After you defeat all 8 bosses in this dungeon, the lich king will appear and destroy the floor, letting you go to the subterranean cavern, wich is the raid with the same name.

I just recently tried this on the PTRs, as it is now open for testing. After entering the dungeon, get on the Argent Warhorses. You start out with a long introduction from an NPC, calling out your class, with your respective race cheering for you. Afterwards, three groups of champions from the opposing faction ride out at you on mounts.
You take down the three groups, and then you fight the leaders of the champions. You get them down to pretty low health, then they fall off their mount and lay on the ground. You have to "trample" them, by running over them repeatedly to make sure they don't get back up and get on a mount.
I'm not too sure about this next part, because it is still pretty buggy. This is current as of 6/10/09. If they get back on a mount, when you try to attack them it will say "Invalid Target" and you have to get off your mount and kill them normally. One person MUST stay on their mount and keep the fallen champions on the ground. I don't know specifically what happens after this, as when my group tried, nothing happened to progress the instance to the next stage.

Essentially the Magister's Terrace of Northrend in that it (judging by the lootlevels) should pose as much of a challenge as the other heroics already on normal. Seeing how it also drops some fairly unique loot, like trinkets with Equip: Armor Penetration, it's safe to say that the summoning stone (if one exists) will be fairly crowded.

This is how the instance works on Normal Difficulty:
When you enter the instance there are several Lance Racks which when clicked on give you an
Argent Lance
. Once you have your lance you can ride a nearby Argent Warhorse if your Alliance or an Argent Wolf if your Horde.. The mounts have the same abilites as the mounts you ride for your dailies, with the exception of
Refresh Mount
.
The Grand Champions
Once everyone is settled on their Warhorses, you can speak with
Jaeran Sunsworn
or
Arelas Brightstar
and begin the event. After the herald has announced your group, the door behind him will open up and the Faction Champions will enter. If your Horde, 3/5 of the Grand Champions of the Alliance will be randomly chosen and will enter one by one. If your Alliance, 3/5 of the Grand Champions of the Horde will be ramdomly chosen and enter one by one.
The Grand Champions of the Horde are:

The Grand Champions will send their lesser Champions in pairs of 3 one at a time per Grand Champion. Once the lesser champions have been defeated, the 3 Grand Champions will group up and attack your party together. Once one has been defeated they'll occasionally attempt to slowly walk towards a Warhorse and remount. You can prevent this by "running" over them on your mount. In turn the victim will be
Trampled
stunning them for 15 seconds. Once
all
Grand Champions have been defeated, they'll regroup and become a normal boss fight on foot. You'll have to dismount and engage them normally. Each grand champion is a different class and each have unique abilities with their respective class.
After the Grand Champions have been permanently defeated a lootable chest will spawn, yielding 1 Heroic Quality Epic Item.
The Argent Crusade Represenatives
Now for the rest of the instance, you'll fight on foot. Next, 1/2 of the Argent Crusade Represenatives will enter, either
Argent Confessor Paletress
or
Eadric the Pure
. Adds of priests and paladins will also rush in and attack your party. Once the adds are eliminated, the real fight will begin as Paletress or Eadric engage you in person.
Eadric will occassionally cast
Radiance
, which basicly disorients you if you are not facing away from him. Additionally, he'll throw a
Hammer of the Righteous
at a stunned target. However if the target isn't stunned they can
throw back the hammer
.
Paletress is different, she's a very low healthed boss, but at about 25% health, she'll spawn a Nightmare. They can range from
Hogger
(Yay, hogger!) to
Priestess Delrissa
and from
Edwin VanCleef
to
Hakkar
. Regardless of who it is, each memory does the same abilities. And while that is happening, Palatress will shield and heal herself.
Once everyone is defeated, a cache will spawn giving 2 Heroic Quality Epic Items.
Return of the Black Knight
Now everyone remembers killing The Black Knight, right? We learned he was a member of the Cult of the Damned and we promptly disposed of him. Well apparently, when he was buried, Cultists of the Damned "stole" The Black Knights body and brought him back to life. As an Undead of course.
Now, as the last encounter of the instance, the new Black Knight flies down on his Skeletal Gryphon and kills either Jaeran or Arelas and ressurects them as a ghoul. He'll then engage after talking and use different Death Knight abilites and
Death's Respite
with his ghoul helping out. When he dies he comes back to life as a Skeleton he instantly begins casting
Army of the Dead
. At this point the Black Knight will periodically use
Ghoul Explode
inflicting massive damage if you happen to be near one. When he dies again, The Black Knight comes back to life without flesh or bone but as a Ghost. When he's a ghost he spams
Death's Bite
, which hits everyone in the group and a single player will be targeted with
Marked For Death
. When the Black Knight is put down forever without any hopes of returning, you have suceeded in the trial of the champion.
The Black Knight drops 2 Heroic Quality Epics.
3.2 is released. This information is fixed and set in stone. =)

Notes for the fights, (for Alliance)
At the beginning Jousting Phase, the Blood Elf does a blast wave, the Orc Whirlwinds, and the Undead Fan of Knives, and drops poison Vials, the Undead one should be focused down first as he also has stacking Deadly Poison
For Eadric the Pure, he will cast Radiance, you must turn away from him just like on Yogg-Saron
For the Black Knight, Phase 1, kill the first and only ghoul before it explodes, Move out of Desecration he drops on the ground, Phase 2, AoE down his Army while moving them around to avoid them all Exploding on you at once, Phase 3 Kill him as fast as possible before his stacking debuff that increases Spell Damage taken overwhelms you.

