Grievous Nerfed to Cap at 4 Stacks & New Grievous Analysis

Last week's Grievous change may actually have made Grievous harder to heal in most circumstances and we take a look at the reasons why. In addition, another Grievous change has been hotfixed by Blizzard, and Grievous now caps at 4 stacks.

At some point today, Blizzard nerfed the Grievous affix to cap at a maximum of 4 stacks.

We'll discuss how the overall timeline compares now a little lower in the article.
Grievous Doesn't Tick on 1
It's important to note that Grievous never ticks on the 1 stack in any version of Grievous. However, it appears that Grievous increases its stack to 2 a little earlier than it should.
In both versions of Grievous, the debuff is applied a player drops below 90%, but doesn't tick at that moment. After 3 seconds on the next tick, the stacks increase to 2 and the debuff ticks for 4% health.
Blizzard
In Mythic Keystone dungeons, the Grievous affix now stacks every other tick (was every tick), and now deals 2% of the player's total HP per stack (was 1.5%).
However, the hotfix notes seem to imply that Grievous should take two ticks to stack to 2, but this has not been the case on live servers.

Because Grievous doesn't take two ticks to stack to 2,

Conclusion (TL;DR)
So if you're trying to heal Grievous off in the first 3 ticks (before 12 seconds) or after 7 ticks (after 21 seconds), you're actually having to heal more damage than before. However, if you manage to remove Grievous on Tick 5 or Tick 6 (between 12 and 18 seconds), you're healing less Grievous damage than before! You're probably not going to be counting ticks and you'll still want to remove Grievous as soon as possible but the Grievous change might not actually be a nerf but a buff.
Overall, this Grievous change wasn't as big of a nerf as people originally thought because of the way that 1 stack of Grievous doesn't tick twice (or even deal damage once!).
