This is the second territory you would want to level your Night Elf. It is also the central hub between Menethil harbor, Teldrassil and Ashenvale. The recommended levels are 8-20 Because the craps on the beach offer an easy and fast level gain.

It's good for gaining Light Leather - lots of stalkers, raptors, bears in the north, lots of spawns makes you skin over and over. Lots of quest. Main city is Auberdine. NO profesion, class trainers, but it's a short flight to Darnassus. I wasn't there with mining skill, but didn't actually see many Vines. But still this place has no instance, that's the bigges minus.

Is there any information lore or otherwise about the Troll-Village between Darkshore and Felwood/Moonglade? It's visible from the flightpath, but that's it... It seems rather large to be just of scenic nature.

Feel free to downrate this, I just found it neat. In Auberdine, if you stand on the end of the docks and look back towards the city while dead and in spirit form, it feels like something straight out of Soul Reaver. The times I've been here sneaking to Bloodmyst on a Horde character, I half expected the docks to flatten out and the lightposts to turn into ordinary straight ones when I resurrected. (It's a shame this game doesn't exactly work that way :P)

I'm going to do a brief summary for the people who are new to the zone.
It is accessible by either a boat or a hippogryph ride from Rut' Theran village, or you can take a boat from Azuemyst Isle or the Wetlands in the Eastern Kingdoms.
It is meant for levels 10 - 20 and is Alliance controlled.
The main city is Auberdine which has all of the regular necessities of any alliance minor city. There is no horde city. This is expected to be the second zone for Night Elves to quest in.
To the east of Auberdine are multiple caves surrounded by Moonkin. To the north and south east are two "sister" ruins, Bashal' Aran, and Ameth' Aran. take note that there is a single quest giver near the south of Ameth'Aran. To the far south, on the east side of the road is the grove of the Ancients, there are some quests there. To the west is a beach which are inhabited by many forms of murloc and crawler crabs. To the far north is the ruins of Mathystra, inhabited by naga, who are believed to be evolved murloc. A bit south of Mathystra is the Cliffspring River, which has a cave in it to the far east, inhabited by naga, and another cave to the south. In between all of the landmarks are multiple groups of beats that can be skinned, including bears and Moonstalkers. There are also many skinnable critters.

This is no longer connected by boat to Wetlands. It was instead replaced on the opening of patch 3.0 to connect directly to Stormwind. There is no longer a boat path being used in Wetlands where the old path used to lead to. I, along with many others, have all waited at the old wetlands landing for well over 30 minutes before deciding that it was gone.
I can understand this in a sense, now Night Elf and Draenei alts/new players can go straight to Stormwind without going through the death runs through Wetlands. It will also give hordies a new entrance point into Stormwind to raid ;p Flanking, anyone?

This place is, according to my experience, WoW's Twilight Zone.
I've fell through the earth several times in all these years, and most of them, after exploring vast land masses without texture and dying, I always end up walking as a ghost in this place, without a body to return to.
This place is spooky.

A cool bit of information lorewise about this zone is the Old God that lies dead here. As far as we know, this was the only Old God killed in the battle between the Titans and the Old Gods. The others were sealed away to be released another day.

Basically, to get to Auberdine from, i.e. Tanaris, you only have to fly to Theramore, take a boat to Menethil, take a fly to Stormwind, and take a boat to Auberdine.

Darkshore is a great place to leveling any character once you have access to this zone. I believe that the leveling here is downright simple and you have a Main City near by for any thing you might need through the process. The quests are simple enough that you can probably do them without even checking this website. The size of the zone does kind of take away from it but once you get used to it the shape makes up for that.
There are also 2 Fishing quests I have done here that I thought you should know about...

