildy priest.

Paladin was afk for 30 minutes so he didnt get his roll, first boss farming run to start it off and he won it!

Grats <Name removed cause you guys spammed him to much> lucky bastard :D

Bit of a shame to me cause I've been farming this mofo for damn near 5 months off and on.. but meh what can you do!

i remember we were farming for mindtap talisman for a couple of runs and got one from our first tree-boss kill and then when we reseted, and were joking about how it will drop again now, it actually did =) though this happened in december 2005 its still some great memories
ps. at the time we got em sold for 1400g and 1600g (epic mounts for the whole group ;O since we had a druid tank ^^)

I've got one on my level 60 pally, warriors need to stop crying about it. It's not "The best tanking sword in the game", Thunderfury, or Maladath are better choices ( while yes Quel IS "easier" to get as you don't need to be killing broodlord for it. It's a great solo weap ( I'm not a fan of 2h weapons on my paladin ) and awesome for PVP/Duels. It's a great weapon for both sides for non-raiders and raiders alike.

would be nice if somebody would give some actual information about the book in stead of argueing what class is better in tanking...

I play horde side so I don't know who's better in tanking.. what I do know is that pally's CAN heal / dispell. and warriors CAN use taunt / generate quick aggro.

but pls post some information about what you can do with it? just get the QS sword? It dropped and me and a friend of me are selling it for little price to my guildleader since my friend isn't in the guild and he actually won the roll.

I've farmed the DM first gaurd (Mol'Dar) 150 times in the last 3 days (May 10-12) and not even a trinket book.

I'm beginning to wonder if the books only drop off the observer/king since the last patch.

Finally got this sweet QUEST today.

I have done aprox. 30 DM full runs + alot of eastern quick 3 bosses runs.

Funny thing is it wasnt my group who looted it today it was 5 other guildies there was there at the same time @ us.

The gave me the Q after the run and i gave them all i little present to ;)

It droped in western inst.

Is it actually true that if you die on onyxia then you have to get another book. If that is true then OMG.

I know that drops for the eye of shadow has been increased with the latest patch, it might be the same thing for mature blue dragon sinews and this book. I've been seeing 3-4 and sometime 5 of those at AH at same time on my server (deathwing). The server pop is not that high, we only get a 20 queue at peak times.

They are selling between 1500 and 2000g

please post any info you know about the increase in drop of this

im a druid, and i got this book, its a funny story actually

i was in DM, like anyone else gettin pre-mc gear, but i was in east farming for living essence

i was in a group and this dropped, it was on master loot so we all greeded it, i won the roll, and the leader was said some bull!@#$ like, wait that was a messed up roll we need to do it again, and i was like bull^&*!, so we rolled again, and i won it anyway

if i could have done a backflip i would have done one right there, but anyway, i made the mistake of telling my guild about it, adn they were like, u need to give it to one of the tankin warriors for the good of the guild, and i was like &*!@, i shouldnt have opened my damn mouth about it, so, anyway, instead of gettin 900 gold for it, which it was being sold for on my server at the time, the MT in my guild bought it off my for 500 gold

which gave me enough to buy my epic mount with like 300 gold left over, it was a good day indeed

before i get flamed let me also clear some stuff up

there was no warrior there to roll for it, or i would have never even rolled in the first place, second, since im a proud member of the horde, there was no gay ass pally there (i dont know y pallys get to have this anyway, it isnt like they would put it to good use).

just proves even more that i got extremely lucky that day

I agree with Aigeuswow on this. Just because pallies don't tank in MC, doesn't mean this isn't a good weapon for us. Personally, if I ever get this book, I'll do the quest and get the sword. And any tank that doesn't like it, can get bent. If you don't win the roll, that's life. Go back and try again.

Get book (the hard part imo)
talk to guy in the Athenaeum, he gives you a sword.
Have onyxia breathe flame on the sword, after this you have 20 mins to kill her and then "use" the heated sword on her.
After this return it to the guy in DM and recive your reward.

