Considering that many retroactive achievements were given based on whether you had loot from a specific boss, it would not be unreasonable to assume that the quest reward might give you the achievement. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have happened--hopefully it will be patched before the next Lunar Festival.

I don't have my lantern any more, but have the achievement, so I've no clue how it's tracked.

I have the lantern from Lunar Festival 2005, however I did not do the Elune quest any subsequent years. Or was 2006 the first year? That point doesn't matter, but the fact I didn't do the lamp quest the subsequent years is probably why I don't have this achievement, but I DO have the elders of horde/alliance/kalimdor/eastern kingdoms and the vanilla dungeons done.

If you have the lantern from a previous year make sure you destroy it before you complete the quest...otherwise you'll get a Duplicate Item Found error and not be able to finish the quest till you do.

Get the quest from Valadar Starsong he is at 53, 35 in Moonglade. The quest can be shared.

Summon Omen around 65, 58

Note that you don't need to have killed Omen yourself to complete the quest, after he is dead there will be a beacon of light on him, stand in the beacon and the quest will complete.

Please note that if you do intend to kill Omen, you will need a raid group, 10-15 is usually sufficient, with a couple of healers and you WILL need a tank of some sorts. His overall damage isn't too bad, but he does use a starfall AoE attack occasionally. He has 5.5 million health.

Your reward for completing the quest is Elune's Lattern which makes an Elune Stone with a 24 hour cooldown. You'll also receive a ton of fireworks, and of course, 10 achievement points.

For this achievement the raid I happened to be with only had 1 healer and no real tanks in the mix. So when everyone lost aggro from dying ,unfortunately, Omen came to me. So I tried something that hasn't been tried with him before, I started kiting him with my hunter. There was a fountain that was kind of near where he was at so I decided since it was so big and had obstacles around it was a good place to keep him running around. If you are facing Omen the fountain is directly behind him to the northeast just south of the borrow dens. I was able to get away from him fairly easy with cheetah on, and had enough time to turn around to shoot off 2 shots before I had to resume running again. I did run out of mana a several times, and I was still able to use viper to regenerate some mana before he even got near me. After I regenerate a good amount of mana back I would switch to Cheetah again.
It took a while since we only had close to 20 people in the raid but he did go down with ease, and the shards that he casts were never a case of being dazed. So all in all if you can't find a tank have a hunter that knows how to kite and you can kill Omen with out have to heal the hunter very often.

To summon Omen you must throw rocket clusters into both the cluster launchers at the same time.

If your guild is offline or you are not part of a guild and you want this achievement, it's fairly simple to get it without evening fighting Omen, even if your realm is overrun by members of the opposing faction. All you have to do is ride into the light of his corpse after he's been killed.

My realm is heavily weighted towards the Horde and I'm Alliance. I did not want to bother my guild to come out and get me the achievement as they were busy with other things. So I went to Moonglade and hid in the hills to the south of Omen's stomping grounds. There are ruins, hills and trees you can hide in and also see Omen from. With max viewing distance enabled, you can see him, plus you can hear him.

So if you AFK and watch TV with your sound on, you will hear him when he's summoned and you will hear him while he's fighting. You will not see the members of the opposing faction killing him which is a plus because they will not see you. So you can simply select Omen and watch his health go down.

When he's dead, make sure you're careful not to be seen by the other faction. Sneak up to where you can see the Horde around his corpse, but not be seen by them. Use the terrain and camera angle to your advantage. You should be able to watch the combat log if you can't see them from where you're hiding and watch as they mount up, kill deer, etc. I believe you have approximately 5 minutes during which you can ride up to his corpse and into the light and after a second, obtain Elune's Blessing and complete the achievement.

Be careful riding back to Nighthaven to turn in the quest if you just watched the other faction kill Omen. They'll usually hang out for a bit and then scatter. However, they sometimes get irked if they know you freeloaded off their kill. ;)

You dont really need to kill Omen.
I joined a raid to kill him once, but a Horde raid was before us. When they were done, we found out you could just walk under the light on Omens corpse, and you will recive Elunes Blessing.
