Any of the Blackrock Orcs or Worgs in Burning Steppes can drop up to 5-10 each. Easy.

Attacked the Worgs and got 50 easy. 1st one gave 10! Next ones gave 5 and 3 each. Near the end (in SE corner beside where the bots are killing Dragonspawns) I killed one and it dropped a Six Demon Bag! I couldn't believe it!!

Not sure why, but the drop rate for me has been absolutely abysmal. I must have killed around 12 before my first drop of 8 medallions.

My wife and I just did this quest and tried the worgs in the SE near the dragonkin. Every once in a GREAT while we got a couple, but got 50 each in just a few minutes on the orcs near the Pillar of Ash area.

The Pillar of Ash is indeed the best place with the smallest pulls to grind the orcs out.

I solo it on lvl 51... Hunter... it whas easy i just kill these worgs.
They drop alot of qeust items in 1 time.
But sometimes i couldnt find the worgs.

Just did this as a Level 50 feral druid, I had a terrible drop rate for this quest!
Was killing all the orcs in sight at the pillar of ash (Apart from the level 57's) and it took over 3 hours for me to complete this quest, I had the highest drop rates from the Blackrock warlocks and Blackrock Sorcerer's, and for me the worgs didnt drop any medalions in 10 kills
If at a lower level i would advise getting a friend to help, or beggin this when you have a lot of free time

I just finished this quest (3 Dec 2007) and for me the only consistent drops came from those mobs inside of the pillboxes scattered around the area near Gor'tesh (40, 55)

Completed this quest January 5, 2008 in about 3 minutes. I was at (42,36) killing the Blackrock Sorcerors, Warlocks, and Slayers. 5-10 medallions per kill, every mob dropped them.

I had to clear the orcs in front of the Pillar of Flame about twice before I got 50 medallions. Every 2-3 orcs dropped around 6-7. The warlocks hurt, and the slayers use Hamstring, so try not to over-pull, chances are you won't be able to get away.

The Blackrock Soldiers seem to have the best drop rate; almost 100%, but not quite... :P

Agreed - pillar of ash is the place.

My drop rate was about 1 in 5 would drop (but in bursts). I would get 20 medallions from 4 kills, then none for about 10-12, then back to another 20 or so. Cleared pillar of ash 3 times to get the total.

Can get them from any humanoid kill there or from the worgs...

Don't be "scared" that you need 50 of these.

The mobs can drop up to 10 some times, very quick quest to do!

Easy to confuse as he wanted ogres first... but yeah these guys are west along the road and are called Blackrock ___ - some are lvl 54, some 55, etc. Most of the ones I killed were 'linked' so that I was usually fighting at least 2 of them at a time.

And yes they drop quite a few at a time - matter of fact I ended up with 7 extra. :P

As from my experience, the caster mobs drops these, and the best place to farm them is inside Altar of Storms with those 5 or 6 Blackrock Warlocks. They are all together in a circle but not linked so you should be able to kill them easy.

I found the Blackrock Slayers & Soldiers were dropping 5-10 each kill consistently! In the Pillars of Ash (44,55). I was getting nothing from the worgs, tho.

They drop off the Blackrock Orcs and the Worgs there...its kindof random so you won't always get the drops, but they WILL drop be patient and harness the power of EXP! while you kill em

Got all of mine from worgs (lower level, easier to farm). The drop rate is not great -- tonight after the 1.9.3 patch I thought for a bit that they'd changed it and worgs no longer dropped them, because I killed 6 or 7 with no drops at all. But then they started again and I got the rest of mine.

I love this guy. He's completely and totally insane. Love him.

These do drop more from the guys in the west but I also got 18 from random dragon spawns and other random beasts around BS.

Guess it must be a bug cause ive been killing these guys for over an hour now and still no drops, soldier, slayer vorgs etc etc...
Tried to abandon the quest but still no luck.

This quest is not as fast as some people say it is. The drop rate seems to be considerably low, but it may be where you are though.

I got all 50 of the Medallions from the Various Worgs in the Burning Steppes. It takes about 20 of em to get 50. Not too shabby if you ask me. (54 warrior)

Just finished this quest had to kill 56 to get the 50 needed. Ended up with 90 Dark iron scraps as well as two blues. *58 Shadow Priest*

Easy solo as a 52 BM hunter (and I'm sure it's possible as low as 50 as a BM hunter).

There's a cluster of camps around 50,53 that's perfect for the quest. It has plenty of Orcs with a decent drop-rate.

For those of you without coords: Follow the road west. Along the road, around halfway through the zone, you'll see a statue of an armored Orc holding out his sword to your left. Turn left there and you should be in the middle of the cluster of Orc camps.

Ember worgs drop the medallion also and they are right outside of Morgan's Vigil. 83,59

Just completed, worgs dropped about 20 of em. Very easy to complete and also ended up with 8 extras. Great XP too. 5100 for a quest that may have taken 20 minutes to complete.

I did this quest with my level 52 hunter. I got some of the medallions from an Blackrock Ogre. The rest i got from Ember Worgs. The level 51/52 wolfs that walk around in the burning steppes. They are easy to kill and drop about 4 to 12 medallions. Not everytime, but the drop rate isn't that bad. Because of the bad respawn of these creatures, it took me a little while.