I dislike this area. First, it's narrow and stretched. Quests make you pingpong between the town and the edges of this realm. Distances are too great without a mount.
Second, these mobs are nasty. The bears spread diseases and the moonkin hit like they're elite.
If you happen to wake up in this part of the world, get the boat to Bloodmyst Isle. And enjoy leveling.

i had a lag when i was entering the bloodvenom camp, fell down the great clif beside the camp, and died.
unfortunately, i couldnt revive up in the camp, because i slid down the mountainside too far. so only way was entering darkshore, no way back up. in darkshore, there were those waterfalls, only way to get down quick is jumping down the waterfalls.
unfortunately, the water directly behind the first waterfall is only about one feet deep; in the real world the water would be deep under a big waterfall. so i died again.
unfortunately, there is no way up to this lake from darkshire because of some extremely high cliffs and 2 more waterfalls.
unfortunately, the next ghost healer i know is in astranaar.

does anybody know where you can get revived in darkshire, just in case some other players get in the same situation? those waterfalls really seem like a trap that blizzard designed as a really nasty punishment for those who fall down from the bloodvenom-camp.

Has anyone noticed the Troll city that is technically in Darkshore but north of mythstral ruins? If you fly from Moonglade to Auberdine you will see a city were there are just a bunch of trolls level 53-56 folk dancing next to a small lake. What is that? Can you even get into it? Any horde have any idea what I'm talking about?

darkshore is the most annoying, depressing place, the music make you want to cry, the quests are long, repetitive and boring and yet everyone, including humans and gnomes(the furthest people from it) go there. now the only reason i get there is so i can use the boats and hypogryphs, to get to darnassus or astranaar, even then ill ask a mage to port me there

sure darkshore is an annoying zone where the quest are long you have to walk back and forth etc... but sometimes it could be good.
reason:
1. the bears are so fun to kill you get some nifty items from looting and if you sell them you get quite some money maynot be alot but theres tons of bears to kill
2. for all players who like skinning you just hit the jackpot cause theres loads of beasts which you can skin but you have to have 30 - 70 skinning level but once your skill is around that number you could get quite alot of money dpends if your either selling them or leather working it
3.darkshore is almost an all around need items place cause you have fishermen miner's blacksmither's cloth merchants leather merchants armour weapon smith food and drinks vendor so its still good

Two words: Foreststrider Clutchmothers.
their pretty rare - they take a while to spawn and theres only 2 of them in the zone at any one time that i can ever find.
still, killing them gives some pretty good green drops for level 20-25 or so.
you find em down near the entrance to ashenvale, but west towards the water further.

Ive been there before, There was about 20 ppl trying to get there. You definitly need a mount and a slow fall pot or if ur a mage. Dont try to kill them btw.

Darkshore is a good place to lvl. Say ur a human rouge and u finished all the quests in west that r for ur lvl and u dont wana kill things to lvl which is way slower than doing quests. Go to Darkshore and do all quests there that will get u up to lvl to do the higher lvl quests in Westfall. It is a good source for cash too.

You don't need a mount or slowfall to get there...
In moonglade by the tunnel to fellwood to to the right you will see 2 steep slopes beside each other like /\ jump on that till you get to the top
(may take awhile took me an hour) once your up follow the mountains to where the village is jump down. (you will lose health when you hit but won't die if you get to the right spot.
Or you can be very very very very very lazy and do this.
Go to macros and put this in /script Logout();
/script CancelLogout();
/script Jump(); use that and i don't know if it hotfixed it but you can jump as high as you want.

I'm a noob gnome lock (8 at present) and i wanna be able to get to Darkshore, getting to lvl 11 or so shouldn't take long, but i want to find out now because i figure, wihout any flightpaths it's gonna be a helluva long walk... I need some directions from iron forge or somewher around it.

This spams my WD from time to time which is odd since I am a horde. Someone told me there is a forsaken tower with 2 horde npcs, so i wish to go there because Alis attacking horde npcs=flagged alis and flagged alis=potential hks.

Try to save one gold by level 18, then ask someone in Stormwind to 'port you to Darnassus.
From there catch the boat down to Darkshore.

