We did this and the ruby achievement at the same time. Our first attempt was with everyone in the party having a amber drake and doing a rotation on who was using shock and who was channeling. Our best try was 17% with nicely timed stuns.
After about an hour with trial and error we decided to swap out the five Amber drakes with five Emerald. The taccs was bounch up in a group and try to stay as close to eachother as we could while kiting the boss in a big circle and spamming Leeching poison and Touch of Nightmare whenever it was up.
This worked quite nice, the only problem we had was the boss kept resetting if we didnt get him to the banish phase fast enough.
So if your trying to get the achievements in oculus done i suggest you go for everyone in the group using the Emerald Drake and get both the Amber and Ruby achievements done in one reset.

Just did this along with the Ruby void achievement. We started off with a few wipes (4/5 of our group had never done this place) so we tried 2 emerald 2 amber 1 ruby. At 50% everyone was dead except for me and I managed to get him to ~10% alone (with emerald). Then we just did a 5 emerald and it was cake, altough it took a while.
Because you don't need to face him to cast the poison ability, all you have to do is to hit num lock, spam it while someone keeps the - dmg debuff up. Just fly around in circle for a while. You might get out of range but he will eventually catch up. When I did this I had aggro from 100-30% when I lost it cause I kept running out of range and other people kept spamming, which change much.
As of the huge amount of adds that might spawn, they really aren't anything to worry about, as you can outrange their cast. They are kind of useful though to keep yourself alive if you get low. When I was alone during our 10% wipe I found it quite handy to have these drakes to keep you alive. Just dot them and keep flying, otherwise they will outdamage your healing.
With this strat I'm sure you could even solo this, but it would take a really long time! Good luck!

Used the five emerald strat tonight. Was *very* easy to do with the right flight path set out.
In terms of vertical height (Z-axis), you want to be level with Eregos as often as possible. There seems to be no risk with going higher, but if you go too low he'll despawn - so being level with him seems like the safest guideline.
In terms of berth (X and Y axis of your circular route) you want to be flying in a circle over the three platforms where you fight the third boss' adds. This will give you a large enough circle to ensure the whelps are always behind you and don't cut across the centre platform.
Basically, one drake pulls with a DoT, then starts flying in a circle with the group (we chose to pull Eregos when he was on the west side of his platform, then kite in an anti-clockwise circle starting from the south). All five drakes maintain a 3 stack of the poison on Eregos at all times. Targetting the whelps is not necessary, and can actually lead to death if you're trying to maneuver too close to them. In terms of the "Touch of the Nightmare" ability, the four drakes *without* aggro use it when they're at 95%+ health. The drake with aggro never uses it as they cannot risk taking the extra damage.
Whenever Eregos enrages, the four non-aggro'd drakes stop for a second to heal the aggro drake. It's very easy to do this, simply press assist (default: F) to target the aggro'd drake, press 3 to channel the heal for a few secs, then press assist again to retarget Eregos.
Aside from those points, the only thing to watch out for is the whelps in the immunity phase. You still want to be flying in your circle away from Eregos (in order to avoid the orbs), but you need to keep an eye on the whelps and make sure they don't cut accross the platform and catch up to you. The simplest way to do this is increase your circle's berth a little bit, bringing them further out, and even stop for a short period if you're far enough away from the orbs.
In this case, this strat feels very solid and repeatable, and indeed our group two shot it after we got used to the 'finer' points of the strat (not using Nightmare Touch when aggro'd, not letting whelps cut across, and how to easily heal the aggro target).

The easiest of the three voids in my opinion, if you want you can do the 5 emerald kiting strategy above for 2 achievements.
Else, if you looking to complete this easily, just do 3 rubys 2 emeralds... nothing special is needed, you just wont benefit from a time stop or from extra damage from their channeled spell, so the healers will be working overtime.
EDIT: The emerald kiting strategy was fixed by Blizzard, the whelps attacks will have infinite range after a certain time period

Went in tonight to do this achievement so i started reading up strategys on here. Used the 5 Emeral drake way because i saw alot of people saying its the best way. We managed it on 3rd try after changing the person who was kiting, have to say it may take a while but its very easy to do it this way.