This quest is taking me forever. The drop rate for me is very very low but when they do drop you get about 9 at a time. I guess the drop rate varies from player to player. All the ones I have gotten are around the The Pillar of Ash.

go to 49,55. Pillar of Ash. finished the quest in 15mins time. From killing the Blackrock socerer, soldier, slayer.

You can get these off the dogs that run around. I find a bunch of these dogs near the dragon spawns. Easy kills. Average drop is between 4-9 on each dog.

Mine stopped dropping after 4.. Nothing.. I've been at it for 1 hour now.. nothing.. Instead of making things "Easier" couldn't they just have increased the droprates?

Easy quest to solo. Bit of advice for lower levels: attack worgs, and soldiers. They tend to be on the lower level and easiest to kill.

Interesting. I've killed around 30 in this spot and not a single drop. So much for finishing up this quest before outlands.

I never got any off worgs, and only every third or fourth orc would drop them, but when they did drop, it was in groups of 3 - 10! I probably killed about 20-25 orcs total to get what I need (actually got 6 more than I needed, they stack up to 50).
All Burning Steppes orcs seem to have a chance to drop the medallions and the number is apparently random.

i found this quest very easy, despite 50 being a daunting number :P
i just went to the pillar of ash, went up the tower there, and came back down (clearing it of course) and by the time i was out, i had all i needed

CORDS: I farmed mine around (41, 34).
Also, (50, 55) had some Blackrock orcs.

DROP RATE: I seemed to get medalions to drop 1 out of 4 times or so. If an orc dropped medalians, I would get anywhere from 3 to 9 medalians from him.

They drop off the mobs at Pillar of Ash, and also any of the worgs. It'll be faster just to go to the Pillar of Ash as there are both orcs and worgs that drop Medallions. (49, 55) if you need Coords. The worgs are usually in the huts/stables.

In my experience, the worgs dropped them more.

Took me around 20 kills.

Don't let the big number scare you off. Blackrock orcs, found to the SW of Dreadmaul Rock, drop these about one in three times, and in quantity (3-9 per drop for me). Watch out for adds and this one goes quickly.

I killed some ember worgs while me and a group were working on the elite dragons. The Worgs dropped them, first I think I got 11 out of one, then 6 from one. I didnt finish this quest yet because I like the description of it. It cracks me up everytime I read it.

Soloed as a lvl 54 beast mastery hunter. For you who doesnt use cordaddons, check in the western and the middle parts of the "Pillar of ash"-area, good droprate.

I just did this quest killing the ember worgs on the eastern side of zone. Whatever problem you guys had getting suck at 25 seems to be fixed. I didn't kill any orcs for it, though.

These posts are total bs, i had to clear a tower about 9 times before i had them all, the drop rate sucks who cares how many you get it still sucks - they seem to fall best off the casters tho

I think like most people, when you first get this quest, you put it off, thinking, OMG, I have to get 50 of these damn things...as your mind wonders to all those prior quests with lousy drop rates, killing 60 creatures to get 8 measly items...well, this quest is not like those.

As other have said, go to the Pillar of Ash, which if you're coming from the east, starts at 56,53 (near the road).

Why this quest is not like other quests is because the medallions do NOT drop 1 at a time, they drop in packs of 3-8. So in reality, this was one of the shortest "drop" quests I have been on. When I did the quest, the casters had the most frequent drops (i.e. warlocks and sorcerers). But the other orcs dropped some as well, just not as often, the worgs did not drop any. The nice thing is, as you probably already know by now, casters are relatively soft targets, so the grinding is pretty easy and these targets are spread out enough you rarely have to fight more than 1 at a time (although I had 2 fights where a 2nd enemy showed up at the end).

Rather than kill lots of Orcs (unless you really want to), kill the Ember Worgs that roam just outside Morgan's Vigil. These actually drop up to 10 Blackrock Medallions at a time!

Just killed Worgs around the base where you get the quest. Do it togheter with the dragon kill quest. Had enough marks when the dragon kill quest was done.
Marks drop in pacs not one at a time.

I found higher dropd from Worgs and the casters. I did not get any from any of the other orcs. But someone below was right; just pick a tower, any tower, and clear it from top to bottom, you should get all the medallions. If not there are a few stray casters around. Easily done in maybe ten minutes.

Quest was bugged for me. Got the first 25 no problem, after which they stopped dropping completely.

In Classic the drop rate either sucks or I had very bad rng. 12 kills before my first drop. If it seems like the quest is broken, just keep killing. You'll get a drop eventually.

The drop rate is seriously messed up in classic. I was about to give up on it. I killed about a dozen orcs in and around blackrock stronghold. The about a dozen more around the ash heap. Also several wargs elsewhere around the zone. Not a single drop. I was just heading back to morgan's vigil and bagged 2 more orcs at the base of the ash heap towere building. One dropped 8 and the other dropped 7.

The time leading up to that wasn't wasted though as I had 2 x Recipe: Mighty Rage Potion drop.

I continued after that but the drop rate remained like that until I finished.

Just accept this and all the other quests in the zone you can and you'll very likely obtain all the badges as you work on them! Considering the mobs drop multiples, it's more like 12-20 kills - not 50.

The mobs in classic sometimes don't drop and and other times will drop a lot. Just persist. I sat on 39/50 for a long time and then had a bit more luck.

I misread the quest. I killed so many ogres. No, it's ORCS. They drop pretty well from the mobs at Pillar of Ash. Random wargs drop them too. I soloed this quest as a lvl 52 Shadow Priest.