Oh and the book is not rare, far too many have it sitting in their bank waiting for help with onyzia, just wait till more hits 60 and gets the gear for onyxia then this sword will be all over the place

I admit, it is a better sword for warriors than pallys. Let's face it my fellow light bringers, there are other weapons out there that better enhance our survival abilities. For instance, anything that increases our intel or the amount we heal. And like it or not, 90% of the time our function in a group is to heal. Were this to drop and I was the only eligible person, I would most definitely try to get the sword. However, I will not take this out of the hands of a warrior whose primary job is to tank and keep the aggro away from the less durable healers. They need it. We just want it. If you take this out of a warrior's hands because you are greedy and not thinking of long term strategems, I can do nothing but shake my head at you.

ok... so my the thing that ive been doing to farm this book is killing tendris warpwood and the magister really close to him and then reseting the instance. This takes 10 mins or less per run. So far i havent had any luck... i get ppl to grp with me who dont have thier dm trinket and arent warriors/pallys or have the book already. Im kinda wondering if it would be better to do DM north non-tribute runs or dm east runs... really ive been farming this book for 3 weeks now and still havent seen it drop but this is my new method and have done it 2 nights in a row. If anyone has any suggestions leave a msg here or pst deathtyrant on the eldre'thalas server... and to you other guys.. gl and i mean it.. farming this book is the pits \=

All this fighting over this sword and its not even that great. Sure its a nice weapon when you start MC but after that you get better and its a waste. It's for paladins or warriors, everyone is so greedy. Paladins can go get a better weapon, the AQ exalted 1 hand mace, Aurastone, Bloodcaller, or Jindo's are all good for guilds in zg or mc and warriors can get bloodlords or their own AQ exalted 1hand axe. Ya getting to exalted is alot of work, but so is farming money or farming this book

ok..ive read all the posts and i have to say to all of you pallys out there for the love of god plz dont roll a need if it drops if you have a warrior tanking in your group. this is a high end tanking wep used pretty much up to naxx. It's true that a pally can tank but there style if much more differnt then a warrior's you want a 1h that give +to healing and magical effects and a sheild that regenerates mana and give +int and +sprit. In the more end game raids a warrior will be your only hope of tanking for ZG,MC,ony,BWL,ect...If your tank has it then feel free to take it.

i dunno, i can't help but think there is more to it. Everyone i know has either farmed 100+ times and not gotten the drop, or got it in under 10 tries. I've not heard many people say "I farmed 100+ runs and FINALLY got it." Is there some posibility that there is some sort of factor needed to get this to drop, like Deathcharger from Baron Rivendare, you gotta have at least one person exalted with AD, so the numbers on thott and allakhazam are skewed with all those who kill him without the rep.

Is there any sort of rep or prereq quest you have to do before this can drop? Personally i fall into the category who's been 100+ times and never seen it, and am hoping that we are just missing something, rather than just having worthless luck.

Anyone with any info or experimentation, let me know

Dropped on my very 1st Tribute run and was in the Tribute chest. I was the only warrior present in a guild only group and took it because no one else was eligible.

Had no idea it was the Quel'Serrar book till a guildie checked it out on the web. Guess i am one of the lucky ones.

For u warriors that keep on whining about this being a warrior and not a paladin thing. U are WRONG. If we look at what blizzard them self say about the paladin class, they say that the paladin is PRIMARILY melee as well as a support class. Hence, once u wipe we need something decent to clean up the mess u leave behind. And don't give me that crap about the stats. We all know that stamina is for ALL classes, especially paladins, warriors who are the tank/cleaners in the game. And before u start whining about the defense and armor, HELLO, we can use shield and extra armor and dodging/parrying never hurt anyone, so Shut ya piehole cause the next warrior to complain will be a big dumbass and we all know u wouldn't want to be that would you.