Been trying the emerald whelp strat for the last half hour and we've been encountering a problem. It appears the whelps will just shoot arcane bolts at any range. They take a long time, roughly 3 minutes before they actually hit, but they all hit at once and kill you very quickly. Not sure how to remedy the situation, we've always been at max range and the whelps have never been in range, it just doesn't make sense.
Also, the arcane bolts from the whelps are apparently invisible. No one has seen a single arcane bolt yet we all get wiped by them.

Just completed this achievement (post 3.0.8) with 1 red and 4 greens.
I had read some information above about doing this with 5 green drakes, and I had also been reading that blizzard made some changes to the whelps to try and squash this out, but this achievement was very easy with 4 greens and 1 red.
RED: tank, kill the adds and use evasion.
GREEN: develop an order to rotate through nightmare, keep 3 stacks of your main attack up at all times, have least 2 or 3 of the greens heal red during enrage.
The trickiest part is really just making sure that the green drakes watch their own health while healing, since we had no problem at all keeping the red drake up. This may mean mixing up the nightmare rotation and having the green drake which has the most health cast it.
Overall, a pretty safe and easy way to do the achievement with a somewhat co-ordinated group.

Did it yesterday with 3 red, 2 green. I think its the optimal - perfect in means of survival and dps strategy. 3 red drakes can use evasion and shield to keep party protected almoust all the time. 2 healers can keep tanks up with no problems at all. Adds go down in a few seconds - they just have no time to do any damage.
We did 5 amber drakes with the same group a day before - it was hard, but really not impossible. It took us around 2 hours of wiping to do this - but it definitely worth it. Stay focused, use vent to communicate and announce channeling rotatition - and you will do it.
The best achievements from Glory of the hero in my oppinion - they dont need any equipment, just pure focus and tactics.
And i'm quite sure that people who did all 3 achievements will have no problems on 3d phase of Malygos.

Green drakes - don't try to chip in any DPS with your Nightmare ability. The 30% hp loss is almost impossible to recover given the total absence of the whelps. And don't worry about keeping everyone's drake topped off, just above 60-70% is enough. You'll need some idle time to recover your own health.

the 2 reds just dpsed boss and us 3 emeralds healed them and kept poison stacks up, also running to another platform during phase 2 or astral plane phase

The 5-Bronze Drake strategy worked fine for my group post 3.0.8. Did it just two nights ago. Haven't tried Emerald yet.

We did this achievement and Emerald void at the same time.
Group Setup:
-Shadowpriest
-Protpala
-Retripala
-Hunter (me)
-Resto-shammy (full t7,5)
3 of our drakes had both BoK and Fortitude, giving the drakes around 91K hp for better survivability.
Everyone picked up ruby drakes (aka tank-drake). We engaged the boss near the platform on which the loot chest is on. The shammy started out tanking and when his drake died, he fell onto the platform and started to heal the other group members. The rest of us used our tanking abilities as soon as we had max HP.
With this strategy it only took us 2 tries. First try we got him down to 450K. Our healer went OOM when Eregos was at 100K but we had enough time to kill him anyway.
You will need either a very good healer (which we had) or good teamplay (which we quite honestly lacked, but we pulled it off anyway). It actually wasn't as hard as you might think.

We did this and Emerald Void last night by having 4 people on red drakes and me dismounted on the loot platform healing. The group was Holy Priest (me), Prot Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Ret Pally. Buff the drakes to increase their hp by 16,000. This is pretty hard and requires a healer with very good gear/regen (I'm in t7.5). Also, I think a priest is ideal for this, due to Arcane Barrage. The whelps are not an issue, since the red drakes eat them up. Eragos' melee damage, even while enraged, is not such a big deal if the current target uses evasion.
Pre-pull, I dropped a Lightwell (60 seconds early), which is very handy for this fight. The red drakes just went in and blasted him, with no thought to who had aggro. Arcane Barrage was annoying, but the Lightwell covered the first 10 hits (60k healing for no mana). When Lightwell was fully consumed, I used Binding Heal until the cooldown was up (reminded me of range-tanking 4H). My main heal was Greater Heal, so I used 4/5 t7.5 for the reduced mana cost. Still, I had to use pretty much every tool to get mana, including Darkmoon Card: Illusion, Hymn of Hope, and a mana pot with Alchemist's Stone.
Ironically, when we lost two people during the second kiting phase, the healing got a whole lot easier and I was able to regen as fast as I spent it. This is due to two factors: First, Arcane Barrage hits fewer targets, resulting in less overall damage. Second, the remaining 2 drakes get hit more each, which increases their charges of evasive manuevers, allowing them to keep it up a lot more.
For groups considering this, I'd recommend this strat if you have a geared healer who is mana efficient (or a regen fiend). Ironically it's probably easier to use this tactic now before the regen nerf in 3.1. Good luck!