Ok, Let me clear up this instance a little.
Note: This guide is Alliance only!
You walk in by the most northern entrance.
After you are in, everybody jumps on a one of the horses along the side of the arena and talk to the guy in middle, he will start the event.
You fight on horses, Identical to the daily "Amongst the Champions" in whole 1st round.
Wait a while, and 12 NPCs will walk in, 3 bosses (randomly picked from 5 possible) and 9 trash.
1st round:
Trash will attack in groups of three till they all are dead.
Then the bosses will come, It doesn't matter in what sequence will You kill them.
But - Undead and Orc are the most dangerous, and should be killed first.
Note: Should you die, run to the side and jump on a horse if there are some left ASAP
Killing all of them makes everybody jump down from their horses.
When one of the bosses dies, it's possible he/she will run to a free horse and "revive" with 30k HP. Nothing too dangerous though.
1,5th round:
Equip your normal weapon,
The 3 bosses regenarate to their full health and immediately aggro on the nearest one. I strongly suggest killing Undead or Orc riders first (Undead being given the highest priority)
Note: It is possible to phase out of the instance after the "1,5th" round starts, phasing out/wiping makes the 3 bosses run to the big gate and wait until you aggro them by yourself, this gives you lot of time to prepare for the fight.
2nd round:
Get your drops from the chest in the middle and start the 2nd round by talking to the guy in the middle.
You can get one of the two random bosses, along with 9 Trash in 3 groups (Can be killed simultaneously, but killing the last one will pull the boss).
Eadric the Pure or Argent Confessor Paletress
Eadric the Pure is quite easy, turn your back at him when he starts to radiate, turn your back to him. Not doing so will result in a "middle" amount of damage and fear effect for 3 secs. When he does his second spell (Throwing his hammer) It's possible to catch it (by right clicking it probably) and throw it back at him (If you fail to catch it you get around 15k damage done to you). Targets only one random person.
Argent Confessor Paletress is quite harder, She summons a random NPC (possibility of getting (but not limited to)Hogger or Algalon!) with 362k HP behind random player. I suggest dealing with it (you have to anyway, she's immune to everything as long the NPC is alive). She does not do any more spells that you would need to be aware of.
Should you succeed, loot your reward (chest in the middle) and talk to the guy in the middle again, this will start the round 3.
3rd round:
The Black Knight
This fight consists of 3 phases, which change after you defeat The Black Knight in each of it's form.
1st phase:
Human(?) form(276k hp): Does not do lot of damage, but kill the ghoul he summons and move out of the consecration-thingy.
The ghoul won't be dismissed if you kill his first form and his body explodes in a while.
2nd phase:
Skeleton form(276k hp): Ok, this is quite harder. He will summon an army of ghouls which tend to explode, dead or alive. Nothing else to add I guess
3rd phase:
Spirit form(276k hp): Prepare for a chunk of healing, especially with bad DPS. He will cast a debuff on everybody, making them get 5% more magic damage done to them every 2 seconds. He will also keep debuff on one random player changing each (around) 10 seconds, causing the target to take 200% more magic damage.
He casts a volley of bolts, not hitting that much, but they are deadly for the debuffed player, and possibly other players if the +5% debuff reaches too high number.
Basically, burn him down before he kills everybody.
If you managed to kill him, Grats! Loot the chest and enjoy your new items :)
Post-scriptum
- I strongly suggest trying this instance in a normal mode for 1-2 times before going into the heroic.

- Healers, prepare to give out a decent chunk of healing, this is an instance that shouldn't be treated like the other "easy" ones (not saying it's hard, it's just not easy)

Mobs:
Champions of the Alliance/Horde
Three mounted champions accompany each grand champion of a city. They use all the basic abilities a normal champion has. On heroic mode they have 75,000 health each.
Argent forces:
Argent Priestesses
Argent priestesses cast smite, mind control and summon lightwells. When they summon a lightwell, dps it down quickly as it will heal the priestess and her allies for a hefty amount. Note that their smite has a short cooldown. Obviously these should be first on your kill list. On heroic mode they have 126,000 health each, and very little armor. Their lightwells have around 9k - 10k health.
Argent Lightwielder
Casts cleave and a holy damage based AoE. The best way to tank these is to obviously have them facing away from the group. These should be second on your kill list. They have the same health as the Argent Priestesses, but considerably more armor.
Argent Monk
These are basically the same thing as as Scarlet Monks you may have encountered in the scarlet monestary. They use Pummel to interrupt spellcasting, but also enrage after a certain amount of time. Once they reach 1 health, they begin "meditating", which reduces all damage taken by 100%, and also reduces YOUR attack speed and movement speed by 70%. This effect lasts about 10 seconds. For this reason, Argent Monks should always be last on your kill list. 126,000 health each, with negligible armor.

I can't speak to all of the loot, but I know that the
Mariel's Sorrow
from Eadric has 487 Spell Power (Wowhead shows 461, but the

and in-game tool tips both display 487). This is the expected SP value of a 219 mace (see:

The ilevel is correct, Blizzard stated that they will (or already have even if not stated in the tooltips yet) fix the damage and armor (and it seems the stats, too, though they only stated damage and armor).

