As more and more players are returning to Classic WoW in preparation for Burning Crusade, we thought we'd take the time to list some items that hold their value through the Dark Portal, or actually become even more valuable--ranging from Consumables, to Trinkets, to Equipment, and even Enchants and Recipes! Here are 20 useful items to grab before Burning Crusade Classic.
Disclaimer: The tooltips for these items will still display the Classic WoW equivalents, as the Burning Crusade database has not been implemented. Once the beta releases, Wowhead will have a database up and running and these tooltips will update!
1.
Elixir de tueur de démon
Elixir of Demonslaying is an extremely valuable consumable in The Burning Crusade Classic, competing with Elixir of Major Agility as a primary consumable for melee characters. Of course, any time the enemy target is a Demon, Elixir of Demonslaying will reign superior.
Originally, Flask of Petrification was in this position, but it turns out in Patch 2.1.0 Blizzard changed it so Flask of Petrification can no longer be removed while the buff is active!
This means Flask of Petrification couldn't be used and immediately cancelled to avoid boss mechanics or wiping!
2.
Potion de libre action
Free Action Potion actually gets buffed in Burning Crusade, for Player versus Player. In PvP, it becomes no longer dispellable, making it even more powerful in Battlegrounds and World PvP. While it can't be used in Arena, it remains useful in all other forms of Player versus Player, and still can be used in raids and dungeons to avoid stun mechanics.
3.
Rune ténébreuse
Mana users will still want to have Dark Runes and
Rune démoniaque
in their inventory in Burning Crusade Classic. In raids, Healers will have help from Shadow Priest's Vampiric Touch giving them mana, but the mana bar still remains a critical part of Healing in raids, so Dark Runes and Mana Potions are always a consumable in high demand.
4.
Pierre à aiguiser élémentaire
Another surprising consumable, Elemental Sharpening Stone is actually still useful in Burning Crusade Classic. Adamantite Sharpening Stone is a higher level consumable that Blacksmiths can make, but it splits up the Critical Strike Rating between increased weapon damage and a smaller amount of Critical Strike Rating.
5.
Huile de sorcier brillante
While there is Superior Wizard Oil in Burning Crusade Classic, which just gives raw Spell Damage, Brilliant Wizard Oil retains its value by also giving casters Critical Strike Rating. For some spellcasters, the Critical Strike Rating can be more valuable than just raw spell damage, so it depends on your class. Fire Mages for example will always want as much Critical Strike Chance that they can get!
6.
Thé de chardon
Thistle Tea does change in Burning Crusade, to a new formula that reduces the amount of Energy gained based on your level. At Level 70, it will only reward 40 energy, but believe it or not, it's still better than other items on the Healthstone cooldown. Flame Cap and Thistle Tea do share cooldown with one another, but for most boss fights that last long enough, you'll be able to use both in your rotation, meaning Thistle Tea will remain valuable!
7.
Carte de Sombrelune : Dragon bleu
Nearly every Healing class will want this trinket in Burning Crusade Classic, as percentage based trinkets will always retain their value because it scales so well based off of gear and level. Nothing changes about this trinket moving through the Dark Portal, meaning it is still a fantastic pre-raid Best in Slot trinket! For raw Healing trinkets, Eye of the Dead and Rejuvenating Gem are still top tier.
8.
Le Livre noir
While this is a mostly forgotten class trinket from Blackwing Lair, it becomes an absolute monster during the leveling process for Warlocks in Outlands. The 41 point talent in the Demonology tree is Summon Felguard, which The Black Book does also empower, meaning Warlocks are running around with practically a raid boss as their demon pet, which makes leveling a breeze while questing.
9.
Gemme de vivacité d'esprit
Another class trinket from Blackwing Lair, Mind Quickening Gem is extremely useful in Outland, as Spell Haste becomes a valuable attribute in Burning Crusade Classic. While Spell Haste isn't necessarily percentage based, it does scale really well off of the player's gear, as you gain more spell damage and hit harder with your abilities, casting them faster means even more damage!
10.