works perfectly with any setup after this tactic.. i found out by mistake (im a holy paladin) when my drake died and i landed on the platform..... and i thought to myself.... hey wth.... ill try and heal the drakes as if they were pets... with 18-19 k crits and a decent mana pool you should have no problem what so ever...... in fact one of the party members which was on emerald drake got DC and i was left with all the healing of all the other 3 drakes lol..... if #$%^ hits the fan a second healer is very handy in this fight....

Its easy but... very long fight.
We used 3 rubies and 2 emerald for it. Whelps died in no time... Only problem = use evasive manevours on enrage and be heald by ur healers... long because of low ruby damage but if u can keep focus thru all fight - its OK.
We needed 4 attempts on it, mostly because we had two people that came occulus first time ever (lol) and they were dying on astral shift. But finally they got what its all about and they got void achievement on first visit in occulus... so it cannot be hard.. am i right?

did this tonight on the 4th attempt
2 ruby's and 3 emerald - but what i told our paladin healer to do was to dismount as soon as i engaged the boss - he then proceeded to heal the drakes as well as the other 2 emerald drakes.
It took us 8 minutes to kill him but was worth it - i highly suggest ur healer healing drakes as our other 3 attempts we failed on using 5 drakes

After the changes in 3.0.8, some people are claiming that it is impossible to get 2 of the ___ Void achievements in 1 run. As of today, it is still possible. I got Amber Void and Emerald Void in the same run with the following strategy:
4 members of our group rode Ruby drakes, the 5th was our healer (resto shaman, ulduar geared) stood on the platform below us and just helped heal the drakes. We were very disorganized, and had no real "plan." Basically, I pulled the boss, and we just spammed the Scorch ability on him, if I got low on health, I would call out somebody's name, and they would begin to Martyr spam, if they got low on health, they would call out the next person's name, so that the healer would have a chance to heal up each drake while somebody else was tanking it. While you were the one tanking, you do Evasive Maneuvers whenever possible (didn't really pay attention to whether or not he was enraged).
At one point during the fight, my drake died because the shaman ran out of mana, so I fell onto the platform, helped heal, and innervated the resto shaman (I am a boomkin druid).
Using this strategy, we easily did it in 1 attempt. Everybody on my server hates running H-Oculus because they claim it is hard, this was my first time in the instance, the shaman's first time in the instance, and 1 of the DPS's first time in the instance, and we 1shot through everything including the last boss with these 2 achievements.
It really helps if multiple people in your party have healing spells (we had resto shaman, boomkin druid, shadow priest), so that if their drake dies, they can fall down and help heal.
HEALER ON THE PLATFORM AND NOT ON A DRAKE IS A GREAT STRATEGY. EASIER THAN HEALING ON A GREEN DRAKE.

Hi there,
I got this achievement + Emerald void today. What we did was have a healer on the central platform and 4 red drakes. I tanked with Martyr always up and evasive maneuvers when his berserk was up. We were so bad at it that I died when phase 2 begun. I released, came back and resummoned my drake. At that time there was only a living drake left, I flew up to Eregos, tagged him, and started kiting under evasive maneuvers while the others came back on foot. Died a second time but got the achievement anyway.
So 4 drakes + healer is a good idea and if you die, release and come back on foot. Be wary to instantly summon your drake back, otherwise you'll get in combat before you can summon it.
Free achievement really.

We done 5 Red Drakes in pug only 1 try.
(yep, i cant believe now!)
Before aggro boss,
our priest cast Stamina buff on all 4 drakes(+17k health per drake),
and Powerword Shield and Renewed Hope( -3 % damage taken).
then he mount, and charge into boss.
while in fighting, we do switch tanking.

