She's really cute cat. I have Humar on my 47 Belf hunter on Khaz Modan, but I never see anyone with her.

I guess I keep checking a few times a day for her. Maybe I'll run into her. =D

And it only took me two days. =D I logged my hunter in Alterac and checked every few hours. Now she is Feathersong stabled with my dear little Shadowflame (Humar). Around 10:00 server time. Khaz Modan. Good luck!

I've always been the rare cat hunter and always wanted to tame them all. I totally forgot about this cat until yesterday when I was looking to see if there was any new pets for WOLK. Then I remembered this cat.. and I never tamed her before. So last night I sought out to get her. I camped my hunter where she spawns and ran back and forth looking for her. No luck! I decided to leave my hunter there and try the next day. This morning I got up about 5 or so minutes before my alarm off and I walked to the first cliff and didn't see her. I walked up to the second cliff about 38.5, 91.4 and there she was. It was at 5:36AMst (pst) and before I knew it, she was mine.

With WotLK coming out, Araga will be the only rare cat with a unique skin - a lvl 76 cat will have the same skin as Humar.

Just tamed this cat at 5:35AM Boulderfist (US) server time. Easiest way to get Araga is wait until 24 hours after a server restart (something mentioned by BuNsiE above). For me, she spawned about 24 hours 10 minutes after the server went live. Used the "/tar Araga" macro in addition to Track Beasts; found her patrolling The Headland, just west of the fallen log. If you don't use the macro, she's fairly easy to recognize, as her mane is darker than the other mountain lions.

I'm a level 70, so no problems taming. If you're closer to Araga's level, definitely recommend clearing the area first, as it can get fairly dense with mountain lions. Good luck!

I am thanking my lucky stars at the moment as I just stumbled across this lovely lady by accident while leveling my cooking skills! I immediately dumped my poor faithful raptor and snapped her up with a tame/freezing trap combo. At level 41, there was no problem with aggro from the other mobs--nice, quick and easy.

I got lucky and managed to tame her after about a couple hours of waiting on Dragonmaw. Currently she's a level 45 and I love her to death. However, I liked her more so because of the stripes on her tail. That's why I wanted her to begin with.

Though for those of you complaining that she isn't unique. Well she's one of a kind in game due to her skin. Even if it IS the regular Barrens lion skin on a simple cat model. A lot of hunters enjoy going out of there way for something special such as Araga, Unk'loc and for BMs the the Tan Silithids (Since 1 is a Rare Spawn and the rest are in AQ) and the ever present and ELUSIVE Loque'nahak the Spirit Beast.

I myself, as a hunter find the challenge of finding and taming a pet to be more the game. I could care less what other people say, if my pet is something unique to me then I love it all the more. So these rare and unique skins are win worthy.

Edit: And also for the other more, rare BM pets Oozeworm and Grubthor are also top in that hard to find, I want to get annoyed in finding these things pets (As I've never seen either in my searches)

Just tamed her around 8pm sever time, at (30,73)... As people have said, she is the only unique cat left, although she shares her skin with the Barrens lions; her skin is "lionessskingold" on the tiger model in the Model Viewer.

She's very worth it--a very pretty cat, and one I've never seen anyone else with. Named mine Ayla. :)

Whats so special about this lion? I accidently killed it when i farmed lion meat to lvl up my cooking. Then i noticed it was rare, but you dont get any achivement for it and it only drops greens. Nothing worth searching for...

i went looking for araga on my 36 hunter and found her right away me and my 2 buddies all have her and she was in the same psot each time but yes the wait can be long but i was lucky but yea each time she spawned at 30.5 72.5

This is a weird looking cat.
Sorta Tazmanian markings.
Looks to be similar to Hulking Mountain Lion.
Found him on slope between Growless Cave and the Internment Camp.
Speed 1.4, Dmg 32-41, Power 118, Dmg/Sec 26.3

Although I'm 38, I've tried going after this pet. She is so hard to find I've given up completely. Not long though till I have a wider choice of ets at 40+. I would still like to have this pet anyway.... she looks pretty XD

As of late I've been playing on my level 40 Night Elf Hunter, Drakkena on the Uther server (Normal) and I haven't seen this cat EVER since I dinged 35. I want her just because I've NEVER seen her before on any of the hunters or characters I've played.