There is a giant thresher far to the north-west of darkshore, called Oceanic Beast.
It is located in the waters which are too deep to swim in (you become fatigued if you are there too long, and die).
Me and a friend wanted to see if we could run to Teldrassil from Darkshore. Me being a 60 Warlock, and him a 60 Shaman. He gave us both the Water Walking buff, and we proceeded to run through the deep waters as far as we could. We both died far out at sea, but I had soulstoned, so i ressed and continued to run some more.
My health had got pretty low by the time I reached it, it was a ?Elite Beast, and managed to kill me in a single hit (I hadent even noticed it before It suddenly popped up and killed me, so it must aggresive). I looked at it some more and got a tone of screenshots while my corpse was floating.
Giant thresher monster, about 5 times the average size i'd say, very dark skin.
I've tried to go back to the same place a few times now but havent seen it again, i'm guessing it spawns at certain times (much like the rare Sewer Beast in Stormwind canals)
Also havent found it on thottbot or alakazam. Guess im the first person to see it?

My friend works for blizzard, dont beleave me if you dont want just listen. Directly west of darkshore is where the draenei startign place will be (the new alliance race for burning crusade). Since everybody would have to update to it eventualy when the expansion releases they have been sculpting the islands so if you wanted you could swim or waterwalk to it right now, but then information would be leaked right? so they set up these threshers to keep sneaky people who want to sneak a peak at the new islands the hell away. Im assuming everyone whos seen it was swiming a bit sharply west compared to north. The threshers will disapear the seccond burning crusade releases so if you want to see these creatures do it now before they're gone, just swim west till about the head of the sea dragon on the world map. (note: the treshers can see though all the tricks like stealth so dont try that)

those cat figurines randomly summon a ghost saber who attacks you but if you kill him you get a glowing cat figurine wich summons a ghost saber to fight for you for 10 min. THIS PET IS TAMABLE.
it is not stealthed but it is semi-transparent.
it comes with claw rank 3 and it has 2.00 attack speed.
it does a lot of danage and owns in wsg and ab.
its a lvl 19-20 when it spawns.

I have a level 21 hunter NE, and she's been to Iron Forge to learn guns (didn't need it, I know, but it's a cool skill to know, anyway). I've taken my human to Iron Forge, for starts, I didn't like the human start, so I moved her to Iron Forge.
My human, is a level 8. Does anyone know how humans do in Darkshore? I'm familiar with Darkshore, and have almost finished with all the quests there, for my hunter night elf. I like Darkshore. My human is a warrior.
Does anyone have a human they've taken to Darkshore? Should I level up a little?

Aberdine is where Nirvana's lead-singer Kurt Cobain grew up. He was born in Hoquim. Aberdine is directly next to Hoquim in Washington State. In World of Warcraft, there is a Cobain NPC in Auberdine Inn. There is a place in Scotland named Aberdeen too.

Auberdine sits on Darkshore, and to those sailing into it from Teldrassil for the first time, it may seem lonely and perhaps even a bit foreboding. However, when you see what lies beyondd its borders, it will seem like an oasis.
The town itself is quite robust. There are a plethora of quests available here, from inspecting beached sea creatures to fishing for gizmos to exploring ancient ruins. Mining, Engineering, and Blacksmithing trainers have a small camp in a corner of the town, forge and all. Tailors can also train within one of the town's buildings. There are food and drink suppliers, armorers, weaponsmiths, clothiers, leather armor merchants, shieldsmiths, trade vendors, and even more. All basic needs can be found here, and getting to other profession and class trainers is a safe journey. Simply take the Hippogryph or boat back to the safety of Teldrassil's port town, and use the portal to materialize within Darnassus.

Within this safe area, just south on the river and just at the entrance to the south end of Darkshore, are a few rivers, ponds, and a large temple which is home to Onu, the Ancient of Lore. Aside from Onu's various quests, there are two vendors sharing his home, which can provide quick trade supplies for those who can craft on the go, or simply buy items off you to clear inventory room. However, no one can repair your equipment here. You'll need to trek back to Auberdine for that.

