For everyone interested, I've updated my profile on this site with info for both my phpBB mod and my Wordpress plugin so you don't have to go sifting through the thread to find it.

Is the great script from Horris adjustable so it takes the item ID and the quality from a text or xml file on the webserver or from a database table rather than from cuckhead.com?
As I maintain a German forum it should be possible to get (English) tooltips for items written in German. I know that I would have to update the file/database table manually.
Further, I have a special request ... my phpBB3 forum links currently have a text link to a German wow website and an image link behind it for the corresponding cuckhead.com page. So it would be nice to get the item id (or even npc id, object id etc.) from a file/database and build up the links with it and add the (English) cuckhead.com tooltip to both.

First off, this is awesome. Thank gals and guys of Wowhead! This works like a charm for items.
However I am having a problem with linking to spells. Specifically enchants. OK, specifically one enchant because I just gave it a go in one post.
Basically this...
<a href="
http://www.cuckhead.com/?spell=13898">Enchant
Weapon - Fiery Weapon</a>
...doesn't give a tool tip. You can see it not working here...
http://ogsledger.blogspot.com/2007/12/og-is-powered-by-wowhead.html
It's probably something I'm doing. Just found it odd that it's working for those refering to and in their query string and not a spell.
This script only works with item links, not spell links.

It doesn't do that now, but it shouldn't be a difficult feature to add. I'll look into it.

Add to your profile the following tutorial for Smf users because its unclear for some what Benneh said
First Step:
Download the following plugin and unzip it on your hdd
Download
Second Step:
Copy the "Wow" found in the archive you just downloaded and put it in your <SMF INSTALL DIR>
Thrid Step:
Open your index.template.php (
location:
<SMF INSTALL DIR>/themes/<YOUR TEMPLATE DIR> )
search for the following code:
// --></script> </head>
*between </script> </head> add the following code:
<script src="
http://www.cuckhead.com/widgets/power.js"></script>
<script src="wow/jquery-1.2.1.js"></script>
<script src="wow/wowhead_linker.js"></script>
Save the file.
Forth Step:
You need to install severall modifications to create custom BBCodes
- Download the mod Custom BBCode and save it on your hard drive
- Log on to the Administration-Center
- Click on Packages on the left menu. You can find Packages in the Main category.
- Click Download Packages
- Scroll down to Upload a package
- Click Browse and select the downloaded package (zip) on your hard drive
- Click Upload
- Click Apply Package
- Now the SMF-Administration-Center needs your FTP-Information. - Fill in the form (make sure you overwritve "localhost" with the adress of your FTP Server e.g. forum.domain.com).
- Click Install now
- Everything went well if you see the following text (or something similar):
Fifth Step:
Create the custom BBCode
- Log on to the Administration-Center
- Click Features and Options on the left menu. You can find Features and Options in the Configuration category.
- Click Custom BBC in the sub-menu
- Click Create a new Tag
- Fill in the form:
Tag Name: wow
Description: <whatever you want ppl to add Horris>
Tag type: Select content
Parse enclosed BBCode: (no parsing)
Trim whitespace: Both
The HTML used for the tag:
<b><a href="wow/wowhead_wrapper.php?item={content}" class="wowhead"></a></b>
- Hit Save
- Check the checkbox under Enable and hit Save again
Thats it. To test it use the following code item name , example: Dirge

Is there any way to use the tooltips for item icons (images) instead of text (item name)? I used this but its not working.
<a href="
http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=32756"><img
src="../itemicons/INV_Weapon_Rifle_13.jpg"></a>
And this is working normal.
<a href="
http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=32756">Gyro-Balanced
Khorium Destroyer</a>
How to solve this problem, please?

Hi there. This looks like a great tool but, how would I modify it to work with e107? I'd like it to work site wide using the normal itemstats style if possible. If it was an e107 plugin it would be even better!!
Thanks
I too, would love to implement this on my e107 forum. I am a windows application developer by trade, so branching out a little into web shouldn't be too difficult (hopefully :P) Just some pointers in the right direction may be enough to get me playing.

I'm not too good with HTML, and i was wondering if there is any possible way to get this to work on Guildportal.com. If there is a way, could you please post it (or tell me which post it is if its already been posted)?

That shouldn't be a problem. I'll take a deeper look at it this weekend. Stay tuned.

I am having a heck of a time with DragonflyCMS that has ForumsPro installed. It is very similar to PHPBB but I can't figure it out. The BBCode is fine but I can't get item quality nor can I get the custom bbcode to work no matter what I try. Anyone find a solution?

Great script! I placed it on my SMF boards and it works beautifully. However, my static website uses frames and I can't seem to get it to work on those pages. There is probably an easy solution to this, but I'm not sharp enough to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
In order for the Wowhead script to work inside of frames, I imagine you would have to include it inside each separate frame since the scope of the document object for each frame will be different from the top level page.