Does anyone know if she is still ingame? Or did they nerf her right on out of existance? I know she's not as awesome without the striped tail (It's a shame they docked it) but she's still worth the effect in a very rare pet that you don't normally see on ANYONE.

Yes, I have Humar the Pridelord, black lions are awesome and all but I just want Araga. And if you really like the 'rarer' pets, I've got one of the starter area BE cats (The Orange Lynx) on my level 15 Draenei hunter. Took the long run from wetlands to Eastern Plaguelands just to get there, so if you're up for something REALLY rare to the alliance. Go tame a Springpaw or Dragonhawk from the BE's and get quite a few stares.

I found her a while back, and instantly fell in love with her. She's very unique, and because I've always been a fan of the cats on WoW, she's one of the special pets I have in my stable. (I’m currently looking for Cliff Jumper, so she’s parked there for a bit. X3)

Though it took me about a week to get her, on and off checking her spawn points, it was still such an accomplishment. Now that I have her, I've run into Araga in the wild once already--she isn't too hard to find, I located her near the first cliff I believe, the one with a fallen log. She's distinctly noticeable with her dark mane, so it won't be hard to know its her when you stumble upon her.

Easiest way to be sure you’ll find her is to make the Macro. /target araga
It worked wonders for me!

If you want this pet, I say go after it. She wasn't too hard to level, since I got her around 39-40. There aren’t really a lot of traffic around her spawn points, at least not when I was around, so checking sporadically throughout the week should be good enough.

Araga was an interesting one to get. The first time I'd ever seen him in game is when my husband was helping me with a quest to kill the yeti in the cave north of Corrahn's Dagger. He killed Araga by mistake. So when I made a Hunter, I decided to try finding her again.

To my dismay, a Warlock was farming the two plateaus that Araga spawns on and he was there for the entire day. Turns out he was botting. I still camped Araga for a few hours hoping to tame her before the Lock killed her, but she never spawned.

The following day, the Warlock is still there farming the two plateaus and I thought my chances of Araga being there were zero considering the Lock was there. But I still decided to check just in case Araga had spawned after the Lock had left one of the plateaus.

She wasn't on either one and my only hope was that she spawned in her third location behind the two plateaus. I didn't hold my breath, though, and decided to just cut my losses and forget about her, but I still used Eagle Eye on that location. And boom! There she was! I was so thrilled, my heart was racing! What were the odds she'd spawn in the one spot the Warlock wasn't farming? Well, I hardly cared. All I cared about was laying down a Freezing Trap and taming her before anyone came along and killed me or her.

So now Araga is my new pet and I fully intend on using her all the way up to 70. The screenshot above is me and her next to an Orc Hunter with his mountain lion. It's a good comparison between Araga and the lions she spawns around.

Just tamed her on Doomhammer realm at about 10:00 pm server time (my heart is still racing as I type this..lol). She was located in the north-most circled area on the map, near Gavin's Naze. Like other posters, I wasn't sure I would see her because the area is so heavily farmed and I had tried with other hunters to no avail. Stay persistent; she IS out there!

Some people don't know how to tell the difference between Araga (The level 35 Rare which I just tamed today) and a typical Mountain Lion (Lion Skinned) Cat up there.

1) She has more white in her face and her fur is darker brown on her face than the mountain lions.

2) She has a darker brown set in 'mane' almost like the male lions from Barrens. But her mane is more set into the skin (No mane at all)

After almost a year of tolting after this feline I FINALLY found her at 5:30am, Central time. She was located on the gray hill in the first location on the map and god was she worth it.