A few tips:
Make sure everyone has 3 shields up before you start the fight.
During phase 1, have someone marking with skulls so everyone can focus fire. If your group spreads out the damage and shield breaking, it's going to be much harder.
Charging does lots of damage. Charge.
When you defeat the mounted opponents, and everyone dismounts, you're probably going to wipe. I would imagine pugs will get better at this as time goes on, but for now expect a wipe. The good news is, when you re-enter the instance, you don't have to do the mounted combat over again. You can start off with the on-foot battles.
During the second half of phase one (on-foot combat), I find it helpful to kill the rogue first (Dwarf if you're horde).
Make sure your tank knows to pull the mobs out of the green ooze on the ground, as not to kill all the melee in your party.
For the final boss of Phase 2, he does some kind of "Blinding Light" ability and it will tell you to shield your eyes. I found that simply turning your character around to face away from the boss when the cast finishes will protect you from this ability 100%. I could be wrong, but it seemed to work for me.
For the Black Knight, I've read about kiting him around to avoid exploding mobs and whatnot, but the times I've done it I've just tank and spanked him. I think if you have a decently geared and competent group, you won't have a problem simply tanking and spanking.

For Horde, if you get Lana Stouthammer (the Dwarf rogue) and Colosos (the Draenei shaman) in the same fight, focus dps on Lana and interrupt the heals being cast by Colosos. If you cannot consistently interrupt, assign one dps to Colosos. This will force him to choose between healing himself or Lana, and will probably give your group a chance to down Lana. We had our mage on Colosos, both for dps and interrupts. He still healed Lana a couple of times, but by the time she was defeated, he only had 20k left and dropped shortly after.

Not a hard instance when you do it after a while. enchanters are gonna love this for the 5 Abyss Crystals that you can farm on normal. While you can definatly will enjoy the gear from the Heroic. My tank was 10 man Ulduar geared and ended up with 3 almost upgrades and in 2 runs I have received 3 upgrades. I must officially /bow to Blizz on this one. They finaly did something right....for now.

At the moment you probably will wipe after dismount, that's ok. If you get confessor as second boss, use a lot of hots as the dreams keeps fearing your group. DPS should try and self heal as much as possible.in Black Knight encounter, keep cool downs/trinkets for last phase.
overall, found it easy as pala tank and lock, but had difficulty as rogue.
Edit: The loot looked 219 to me on heroic. for example, the 2H Axe dps was 212 while it shows 203 in MMOChampion.

If you're running this instance over and over the RP opening can get kind of boring. So, have only one person in the zone and have them start the event and only that person will be announced. Then proceed to have the other 4 members zone in.

I ran this everyday so far on Heroic, and then at least 20 times on regular and I noticed a few things mostly on the first boss. Please feel free to comment if you noticed the same thing.
1.)
Most importantly, it appears to me that when you kill one of the bosses on his/her horse, HIS/HER AGGRO TABLE DOES NOT RESET. This means if the tank wasn't at the top, the boss will go straight for that person; not the nearest person as someone previously stated.
So to counteract this: Kill 2 of the bosses together - the most lethal 2. Kill them
IN THE CENTER
; not near the edges because if they get back on a horse, they will kill the tank as explained below. Then have one group member stay at those two and trample them. At the same time have the tank get off his mount.. switch his weapon, and then taunt these 2 so that he is top of the aggro table. Now that when everyone else gets kicked off their horses only the one boss will go for another player. This creates a much easier situation for the tank to taunt 1 mob off of 1 player versus 3 off of 3 different players potentially.
IT IS imperative that one player stands and tramples the mobs while the tank taunts, or your tank
WILL
die. Also save any aggro release abilities for when you get knocked off.
This method worked every time when I was able to taunt them and not be beat on by a boss who wasn't being trampled. The leave the instance way is surely easier especially if the people in your group aren't coherent.
2.) Second boss - The healing lady that spawns an add. When she spawns the add, she can't be damaged anymore; therefore, the tank will not be able to aggro her anymore until the add is dead. With this being said, it is quite possible your healer will over-aggro the tank during the "kill add" phase. This means the tank needs to be ready to
IMMEDIATELY
taunt the lady back when she goes live again. If not the healer could potentially die, which isn't that critical because she doesn't hit hard and has lower hp, but still, no one likes to die.

