This is actually a phenomenal set for a raiding rogue that doesn't have optimal Blackwing Lair-level or better gear. Slice and Dice is the most-used finisher of any raiding rogue using daggers, so saving energy on it is a great bonus, but each item also has stats that rival or beat out equivalent gear from Molten Core (Core Hound Tooth, Quick Strike Ring, Cloak of Shrouded Mists, etc.).

It's a pain to get the rep, but very much so worth while. If you are grinding up the rep, make sure to grab the drops from in AQ20 when you can. I had to wait a few weeks after I finally maxed out my rep waiting for the stupid hilt to drop.
There are guides elsewhere around this site for efficient rep gaining around here, but if you spend enough time in Silithus you'll get it eventually

This is is most usefull to combat spec dagger rogues.
On a long boss fight when raiding the most usefull finisher to a combat rogue, dagger or otherwise is slice and daice. -10 energy on the cost of this skill is alot 10% of you total energy ( before spec and T1 set 5/8), This alows you to keep a 5 point ( with tallents in improved slive and dice) up all the time.
The best way to get reputation is through quest and bosskills inside AQ as well as handing in texts.

youd proc your poisons 20% more as well, which accounts for alot of your dps, if you didnt know
all for 1 point (not many mobs will last 9 seconds)

Lets say you have two weapons, each doing 100dps (being realistic doesnt matter just making a piont and keeping the maths simple).
Now you start fighting, straight away you can sinister strike and hit with slice and dice, there we go 30% faster. That now goes to 130dps. Lets say that the mob only lasts for 9 seconds.... thats 1,170 damage per weapon, so thats in all 2,340 damage (not worring about other abilities at the moment, and poison would just raise the dps more).
Now lets say for this 9 seconds you saved your points towards doing an eviscrite, you might be able to get 3 max, hit with eviscrite and thats aprox. 200-300 damage. so thats 900 damage per weapon so thats 1,800 + 200-300 thats 2,000 - 2,100 damage
(2,340 damage, at the moment anyways :P is higher then 2,000) There for slice and dice does rule.
Heres a quick calc for 30 second battle:
100*30% = 130*30seconds = 3900*2 weapons = 7800
Now eviscrite:
100*30 seconds = 3000*2 weapons = 6000 + (maybe 600 - 1000 (if crit)) = 6600 - 7000
Again lower,
In Conclusion..... Slice and Dice = Better.

Say you have 100 dps main hand and 75 dps off hand (if you were using the same weapon in your off hand and had 5 points in dual wield spec this is what it would be)
So using this you would have the following:
Without S & D:
� Main hand damage over 9 seconds: 100 DPS * 9 seconds = 900 damage � 19% (to account for your dual wield miss rate) = 729 damage
� Off hand damage over 9 seconds: 75 DPS * 9 seconds = 675 damage � 19% = 547 damage
So total damage over 9 seconds without S & D would be 1276 damage
With S & D:
� Main hand damage over 9 seconds: 130 DPS * 9 seconds = 1170 damage � 19% (to account for your dual wield miss rate) = 948 damage
� Off hand damage over 9 seconds: 97.5 DPS * 9 seconds = 877.5 damage � 19% = 711 damage
So total damage over 9 seconds with S & D would be 1658 damage
So the difference from using S & D instead of eviscerate would net you 383 additional damage over 9 seconds, now the last time I checked a 3 point eviscerate (rank 8) will net you 552-648 damage.
The trick is that you don�t have to replace one with the other. Use S & D as soon as you get your first point then fill in with eviscerate until your S & D wears off. And ONLY use 1 combo point for S & D any more than that is a waste.
Of course I did not factor in any damage reduction as a result of defense but it would scale the same.
ALSO 30% increased attack speed will not equal a 30% increase in DPS it will vary depending on the weapon damage and speed and whether it is in your main hand or your off hand.

I had an opportunity to take eskhander's claw in a
MC raid. Guild was about to DE it, so I said "why not"
respecced my rogue. Slice & Dice & Blade Flurry,
w/cold blood.
In one of the best guilds in the game, I consistantly fall 3rd in damage dealt. S&D; is very good. Here's why I think so:
1. overdamage. Many specced rogues try to go for most dmg per hit. You're going to over-damage enemies. what a waste. W/this spec, you can meter your damage more appropriately, thereby accumulating less aggro.
2. Casters. Casters hate this spec. They're getting hit very fast, so they can't get the spells off.
3. Blade flurry w/slice & dice. Umm....yeah. damaging 2 mobs simultaneously is so, so very nice. Twice the dmg! Oh, and if I use cold blood on a topped off finisher...well, that's also x2!
Try to think outside of the box. I see many rogues comment on damage dealt, multipliers, etc. for only 1 mob. but if you can speed up AND hit 2nd mob, this will be better for the raid. Often (even in MC) you will find S&D;/Blade Flurry a vicious combo that will prevent adds from multiplying, kill casters, etc.
Also awesomely handy when fighting Razorgore & such. It's me & 1 druid taking on all mages on the western/southern wall. frees up 12 party members to assist w/other chaos in Razorgore.

