Pretty straight forward fight. He do a debuff on 5 people once in a while that reduce their hp to 1 and they are not healable for that time. Right after that he cast a shadownova which does 3k shadow damage and has a 30yrd range or so. If you get the debuff, just run out of range. Also static infernal spawn which do a hellfire, just don't stand close to them.
In phase 2 he increases his melee damage greatly. Save damage cooldowns for that phase and burn him down fast to 30%, tank should use flasks, nightmare seed, gem, ls and sw. healers should "spamheal".
At 30% phase 3 starts where he throws his axes away which are their own NPC now and they will go for the raid, just heal through it and bring him down.
At the moment the Prince has some bugs. He can be unattackable after a wipe (think it happens when people run out of the room when wipe). Also if you wipe in phase 2 his melee damage stays the same for the whole fight. If this happens, you kinda need to reset the instance. Healing through this insane damage for 70% is kinda hard.

He has a huge aggro range, so don't enter in the room untill you're ready.
Through out the fight he summons infernals from the sky landing in random spots. They start spamming a large range hellfire, that ticks for over 1k a second, so keep away. You can not target them. There will be only 4 maximum on the ground. The oldest infernal disappears as the next one is incoming, so try to remember the order and move around accordingly.
Phase 1: This part is pretty easy. He casts a spell called enfeeble on 5 random people, never the person who has the aggro. This spell reduces the target to 1 hp, they'll look like they're in a priest's shadow form. You can't heal this. When you receive this debuff run away from the Prince if you're melee, range shouldn't have to move if they're max range. After 6 seconds he casts a 3k shadow nova that knocks back the people in range and the debuff should be removed by that time, returning your health you had before.
Phase 2: At 60% he'll start dual wielding axes which increase his damage and he'll sunder the MT. He continues to do the same as phase 1.
Phase 3: At 30% his axes start floating around attacking random targets, ranging from 100-400+ depending on the persons armor rating. He stops casting enfeeble on the 5 random targets, but continues to cast his shadow nova.

As someone already mentioned, if you try to run out and reset the encounter not only will he pwn you anyway, but once you ress up there's a chance that he'll become unattackable.
There's a way around this however. If you pull a flesh beast up to his area (just get a hunter to misdir a warrior standing near prince, pull and fd) then demo shout when ur near him it unbugs.
Easy fight otherwise, depends a bit on how unlucky you get with infernals though.

As of 2/20/07, it appears that Blizzard has made Prince easily resettable by running out into the circular room just outside the hallway to the room he patrols in. No de-agro bug any more when resetting and he runs right back to his patrol route.

We got the unattackable bug and dragged an imp to him and it fixed him, however I happened to be repairing at the time causing him to run out of the room. He was attackable when we returned, so it seems that the bug could be related to stages.

If you have a decent, skilled tank, you will be able to kill Prince Malchezaar fairly easily. He's a three stage encounter, and he spawns Infernals who stay in one position and fire damage an area around themselves. When you stand at the door to his room look down and note the "light" floor which starts right at the door entrance. Those 5 yards are the key to avoid 'the unattackable' bug. When a wipe is called let all raid members go on those about 5 yards area. If everyone does this not only the prince will NOT bug but he will most probably kill 1 or 2 members and then reset leaving the rest alive.

If you're having problems with the infernals, bring a hunter and put a raid symbol on his head. He's able to see the infernals on the map, so he'll be the first one to find a safe position. Everyone else just follow him there. The hunter should also tell the tank where to go in case the infernal spawns near the prince. In our guild the hunter says simple commands via teamspeak, like "Raid left;", "Tank back" etc. to speed things up.
All in all you'll just need quick reflexes and some good healers to kill him. And maybe a bit of luck with the infernals. We had one kill where we had to move only 3 times the whole combat.

MOST EASY WAY TO KILL UNTILL FIXED -
1) Tell the MT to grab the prince. Bring him to the door. Tank him in front of the door so infernals will never bother you throughout the fight. Use KTM Threatmeter to control aggro. It is imperative that the MT doesnt lose aggro.
2) For his enfeeble and shadownova you will easily evade these abilities.
Melee- Go outside the room and hide in the first crack of the wall, when you recieve enfeeble and wait for the shadow nova. (note: I was feral cat druid did not fully fit in but half my body was in so I did not get shadownova'ed.
Ranged- There is a 2nd crack where everyone must always stand and attack the prince from there. I was not a ranged attacker so I'm not sure if you stay inside the crack but play around with it. If you do get enfeeble try to run as far in the crack as you can without getting shadownova'ed. Even if you dont get enfeebled you must try to hide to make it easier for your healers.
Phase 1-Light dps tank and spank)
Phase 2-Burn stage and the healers must focus)
Phase 3-Kill Kill Kill
(Note: i was melee dpsing so really all i had to do was hide from shadownova, and enfeeble. Then continue to dps him. Not sure what else was going on but the fight was like a tank and spank.)

