That is, if you are a normal raider for instance, your normal raid provides enough reagents to allow you to to craft a limited amount of ~normal raid item level gear without needing to go do a bunch of other stuff. But if say, you wanted to craft heroic raid tier gear as a normal raider, you could choose to go do other activities such as m+, pvp, or challenging outdoor activities to supplement the reagents required and get better gear sooner.
In general we’d like crafted gear to feel like something you are earning at a satisfying rate along side your other gear sources. Say you had bad luck and got no drops while raiding, you’ll still be making progress towards some high end crafted gear…and say you just can’t get legs to drop for you, you may choose to have legs crafted to fill in that particular slot with a larger upgrade.
For some crafted gear, you might also need to seek out a special rare drop off a certain mob in the world, a dungeon, or a raid as well. Earning crafted gear should feel like a bonus, an adventure, and a social experience.
The goal is that the pursuit of profession progression is through compelling and fun activities over spending lots of gold though. Gold will of course still have its place. You may still want to buy reagents or make orders for high end crafting gear for instance, but it should not be a gate to your ability to dive into and have lots of success with your chosen professions.
One thing I want to talk about that we haven’t mentioned yet is the concept of recrafting. It’s still in the works so is likely to change some, but the basic idea is as follows:
Recrafting will allow you to take any piece of Dragonflight crafted gear and bring it back into the crafting screen as a crafter. You can then spend a special reagent, plus a small subset of the original reagents from the recipe to “recraft the item”.
During this process, you can completely change out optional reagents if you want. The new quality of the item will be determined based on the new setup of reagents, plus your current skill. This means you can have an item crafted at a low quality, then later recraft it when you are higher skill to a higher quality.
For non-crafters, we are planning to support recrafting orders as well. In this case, you can send you item to get recrafted to have its optional reagents changed out, or to potentially have its quality increased.
All of this should help players feel comfortable having a high end item crafted early, when it might not be at max quality, secure in the knowledge that they can always have it recrafted to be better later.
Listen up. I’m zazzyfraz. I’m gonna drop some Knowledge here about twink BoEs in Shadowlands as a reputable seller and trader of goods between twinks and an actual twink player myself. I’m tired of seeing these box opening videos touting random BoEs as possible twink items. These possibly add unnecessary confusion or mystery about previously-tested loot tables to farmers. SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FARMER FRIENDS WHO ARE FARMING TWINK ITEMS FOR GOLD.
The value of twink items isn’t hard to decide based on looking at an item and it’s stats and comparing to what’s available.
BoE twink items are of value because of their power, possible strong/useful special effects, and rarity. All of these factors are in consideration of a vast amount of powerful Soulbound/Bind on Pickup items available for free from any possible dungeons/rares/chests/quests at the targeted twinks level.
Twinking generally means getting the strongest items possible for a level. Past this, collecting the best swag/rare/cool items possible/available is a very very niche activity some very dedicated twinks might be into. So your targeted premium “twink gear buyer” here for many clickbait twink gear videos are extremely rare, but they do exist.
The most active twink level is 20. Level 20 is the cap for wow-accounts that are un-subbed, and wow-accounts that are purely starter edition who never had gametime. Level 20 has access to island expeditions, many dungeons, and can join the very active 20-29 leveling PvP bracket via battlegrounds and arena skirmishes if their XP is kept on with their level capped to 20 via the account status restriction.
Other "official" twink levels are 1, 10, 30, 39, 50.
All with much less player base and BoE buying activity. So you decided to target the 20 twink customer..
You need to be aware of the non-BoE items a 20 can get from many sources if you want to be effective in your item valuation. Pricing can be subjective, but a general market value can be placed on nearly all items, based on the many instances of items sales so far in SL. Because useful and in demand items, tend to actually sell.https://twinkdb.github.io/ is an extremely valuable resource created by a twink player. It is a database of useful and viable items available at 20, and contains some information on their ranking compared to other options, and ease of obtaining. Some common BoEs are listed, but the site is mainly aimed at gear obtainable as a solo player.
You need to know where the level 20s play. With the addition of many new gear sources for 20s with Shadowlands level squish, twinking has become very community and peer to peer trading oriented compared to previous iterations. This leads to more clustering of players on popular twink realms or in twink guilds.
US/NA: Bleeding Hollow is the main NA region twink realm. Some twinks play on other realms such as Stormrage, Kelthuzad, Blackwing Lair, Thrall. But any serious auction house or trading goes on at Bleeding Hollow server. You'll make your farmer toons here.
EU: Ravencrest, Stormscale, Argent Dawn. Lesser activity on Draenor. Many players on Russian realms play but language barrier brings complications on pricing, buyer wealth and demand. I'm from NA so this is just from what I have seen based on community activity and guilds.
So... lets list the BoEs then.
First let's go over some basic scaling rules:
Items usable by 20s are looted by toons level 17-25.Greens: i28 lvl 19 armor, looted by 24/25. i25 lvl 19 weapons/offhand/shield, looted by 22/23.
World drop Blues: i28 lvl 19 armor, looted by 22/23. Level 20 loots lvl 18, ilvl 26 armor. i27 lvl 20 weapons/offhand/shield, looted by 20.
Dungeon specific Blues: all are i25 lvl 20, looted by 20.
World Epics: i28 lvl 20 armor, looted by 20. i27 lvl 18 weapons/shield looted by 17/18.
Specific source loot(Foamspittle Staff, Blackvenom Blade): all are green i24, blue i25, epic i26, looted by 20.
Lockboxes, most junkboxes, and chests follow these rules above. You can open a Legion lockbox and look at it's contents, and mail to a looter, the item will re-scale before being removed. Useful for picking a level you want a socketed green item on. (maybe to gear a farming toon or non-20).
ilvl 29 level 20 Vanilla Epic Armor is unobtainable version from BFA. Most are only desired for swag.
ilvl 26 level 16, and ilvl 28 level 19 Epic Vanilla Weapons/Shields are unobtainable version from BfA.
ilvl 28 lvl 20 Vanilla Blue weapons/offhands are unobtainable version from BfA."Farming toons?"
Don't skimp on twinking out your 18-25 farm toons with socketed green BoEs or other strong items for its level if you aren't using a higher level toon to farm.
Cobalt Frag Bomb,
Frag Belt,
Ramstein's Lightning Bolts and
Hunger of the Pack are 4 powerful tools to help farm that any serious farm toon should have access to. The consumable version Frag Bombs can be skipped if on a budget.
The best selling and most active farm is simple:Perfect Statted+Socketed+with Speed/Leech Legion or BfA level 19 i28 greens via a level 24/25. Legion is better because you can loot items with "single-stat" suffixes. Some socketed rings necks and capes will have value even without perfect stats, or bonus "tertiary" stats. Armor will go for less. Anything needs a socket for value. Lockboxes unlocked on any toon and sent to 25 will drop scaled greens as well. Any legion hyperspawn spot works.
Bluewax Graverobber location in Highmountain is popular.
This market has the most buyers, sellers, and volume of daily sales. Pricing can vary heavily, and certain drops can sell for large gold amounts. If you like this type of multi-layer RNG hyperspawn farm, you can farm
Perfect Statted+Socketed+Speed/Leech BfA level 19 i25 weapons/offhand/shield on a level 22/23. These will mostly sell based on their secondary stat combination. Offhands are the best seller in my opinion, as these are considered BiS (best in slot) compared to other options at 20. A common farm spot is
Fallhaven Pig location in Drustvar.
That's it for valuable twink BoE greens.
