An issue I have with this is that it only takes the top 100 rankings, most of which are using heavy cheese tactics to get the best parses, and in the case of tanks,is absolutely not reliable (for example,it's easy to see that the blood DK recommendations are straight up ridiculously off in any situations other than extreme DPS padding and not much actual tanking). But I don't think it's really possible to get it more right with the way this works sadly,so I appreciate the effort
Not sure how useful this really can be for average Joe and Jenny. Depends what gear you got and your stats weights, ilvl, player skills, these builds and trinket choices can be vary. I think in Legion its the first time in the history of WoW when any cookie cutter build / gear list is almost impossible to achieve unless you get super lucky with every BiS item dropped at highest ilvl titanforge.I have personally mucked around with different trinkets and the outcome usually is based on my gear and stats. Sometimes a 910 stats stick is better than 925 on use / proc trinket, sometimes its not.Eg. for Hunters, Convergence of Fates + Call of the Wild combo can be really good, even if trinket is not very high ilvl. Using either one of those alone can be a downgrade unless bracers is pretty much your only option to wear a legendary or two.
Is it endemic, on sites where advice is offered, that there will be those that are so readily swayed into cult-like following by one particular sites' advice, to the extent the same people will visit anywhere that 'tries' to offer a similar advice vehicle to look it over & derail it (in its' infancy, in this case) to make sure there is no competition...?I'm all for offering opinion on a sites' features, but those who seem to systematically visit a site to be deconstructive should find themselves the subject(s) of removal from the site in question. As was said before; posting comments that say 'this is wrong' without any valid reasoning is pointless & such comments should be earmarked for deletion... with repeat offenders being flagged for limitation of their site privileges.Just a thought & probably highly impractical to police... but a thought, nonetheless.
This is awesome! I noticed it yesterday playing around with the calculator, definitely a welcome upgrade to the tool.
Unrelated question: Can someone explain to me the different text colors for some people's comments? I figure blue text is for wowhead staff, but what is the tan text for?
This is a good idea, but it is a bit poorly implemented. This post mentions that the build data is collected from the top 100 Mythic parses on warcraftlogs, but that is not mentioned -anywhere- on the actual talent calculator site. That's a big problem. Many mythic raid encounters have vastly different mechanics than their normal/heroic counterparts, and thus require vastly different builds. For example, the Feral druid calculator states that players should use Predator instead of Blood Scent in the first tier for Demonic Inquisition. That build ONLY works for Mythic because of the extra adds. Using that for normal or heroic is a DPS loss. A new player or one who is not savvy enough to check various sources will be none the wiser and their gameplay will suffer as a result. Either you will need to implement some sort of toggle feature to differentiate between normal/heroic and mythic difficulties, or you need to put a disclaimer on the talent calculator page specifying that the build suggestions are ONLY optimal for mythic difficulty. However, I will state that the fact the build suggestions are pulled from a data collection (as opposed to being chosen by a single "expert" of the class/spec) is refreshing because the information is purely objective. It's good to have "expert" opinions for reference, but it's also nice to have a clear, broader picture of the collective.
Great tool, guys. Much appreciated! Keep up the good work.
Awesome idea, I like it! As aforementioned though, a lot of mechanics get added in Mythic difficulty making it a different beast. A suggestion for more widely applicable talent choices might be to pull data from heroic parses instead, and add a disclaimer saying it may not be applicable to Mythic (as the average user afaik will be doing Normal or Heroic content).
I am not sure how useful this is if it contains data about LFR and normal kills. Only mythic and heroic (and maybe not even hc) can give an accurate view of which trinkets and talents are good, in the rest of the difficulties nothing happends at all so its normal for people to use the highest throughput legendaries and talents. Don't you think it's odd that Velen's Future Sight is the most used trinket by far for all bosses? I actually go for Prydaz and X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictuswhen I'm progressing, the trinket is good for m+ ...