This dropped yesterday. There was no warrior in the group. I am a 60 pally and when i saw the book I was so excited because I was the only person that could use it in the group. I was so surprised when everyone rolled Need on it. A druid won the book. He has a 60alt warrior alt and said he would give the book to his alt. In my opinion, his alt was not in the group so I should have first priority to have the book. The other classes needed so they could give to their guild warriors or sell it. Does anyone else think that this was wrong? I agree that the sword would be better in the hands of a warrior or MT, but as a pally I would love to have this sword becuase I often use the sword and shield combo as an off-tank when I am in a group if I am not needed for main healing. I feel that the rest of the group were ninjas for Needing this item. Let me know your opinion.

by all means if u buy the book then fair play, but if u outroll a warrior on it saying u need it ........ :S

I'm on horde side, so im lucky theres no stupid pallys :D
But still i suffer from hearing that paladins outroll warriors on this book.
Lets see, a warrior (like me) would use this sword 99.9% of the time playing, while a paladin would use it just a few times a week(maybe not even that much). So all you paladins really should pass, if a warrior needs it.

Why is this thing so stupidly rare?

It doesn't reward dedication, you can easily spend a week of your life doing this dungeon nonstop and never see it drop let alone some of the other blue books.

This level of rarity only rewards the dumb luck of some ass who's going to put it up on the AH for 1,000g (and I'll then buy it too)

I went into a group looking for a Tank for DM East. I whispered them "I'll go becuase I want my Compendium of Dragon Slaying" So we go, we take the shortcut and kill hydrospawn and guess what he dropped! I was like "OMG N N N !" right away everyone passes right away except the hunter. He wanted us to sell it and split the gold :'( i was like "BUT I CAN USE THIS!" finally he passed and i won with a roll of 24 :D
Once I turn 60 I am getting my Quel'serar my guild is in the process of defeating Onyxia they can get her down to 35% before they wipe.

I'm a 60 Warrior and i've been farming this book for about 2months now still not dropped yet, but i'm not going to argues the point between a palli rolling on this as well as me because I agree that a Pali has some use for it (not in an instance run) for soloing but lets face the facts, if a warrior needs this item they should get to pick it up first then the pallies if the warriors don't need them. If none of the warriors or pallies need it then I would say FFA. Well i'm going to go have some fun and hopefully this book will drop for me.

I got a 60 warrior on skullcrusher named kitsun and im currently farming for this.

For all the pallies who roll need just ask for all the +defence gear they already have. A warrior could go all strength/stamina gear for dps just like pallies can go +intel and +healing. If they say they left all that gear in the bank just laugh and take the book. before you know it there gonna leave the sword in the bank too. If i meet a paladin who actually needed it i wouldnt be pissed it he actually won it. Id just think it a waste. No taunt = no tank in my book. And using it in duels just shows the rest of the world that you got problems.

Always go ML your mildly retarded if you expect people not to ninja.

This MEANS that Paladins and Warriors can use it. Enough said. So my question is, "Why would Warriors care about a Paladin needing on it, if the item specifically says they can use it?"

Answer: B/c Warriors are the largest Loot-Hogs in tHE GAME! Go do MC (which can be just about 10 manned now up to Domo) and get some good gear, and Kwitcher$%^&*in over this little toy of an epic.

