Effects of the Season 2 Mythic+ Affix: Reaping
PTR

The Mythic+ Season 2 affix, Reaping, is now able to be tested on the PTR and we now know what the affix does! Every 20% on the enemy forces bar, you'll have to deal with special Reaping NPCs that have new abilities as they rush towards and swarm you.
What is Reaping?
Reaping is the new Season 2 Affix! Bwonsamdi appears at the beginning of every Reaping Keystone (this has a use later).
That's not all, whenever you kill a mob, a ghostly form of it will appear. It will do nothing and be untargetable for the time being.
Every 20%
of the Enemy Forces bar, the environment will change for a short period of time and Bwonsamdi will resurrect all dead mobs as specific NPCs that will immediately aggro and rush towards the party. Mobs will not be able to be resurrected by Bwonsamdi more than once, so you will only have to worry about enemies that you've killed from the last 20% threshold.
For example, on the 40% reaping wave, creatures killed between 20% and 40% will resurrect and be the ones you'll have to worry about..
At 80% only mobs killed between 60% and 80% will resurrect.
At 100% only mobs killed between 80% and 100% will resurrect but if the dungeon ends by killing trash count (as in you've defeated all the bosses already), you won't have to deal with the last wave.
The Reaping wave will happen regardless if the party is still in combat with any alive mobs.
Miscellaneous Facts
Here are some miscellaneous facts about Reaping mobs:
They do not count towards Trash count.
As these mobs run towards the party, they will
NOT
aggro any mobs they pass along the way.
They do
NOT
have true sight. You can be Stealth past or use
Schattenmimik
to drop combat.
If you wipe or get out of combat with them, they will reset to the location where their mob originally died. However, they then have a
gigantic aggro radius
.
All alive Reaping adds will also automatically pull on the next Reaping wave.
They are unaffected by Sanguine.
They can be hit by Heavy Cannons in Tol Dagor.
Reaping NPC Types & Abilities
It appears that there are only 3 types of Reaping NPCs Ghosts:
Auferstandene Seele
,
Gepeinigte Seele
and
Verlorene Seele
. Each of these mobs will automatically aggro the party every Reaping wave. Each add has 50% health of the add it was summoned from and only casts the spells related to their Reaping NPC type.
Auferstandene Seele
Auferstandene Seele
have the passive
Auferstandene Seele
and do nothing but melee.
This passive makes every successful melee swing apply the debuff
Seele schröpfen
.
This deals 2% of a player's maximum health every 3 seconds and stacks
and can be removed by a Magic Dispel.
Gepeinigte Seele
Gepeinigte Seele
spam cast
Gruftblitz
. This is a 5 second long cast that can be interrupted.
If successfully cast, it deals 25% of the player's max health.
Verlorene Seele
Verlorene Seele
periodically casts
Schattenschmettern
which is a frontal cone that can be dodged.
Any player hit has their maximum health reduced by 20% for 1 minute
.
When the
Verlorene Seele
dies it casts
Seele ausstoßen
, summoning lots of swirlies.
Any player who is hit takes damage, is knocked back and has their damage and healing reduced by 10% for 30 seconds.
The damage and healing reduction stacks per projectile hit.
Which Reaping Mobs Spawn?
It appears that each type of NPC is sorted into one of three groups representing the different Reaping Mobs. Every NPC of that type will resurrect into the same type of Reaping Mobs.
NPCs appear to be sorted in the following way.
Verlorene Seele
- "Lieutenant" Creatures. Lieutenants are usually mini-bosses but not exclusively. They are often immune to CC and are often the most difficult type of trash to kill.
Examples:
Reanimierte Ehrenwache
from Atal'dazar or
Vollstrecker der Eisenfluträuber
from Freehold
Gepeinigte Seele
- "Ranged" Creatures. These include casters that spam spells and archers that don't like to move. They are often the ones that you have to Line of Sight or use interrupts on to get them to group up.
Examples:
Augur der Dazar'ai
from Atal'dazar or
Kunstschütze der Eisenfluträuber
from Freehold
Auferstandene Seele
- The "Everything Else" Creatures that usually melee.
Examples:
Moloch der Dazar'ai
,
Toxischer Saurid
,
Fressender Himmelskreischer
from Atal'dazar or
Mastiff der Eisenfluträuber
,
Knochensäger der Eisenfluträuber
from Freehold.
As such, the
Auferstandene Seele
are very common and will swarm the party with the
Seele schröpfen
debuff, you'll likely have a couple
Gepeinigte Seele
and very few
Verlorene Seele
per Reaping wave.
Additional Effect When Timer Expires - Bargain with Bwonsamdi
Bwonsamdi also has an additional use! Remember we said that he shows up at the beginning of the Mythic+ dungeon? He'll move around as you kill bosses as well.
When the timer (excluding deaths) runs out for a Keystone, Bwomsamdi offers you a bargain.
Oh, poor little thing, ya be needin' some help from old Bwomsamdi?
Players may now talk to Bwonsamdi and "Accept Bwonsamdi's Bargain" to "Serve Bwonsamdi in life and death". Accepting this bargain will earn you the
Bwonsamdis Handel
buff increasing your health and damage by 20% for the
remainder of the dungeon
.
Nothing would go wrong for accepting Bwonsamdi's Bargain right? Well... it also gives you the
Last des Todes
debuff for 2 hours, but we're not quite sure what it does yet.
This buff will be great for groups who want to just finish the dungeon for completion to receive a new dungeon or for their Weekly Reset.
Bwonsamdi Taunts
When you die with Reaping active, Bwonsamdi sometimes Taunts you with a whisper.
"Sooner or later... everyone comes to me."
"Haha! Now dat was an impressive death."
"Let me guess... you got in over ya head?"