this guide is from a HORDE player
i've done this quite a few times on regular and only a couple on heroic, but from my understanding i found it easiest to do the place this way
MOUNTED FIGHT
phase 1
get everyone on the mounts, and make sure everyone has their main hand weapon on their action bar so when you get dismounted you just have to tap a button to get it back on, make sure shields are up, then talk to the guy in the middle to start it. while he's talking you can explain the fight to the group because it takes a minute or two for him to finish. then when he's finally done you should see three mobs of three mounted characters of the opposing faction to your right. i like to mark two of them as they charge at the group so the group knows who to kill (it goes a lot smoother) then rinse repeat for the other two.
phase 2
when the bosses charge at you mark two of them and make sure to run over them when they stand to get a new mount (you can get on a new worg if yours dies, too the problem is getting there without getting killed by the bosses)
phase 3
once the bosses are all down they will stand up and fight you like normal bosses, it may help to put up a raid warning telling everyone to switch their weapons back, but i generally tend to just wipe here and be able to sort out what boss needs to die first (i like to get the casters and aoe first) once all bosses die there will be a loot chest in thte middle of the room with two purple items in it. (lv 200 for regular, 213 heroic)talk to the blood elf in the middle to start the next round.
(gnome=mage, dwarf=rogue, draeni=shaman, night elf=hunter and human=warrior/paladin)
this wave is pretty easy if you know what you're doing. first thing you should note is what boss is coming out the gate(with three mobs of three) if the boss is a man its Eadric the Pure if it's a woman its Argent Confessor Paletress. eadric is much easier to kill than the confessor. first thing you should do is kill the mobs, taking out the preistess on the left first, making sure to kill her lightwell if she spawns one. once all the mobs are down take out eadric or the confessor
EADRIC
he is pretty tank and spank, just note that he will start radiate light and you need to turn away from him before it happens or you will be feared. and every once in a while he will target someone with a hammer that will take down a lot of health.
CONFESSOR
the confessor is pretty easy to kill, but her pet is the hard part. just a little bit into a fight she will start an attack that stuns everyone and spawn a boss from a fight before 3.2 focus dps on the shadow or nightmare and i have heard that someone needs to stun her because she heals the shadow. once the shadow dies she will quickly follow.
THE BLACK KNIGHT
phase 1
for this fight i just tank and spank, but make sure to kill the ghoul before it explodes. once he's down all dps should get back and tank should stand on his corpse.
phase 2
he will do an army of the dead attack. tank just needs to hold aggro and stay away from his desecration.
phase 3
this phase can be hard on healers, he will just send little aoe attacks at all the members of the group and it can be hard to heal everyone, but he will die pretty fast, if the group doesnt first.

For the Horde party members
Human - Warrior (Mortal Strike Bladestorm)
Dwarf (female :O) - Rogue ( Poison bottle, Fan of Knives and Deadly poison on random melee)
Gnome - Mage (Blast Wave)
Night Elf - Hunter (Thunder arrows (nature damage on hit), Multi-shot and disengage)
Draenei - Shamman (Heals, Chain Lightning and I dont know what else ...I think I saw a stormstrike or something on my healer)
For a mostly melee group
Prioritys should go Gnome/Dwarf/Draenei/Human/Night Elf
Human is near-last because you should just move out of the bladestorm not soak it -.-
mostly caster should be Draenei/Dwarf/Gnome/Human/Night Elf
This is how every single one of my groups does it but It is just a handy suggestion and nothing more

Why was my post deleted? It's true. Sometimes when we dismount and fight all of the elites on foot during the first encounter, one of them will stop at 1 health and run back to thier mount and do some heavy damage to players. We've either had to wipe or all zone out to reset the NPC's back to their spots. Also, the threat seems to be very weird after dismounting too.

Just in case anyone is curious, the items on the heroic list above infact have an item level of 219 but currently when you mouse over the items it says the item level is 213. I'm sure this will be fixed shortly though!

for this instance has been the most accurate you can also look via the item levels heroic mode drops a higher level than in normal and also the item levels for normal is the same no matter what the drop is this is also true for heroic mode

I suggest that if u dont alredy you should set your main hand weapon to a hotkey or position on your action bar as just after the fight on "Horse Back" as it were you then go straight into a boss fight so you need to swap your weapon back on fast. also when you fight them on horse back you need to defeat them fast and close together else after a set amount of time they will run back and hop onto another mount luckily they have around 25% only when they hop onto a different horse so easy to dispatch from there.
On Aedric the pure when the warning saying that he is about to cast a light move and tells you to divert your eyes that is exactly what you want to do just face away from him unless your the tank of course also when he does his righteos hammer be on the look out if your the healer coz it does hit quite hard and also stuns the tank.

Here is my druid healer perspective on the the instance.
Phase 1.1 Horseback: Run around on horses killing 3 sets of 3 weak mobs, then kill the 3 main bosses on horse back. It appears to work well if you can get one person to kite 2 mobs while you zerg the 1st one. Keep running over the bosses when they are down cause they will go get back on a horse.
Once they are all off their mounts, run out and reset. Mostly because they agro on foot right away and you don't have time to set up properly, seen DPS died right away because they were closest to the bosses.
Phase 1.2 Bosses on foot: Spam big heals on the tank, because they take allot of damage at 1st. If you have the undead guy, yell at the group to get out of the green goo, and if you have the troll make sure the tank picks it up, it will 2 shot a squishy. Once the 1st one goes down healing gets easier, but in naxx 25 gear I get close to 25% mana left after this wave.
Phase 2 Pally Boss: Easy... get in range of everyone and turn your back to boss, keep everyone topped off cause he throws 14K hammers randomly and does the AOE blind.

Phase 2 Preist Boss: Hard... The priest will summon an add, a random elite, so far I've seen ignis and vancleff. The priest goes immune, but still casts 5k smites, fears, and MCs random people. Can get very hard to keep people alive if you get hit with a fear and a MC
Phase 3.1 DK round 1: Big heals needed on tank, little raid damage, 1 add, so make sure you lead it to the tank
Phase 3.2 DK round 2: He comes back and summons a ton of adds, run tank to get them off you, and then get out, cause they explode on death. Lots of AOE heals if you are melee strong. Big chance to get adds on you if the tank is not spamming AOE. As druid I hot everyone and then shadowmeld to drop agro.
Phase 3.2 DK round 3: He comes back again and goes ape #*@&. Lots of AOE damage, and tank damage, save your cooldowns for this. I usually hot everyone, wildgrowth, then hit tranquility. So far its kept everyone alive.
This instance requires allot of healing and healing quickly, most heroics I can keep a tank topped of with a regrowth and a rejuvenation per pull, and maybey a nourish or 2 during a boss fight. In ToC I find my self spamming heals on everyone as fast as I can during some phases.

