Since it is a stun, that makes a good case for Master's Call and Divine Purpose to be able to remove it. Though if you also look at the restore part, that is ALSO a period heal of 1800 every 2 seconds, so theres no benifit potionwise to cancel early.
Overall, with Potion Sickness, this becomes the ideal mana pot for raiding when you're on raid heal duty, used on rotations with other healers picking up healing for the 6 seconds you're out of commission.
Depending on the mana efficiency of healers in Naxx and such, itd probably be worth a 6 sec downtime from someone for the extra 2k, compared to them going OOM and throwing piddly nothings over 30+ sec while they regen.
Not for short fights like Brut, but a Kalec/Felmyst/etc type of fight these would be the bomb.

Perfect for combination with
Dispersion
if you're utterly out of Mana as a Shadow priest. Given that you can't cast in the time anyway, adding 90% damage reduction effectively removes all "vulnerability" of a six-second stun.
EDIT: The comment below raised an interesting question for me: If Dispersion cancels Nightmare Slumber, will it prevent Nightmare Slumber from being applied? I tested this. First, I used a Potion and then Dispersed and, as lihaug says, Nightmare Slumber was removed. Then, instead, when Dispersion came off cooldown again, I cast
Dispersion first, then used the potion
. Nightmare Slumber
was
applied as normal and both effects restored my mana.
Dispersion will remove Nightmare Slumber, but does not make you immune to Nightmare Slumber. Cast Dispersion first, then use a Potion of Nightmares while you are dispersed

Just an FYI because I myself was curious. This CANNOT be used after casting Paladin bubbles, it consumes the potion and says "Nightmare Slumber failed <Name> was immune."

Some quick facts about this potion - just verified by myself (Edit: and updated for patch 3.2.0 ;) )
Effect lasts for 6 seconds; during that time you will regenerate 5400 health and mana while
not
wearing an Alchemist's Stone (6 ticks; 1 per second, each for 900 health and mana)
This potion
is
affected by any
Alchemist's Stone
- you will regenerate 7560 health and mana while wearing one. (6 ticks; 1 per second, each for 1260 health and mana)
The regeneration is no longer interrupted by damage, nor will you lose any ticks through casting/channeling pushback. Also, damage taken is no longer increased while under the effect of this potion.
Contrary to the old
Dreamless Sleep Potions
, this potion's
debuff
cannot be dispelled by using
Cleanse
or
Dispel Magic
since it doesn't count as a magical debuff. Rejoice! :)
To cancel the effect, just move. However, if you can't get at least 5 out of the 6 regeneration ticks, you're better off by using a
Runic Mana Potion
or a
Crazy Alchemist's Potion
instead, so think twice if you can spare the time.

Just thought I should quantify the "extremely vulnerable" line in these potions.
At first I believed that element was just the stun however it appears it doubles damage taken.
Used one of these on Heroic Kel'thuzad and (admittedly due to my own bad timing) took a 13k frostbolt.
Later tested with a shaman, ES crit for 2.4k without potion and then for 5.1k with the potion, so I think the assumption of double damage is safe.

Great for shammys, if you die in a boss fight, pop reincarnation and then use one of these to help restore some hp and mana.

This just in (jan 7th 2009 PTR patchnotes):
Potion of Nightmares functionality changed. You can now move to interrupt the effect, and damage taken is no longer increased while you are under the effects of this potion.
So what Halfs said -

There seems to have been another change as well (although I don't know when it went into effect): I just tested this potion and it looks like they changed it to a per second instead of a per-2-second effect; instead of 3 ticks for 1800 (mana) per tick, it ticked 6 times for 900 mana per tick.

I consider this a kickass pot,especially for alchemists that have the alchemist's stone.As a priest 6 seconds of just doing nothing is not something impossible,as we do have to regen mana from time to time by staying out of the 5 second rule.It is unusable in some circumstances and encounters such as Saphiron but if you do find yourself in drastic need of mana and there isn't a pressing issue as healing a low hp raid member or having to nuke badly a mob/boss then this is the pot for you!
I suggest packing a stack of these babies and runic mana potions/injector to get the best of both,depending on the need.Being able to use just one pot per fight makes that 1 pot count as hell.