Scarabée d'obstruction de Styleen
Continuing the trend of Blackwing Lair trinkets, Styleen's Impending Scarab becomes an absolute Pre-Raid Best in Slot trinket for Protection Warriors and Protection Paladins. Defense Skill and Defense Rating aren't quite the same, but tanks will want to stack as much defense rating as possible in Burning Crusade Classic, and this is a great trinket to get before the dark portal, giving you a head start of +20 Defense Rating.
11.
Talisman croc-de-drake
Drake Fang Talisman is without a doubt a fantastic trinket for melee damage dealers, because it has a significant amount of Hit Rating and Attack power on it. While it is quickly outshined by a few end game Burning Crusade trinkets, it is definitely a boost to your Hit Rating while you wait for those end game pieces!
12.
Larme de Neltharion
Neltharion's Tear gives 16 Spell Hit Rating and 44 Spell Damage in Burning Crusade Classic, meaning it is still a viable trinket. Scryer's Bloodgem requires Revered with The Scryer faction and Arcanist's Stone is a Heroic Dungeon drop, so it will take some time before you find an upgrade to Neltharion's Tear!
13.
Marque du champion
/
Marque du champion
The Phylactery Trinkets off of Kel'thuzad are just insanely good in Burning Crusade Classic. Of course it depends on what boss you're fighting, but they are without a doubt the Best in Slot trinket for some fights. Don't forget, a large portion of the enemies you will face in Outlands during levelling are in fact Demons, so swapping your trinkets around to accommodate for this fact can help you level faster, as well!
14.
Dent de diablosaure
Most Hunters will automatically pick up the
Oeil de diablosaure
from the Level 50 Hunter quest, without taking much notice of the Devilsaur Tooth trinket. Well, in Burning Crusade Classic, that Devilsaur Tooth trinket actually becomes really, really good. Whenever your pet scores a critical strike, the Ferocious Inspiration talent in the Beast Mastery tree is triggered, giving a 3% damage boost for 10 seconds. While the trinket doesn't look like much at face value, it is actually a really strong Trinket when the Dark Portal opens!
15.
Broche scarabée
As previously mentioned, most items that are percentage based going from Vanilla into Burning Crusade retain their value, and Scarab Brooch is no exception. Once players level past 63, they can no longer benefit from World Buffs, meaning there will be many more buff slots on a tank during a Heroic dungeon or a raid. This means healers can start using trinkets like this, which increase the survivability of the tank by a significant margin!
16.
Défenseur d'argent
This one might come as a surprise for anyone that isn't playing a Protection Paladin. Believe it or not, this is the best AOE farming Shield for a Protection Paladin, even more so than Skullflame Shield. With enough Block Rating and a large enough pull of low level enemies, a Protection Paladin can pretty much get a 100% block chance and just AOE farm with Consecration. Eventually, the best AOE farming shield will be the Petrified Lichen Guard from the Sporegarr in Zangarmarsh. But until then, Protection Paladins want this shield!
17.
Casque tête-de-loup
Feral Druids that want to perform at the highest level will be using this Helm for at least the first half of Burning Crusade Classic. "Power shifting" is a unique ability for Feral Druids with the
Fureur
talent, allowing the Druid to gain energy each time they shift forms. Some Druids will opt to take the helm off once they acquire 2 piece Tier 4, as the set bonus reads "Your melee attacks in Cat Form have a chance to generate 20 additional Energy." which is extremely powerful and opens up the opportunity to finally take off the low level helm!
18.
Hyperviseur Biznicks 247 x 128
Biznicks 247x128 Accurascope is still an extremely valuable enchant for Hunters, who will still value the Hit Rating. Many Hunters will instead opt for the Stabilized Eternium Scope, which gives Critical Strike Rating, but Hunters leveling up or below the Hit cap will still need the Accurascope!
19.
Formule : Enchantement de gants (Menace)
Enchant Gloves: Threat is still the main Glove enchant for Tank characters. Other than Feral Druid Tanks that want the Agility, Protection Paladins and Protection Warriors will definitely be taking the Threat Enchant.
20.
Atiesh, grand bâton du Gardien
Not surprising at all, of course the Greatstaff of the Guardian is still useful in Burning Crusade Classic, as it opens a portal to Karazhan, which is one of the first raids level 70 characters will be venturing into!
