Dungeon running was so important in Classic and TBC (even more so with all the rep grinds and attunements) that unchaining people from trade chat and letting them quest while looking for group without taking away from the social and exploration aspects of grouping (still need to physically travel there, still only looking within your server) makes perfect sense.
Pretty mixed feelings about this. While it would naturally make finding groups a lot easier, it also removes a large chunk of the "forced" socializing from the game. The fact that when you look for a party in classic you need to go into a global chat makes it so that people end up shift-clicking your name, and getting a glimpse of who you are, learning what guild you are in and what content you play.I know the paladin who farmed BRD hundreds of times for his Ironfoe because he was in LFG chat every day. I know the #$%^&*bag hunter who reserved his T2 helmet and put up bag and head for gbid. I know names of people who were looking for at SM run three weeks ago when they show up in my MC pug. That is a large part of how the "I know the people on this server" feeling comes from and taking that away would imho be a bigger loss than the gain from being to form easier pugs could ever be.But maybe that's just me and forming that underbog pug slightly easier is worth it in the end. It's not a massive deal and perhaps history repeats itself and people end up ignoring it anyway. Who knows.
The more I hear, the more hyped I get. For me, OG classic was kinda... meh. But this... being able to boost my rogue and skip the BS, getting to go straight into outland, no more spell batching/leeway so I don't have vanish broken by auto attacks, a more convenient pre-legion group finder. I'm so happy. ^.^
An idea I had for retail was that the teleport would bring you to the closest FP, not to inside the dungeon. You still have to "run in together", but it just skips the part where you can't quest in Desolace because you wanna run SM.
incoming "no changes" returds
ppl were asking for classic cause it was awesome, you gave them classic and now you push to tbc. dont you think we will see the same movie again? i didnt see anyone asking for tbc but vanilla.
I don't know anyone who used the group finder in tbc. I doubt a cosmetic update is gonna change this but whatever
Seems like a nice QoL thing.
Amazing how many people don't read. Additionally comes that I have the feeling that 90% of the people that cry now havn't played TBC and don't know that this feature was allready in there or have forgotten that it was in the game. I start to get why retail is how it is
This is a good change. Imagine a system like the retail group finder- it doesn’t automatically match make you or dump you into a dungeon, but it lets you find people looking for the same content you are. It’s far less hectic than /4 Lookingforgroup, where messages can easily get lost. This isn’t about changing how the game worked, but making it look better, and removing some of the inconvenience of finding groups.
And they ruined it already. Once they start introducing ''small quality of life changes'' that will ''harm nobody'' the experience and magic are already gone. First the mount at level 30 and not 40 and now this. It is clear that they succumbed to the pressure of the players whose constant crying and asking for ''improvements'' pushed retail to its current pitifull state. Once you admit to one compromise it is all damaged. They simply could not resist and had to do something stupid. Ah well, that means that future The Wrath of the Lich King servers will be ''Some Change''-damaged even further.
Don't see a point. Original worked just fine and it'd be cool for new players to see how the modern LFG tool started.