A little hard to get to. Follow the northern edge of Cliffspring River all the way to the mountains at the eastern border of Darkshore (following the riverside actually takes you a bit southeast). Once you reach the mountains, follow them north until you find a climbable path. This path leads you to a cave near the waterfall flowing into the river. That's Cliffspring Falls.
Inside, you'll find Stormscale Wave Riders and Stormscale Sirens. Be at least level 17 or 18 before entering here. The Stormscales are dispatched easily when isolated, but in groups can be deadly. There are also clusters of Twilight Thugs at two dead-ends in the cavern, and fighting all three at once is often the only choice. This makes level 19 or 20 even better to explore the cave, and since only a single quest takes place here, that can be shelved for the end of your stay in Darkshore.

Located a short distance north along the road from Auberdine, the ruins of Bashal'Aran are the newest haunt for the troublemaking sprites, though they're more of a threat now, as their Satyr masters are tightening their grip on them. Inside that blue glow is a friendly NPC that gives out quests, by the way.
Within the ruins are Vile Sprites and Wild Grells, which aren't really problems unless you're not at level 12 yet. Deth'ryll Satyrs are not as common here, but a few tend to spawn around the edges of the ruins and are best left alone until level 13 or 14.

Having a hard to finding this ancient flame, where i would "Destroy the Ancient Moonstone Seal" that I have aquired from a Deth'ryll Satyrs.
I have found a flame, but I am not able to destroy the Seal in.

The ancient Highborne were a race of pride and nobility, but their self-inflicted downfall infused the dead race with evil magics that ensure their endless existence will be a painful and ghostly one. End their suffering once you're at level 13 and can venture safely into the ruins of Ameth'Aran where Cursed, Writhing, and Wailing Highborn haunt. Be careful if you spot the ghost of Anaya Dawnrunner, though. She's not to be trifled with if you're not at least level 16 or 17.

The sight of The Master's Glaive is awe-inspiring, but sadly, another strange cult thought so first, and so Twilight Disciples and Thugs have claimed the area. They roam around on their own, so it shouldn't be too hard to pull one at a time. However, do take that extra caution, as they are still humanoid enemies. Be at least level 18 for this area, as these fools pack quite a punch. Also have an escape plan, just in case.

These dangerous ruins are found at the very northern end of Darkshore. Firstly, this should be one of the last places you visit in Darkshore. Level 20 would be a good level to be at, though you may have to fight level 21 monsters are certain points, so if you want to wait a level or two after that, it wouldn't be a bad choice.
Stormscale Myrmidons and Sorceresses can be overcome at level 20, but Stormscale Warriors can be as high as 21, meaning great danger for those who venture here who are not yet in their 20s.
North of the actual ruins is an isolated field area filled with Giant Forestriders (easy at level 19), Moonstalker Sires (likewise), and Moonstalker Matriarchs. The Matriarchs are level 20, which is alright, but they have a minion (though by the name seems more like a child) at around level 15-17, which makes them a bit more difficult to fight. I would advise level 21 or 22 just to be safe, especially if you accidentally engage a Matriarch and another Moonstalker, which means 3 cats just tearing you to shreds. :) Have fun.

The cult of the Dark Strand crowd around this tower, and would be bowing to the windows at the top floor if it weren't for their programmed patrol areas that have them plodding around among campfires and the like. But enough about that, let's kill them. Dark Strand Fanatics can be handled at level 17, but 18 would be a safer bet just in case you're forced to fight two at once. A named Satyr mob called Delmanis the Hated spawns here, but you can also dispatch him with relative ease at 18. However, don't venture inside the tower itself! Just inside are level 28 (!) Dark Strand Voidcallers, along with their level 28 minions. If you decide to come back later to fight them for good measure, be at level 32-35 so you can handle two level 28 foes at once.

