I would agree with above ^^^
This is a MUST for all PvP Paladins, There is a nice trick for this that I used.
-When you are in range to use this against your enemy, immediatley use repentance to dismount/ stop the enemy/ seperate him from his group. (I especially find this useful when trying to catch enemies such as Flagholders)
-Now that your enemy is stopped regain a bit of mana for a second or heal (potions etc)
-now hit him again with a Hammer of Justice
-He is stunned again, Unleash your DPS

While this is a great CC for PvP and "light CC" in PvE, I really feel like it's quite underpowered. Don't get me wrong. I love this spell with all my heart. I am a Ret-arded person after all lol. But I really do think this should have been made into a baseline paladin spell. Making this "Improved Repentance" would have been sweetness.+3% increased chance that it won't be resisted and +19 seconds added to its duration against NPCs. Wonderful!
As it is? It's a staple for any Retadin out there. Be they PvP or PvE. No reason NOT to get this. But it really does need an upgrade after all this time :)

Why is this better than sheep? I know pallys needed a CC (well, sort of), but this is easily the best CC in the game! To a class that can already tank, heal, and damage!

Does it go in Diminishing Returns with other spells in PvP?
I'm thinking about the Ret/Rogue 2v2 combo, does this have a DR shared with Sap/Gouge/Blind?

Repentance (Retribution) mana cost changed to 9% of base, duration increased to 1 minute (10 second PvP duration), now usable against Demons, Dragonkin, Giants, Humanoids and Undead.

I would love to know why Sap lasts 10 seconds in PvP when it is an Incapacitate effect like Repentance, but this still only 6 seconds? The mechanics are the same, it just seems to be that Blizz is yet again favouring Rogues.

an important note is that while u get an automatic crit if u judge command on a incapacitated/stunned target... Sap counts as "Sap" and not incapacitate so it WONT automatically crit if u judge..
However both effects share diminishing returns..
I play with a rogue in 2v2 so i tested this many times
Suggestion: they should change the icon.. a sleep or something paladinish style.. 2 guys staring at something at a distance doesent seem like a worty spell icon hehe

This may be overpowered it's cc for an entire frigging minute. You could take an opposing team's player out of battle for an entire minute if you wanted, provided they had no way to escape it.

I totally agree with kibo, I am planning on speccing on prot and using this skill as well as I can see that this skill gives u 2 stuns per minute not just 1 and the ability to heal up any time :)
And prot is really an overlooked tree - just look at Imp. DEV aura and Toughness that give great extra armor, and Reckoning and repentance that allow u to heal several times oer minute without beinb interrupted, unless ur opponent has insugnia...then u use repentance....
AND Imp. Blessing of freedom, use it against hunters and mages and u will see why this tree kixks more but than the other 2, seriuosly - try it, I amgona respec to prot and se how it works and I have no doubt I will be pleased ^^

Hi,
I use it very often in PvP. Its range is longer than the HoJ and uses diferent timer so I use it to get into combat range. If the enemy tries to run again then HoJ.
I tried stun-lock a mob while killing the other but the timers are too long and both skills (Rep, HoJ) fade too fast.

Whenever i use this in PvP (which is often) i have never seen insignia being used on it, and im sure ppl have tried it, so this is REALLY useful for getting in one quick heal.

i find the rep-HoJ semi stunlock pretty usefull 4 some extra SoC judgements but u kinda need something like 11+/x/31+
have sanctity aura and SotC up before this (bonus points if vengeance procs :)
cast SoC. if ur target doesn't seem to want to flee (full health, melee class that sorta things) or there r more targets also cast consecration before SoC.
as soon as u can, HoJ and judge SoC. Refresh SoC and u'll prolly get to attack once-twice after this
cast repetance, judge SoC as soon as it lights up and refresh it
this is pretty unreliable cause ppl can trinket out of stuns but u can hurry up with the repent and usually u get the judgements before they break them anyway
now u spent about 600mana (consecrate not included) and did about 800 certain unmitigated dmg + whatever SoC procs or melee strikes u got lucky with AND stunlocked ur target for about 3-9 secs (3 if the target used a trinket)
if u had cast consecrate before the HoJ it would prolly get all tics and not break rep early which means an extra 400 if fighting one target (so mana inefficient against one ...)
what do u say?

No, it doesn't. It doesn't work on incapacitation. I easily forget that it doesn't. It only works against fear, charm, and stun (can't remember if it's stun, though). I know it doesn't work cause earlier on today while I was playing I was sapped by a rogue and I couldn't WotF out of it.