I earlier tamed BT, another cat I have yet to find until just recently. I will be keeping both, but Araga just looks so much more kick ass than Broken Tooth now ;.;

After she is Tamed they revert to the 'Cat' name and are then named by another player to whatever they wish. That is why many find it confusing to tell the difference.

I didn't mean for before a hunter tames or someone SEES the name as 'Araga' but after she is tamed and given a chosen name by a hunter.

Maegwyn....if you c this or any body...if you are saying its not worth it and you've been camping 4ever....dont give up...keep trying...this cat has an awsome aggro and the attack is better...if you give up then fine but this cat is real good...kill every thing in the headlands and keep doing that...she spawns on the little hill there...the headlands is where i got mine and i havent been on my guy(Khellendroid) but with a BM spec and some runns through SM i can own some of the 49 twinks in the BG's with this cat...so what im saying is...DON'T GIVE UP KEEP TRYING SHE IS WORTH THE PAIN OF GRINDING FOR HER....if you have any details or want help...my guys are....Khellendroid(Azjol'nerub) and my pally Wield(Dentarg)...both Horde...just pst me saying you want some help with Araga and ill come down and help you out...i promiss...thnx

I found her at 10:30 pm server time azuremyst realm at cords 29,73

Had been farming the lions up in Alterac Mountains on my level 70 hunter with three friends.
Around two hours into searching I got bored, tamed a trash pet and named it Araga. Tricked one of my friends by doing this, and about 3min after my other friend typed in Araga in caps. I went over, thinking he was trying to fool me, but caught a glimps of this beautiful cat.
I am now a proud owner of Araga, level 46 atm, and I am planning on keeping her. Kept the name, but im a bit upset that she doesn't have her stripes anymore.
All you hunters out there looking for her should keep trying, she's a really nice pet to have. :)

I just had to add, after all the great tips that were listed here. I finally found her after over a week of constantly searching. I had almost given up hope in finding her and had stopped my hourly run through the spots shown on the map that she could be found at. Well, today, at about 2 pm, on the Rexxar server. I decided to go make another run up around the area, just to see if I might be able to see her. I even had my main pet, a black bear out of Ashenvale.

I rode up toward the most eastern of the plateaus just up from the Alterac battle ground spot, used Eagle Eye, and just about lost all breath. There she was almost directly ontop of what appeared like a fallen log. I had asked, even bugged blizzard if she was even still in the game.

She is, she seems to be as mentioned before on a 36 to 24 hr spawn time. If you really want one of the rarest cats in the game, this is it. She is quite distinctive from the other cougars in the area. She also makes a great pet.

Don't give up, keep looking, she is out there.

Spent 5-6 hours (spread out over 2 days) looking for Araga.

I would say Araga is among the most rare non exotic pet models in the game (along with Old Cliff Jumper and Grimtotem Spirit Guide... the latter of which is now retired).

Having said that, neither Araga or Old Cliff Jumper will have the "head turning" appeal that a Loque'nahak might have. You and the people reading the comments of Araga and Old Cliff Jumper are probably the only ones who will be able to distinguish their model from a common mountain lion and a wolf.

I have read that Araga and Old Cliff Jumper are also on a relatively long spawn timer... some have suggested 21-24 hours (compared to other rares like Uhk'loc and the above mentioned Loque'nahak... which seem to be more in the range of 7-10 hours). With a 7-10 hour respawn timer it is possible to sit on an area in one sitting... which is what I did for Uhk'loc and tamed him in about 3 hours (though Loque'nahak spawns in about 7 locations). If there is any type of confirmation on a 21-24 hour spawn timer this would make finding them much harder to do in one sitting (barring any kind of server restart and such) and definitely make Araga and Old Cliff Jumper that much rarer.

I would probably recommend searching for Araga right before a server restart, 1-2 hours after a server restart, and then another 1-2 hours... 24 hours after the server restart (which some have suggested). You may even want to check 7-10 hours after the server restart as that seems to be the average rare spawn timer. The more blocks of time you can confirm that he hasnt spawned the better off you will be in figuring out the approximate time he does spawn.

