The last good Diablo game. Damn I miss Blizzard North.
Love that Keith Parkinson art of all the classes facing against Diablo. It captures the spirit and soul of Diablo so well. Also the Paladin looks like a total boss in it.
-Hitting lvl 99 in 1.09 Cows, it was a buddy and I running until 4am after weeks of farming, losing out on so much exp from stupid deaths from 97-99 lol. I will never forget that feeling of accomplishment (I was like 12-13).-Trading for a Cruel Fanged Knife of Quickness. It was incredibly rare, and only limited other options existed, like a Cruel Phase Blade of Quickness, or Cruel Conquest Sword of Quickness, if you got one with 240+ED and 2 OS, it was worth a tooon and uber BIS for a fury druid in PVP.-Befriending a zeal pally who became an incredibly close friend at the time, he had a crew and we would all play together almost every day for months. Just having them around always down to play together was so much fun.-A childhood friend and I used to play D2 all the time as well, he played an Assassin and always wanted a Bartuc, but didn't have any luck, and I got really into the game, so through some trades I was able to scoop one and surprised him with it one day, such genuine happiness!-Completing Act 1, 2, and 5 really stood out to me. Going to Harrogath and going through the quest line to fight the ancients and go and ultimately confront Baal felt so epic!-Trade scams definitely stood out too, the Anni drop and run around a wall in ACT 1, ppl would equip +run speed gear and beat you to getting either item and grab both and log out lol. It was definitely the wild west back then.-I remember dropping a Shaftstop or something similar and a Necro casted Iron Golem on it, hahaha. Imagine that being in Diablo 4.-I remember someone telling me to fill my inventory with potions and then killed me outside town and told me to die again and grab my body or something to that extent, it caused my inventory to be full of potions and when I died then next time, all my gear couldn't fit my inventory or be equipped and popped onto the ground and the guy stole all of my stuff, I can't believe I didn't quit after that lol.-I remember another Anni or trade scam was using the wall between Act 1 town (or any Act if the setup was similar), a player would have their mercenary decked out, and you would have yourself in town, but your guard on the other side of the fence with the person you're trading. You both drop your items and begin the trade, the player goes hostile and their mercenary kills you
I started from LoD - was too young to play classic. I remember that I was so afraid of fighing Diablo in act4 that I asked my older brother to do it : D
Absolutely loved Diablo 2 to bits. Was fun to experiment builds outside of the norm, like the Crying Barb or the Enchant bow Sorceress. The manual was a fantastic read while on the toilet, having stories in it as well as detailing all the abilities as well as lore and artwork.Same with Starcraft having done the same thing detailing all units as well as plenty of lore and art.Games just don't do that anymore. :(