A note for rogues on this fight,
If you find yourself enfeebled and cannot make it out of nova range (or if you are not enfeebled and don't wish to run out) You may Cloak Of Shadows his nova. Make SURE you CoS as soon as you see him casting, or 2 - 2.5 seconds after you are enfeebled.

As of the patch (2.1), this fight has become considerably easier. Damage has been decreased at the start of Phase 2 and the infernals wait a little longer after landing before using their hellfire ability.
One of the many nerfs Blizzard made to boss fights in Karazhan (presumably to allow progression to occur faster)

Our guild found that keeping Curse of Weakness on Prince during Phase 2 significantly reduces the damage the tank receives. This drastically made a difference in the amount of mana our healers were able to conserve during this phase. I would also suggest designating one healer to heal the raid during Phase 3, preferably a class that is able to put HoT on the raid.

The most poorly designed encounter to this point IMO. An encounter of this lever should not be almost entirely based on luck.
Infernals that aren't targetable much less CCable in any way that fall in random locations is just enormously frustrating. Made 10 attempts tonight, had no more than 4 infernals land in a spot that wasn't inconvenient. Most landed in spots that boxed us in almost immediately or ensured that by the 3rd infernal we would be dead.

Luck used to be a minor factor in this fight, an average crew could down him within 4 attempts for sure.
But as of 2 weeks ago, luck seems to have been taken out of the picture, and the encounter is designed so the only groups that could down him are the groups geared so well they probably don't need much (if anything) from his loot table.
Our guild has Gruul on farm and used to have all of Karazhan on farm. This week neither of our Karazhan teams have been able to kill Prince after 2 days because of the phase 3 infernal drops. It seems that the infernals target the tank after a specific time or health %. It may require a lot of movement at that phase, or a lot more DPS than what used to be required.
My belief is that Blizzard wanted Prince to be more difficult than Nightbane, so they buffed the Price fight rather than nerfing the Nightbane fight. Sadly, this means we can't bring undergeared (or underskilled) people to this fight anymore.

Note that pets are not targeted by Enfeeble and do not get knocked back by the Shadow Nova. With the recent change of Mend Pet to a heal-over-time, It's safe to leave the pet on target for the whole fight, unless it's too close to one of the infernals. Simply heal through it. The only issue is mana consumption.
While there are many advocates of using cooldowns, etc., to maximize damage output in Phase 2, the rapid accumulation of infernals in Phase 3 makes damage output more important there. He simply must be burnt down quickly in Phase 3, or there will soon be too many infernals and no safe place left.

We had 8 failed attempts last night. After being boxed-in and then bombed by infernals all night, we opened up a ticket to the GMs. After we registered our complaint we knew the GM assisting us was going to watch our next attempt. Guess what? Not one infernal dropped on us during the fight. How convenient. After the fight the GM sent a tell to our Raid Leader saying “Looks like you have everything under control.”

omg , we get prince down every week with no troubles then this week we come in and 1st attempt all infernals drop ontop of us , second same thing and it kept happening , arent the infernals supposed to be random , cos they were dropping in same spot right ontop of us every single time

I've worked out what caused the wipes. They were always:
Rapid-fire damage spikes on the tank, presumably from Thrash.
...or....
Running out of room in Phase 3 due to too many infernals spawning.
Despite many complaints, these are not bad luck. The tank and healers have assorted methods of dealing with damage spikes if they are ready for them. The Phase 3 slew of infernals is essentially a "soft enrage timer". You simply have to smash him down before there are too many infernals to avoid them all.
Blowing your wad in Phase 2 and entering Phase 3 with no mana and all your nukes on cooldown is not a good idea. You won't get him down in time if you do that.
An enemy cast mod to detect the thrashes would be a big help.

If you are having trouble with Infernals on this fight, our guild uses a different strategy.
Healers and ranged DPS should be standing at the door (An infernal will never hit the door). They should stay here throughout the fight, and the melee DPS should run back to the healer group when enfeeble hits. The tank should place himself against the "wall" about 40 yards away from the door, on the right side. My guild got lucky the two Prince kills, an infernal did not spawn between the tank and ranged groups. However, if this should occur, the ranged DPS will have to move.

Does anyone else have a problem with the beggining of phase 2? It seems that he drops his threat once phase 2 starts. A couple times our tank has lost aggro from me and gotten enfeebled because I became the new main target. I stop dps now completely at 61% and get misdirect ready just to make sure.