I cant believe i still read this argument all the time...pallies just heal ...warriors just say that because they cant, and any attempt by a pally to infringe upon thier one and only job makes a warriors penis shrivel. Are warriors better at tanking Big Instance boss mobs , yes ... who picks up the adds? can a warrior compete with getting AE aggro on mobs with a pallie , no!...so how how come a sword that procs a armor buff isnt for them also..get real...if protection specced and with righteous fury maxed , pallies now have 6% more damage mitigation than b4 ..that may not sound like alot to you, but enchanted with a lifesteal proc and a pally using seal of light ,you would be surprised how long they stay upright. Furthermore, people can play thier classes any way they wish...i know for a fact as a 100% protection specced paladin that i out tank many fury /arms warriors...as i have been grped with them and watch them lose aggro over and over, and guess who comes in and saves the day...paladin. Would i ever roll on a shield with just stam str and agility with warrior in grp if he needed , no , i wouldnt ..but thats because im nice and i can benefit from other shields with intell, but a sword ffs..every melee class needs one ...are pallies only supposed to take the real low dps ones with intell and spirit ad plus healing on them ..hell no ..ill sacrafice 12 intell +20 healing for +15 dps and and a 300 armor bonus proc anyday

Hell, I for one am happy that its for warriors and paladins, me? im a priest.... I own 5 of these books, and the reason im happy its for both classes means its just easyer to sell lol.... I love shouting WTS the book, I get at least 6 tells everytime, price on my server ( Vek'nilash) currently is about 800 ish, but nobody likes that it is that high, im guessing in about a month it will go to 1200 ish

Paladins nead every thing if its + healing a paladin goes i nead it for my healing kit ! even if its cloth , leather , mail . Plate they all want it .
and if its a good weapon me me me. shield me me me.

Second why in gods name you need a shield for?
iF you use it your a dumb paladin or you have bad tanks.
Paladins are off tanks, off healers and DPS with a 2H

Ever bin to the big instances? no pala uses a shield.

get your self a nice 2h weapen and do damage

I was in a pick up group for Dm West. We killed Warpwood and this dropped. So, of course the Warrior gets the book.

Sometime later, maybe a week I get in another pick up group, with the same warrior and we do a Tribute run. We kill the King and he drops the book. And the Warrior wins the greed roll. Lmao.

If you include west Kalendris farming runs, I am easily over the 500+ runs.

For some odd,"very sad" reason, of which i dont know, it just wont drop.

I see everyone in freaking IF with one, and some if not most say that they got it on just thier first few runs.

As a level 60 paladin, I have been deprived of Draconian Deflector because it 'has +defence and paladins never need shields'. They said that if Aegis of the Bloodgod dropped, it would be the same. Honestly...this thing drops pretty often now.
Price dropped from 2000g to 1000g...there are 2 or 3 in the AH every day.

Maybe it's the new Eye of Shadow. If you begin to farm now you can become very, very rich :D

In my opinion, paladins really shouldnt be allowed to roll on it. I mean, sure, its a good dps weapon.. but what paladin ever tanks in Molten Core? =/.

Secondly, i'd like to groan about the price of these things. They really aren't worth the 1500g they are being sold at. Why not just go to Zul'Gurub and pick up a Bloodlord's Defender instead? It really doesnt make sense..

OMG i am so tired of all you warriors whining about paladins being able to use this weapon. If a paladin is allowed to wield a one handed sword, then they should be allowed to roll on any sword or take any sword that they can, and since no swords in game have any pally stats on them, this is the only epic one hand sword a pally can have, unless they grind silithus for 3 months and get the sword from that quest. So give us pallies a break, its not like we only heal things. We also solo in our spare time and we need decent weapons to do it. Did you know that paladins are tanks when they solo? and they are also healers. So we have the most difficult job out there. So stop your frickin complaining!

This is one of the best tanking weapons (FOR WARRIORS) IN THE GAME. You dont exactly need the quel sarrar, niether do you need a shield like bloodgod. Tanks need them way more then you, and you owe it to them that they use all their cash on trying to get this sword, without them you probably wouldnt ever even get a chance to see something like the aegis of the bloodlord drop!

And just because you can weild it, dosnt meen you have a right to get something.

Yesterday this thing dropped in DM east, i was the only warrior so i rolled "need" on it. and the paladin say he needs it too, so he rolled " need" too, so it was a fair roll, then after i was gonna buy it off him, and he said he was gonna give it to his guild's MT, or sell it on the AH< i was like wdf : are u like abusing the system" u only roll need when u need it, and not for money or give it to someone eles . and i was there and i needed it .