Hey, here's one other thought: why not get this set? It won't hinder Nightslayer whatsoever, so you'll just get this additional set bonus on top of full nightslayer bonuses.

Does anyone know how to complete the quests that give you this set? I have 3 Quests for AQ and no info about them except to gather the items in the qeust log. Can you do it in a 10 man AQ run or what? Any info would help.

Why is everyone acting like it has to be an either or with SaD or eviscerate. You get 9 seconds(longer with talents) out of ONE combo point with SaD, diminishing returns on that one gives you less and less time per point after that. . . put two talent points into improved SaD, get 12secs for one point. 12 secs is more than long enough to get your points up to eviscerate. You'll have slice and Dice active the whole time, and still get good finishers. . .

I like the set bonus but not the items.. the ring and cloak are passable for blues I guess. The dagger is actually a really nice offhand, except if you're sword spec like me, in which case you have to wield one less sword to get the SnD bonus that'd help out for sword spec+SnD+BF.

Besides from the mediocre set bonus the stats are pretty nice. If any of you looked at it you will notice that you are getting an increase of 45 agility which stacks really nicely with plus 15 agillity on weap enchants and from this set and those enchants alone you are gettin 75 agility. There is also a good bit of strength and stamina as well =/.

i know you guys were't exactly talking about haemoragge but im just wondering, is it that good? i mean all it does in the end is inc phyical dmg taken by 7?ithink, is that relaly that much dmg increase?

This is a great set bonus for a 17/24/10 build if you have another heavy hitter in the main hand (Perdition's is a good place to start). The 50% damage to off hand talent in combat is required if you off hand the DoVS as poison proc 30% isn't going to make up for the base off hand miss chance. 10 energy reduction on SnD is
big
on a 25 point cost ability you should use in 100% of your PvE fights.
Think about it this way: if you are 31/20/0 and you main hand this weapon and you always SnD every fight that's like having +10 energy. You have vigor so that's another +10 energy. If you have 5/8 Nightslayer that's another +10 energy; its nearly like having 130 energy.
In a 17/24/10 build its also like having an extra 10 energy assuming you open with ambush followed by SnD - energy regeneration will take care of the rest.
I have tried both. I am 17/24/10 now with 4 of 8 Darkmantle (2% chance to restore 35 energy). The set bonus for Veiled Shadows is incredible. The ring is weak (compared to, say, Might of Cenarius) but perhaps a 1% to hit on the ring would be a bit overkill. If your guild is farming tier 1 starting BWL there's no reason why you shouldn't acquire this set unless you're unable to cope with the grind to exalted Cenarion Circle.
What, would you rather have a -0.5 second cooldown on kick?

On the setbonus: Keeping S&D; up is in most PvE situations a good idea. Simply put, 10 energy: it's worth an 1/4 extra sinister or 1/6 backstab. A typical combat dagger rogue will do ~3 backstab's followed by s&d.; So you could argue the set bonus is worth ~6% damage boost to backstab/sinister strike. Since a large part is 'white' damage the overall gain of this set boni is ~3% damage boost. As far as PvE content is concenred, 2-3% extra crit wouldn't be much better (yes, seal fate rogues won't agree here).
The set has a nice bit of agi that's worth around 2% crit. The dagger has a slight edge over 'Fang of the faceless' from the PvE point of view. Same goes for the 2% chance to hit. Since patch 1.8: "Items which provide +hit chance will now be allowed to counteract the increased miss chance penalty of dual-wielding." For the more PvP oriented rogues specs it helps to get the extra 6% chance to hit for the 'classical' raid level 63 mobs. Again this should roughly equal 2% extra overall damage.
Those who are more into the combat tree: They can further increase their white damage (see 1.8 patch notes), though they profit from this set boni less, since only around 50% is white damage and precision is a requirement for dual-wielding...so more like an extra 1% overall damage.
And to all those poster above with their 'diminishing returns' from s&d.; Ever considered the finisher requires some extra energy as well? And in particular if you renew your slice and dice every 9(12) secs you won't ever have the time to build up combo points needed for an evi with an better damage/energy ratio compared to sinister strike or backstab.

SnD isnt good at all for PvP though. I only use it for PvE.

I labbed Slice and Dice v Evicerate dueling my friend. Slice and Dice is great if they are higher level and you notice you've been missing alot, so of course its a good idea to use it on elusive targets. However, the absolute BEST time to use slice and dice is when you have a lot of combo points stored up on an enemy that is almost dead. Why waste all those combo points on one huge hit when you only need to squeeze a few drops of life from your enemy. You will continue to benefit from Slice and Dice as you move on to your next enemy. It's the only finishing move that carries over to the next mob.
Evicerate is risky because it cost more energy and has less of a chance to hit, but it will help you survive by killing the enemy sooner so that you aren't taking damage.
Final Analysis:
Slice and Dice for multiple enemies.
Evicerate when a chance for a crit is important.
How you use these is much more important than which one does the most damage.

With the set bonus and relentless strikes (which any self-respecting rogue with points in the assasination tree has) Slice and Dice has a chance to actually GIVE you energy. Thats pretty cool. To bad this set is so outdated =(