Good News
1) The area Araga spawns is not heavily contested.
2) At higher levels you can just mount and spam your target macro while riding back and forth. This is a little more annoying to do in the area where Old Cliff Jumper spawns.
3) Killing all the mountain lions in the area has no effect at all on when Araga spawns. I am fairly sure of this as I had covered the very same area not more than 5 min before and did not find him. This was at approximately 2:30 am server time so it is unlikely anyone forced a spawn within those 5 min, and without me seeing any dead mountain lion corpses.
4) If you have not leveled your cooking, you can kill the mountain lions for the lion meat which is used for a recipe called hot lion chops which many use to level their cooking from 125-175.
5) I would say that if you are looking for the rarest tameable cat in the game... it is currently Araga. Definitely more rare than the spawnable Echeyakee/Sian-Rotam, Shy-Rotam, and Ghost Saber.

Bad News
1) Like I mentioned before... Araga and Old Cliff Jumper really have no "head turning" appeal. Those who think Araga and Old Cliff Jumper are "beautiful" and "pretty" and all that are full of it imo haha. I have Araga, Old Cliff Jumper, Uhk'loc, Ghost Saber, and a stupid scorpid... other than being so unique and rare... there is nothing really remarkable about the way Araga and Old Cliff Jumper look/sound/act (for those who have given up on the search for either haha).

Ive been lucky enough to be able to obtain most rare "farmable" items (including non combat pets) in one sitting (and I mean religiously killing every mob in the area or running back and forth through an area spamming a target macro), but due to the possible 21-24 hour spawn timer being so daunting, Araga is the only thing I couldnt obtain in one sitting.

Luck plays a big part in things like this. I certainly got lucky with how I found Old Cliff Jumper, but one could say I paid the price with my search for Araga haha. Personally I believe if you really want something like this and put the work in, it will pay off. And I dont mean just going through the area for 1 minute at an arbitrary time over the course of months :P

Just got her. Spent a few days trying to find her, though didnt tie myself down. It was lax, just running around on my deathknight until i ran into Araga. It was beautiful. Yes, theres nothing too special about her, just knowing what you went through to get her if you're one of those hunters that HAS TO HAVE that weird looking pet. I have Rak'Shiri, which Im also proud of, even though her and Shy are common. Im glad I got Araga (again..). o me, it was worth it. :) Has a huge spawn rate, and almost lost her at the end of taming to a damned dwarf. didnt catch his name to gank him a few times, but hey. Win lose situation. If you want her, she'll turn up eventually. as will any other rare. :) Keep your chin up.

I am level 70 now, and getting this cat was a piece of cake, (she was there when I got there!)I am planning to keep this lovely kitty, since that alot of hunters that I've seen always comment on her. Good Luck to those hunters who want to tame her!

Saw this thing today after over a week of camping... had a really rough time, I got too excited and ran right at it, forgot to abandon ghost saber so I had to kill all the adds first. Finally after they were all killed, I abandoned him, froze Araga, bandaged myself (was only level 41 with about 200 health left), finished bandaging and starting taming.

I came within 3-5 seconds of finishing the tame, and an alliance paladin comes up and kills it.

Of course, being upset as I was I made an ally character and asked him (without getting mad) why he did it when I was spamming the /wait emote because I atleast wanted to hear his answer before I assumed the worst. My guess was right, he didn't know about Araga and thought they all looked the same, saw me low on health and was trying to save me... so I couldn't be mad at him.

Still though, what are the odds?

All I know is that I will be there for the entire spawn window tomorrow. After going through what I just did, there is no way I'm letting this pet go.