AND THAT SWORD IS A WARRIOR SWORD< PALADIN CAN GET THOSE ONES THAT + intellect, spirit, and all those other crap, or mana generation

+ defense and armor is for tanking not healing <>

Well it must be said and i dont give a rats ass what u pali's "think", true you get a protection tree and you make decent tanks in 5-10 man INSTANCES. Probably with the exception of Baron, Scarlet-Strat and Scholo, palis can generate the most threat....2 problems. 1) Palis use this thing called mana to tank, it regenerates at a rate FAR slower than rage, and once its gone...yeah, where as warriors constanly generate rage, not to mention abilites and taunts that instanly diverts agro to us. 2) When the heck have you EVER seen a pali MT MC, BWL, Naxx......never! Learn you role and shut ur mouth, im arms furry and i can easily take tha aggro of palis and druids. In end game palis are off healers, decursers, and seldomly damage dealers. Sure before that you can do whatever but in end game, know ur role or roll a different class. Oh and FYI i have a pali and i would NEVER think of rolling against a warrior for it, if i ever won it with him I'd put it up on AH. (and im sure some palis are gunna get all butt hurt and cry sayin dood ur a noob stfu we have tank tree, well MT Rag, Nef, Ony and end game and we'll talk)

I'm so fecking sick of every time I check an item which both pallies and warriors can use, all the comments I find is argues between pallies and warriors. Look, endgame: Pallies heal, otherwise, they can rape as much baron Riverdare as they want. Warriors tank or dps at endgame. Pallies just heal.

wow alot of QQ'ing goin on.

First off- Druids tank better then both pally & warrior but they dont get a weapon for it (quest wise) - think on that-

Second- If you think just cause a class has a healing spell that automatically makes them a healer- you're a noob and need to L2play. Theres a reason blizz made *3* talent trees for every class. L2usethem. I've seen Pally's MT in raids from ZG all the way up to and beyond Gruul. So yes, not just warriors can tank. I have a Pally, I have a Druid and a Warrior. I've seen all sides of the tanking spectrum.

Third- Get over it. If you lose the roll to a pally, its not the end of the world, the game will go on I promise you. Go level to 70 and get a better one. That simple.

just droped for me lvl 60 paladin

didenk even know what it what when it dropped

came out of a dusty tomb

So 1 minute you're just doing a regular bossrun for some shards for Silithus bosses, then the next on the final run Alzzin drops a Foror's Compendium :)

Gonna get the blade on our next Onyxia kill, still a nice upgrade to Bloodlord's Defender imo, plus I'm very much hoping for an upgrade quest in due time :))

first off its not like its BOP and everyone needs money my god freakin ass stupid if u say blahblah pressed need on this and hes not a war/pally first off its BOE everyone should press need on BOE epics to avoid ninjas and its 1.1k gold well average next part is hmm are u saying if a random epic drops and its BOE some other place and you would just give it to someone you dont know for free dont freakin think so you'll fing roll even if you dont need it $%^& how stupid are you if you really want it and dont want to fing roll go run in guild dumb @#$%s my god...

im farming gold... because some body's gonna throw it up on AH for a 1500 bid and 2000 b/o and i MIGHT just go crazy and buy it... ya.. i need like 1400 more gold though :D come on BOE epics... drop for me!

Looted one of these from the red books you can find in Dire Maul, didn't have to roll for it when I looted it (since the little books on the floor act like chests) so watch out for ninjas or people waiting until everyone leaves to get the books. Must be extremely rare since I haven't heard of many people getting it from those books.

in classic the price really varies from server to server.
in Shazzrah-horde (EU) the book only cost like 7 gold
in Pyrewood village-Alliance (EU) they go for 250g
and Hydraxian Waterlords-alliance (RP EU) they go for 1k.
