Guys, can't we compromise here?Add a setting where you can choose...
It surprised me to see the new layout up. So far I'm liking it, including the bigger text. /taps glasses
no longer will load anything on my phone and also when i try to login it now says its not a trusted site
please fix as to why it will no longer work on my phone? i use wowhead all the time but only on my phone.
It's interesting that the new layout came so fast. Uhhhh...just some thoughts so far, mostly for forum layout and stuff. The colors seem a little TOO well blended and it's hard to differentiate individual posts within threads. This also applies to individual threads on the board as well. Just adding some (more definitive) lines or something to separate sections of the forum appropriately would make it a bit easier on the eyes.^ Like this, except maybe a little more noticeable.
Support for low resolutions has been improved and tablet/mobile front page issues have been fixed.
As far as layout changes this go, this is pretty good. At least most things are still in the same place. The changes are mostly cosmetic and I'm okay with that. The font is still a sticking point for me but I'll get used to it.As for everything looking bigger and more spaced out - you can thank phones and tablets for that. It's trendy these days to cater mostly for touch/mobile/tablet users at the expense of desktop. It's not like CSS can help with that... oh, wait.Sarcasm aside, this isn't too bad. I'm sure it will be tweaked along the way but I'm glad they kept most things in the same place. Thanks for that.
I like it. I always felt like I had to search around too much but the new intro page instantly eliminated a lot of that. It's all about presentation. Good work, guys!
It's so... clean! And simple! Maybe too simple-looking? It'll take a while to get used to, and as always, we'll miss the old one, but after a while, the sting will be gone and we're not even going to remember how the old one looked like. All in all, great work, peeps! It does look modern and stuff. :)Edit: But do the buttons really need to be so big and flashy, like the reply-buttons in the database comment sections etc.?
Makes me want to install Bartender on Wowhead so I can reduce the padding and border sizes.Specific complaints:-Tables are much too large now. Looking at the abilities tab for any battle pet shows how hard it is to scan across an ability. There are TEN INCHES on my monitor between the ability name and its accuracy, and this is on a laptop. That's ridiculous. Tables are not graphics designed to fill white-space, they're supposed to make information easier to assess and digest at a glance.- Tabs are too small. For some reason, the tabs on database pages are the only things you seem to have made smaller. The upvote button on a comment is bigger than the comments tab you have to click to see it. The tabs are also too faded and low-contrast, making them hard to scan and read.- Upvote/Downvote buttons are so large and colourful that it makes every comment look like it's Christmas-themed.- Font size. Drop it down to 10pt, please.
Wow, you guys rolled out those width corrections for lower-resolutions displays quite quickly! I guess I can give the new layout a legitimate fighting chance now. That scrollbar just killed it at 1024x1280. Thanks for the excellent response time on that, guys. :)
I really like the design, looks much bigger and inviting. Will probably never happen but I would really like a bright background (blue/beige/whatever) instead of the dark black/grey.
It will take a while to get used to it, but I like it.Well done guys ;)
All I can say is WOW Wowhead! Aweome dudes...and dudettes! I LOVE it!
I really do not like the new design. I loved the Google-like simplicity of the old design; I think it was more friendly towards the user, most of who come here heading straight for very specific information. Having the front page simply be a search field and a drop-down menu of categories showed a perfect understanding of what the user needed.I don't have any screenshots of the old site so the nearest I can come is the only other site I use on the network, Torhead:http://i.imgur.com/G7rGiJ1.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/stHoBhx.pngI'm not sure if the design change is based on what the users want, or a direction that the Wowhead staff wants to move the site towards, but if it's the latter I hope that we're given the option to change back to the old/classic look as a user setting. Or maybe we can get a direct link to a search/drop-down page, like "www.cuckhead.com/tbc/search" or something.
Is there any way we could get an option in the settings to use the old version? The new one looks bland and disorganized. Don't like it.
You guys must be crazy! It's awesome IMO!
I do like the front page, and how comments are now laid out on item pages, etc. New profiler is pretty nice in general too (nice to see my character actually looking like my character now). However I do not like the display of the drop tables and some other things. It seems really messy compared to previously. Either the lack of contrast between the rows/columns (due to very light lines and having same color as the rest of the page), or having to do with having no padding on the sides between the tables and main container. There's also an issue of no padding in the articles tab. Text is up on the edges of the main container. Ex: https://www.cuckhead.com/tbc/npc=15932#articleLastly, on the search pages where you can add filters, it seems like the area to set up filters takes up way more space than it used to. Not sure if the text is huge, or the input boxes, but it's a bit excessive.
