All the salty warriors on here because your class is now pretty much dead in the water, with a 25 man raid only wanting one. It's a 'DPS Ranking' not 'How useful is a class ranking' - Anyone that played BC knows warrior and feral DPS will always be at the bottom of the charts.. with Ret and Boomy just above. The list looks pretty accurate to me, only thing I would do it swap Enh and Ele Shaman over.
To whomever is defending this saying the guide is all about DPS and not about utility, please read the actual content before jumping to conclusions : "based on the criteria of throughput, utility and defensive value". The worst thing is that based purely on DPS, the list is kinda wrong, and based on a mix of DPS, survivability and utility the list is also mostly wrong.
generally how tier lists play out: "all specs have at least some value and can be viable"How the community perceives tier lists: "S Tier: hunter, warlockF tier: literally everything else"
Tier-lists will change depending on gear, scaling and especially BY PLAYER.So, bring what you like, play what you like. Just play with decent people. Also, bring a shadow priest or your healer(s) will riot.
cant wait for maldinggold to react
It is odd that Seal Twisting isn't mentioned on the Ret Paladin comment section. A player who can master seal twisting will be doing much more dps, especially on Gruul and Mag.
This is where I struggle to enjoy classic. I could've sworn we all wanted to go back to simpler times but instead the majority of the community see's this as a task that is meant to be completed to the utmost highest standard. I'm sick of this expectation we've imposed on ourselves to be perfect down to the decimal point. These guides are toxic. It makes sense in retail as we are constantly stepping into unfamiliar territory where crunching the numbers is the best approach to understanding the mechanics. With classic, all of that has already been done. What we're left with is a bunch of players using that information to enforce a very high level of gameplay.Classic had this problem and TBC will too. Unless you want to play like a meta pogchamp filled to the brim with stimulants, your only option is to wait for the content to be trivialized and siphon extra loot off of these guilds or solo play/dungeon crawl. I'm calling it now - the majority of players will fit into the S and A tiers. I've already seen my entire circle of friends ditch their level 60 characters in favor of levelling locks and hunters. Some got on to make paladins only to realize that their time spent on the game will be utter hell if they actually went through with that unless they tank. It's that or you are not allowed to play with the "cool kids."I really didn't want this to become a competition to see who has the bigger peen in a game so old that the children playing it are now adults with their own children. At this rate, what is it that this games community is trying to prove? That the new meta content is whoever manages to get the first shot off? This will be a repeat of classic and I fully expect TBC to further exasperate this horribly toxic and radical approach to min/maxxing gameplay. It doesn't work when every single player in the game think they're the hottest thing since Ragnaros.
How does one even arrive at placing shadow priest on B tier?..
I like how this list is SO bad, and how people assume that any person who don't like the list it's just an angry warrior, like if that people weren't just rerolling to warlock/hunter.You need to be a total failure to be a grudge against a specific class in a 16 years old game lol.
Shadow Priests are mana batteries and Shaman have excellent totems that help with raids. Shadow Priest also provides very helpful CC when it comes to the plethora of Undead in Karazhan. While this list may partly be based on "personal DPS" the class writers clearly stated the benefits that these classes bring in supporting their groups. These two classes are significantly more powerful than they are being credited.
Didn't list smite priest. List sucks.
I don't like to be negative with stuff like this (there is more than enough negativity going around in the community) but Wowhead could gain in acquiring more well-researched and constructive writers. This article is extremely misleading, and will spread a lot of false conceptions within the community that is not on the top end of pushing things (so 90+%). This is simply parrotting TBC private server meta which has very little to do with TBC Classic. I.e., those servers were designed around very tightly tuned boss progression. It also gives the false impression that the distance (and viability) between a Warlock and Rogue's dps equates that of the difference between a Warrior and Warlock in Classic. To be constructive, I would suggest you split the tier list into a "boss progression" list and an "overall raid" list. In the former, high single target and ranged classes are S tier (e.g. Hunter), while in the latter, a decent single target and high cleave class that can offtank on trash is also S tier (e.g. Warrior). This ranking makes some sense for say Magtheridon or Gruul "progression", and very little sense in the big picture.
Smite Priest should be up there in S or A for tier 4 and 5.
Hehe seems that there is a lot of warriors in here that have a hard time realising that their class aint top dps anymore, but instead complains of "how much harm" a list like this is doing to the gameWell, you didn't complain when you where top tier and now its just time to face the fact that you will be choosen if "there is no one else"...
WoW logs disagrees. Probably the biggest exception, is no mention of arcane when they hold the highest dps rankings for almost every fight in Karazhan aside from 2 bosses let alone amongst mages .... but fire is the best? And that is with the majority of the mage population not even playing arcane. Even when stepping up to 25 man gruul and Mags they are just behind Locks/Hunters and top spec for Mage over all. Granted this was posted in May so a lot has unfolded in 3 months ..... maybe take it down or update it though. :)