Reputation Gains on Regular:
The three packs of three mobs on Round 1 each award 5 rep with your current championed faction. Total of 45 rep.
Same goes for the 3x3 mobs in Round 2. Total of 45 rep.

The graveyard is very close by, easily less than a minute away. If you die don't hang around and watch the fight just head staight back in. First time I did it we wiped as the healer was so shocked to see me again!

I was checking the leather items in here and all the melee version share the same style/look. Just add in the Darkheart chest from the Knights of the Ebon Blade and you have yourself a matched set of epic melee leather with no raids required. The stats are not to bad ethier. This is wrong, the chests do not despawn, and there can be two chests at the same time (the champions and the paletress/eadric chest). They do not overlap each other, and they will stay there even after you beat the Black Knight.

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out though, but the second boss drops the same loot, regardless of whether it is Eadric the Pure or Argent Confessor Paletress. In addition to this, some speculate that the kill order and race of the Champion Jousters in the beginning of the dungeon have an effect of the yield of the loot after the first fight is over. This too is incorrect.

On 3 champions encounter after you knock all 3 bosses off and dismount, it makes it alot easier and much less chance of a wipe if everyone just runs out and then back into the instance. When you first get back in the bosses usually are not there but just give it a sec and they will appear in their little triple formation and you can mark them up and pull that way. I find that alot easier especially for the tank to grab agro and have the encounter go smooth.

A quick run down of unmounted Grand Champions follows. This information is assuming you are doing the Heroic Version.
Shaman - Tauren and Draenei
Chain Lightning- Short Cast time but interruptable
Healing Touch - Long Cast time, and powerful. Always interrupt this.
Earth Shield - Instant cast, dispellable
Warrior - Human and Orc
Mortal Strike - 50% Healing debuff, ouch.
Whirlwind - Powerful AoE, have your Melee get out of this asap.
Hunter - Troll and Night Elf
Lightning Arrows - Adds a large amount of lightning damage done to ranged attacks, has 5 charges.
Disengage - The Grand Champion flys back 20 yards. Be careful to keep up with him/her, or s/he may aggro on the healer as you try and deal with the other two champions.
- The Hunters Damage is ~much~ lower if she/he is inside melee range.
Rogue - Dwarf and Forsaken
Deadly Poison - Ticks for about 2k every 3 seconds, cleanse it if you can.
Fan of Knives - Instant cast AoE, because of this and poison vial heavy melee groups should take him/her down first.
Poison Vial - Drops a poison slick in a 10 yard radius, this targets a random member of the group, including the tank. 2k Damage a second.
Mage - Blood Elf and Gnome
Fire Ball - Basic nuke, interruptable.
Blast wave - Powerful insta-cast AoE, heavily melee groups should watch out.
Polymorph - Sheeps a random member of the group for 4 seconds, the Tank can not be targeted by this. (Assuming he has Aggro)
- He also does a dispellable buff that decreases cast time by 50%.

Are any other clothies annoyed at the lack of cloth drops in heroic mode? No cloth drops from the first two waves at all. Cloth drops total: 3, all from the Black Knight. Leather: 6 Mail: 5 Plate:8. With 3 classes that all need cloth, this seems slightly unbalanced. Every time I go, I see plate drop, but only twice have I seen cloth.
Yes, there are drop that clothies can use (Spectral Kris, especially), but even on those we are usually rolling against other armor classes, thus making it harder for us to get anything, and gear up.

OK I tanked H ToC for the first time today (did only as DPS previously) cos we couldn't find a tank. We got dwarf (rogue), human (warrior), dranei (shaman).
We were doing OK until at one stage, I got stunned inside poison cloud for like 4-5 seconds, followed by being thrown 20 yards away. Needless to say this ~10 seconds resulted in a wipe. The comments thus far haven't mentioned anything about stuns or knockbacks though, which of the three Champions had these skills, and are they avoidable?

I ran heroic ToC a while back as a Blood DK tank without +def gear, and you aren't kidding. They hit pretty hard compared to normal. Our composition was the hunter, the rogue, and the warrior, but I'm assuming the roles are the same even if the races are different.
The poison cloud and the stuns? Those were compliments of the rogue, just like the player class. If you have a DK in the group with
Mark of Blood
, I STRONGLY suggest he puts it on him. He hits fast and often, so assuming your mitigation and stam are high enough, he'll just be keeping you at the same point, health-wise. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience, it worked. If you have a mostly-ranged DPS class, you can just sort of kite this guy around to avoid his AOE poisons, but it's a bit harder if you're in a mostly-melee group.
The
throw
was from the warrior. This seems to be random and annoying, and I haven't found a way to keep from getting thrown (such as tanking against a wall) but it also doesn't seem to hurt that bad. It's disorienting, though, and that in itself can cause just as much harm. Expect it to happen, and just be ready to rush back to whoever you were tanking.
The shaman casts the heals and chain lightning, but he never really seemed to be that big of a problem. If you can spare an interrupt, I'm pretty sure they can be countered, though I haven't had to fight him on heroic in a while. I think he can cast
Earth Shield
which can be a bother, but I've never known a group to have trouble damaging through the heals.
You didn't ask, but I'm offering my insight on the others as well.
The mage will cast a couple of typical mage spells, including
Polymorph
and
Blast Wave
. Other than that, ranged DPS. Can probably be ignored if your DPS is high enough to burn through the more dangerous champions such as the rogue. Anyone know if the mage can be poisoned or cursed to delay the casts?
The hunter is just annoying, and had to be off-tanked the last couple of times we got him. He periodically casts
Lightning Arrows
and hops backwards. Three guesses who he targets. If you can keep the aggro off of the healer, maybe you could get away without an off-tank, but I wouldn't suggest it. Our healers (when they do die) tend to get killed in about three seconds, seemingly out of nowhere. Once in melee, though, he's a pushover.
tl;dr
The poison and stuns are from the rogue, you can move and pop a trinket (or racial equivalent) or something like
Icebound Fortitude
. The throw is from the warrior, unavoidable.