You can get close to the door, but once you cross the outer threshhold of the doorway, you are TOAST! Happy questing y'all...

The Long Wash starts slightly north of Auberdine, crosses under it, and continues south for a ways. Pygmy Tide Crawlers and Young Reef Crawlers are small-fry crabs that can be preyed upon by those as low as level 10. Do be careful, though, as even the low-level Greymist Murlocs here (Raiders and Coastrunners, at around level 12 or 13) can prove overwhelming in large numbers. If you take a swim into the black waters, be conscious of the fact that Darkshore Threshers, level 13 sea creatures, roam the deeps.

The rolling Cliffspring River cuts across Darkshore's northern half and is more or less safe for experienced adventurers above level 15. Along the roads leading here, you can find Thistle Bears, Moonstalker Runts, and Forestrider Fledglings. These are less of a challenge and are fine for those at level 13 or so. Foreststriders, Moonstalkers, and Rabid Thistle Bears can be dealt with easily at 15 in turn. You can also find Reef Crawlers in the river's waters. They're only a little higher in level at 16/17 but are not too dangerous considering they're a nonaggressive crab.

The area of Mist's Edge basically encompasses the northern part of Darkshore's coastline, north of Auberdine. There are various variaties of crabs on the beach, from Encrusted Tide Crawlers to Raging Reef Crawlers. These creatures are nonaggressive but are of the higher-level variety, so I would suggest waiting until level 18 or so before trying to take on the upper echelon of crustraceans.
At various spots along the shore, you'll run into Greymist Murloc camps. Tidehunters and Oracles make up these camps, and are fairly tough. Be at a minimum of level 19 before disrupting their corpse-camping. Off the shore, in the depths of the water, you'll find Elder Darkshore Threshers, who are soloable at level 17 despite their imposing frame.
There's a quest in this area that has you fighting a robotic pirate, but it's a surprise attack (maybe not so much now that I've told you). It's quite a tough cookie, so as soon as you start interacting with robotic pirates, you may want to call a friend or two to accompany you.

The strongest of the Blackwood Tribe has gathered here to camp out, it seems, but they will definitely drop their toasted marshmallows to maul you at a moment's notice. Blackwood Ursas and Shamans are no easy fights, clocking in as high as level 20. Be very careful and consider leaving this area for last, or at least close to last, as the Ruins of Mathystra to the north are just as dangerous.
A quest has you heading into the cave at this camp and then back out with a wounded NPC, making this an even more challenging area.

Prospector Remtravel is the miner's equivalent of Mr. Bean, so be prepared if you're going to escort him through his own excavation site. Cracked Golems roam through the site, and Remtravel will attract them all, so be prepared! Aside from the level 20-ish Golems in the area, you may have to deal with some Troggs during the quest, and they'll be coming from nowhere. Be prepared.

While the east end of the Wildbend River lies in the safe reaches of the Grove of the Ancients, the western end is blanketed in Grizzled Thistle Bears and Moonstalkers/Moonstalker Sires. Take care in those areas, and don't go hunting below level 17. A Moonstalker Sire pouncing on you as you battle a Grizzled Thistle Bear is one party you don't need to attend.

This shore runs from around the end of Wildbend River to the very south end of Darkshore's...shore. The Twilight Vale runs the same area, but further inland, among the trees. Basically, it runs from Amath'Aran all the way down to the Cliffspring River.
On the shore, you'll find various variaties of Crab and Murloc in the mid-teens. Inland, you'll find beasts such as Moonstalkers (15) and Moonstalker Sires (18/19), as well as Forestriders (15) and Rabid Thistle Bears (14) with a few Grizzled Thistle Bears (17) closer to the river.
The Blackwood tribe has camps throughout. Some are composed of lower-level Blackwood, such as Windtalkers and Pathfinders (suitable for level 14 and above) and the tougher Warriors and Totemics (wait until you're level 18).