1. Hammer of Justice has a
10 yard range
2. Repentance has a
20 yard range
3. Hammer of Wrath has a long
30 yard range
These ranges are not random, use each ability appropriately and you will see the benefits of each skill.

My strategy for battlegrounds/world pvp is to first throw a stun grenade, then run ip, get in first hit, hammer of justice, get in second and possibly third hit, then repentance, fourth hit. At that point theyre boned because youve already nearly killed them, and theyve been stunned the entire time.

Has someone ever made the comparaison?
REPENTANCE
= WAY lower mana cost - 60 mana? oh oh
= Almost IDENTICAL DAMAGE dealt with Judgement of Command and the bonus to damage due to the incapacitate effect
= + RANGED INCAPACITATE = so many uses
HOLY SHOCK
= Instant Heal but EXTREM mana cost.
THIS should even not be the use of a SHOCK.
But come a few patches, and then Holy Paladins are relegated to pure support even in their offensive tools, although it was promised it would have never been the case - THIS, is important.
WHICH GIVES
By evidence repentance is the winner by a large margin. Has someone never seen this? Ready to argue against that?
Additional note: Not only on Repentance but Retribution paladins have overall a better talent tree.
If memory serves, this has always been the case.

However in the next minor patch this will be dispellable by the PvP trinket along with stuns, blinds, fears or whatever.

Im a ret spec pally and this talent is PRICELESS in pvp/pve
One thing pallys lack in is spell disruptions. We only have our 6 sec stun (which is awesome but suck with the 1m cooldown)
however while fighing any spellcasters try casting repentance midway through their cast, it interupts, costs them mana and set you up for a judgement on SoC.
At first i though this was a crap spell but got it anyway cuz i wanted fanaticism now i use it on all spellcaster mobs first (cheap cost) and when/of they try to run just stunn them for the finish. A+ spell. (kinda useless on meele unless u need to heal or proc the SoC judgment

Ok, I don't get this skill I guess. Can it be used on multiple enemies? Is there a cooldown? Can I recast it to keep one enemy from ever attacking?

this spell is only attainable through the ret talent tree and only work on world creature humaniods and not other players.

I'm thinking this could be used as a Pally's "poor-man" version of polymorph to take care of adds while engaging another mob. Maybe the duration get's better with higher ranks like all the other talent-exclusive spells.

From what I've read, the value of this is: if you've already chosen to get Holy Shield, you may want to consider getting this, too. Why? If you pvp a lot it is a second stun to use at the end of the fight when the target is about to flee.
The argument I read is that you save up as much firepower as you can for the end when the enemy turns to flee. Stun, judge a damage-doing seal - throw a bomb if yer an engi timed to do it's 2 second stun as your first stun ends - then if target is still alive do THIS stun and whack-a-mole. You should be able to kill at this point.
Never tried it, my pal is still under 20. But this is the value of this from what I've read. Is it worth it? I guess it is if you constantly get people running from you in pvp and you want to kill.
Of course having a second stun is useful in other circumstances, obviously - like if you need to run, like to stop the target from healing self, etc.

Compare this talent to a rogue's Gouge skill. You use this to set up your opponent for a powerful attack or to run away while your opponent is unable to follow.
Thing with paladins is, however, we don't get any abilities that are much more powerful than another. Best way I can see to use this skill is to throw on a quick bandage while your opponent can't attack and even get back a couple ticks of mana while you are at it.
If this ability were just 2-4 seconds longer then people would REALLY gripe about paladins.

You CAN cast this on other players (you know players are humanoids too! OH MY GODZILLA)
Second

This is mainly used to:
1- Interrupt a caster that thinks it's an easy heal now that Hammer of Justice is out.
2- Make another double damage Judgement of Command (Yes, it also triggers the double damage)
3- Block this one dude on his epic mount running to Stormpike GY in AV. (It has extended range, a few yards more than Hammer of Justice)
Lastly
------
Do not think about using a stun/concecration/judge SoC combo with this thing, this a 6 seconds GOUGE, Damage = taking it out.

It should be mentioned that Will of the Forsaken, the Undead raciel, does not Remove Repentance. Some paladins disregard this talent saying they'll just use WotF to drop it any(Repentence is a sleep effect), but the Raciel does not remove this ability. The only way to remove this debuff other then it wearing off, is for the target to be damaged or dispelled.
I don't know if the same is true for Stoneform, but since Dwarves are on your team, it shouldn't be a concern.(Raciel says, removes sleep, but since WotF doesn't, I doubt it would)

This is a 31 point talent in the Ret tree, meaning you can't get this until level 40 at the earliest.

This spell is also used my the Maiden of Virture in Karazhan, lasts about 12 seconds, i think that Druids in Tree of Life form are immune to it