You can run that instance on normal all day, until every ones bags are full of shards, if there is an enchanter in the group, or you get so bored that you would rather go run people through Dead Mines or the Stockades and realize that you indeed do have WAY to much time on your hands. But its also a good way to get your alts some decent gear. I prefer gearing my alts!

After you kill all mounted dudes and get dismounted you can simplify the fight by walking out of the instance. This way when you get back inside the 3 dudes will be in one place and this makes your tank life much easier. Alternatively you could try to kill them close to each other so when dismounted your tank can aggro all of them without running around.
Second part of the Knight fight. All dps try to reduce your aggro if possible and let tank pick up adds first. Then massive AoE from the distance (adds explode)

The simplest way to complete this dungeon is this:
Begin event, mount up, put up all 3 shields.
Joust the 3 groups of 3 adds (should be fairly simple).
Joust the boss in kill order (just so everyone knows who to target first).
Make sure you run over anyone who gets dismounted, so they don't get back up. Every once in a while, trample them again.
After jousting all the bosses, you will be forcefully dismounted. Everyone should IMMEDIATELY sprint to the exit. Don't even re equip your gear.
Once everyone has dezoned, everyone can rezone and all three champions will be waiting patiently at the entrance door. Buff, and when ready, have the tank pull (paladins may find a lot of use out of a fully talented avenger's shield, as they can be silenced).
The kill order we've used is this:
Shaman(Tauren)>Rogue(Undead)>Mage(Blood Elf)>Warrior(Orc)>Hunter(Troll)
This may work for you, but it may require revisions (we were fairly geared, so we don't have much trouble.. except for the rogue).
The most important thing is to NEVER stand in the green cloud. It will decimate your health. If you have a Shammy, drop a cleansing totem to deal with the rogue's poisons.
All of them can be stunned and silenced, and dazed.
After defeating the champions, grab the loot!
Then its time for Eadric or Confessor, and their adds.
Adds: Priestess>Lightbearer>Monk. Pull each group individually. Don't even worry about the lightwells, your DPS should be able to burn down the priestess faster than it can heal her (and some specials don't work on it, making it annoying to kill). As soon as she dies, it disappears. If you're in heroic, try to interrupt her mind control. Then kill the lightbearer. Nothing big, tank and spank with light aoe. Then the monk. In heroic he can put a debuff on you, but it'll wear off eventually. Priests can Mass Dispel it. Repeat for each group.
Then the boss becomes aggro.
Eadric: Turn your back to him whenever radiance is about to go off. Big heals if anyone gets hit by the hammer. Otherwise tank&spank.
Confessor: DPS casually until she hits 25%. She'll stun and knock everyone back, and summon an add (some boss or important character from the past.) DPS the add down fast, and avoid hitting her (she has a reflective shield). The add can fear and mass-fear (once on the mass, I think). Then unleash on her, tank&spank.
Now for the BK.
First phase is easy. Tank&spank with an add. Kill the add. Kill the BK. Second phase is bad. KILL THE ADDS FIRST. All DPS on the adds, and if you see one growing larger, run away. If you kill the boss while the adds are alive, they'll simultaneously explode. You're lucky if you can outrun them. If a DPS gets hit by more than 3, they'll probably die. Third phase is a tank&spank DPS race. Burn cooldowns, and big heals on the guy with the mark over his head (he takes 300% damage).
Collect loot; rejoice!

After you fight the faction champions,
recall your totems before you talk to Jaeran again
! A guildmate shaman of mine forgot to do so, and every pack aggroed on to us while they were coming through the entry. We wiped, and when the mobs reset, they did not reset in their normal positions. Needless to say, we had to burn every cooldown we had to get all nine of them down at the same time. >.<

This doesn't seem to be true. Every time I've been dismounted during the fight--assuming other group members are still mounted--I'll immediately leave combat and the champion chasing me will disengage. It's only at the end of the mounted phase when everyone is dismounted that they won't leave you alone.
However, Blizzard has confirmed that they're smoothing the jousting-to-foot transition in 3.2.2, and presumably the other major bugs with the champions will be fixed as well.

Remember, Death Knights can use Mind Freeze to stop most spell cast in the fights. It is essencital that you use this when the Shaman is about to Chain Heal, stopping this can make the fight last around 20 seconds shorter. And for heals on the Erik fight, I always have my back turn to him. Only time I turn around is when I use Penneace.

Does anyone else find that Blizzard has gave up on hunters? 5 out of 38 drops on Heroic mode are for hunters, I've ran this numerous times and none of them drop... Same with other Heroics, Other gear drops constantly and Hunter gear never drops, And there is also less Hunter gear than other clasess in Heroics. None of what i just said apply's for raids but you need Heroic gear to get into a raid! I'm $%^&ed at Blizzard cause there unfair and don't listen when someone complains so i can onyl express my thoughts to other players and hear there opinions:@ Please reply back with your thoughts on my topic or your own complaint about classes or drops, Thanks!

