LOVED reading the GameFront review... Brings back memories of when I started playing this game in Vanilla. Little did I know that an impulse buy of the game that was related to Warcraft 2/3, which I'd played before, would hook me so thoroughly. I'm certainly not forgetting the many QoL changes that have since been added, nor am I naive enough to say "Vanilla servers are better than the current game!". Sorry to say, but that's wishful thinking. As charming as the world back then was, it was equal parts frustrating and aggravating with regards to some aspects. That being said, the charm of discovering the incredible world that Blizzard had created was what made me fall in love with this amazing game. Thanks for the trip down nostalgia lane! So much fun.
ah greenfireone of the most fun and frustrating experience ever. i should go have a look at the mage tower stuff
I did achieve the Green Fire when it was still current content. The thing I remember most about it was how difficult it was, and how it exposed me to a lot my Warlock's toolkit that I hadn't every really given much thought to before. It was certainly a challenge, and is the only reason that character of mine is the only one who doesn't wear The Insane title. My Warlock will always be "of the Black Harvest."
I didn't pick up green fire until 5.4 when my warlock was somewhat decently geared, and I think I'd gotten the legendary cloak on him as well by then. That helped tremendously, I think I downed Kanrethad in one go. Still proud of getting the title anyway, and it's why I still play him as destro pretty much all the time. I love that green fire.
I didn't know about the green fire thing until 6.0, no idea how I missed in MoP otherwise I definitely would have done it. That being said, in all the years that I've done Hallow's End, I've only seen the reins drop a handful of times, and every year I try again.
I found that green fire thing so fascinating, I leveled my banking alt warlock for this (who was Lv10 or something at the time). I got her some lfr gear and learned to play destruction, which was a ton of fun in MoP. Did the green fire questline and even went on to do challenge modes on that warlock alt. She will never be my main, but she will always be special and "of the Black Harvest" for me. :)
Ah, I remember the Green Fire questchain. It was a lot of fun and very challenging.Although I no longer main my warlock, I will always wear that title with pride.
Warlock Green Fire quest took me 6 months to get and I thank the posts from other locks on youtube, as their vids helped me... :)
I got The Horseman's Reins years ago, way back when mounts were per character and it's one of the reasons I was so very happy when mounts became account-wide! Apparently it's only been attained by 38% of profiles on Wowhead, so I guess it's still a rather rare drop! When Hallow's End swings round each year I use the mount and always get a few whispers either asking where the mount came from or telling me how lucky I must be! So good luck to everyone farming the mount and, hopefully, now that more characters can participate in the event bosses there will be more players getting the mount!