My rare collection is finished at last. I got Loque before I was able to tame this one, sadly. She was just sitting there, no contest whatsoever. Guess everybody is in northrend trying to get the impossible spirit beast. It was easy to fly there and get it, there was nobody near, or maybe just got really lucky, after spending a week camping the Sholazar Basin one. She may have been quite a sight with her tail stripes, but now she is just like a mountain lion with a slightly darker back. Still, she is in a fairly high traffic area, since there are quest mobs around her and she has a long spawn time, so I guess luck plays a big role here. I got her at 37, 91 in Alterac Mountains. Its just cool to have an old school, uber rare I guess, lol. Submited a screenshot so u can compare the colors yourself. Best of lucks fellow Hunters.

i ran into this guy in gavin's naze doing the quest A Costly Menace. i saw his rare spawn flag, killed him, got some crappy green, and left. Later i looked him up and discovered people camp for weeks to find him... lol i had no idea he is so rare. Makes me think of Sludginn the ooze that most people don't know exists

I just tamed her in the Aterlitic Mountians around the ally camp I belive someone else was try to find her to but it was back In septemer of last year on a saturday I think maybe a 3 hours spon and this 1 of wows rarest cats and Im so proud happy hunting!

Well im on my 2nd day looking for her. Once after finishing some quests and taking a break i thought for the heck of it i would check and see if there. So i ride around the area she is know to show up. Kept using my macro to target her and all sudden she was targeted. I looked for few seconds and there she was. Just as same time her and 2 other cats attacked me. I Manage to tame her and killed off the other 2. I'm so happy i finally got her. Now just named her Sadie for my real life pet Cat :)

:], Got This Pet a couple days ago, thought i'd just check in the area and try my luck....and BAM! there she was...Just walking around, I got to her before a low lvl blood elf mage had got to her. I named her Akara, Shes a VERY good aggro holder :D

No offense but I think Araga is a he. He looks like a young lion who wandered from the barrens and wound up in Alterac you can see his tan and dark brown main beginning to grow on his back and if you look closely on petopia you'll find that his model, (face included) is exactly that of a male barrens lion. Shame they removed his stripes though... I plan on taming this young lion. I don't think Blizzard gave him the roar though.. lol.. I went tame this trophy yesterday and arrived 3 min too late.. My only prize was an Araga corpse and a lowbie saying that he slew him moments earlier.. Alas, the search for the misplaced adolesecent lion continues...

I am on the realm shadowmoon and it took me a very short time to find this pet and tame her. What I did was go on about 36 hrs. after a server restart, and rode around to all of the different spawn points for about 10 minutes until i found her.

i just got her, since no one is over there anymore she was just laying around. Ilooked in the fourth spot that the map said. She's not elite, cool-looking, and very easy to tame if your higher lvl.

did get Araga on my littel nightelf ally hehe, i mostly play on my horde but i have started to play on my ally a littel more, so now today i did find Araga the moust rare cat in wow history, trust me i have tryed for a long time on my horde to get Araga but no luck iven tho i have all of the spirit beast on my horde i rly have to say that this feel special i will put up a printscreen on it hope thotbot show it tho =) good luck to get this cat =) Fairytal�/masrygos server

Mediocre 1.4 attack speed, not very pretty, and difficult to find. But a nifty kitty if you have a love for the stranger critters in WoW. :)

Anyway, definatly keeping my BT, but I'll keep this weird little girl too <3 ~

P.S. - She doesn't eat more than any other pet thats been newly tamed. :P All pets munch tons of food when you first get them.

I found her at 28,86 there were a few Mountain Lions around her but I had no trouble going around them. I could tell it was her from a distance, there is a huge difference between her and 'normal' Mountain Lions no pictures I've seen give her justice. I've been looking off and on for awhile, mainly to see what all the hype was about. Lately I've seen Humar and Echeyakee everywhere- - and up to 5 E's in the same place. =(
Araga I think is the rare of the rare, even if she is 'findable' - maybe only the true hunters want her (?). Or maybe now it's considered cool to have a Alliance pet if your a Horde and a Horde pet if your a Alliance.... sigh, why don't they just make >more< cool pets?