This is a great place to acquire gear to be equipped upon hitting level 80. I've been running it several times a day for the past few days on my 79 Mage, stockpiling all of the cloth/caster drops I can get to help ease her into raiding when the time comes. It beats the heck out of farming 10 man Naxx and as I said, it can be done multiple times a day. This is also a great place to farm Abyss Crystals if your guild needs them and you've got some extra time on your hands to spend piddle-farting around in TOC! :D

A good thing to point out is that, yet again, there is next to no resto shaman gear. And I can say AS a resto shaman that I have seen countless times tanks come and go after getting gear simply and an infinite amount of dps that get all of their gear for essentially free for practically doing nothing. Guess I know now why shaman go enhancement.

Another tip, for 5 man hc (probably works at normal to, but not tested). It is possible to reset the instance (before you are saved) and get another random first group.
So if you want to get an easy first group, set to hc, run in, get lance, mount and talk to elf; wait for introduction to end and see what bosses are on the mounts.
If you don't like them, run out, reset and run in. Mount, talk to elf and see what for grp you get.
The first mount group will run to the center and wait till you attack; so just stand at the side. Once you have a nice first group, you can start inviting ppl and hopefully have an easy run.
I took me 10 minutes to get shaman, hunter and mage; which was much better then the initial group of rogue, warrior and shaman.

As of patch 3.2.2., you no longer have to have someone start the dungeon in advance, nor do you have to wait for the champions to be announced. When you right click on Arelas Brightstar, you now have two options:
"I am ready."
and
"I am ready. However I'd like to skip the pageantry."
In addition, you no longer have to run out of the instance after being dismounted, the bosses just run back to the door by themselves to grab their weapons.

There are two very helpful changes to this in 3.2.2:
1) There is now an option to start the initial joust "without the pageantry" which makes the minibosses and their trash jousters spawn almost immediately. This saves several tedious minutes.
2) Those same minibosses now reset themselves back to their entrance gate after they have all been defeated in the joust. It's no longer necessary to run out to reset them.

Didn't see it in any of the previous comments, so:
If possible, try to have a shaman in the party either as DPS or Healing, doesn't matter which. If you're unlucky enough to get the Confessor, the Waking Nightmare she summons likes to Fear. A tremor totem is exceedingly useful for shutting that down, especially since you need to be focusing as much DPS on that thing as possible.
On a side note, I don't think its a straight 50/50 chance between Eadrik and the Confessor. I did at least a dozen runs yesterday, and Confessor only spawned once.
Its possible that its 50/50, but I honestly doubt it at this point.

Hope to God you aren't as horrifically unlucky as I am with this instance, I've come to hate it with a passion after initially loving it, 13 runs and 6(7 if I count the Mask with no Rogues) upgrades.

After spending the past two days working to get the full set of tanking gear, here are the strategies I've noticed that will be helpful to horde warrior tanks in reg ToC:
All bosses in this instance are disarmable, with the sole exceptions of Paletress's adds and Stage 3 Black Knight.
Encounter 1: Champions:
This fight is farely straightforward, simply tank all three bosses. You'll want to use Heroic throw on any casters, and then charge in. group them together and shockwave. You'll want to make sure the warrior or rogue boss is disarmed as often as possible. Shield bash the casters, especially Colosos as he heals himself and his fellows.
Order of importance for kill sequence goes:
Colosos
Hunter
Mage
warrior
rogue (assuming you are watching for poison ground carefully, and have intelligent dps who follow you)
Encounter 2:
The 1st part of these fights are both the same -- kill the adds, activate the encounter. Start from the left facing the boss and go right, this will help you to line up adds for shockwave, as you wont have to turn around to face the mobs after you've charged the priestess. Killsequence will be Priestess, Lightwielder, Monk. Regular drill for multi-tanking, my reccomendation is to save disarm for the lightwielder, as you wont have time to get in a disarm on both the proestess and lightwielder, and the monk has no weapon. Shield bash the heals only, dont worry about the lightwell.
Eadric:
Tank and spank. make sure your party knows to turn around at the light, but you can pretty much eat his hammer no problem even with a pally healing. Your first priority should be to disarm him, as from what I've seen he can't throw his hammer while disarmed. Berserker Rage WILL NOT eat the hammer stun.
Paletress:
Stage 1:
Burn her down, bash the first spell you see, as she doesnt heal at all in this stage. Immune to stuns.
Stage 2:
Berserker Rage will not eat the add summon period (Confession?) however it WILL eat all incapacitate effects cast by the adds. Hold onto to it until you see the add begin to cast, and then pop it. You should be able to get them both in with perfect timing, as the CD on Rage is the time in between fears.
Once the add is summoned, dont even think about Paletress. she ignores all threat and randomly casts at any party member -- make sure anyone who can heal is looking out for the main healer. The add is TnS other than the fears, just a lot of HP to go through, and all adds are immune to stuns and disarm; they deal shadow damage if you want to base a defense on that.
Stage 3:
Once again, burn her down. SHIELD BASH THE RENEW.
The Black Knight:
The Black Knight encounter begins with some dialogue. Use this time to get your party further away from him than you are. A real nice convenience to note is that his threat rolls over in between stages.
Stage 1:
After he kills the announcer, begin spamming taunt on the Black Knight. Pop Bloodrage a few seconds after he lands so you will have energy to slam/devestate once he starts attacking you.
Pop disarm right off the bat, but not more than once during stage 1, you'll want it for stage 2.
Stage 2:
As his threat rolls over onto you anyway, and he spends the first ~5 secs summoning adds, don't worry about fugly just yet. Go arounds collecting up adds while keeping Black KNight as your target -- just cast Demo Shout/TC as you run around in the cast area. Once you've collected as many as you can, get back to the knight, establish some threat, and then pop Challenging Shout. (You ought not to have had to used this yet, and something to note is that the cooldown will be done once you run this again) Shockwave all the adds, single target the Black knight. Taunt any adds that run away, however dont directly attack them. You should have overhead health bars displayed, and start moving once you begin to see the explode. a tank can eat their 3k explode and altogether deal about 25k damage (I think there's about 8 adds). You might be able to eat it, but melee dps can't. move the black knight when adds begin casting, disarm him, kill him (sort of).
Stage 3:
In his lich form, the BK is immune to disarm, so don;t worry about it. His melee attacks also become a lot of magic, so armor mitigation won't do you anything here, nor will demo shout. Use spell reflect, i haven't proven that it works, but im pretty sure it ought to work much like the last boss in UP does. Burn him down, kill him.
Hope this has helped you guys, and I promise all the work is worth it. There's some really nice tank gear in here, and the drop rates are actually rather good.