Did it with 2 reds, 2 greens, 1 healer, the greens simply dot and #2 as soon as its up, and the reds use evasion martyr as needed (read coments above). The fight is kinda long but with current gear standards its not complex.

We did this earlier with three red and two green as suggested and it worked brilliantly. We were aiming to get the Make it Count as well, but sadly our group shamen decided to dismount before we started combat so we downed Eregos with two red and two green with about 20 seconds over. It worked so well that from now on thats the group set up we will aim for every time.
Evasion, Martyr and the very imba healing from the drakes made it the least stressful even with two pugs thrown into the group.

Just one shot it with 5 Emeralds so all these comments claiming its impossible are wrong just have to use a different tactic. Warning now this is hard so all 5 party members need to be quick.
Before the tactic was to kite him around so the drakes couldn't hit you, which was fixed so they could hit from anywhere. The new tactic, fce him head on. Basically all 5 of were right in front of him. Each player needs to make sure they keep 3 stacks on him at all times. When the whelps start spawning you all need to start clicking on them and start stacking dots on them. You should be able to maintain dots on 1 or 2 drakes whilst keeping a full stack on the boss at all times. Yes another wave of drakes is going to spawn before you can kill the the previous. When we did it there was drakes absolutely everywhere. The idea is though that with so many dots up you can actually outheal all the dmg being spread around. Occasionaly you might need to throw a heal on the person who has agro on the boss and they will be taking a fair amount more dmg. When the phase shift comes fly aswell as normal but keep firing dots at drakes as you do so, this is your chance to kill off some of the drakes so as not to get to many. we 1 shot so i can't be sure but i would imagine if to many spawn you will get nuked.
Its simply an endurance fight If you're quick with clicking between drakes stacking up the dots and making sure you refresh dots on the boss in time its seriously not hard.

I will echo the 3 Ruby and 2 Emerald tactic. It worked perfectly for our PUG. As Ruby, always keep Martyr off cooldown, spam ability 1 and use ability 2 whenever you can. Also make sure you stay together in the planar phase. It's long, took us over 3.5 minutes but it's worth it. Good luck :)

Pulled this off with five reds last night. Unbelievably easy.
We lost one drake early on (player landed on the ring, so no deaths), then I started tanking. I had evasion up almost 3/4ths of the fight. Ended with half health (64k from 128k).
I think this route's easier than anything now, with the reds having chain lightning in essense. The drakes died as soon as they spawned.

I did this one quite some time ago, with 4 Green's 1 Red, obviously greens all healing the red,
Using your self damaging attack on your green drake to kill whelp adds, since the stacked buff heals you for enough and the red drake wont take to much of a spanking. the dps will be slightly higher aswell..
I am going to attempt this one again tonight for my last void.
Also, just a Tip
make sure the people that are on the emerald drakes (green) are casters in any way. since the healing will decrease if your a melee dps (warrior, feral druid, paladin, dk, rogue, enha shammy), Also ranged dps Hunter doesnt do a great job at healing.
So get a few mages locks whatever on those emerald drakes

I just did this earlier. we had 2 red, 2 green. had DK, Lock on reds, me (ret pally) on green (for experienced drake rider achiev.) and tree heals on green
we kicked the tank who took a ruby, then cursed everyone out. Easy fight, tbh. All abilities used, though i used Martyr sparingly, so as to not inconvenience the healer too much.
No blue drake drop though :(

Yes that was a very good way to do it, that's how I did it.
Here is a guide I wrote with consolidated tips, info, and a video on how to do it. Best thing about this is that if you use all ruby drakes you get amber and emerald void at once.

Don't bother reading 13 years old comments.
Things you need to know:
- Time stop has DR, so you cant do 5 amber drakes
- Infinite kiting strategy is also fixed
- Drakes scale with ilvl, so 3.3,5 strategies might not work because of low ilvl
How we did all 3 void achievements in 2 runs:
Emerald void
+
Amber void
5 ruby drakes strat:
- You generate dodge charge for
Evasive Maneuvers
after being hit by a spell
- Spam (1)
Searing Wrath
- Use (2)
Evasive Maneuvers
, when on low health or tanking the boss

, when you have high health or whoever is tanking the boss is on low health and/or running out of dodge charges

- If adds spawned, one of amber drakes should use (2)