Well i did see her then a priest level 33 was there so i atacked her hoping she wouldnt attack. But no here comes a level 35 hunter they kill me. Then they go and kill the lion so now i have to wait.

I was walking around today on my level 30 hunter, hoping to find a level 30 "Mountain Lion" to tame to get prowl Rank1, but i was saddened to find that the mountain lions only exist at level 32-34, so i gave up and was headed back to town when i happened onto this rare mob.

It looked different from a distance... so i got in closer and sure enough, RARE MOB! so i rushed back to town to get my 'good cat' from the stable then ran back and killed it :D

No skills when tamed, no stripes or "rings" on the tail, no special skills during the fight, just spank and kill. Links to 3 screenshots below:

First one is when i first sighted it. Second one is when i got back with my cat, and did a 'Beast Lore' on it. Third one is after i killed it, and what it dropped.

yes i called the gm's, they told me last night that they know that she still spawns and they are not sure why she does not have the rings. though i believe that it was not a patch error.

First I wanted to go get a Red-Skinned Hyena in Scarlet Monastery, I had to go from Hillsbrad Foothills to Undercity etc. So I thought lets have a look at The Headland! I looked on the minimap and I saw 'Araga' on the map. I abandoned my pet, that was attacking some Mountain Lion and I ran to Araga, because another player was killing mountain lions further away. And I tamed her. She doesn't have the rings, like many of you have already noticed, but I don't see a lot of players with Araga or some regular pet. I want the stripes back, It looked kinda cute :3 Ah well, I have her now!

I got her yesterday. Even tho she has slower attack speed than my Swamp Jaguar she is so unique. I've never seen her as hunter pet before in realm where I play.

Tamed her, loved her. i mean comon! it took me 3 minutes to find her. she was great, ate through a good 5g but great! Rl called so i went afk, made sure she was fed and went to go do w/e i was doing. Came back and guess what? My bran new rare pet was gone! she ran away while i was AFK! i mean this is jsut bulls**t! Bliz needs to fix this, one in AFk the player shouldn't be attacked by anything and the pets shouldn't get mad! i am so p!ssed cause of this >>

haha just killed him on Vashj. saying that my hunter was only 31 and he spawned as a 35, not much else I could do with him. Dropped:

Avgerage Rares Rate Spawn is 21 - 32 hours

I have had Agy for over 4 months now. I love her nobody really ask about her since she is over looked by most as "brokentooth" I would not get brokentooth since they will nerf him soon enough so mine is still rare and I don't know of anyone else on Alliera that has her.

She has a 1.4 attack speed (nabbed her on Draenor about a week ago after a week of searching). She has a unique look, although it seems a bit rough. She sort of looks like the standard cougar, except has a different face and has a striped tail. Definitely interested and a nice "mate" to my Rake :) I left them alone in the stable for a while, but they made no babies - lol!

No picture, but she is the only cat with her look, so that's kind of cool.

Stats on par with Humar and the Rake. I'll take the Rake over here any day. Easier to catch and faster for PVP.

No joke, she eats a ton! I just tamed her and I've fed her 4 times in the last 30 minutes. Anyone know if she eats a lot less at loyalty 6?

So far I've seen her just once, I tamed her immediately. I had been roaming the spawn sites for over a week.

I am still there a lot, to kill all the other (hulking and normal) mountain lions to farm medium/heavy leather and whiskers (for gold).

I guess she's probably on a similar timer as Humar, around 8 hours or so.

she isn´t easy to find, because if she is south of AV alliance entrance she may be killed by the guards there or some ally players

I found it today, sadly im 2 levels to low to tame her so i just killed it, dropped some crappy green cloth boots.

Tamed her today with my lv 42 hunter. Found her right south of the entrance to Alterac Valley.
Attack speed 1.4 and yes, I have a pic of her.

Araga is one of the rarest spawns in the game. her spawn timer is 2 to 3 days enjoy camping her.

Just tamed Araga today at 4:10 pm on Hellscream US and no rings on tail still but I love her anyway! :)
