Believe it or not, the boost communities will find a workaround so the chat will remain spammed same as previously.
For the uninitiated, why is this change good? I have no idea why boosting, as RMT is already not allowed, would be bad. Is it just because of spam in-game? I don't think I play at a level affected by this so I have no insight into the problem with boosting. Is it because of WoW Tokens?
I'm glad that Blizzard adresses the boosting stuff. At this point I'm not sure if I want to play with the Alliance. :D
I see this as a way to address the massive amount of boosting scams that occur. Majority of level 1s advertising in chat are complete scams. I would think changing level requirements on trade chat would come first but would not be ideal to those lower levels who use it for legitimate purposes.
The main issue was the out of control spread advertising in chats and, specially, in LFG. It also created a split between veteran players and learning players to some extent, because if you can do a timed +17 you can most likely sell timed +15's to fill the vault, which means they never played together to share knowledge.Boosting was also specifically bad for PVP environment, as high rating/full BiS players would drop rate just to be able to boost others. This meant a lot of fights in which people just gave up and others which were full one-sided stomps. On the other hand, wow forces players to do content they don't like, and boosting was a community answer to that.i.e: If you don't like PVP, but felt like you needed something from there to improve your character, you could sell Mythic+ boosts and buy PVP boosts. This way you spent more time in content you enjoy and less in content you don'tThat's why boosting became so prolific, game design was pushing people in that direction. The market just reacted to the game.
pog
Sylvanas and Dawn have already started back up xD
Look, if orcs and humans are now all into wellness and bonding with each other over their favourite Goop products, can we at least get cross-faction mail?
they will not hence the new clarifcation that blizzard put out that unless you are the person actively participating in the run it is against tos so no more advertising on a lvl 1 or 10
This is 2022. Nobody uses Trade Chat legitimately.
I'm so surprised why blizzard allowed boosting to happening in the first place. If I was blizzard I would never allowed somebody to earn real money from MY game. NEVER. everybody would've been banned instantly forever. The only way for them to do it again would've been to buy the game again and to sub again (I would get more money that way) and ofc I would ban them again instantly. only I can get money from what I created. that's my logic on gold farming / selling. it hurts the company, hurts developers and regular gamers. the same for botting. I would allow them to reach lvl60 then BAN hahahahah.
Boosting rules still seem nebulous as #$%^.A person in the boost needs to be the one doing the advertising - does that mean people on Tarren Mill can advertise for a boost being done primarily by people on Ragnaros as long as the TM player advertising it is also present, if not, what ratio of people is required for it to be kosher? The changes are just fields and fields of grey areas. At the end of the day the spam will return once people figure out what is allowed. Large realms will end up getting boost spam from multiple guilds competing for runs and potentially risk people who want to boost transfering to those realms just because there are more customers than on smaller realms. Any established guilds like Echo / Limit or streamers will also probably be able to sell boosts from buyers who get in contact with them themselves without needing to advertise. It's just going to result in the rich getting richer and small realms being even more of a risk to transfer to - dead realms are a massive issue for anyone playing on them and it'd be nice if they'd either merge more realms or stop making more policies that push people out of them.
This only happened because the communities kept outselling Ybarras guild
Not everyone has a full team, and even if you have, schedules might not be the same. If you have a push group, but it is not push week, there is no point waiting your full team to push low keys as 15 for vault. In the end, as long as there is no specific incentive for people to NOT pug, people should pug more.
That whole “sell a raid” stuff creates a toxic environment. Either you reach a top gear score as fast as possible once new content is released or you are stuck in the pay-zone as no good equipped players are prepared to go on raids for free after a few weeks. It gets particularly bad when the end-of-expansion - mounts are up. If you are not in a big, active guild or you can’t play 24/7 to be in the first wave you can choose between paying all your gold to some greedy rip-off scheme or not participating.