The 1st part of these fights are both the same -- kill the adds, activate the encounter. Start from the left facing the boss and go right, this will help you to line up adds for shockwave, as you wont have to turn around to face the mobs after you've charged the priestess. Killsequence will be Priestess, Lightwielder, Monk. Regular drill for multi-tanking, my reccomendation is to save disarm for the lightwielder, as you wont have time to get in a disarm on both the proestess and lightwielder, and the monk has no weapon. Shield bash the heals only, dont worry about the lightwell.
Eadric:
Tank and spank. make sure your party knows to turn around at the light, but you can pretty much eat his hammer no problem even with a pally healing. Your first priority should be to disarm him, as from what I've seen he can't throw his hammer while disarmed. Berserker Rage WILL NOT eat the hammer stun.
Paletress:
Stage 1:
Burn her down, bash the first spell you see, as she doesnt heal at all in this stage. Immune to stuns.
Stage 2:
Berserker Rage will not eat the add summon period (Confession?) however it WILL eat all incapacitate effects cast by the adds. Hold onto to it until you see the add begin to cast, and then pop it. You should be able to get them both in with perfect timing, as the CD on Rage is the time in between fears.
Once the add is summoned, dont even think about Paletress. she ignores all threat and randomly casts at any party member -- make sure anyone who can heal is looking out for the main healer. The add is TnS other than the fears, just a lot of HP to go through, and all adds are immune to stuns and disarm; they deal shadow damage if you want to base a defense on that.
Stage 3:
Once again, burn her down. SHIELD BASH THE RENEW.
The Black Knight:
The Black Knight encounter begins with some dialogue. Use this time to get your party further away from him than you are. A real nice convenience to note is that his threat rolls over in between stages.
Stage 1:
After he kills the announcer, begin spamming taunt on the Black Knight. Pop Bloodrage a few seconds after he lands so you will have energy to slam/devestate once he starts attacking you.
Pop disarm right off the bat, but not more than once during stage 1, you'll want it for stage 2.
Stage 2:
As his threat rolls over onto you anyway, and he spends the first ~5 secs summoning adds, don't worry about fugly just yet. Go arounds collecting up adds while keeping Black KNight as your target -- just cast Demo Shout/TC as you run around in the cast area. Once you've collected as many as you can, get back to the knight, establish some threat, and then pop Challenging Shout. (You ought not to have had to used this yet, and something to note is that the cooldown will be done once you run this again) Shockwave all the adds, single target the Black knight. Taunt any adds that run away, however dont directly attack them. You should have overhead health bars displayed, and start moving once you begin to see the explode. a tank can eat their 3k explode and altogether deal about 25k damage (I think there's about 8 adds). You might be able to eat it, but melee dps can't. move the black knight when adds begin casting, disarm him, kill him (sort of).
Stage 3:
In his lich form, the BK is immune to disarm, so don;t worry about it. His melee attacks also become a lot of magic, so armor mitigation won't do you anything here, nor will demo shout. Use spell reflect, i haven't proven that it works, but im pretty sure it ought to work much like the last boss in UP does. Burn him down, kill him.
Hope this has helped you guys, and I promise all the work is worth it. There's some really nice tank gear in here, and the drop rates are actually rather good.

Tip to all tanks:
Tank the bosses near the entrance portal
It gives time to healers (if ever they die) to come back and get a instant cast heal on you to put you up a little. It could be a total life saver.

As far as I can tell, Regular Trial of the Champion requires a gear score rating on 890 in order to unlock it with the new Dungeon seeking system.
So for all those new 80's wondering why you can not instantly join it try buying a few pieces off your servers AH that are a high item level and see if you can get it unlocked then.

It seems final boss phase 3 damage lesser if you closer to boss. Had very bad times as warlock or hunter dying or finishing near death standing in 10-20 yards range. By standing near boss finishing combat with more than 80% health.

Tirion's statement at the end "Go now and rest, You've earned it." is a reference to The elder scrolls 4:oblivion as this is the statement the announcer says after every successful match.
