On the contrary... I've fought through this area for a good hour, killing upwards of 50 and not one has dropped... Would love other suggestions.

another lil surprise the infernal sentrys also found in the area of the infernal body guards also drop core of earth. so dont just look for the bodyguards but the sentrys aswell

These aren't a fast drop at all, I got sick of it after 30 mins then went to silithus to farm desert rumblers and wow 3 core of earths dropped in 20 mins. best area to farm top north west.

For Core of Earth, the drop rate is very bad. Spend at least two hours with them and only 1 drop.

There are four in total, inculding Infernal Sentrys, in the area. Suggest kill the Entropic Beasts and Entropic Horrors for Essence of Fire while at it.