We started having trouble with him in the last 30% after patch 2.1. While we would consistently make it through the 60-30 phase, we would keep getting boxed in by the Infernals in the last 30%.
Our healers were losing their space in the middle of the field by Infernals dropping in the middle of the field, and had to move more than they could really manage. We also started to get semi-paranoid about drop patterns - half the field would be open, but the infernals would consistently land on us in the crowded half. We cursed Blizzard, we cursed luck and we got frustrated.
Then we decided to start moving more in the first 40%. While we may start up in the northern section, we may end up by the door when he hits 30%. We want to have a lot of room around us by the time we hit 30%. Tank using Intervene on one guy who prepositions and DPS holding while the tank runs has helped that a lot.
And we started saving 10 minute DPS-cooldowns (Bloodlust) for the last 30% phase. It is based on the belief that the drop pattern isn't random in this part, we may very well be wrong, but we can heal our way through the 60-30 phase with decent geared healers, and we want the last 30 to drop before we get infernaled to death.
So far this has worked well for us, and at least provided better results than before we made a conscious effort to be in the open and save cooldowns for when we hit 30% instead of 60%.

Had a little trouble since new patch where door closes. But a lot of concentration gets it done. We have our MT tank him a little to the left of the door outside. We have the smartest person in raid lead the rest of the group around in a loop around the area, avoiding Infernals. He casts and enfeeble spell on a random raid member, when he does this you get 1 hp and 0% hp regen, if you get this run as far away as possible, because soon after he casts enfeeble he does a shadow nova that will kill you. At about 60% or so he Enrages and increases damage done by a s#!t load. During this time you must unload ALL YOU GOT to get him to 30%, pop heroism if you got a shaman. Just do Whatever you can to get him to 30%. At 30% the summons two flying axes that attack a random raid member, you can easily heal through these, dont worry too much about them, just keep dps'ing Prince. Most of the raid, exception for melee dps, is out of range of the shadow nova, so they dont have to worry much. The big problem is having the dps classes get out of range of the shadow nova, most likely we have them run to the edge of the platform, its not too far of a run. 1st attempt since new patch we got him to 1% and casters/ranged dps get surrounded by infernals, we could have done a lot of things to down him, but whatever. 2nd attempt on him DESTROYED him, didnt lose anyone. Biggest problem of the entire raid in Kara is getting healers to log on >.< So we got an old healer who retired from WoW and promised him the healing mace if he comes back. Healers lucky day. Then the next week, retarded melee dps' classes died the 1st 5%. We had no problem 8 manning him, just took a little longer than usual. We had amazing luck with infernals. Concentration and luck will get you to down this boss. GL with infernals.

Hunters, (non-tank) warriors, rogues, (enhancement) shamans, (cat) druids, and (retribution) paladins should use an Elixir of Demonslaying (

It gives a massive 265 attack power for five minutes, and is better than any other buff in the game for this fight.
Warn your herbalists ahead of time. The materials are not trivial to get. They're worth it, though, to avoid the common 2% wipes on this guy that you get from not having quite enough DPS.

Prince is pure easy mode if you got the tactics. Communication is also vital to get the raid to move out of the infernals.
As a DPS warrior I got no problem whatsoever with the enfeeble or infernals, I usually only need one heal up to phase 3, if I get the blades on my ass I get some healing, but other than that it's pure easy mode. (based on luck)

Dont know if my guild is just lucky or what it is, but the way we do it is that I tank prince at a wall, near the doorway we come from. and all the ranged DPS stay on the little gray area at the door, the only dmg they suffer then is the 1 hp debuff, no infernals have yet spawned right in front of them. So I would say its worth the risk.

If you get boxed in during Phase 3 to the point where there isn't enough room for the ranged damage-dealers and the healers to back away from the Prince without getting into an infernal's Hellfire, move in close to the Prince.
He doesn't have a Cleave, he doesn't use Enfeeble during Phase 3, and the Hellfire does more damage over time than the Shadow Nova. It's better to just eat the Shadow Nova damage than the Hellfire damage. Sure, with the axes and Amplify Damage thrown in, you're going to lose some of your raid to the Shadow Nova, but at least you will have a few more seconds to burn him down before he finishes off the wipe. There's no chance if you're standing next to an infernal. Given how many raids wipe at 1% or 2% on this guy, this may be enough to push you over into beating him.
Make sure that you're standing between the Prince and a wall. The knockback from Shadow Nova will throw you into the wall instead of into a Hellfire.

This used to be a frustrating fight for me as a Rogue. But it not so bad anymore. You just need to be patient, you'll still deal out some good dps, even with all the running.
Given that your tank is tanking him in the right spot (little more that 30 yards away from the door). Your job is simple.
If you get emfeebled, run to the door as soon as it happens. If you're not going to make it, use Cloak of Shadows (if it's on cooldown...just dont hesitate when emfeeble happens)
If you don't get emfeebled, use cloak of shadows to resist Shadow Nova, if it on cooldown, just take the hit. It aint that bad
If an infernal (or two) get summoned next to prince, stay out of it's Aoe and try to still hit Prince. If you can't hit prince without getting hit by the aoe, then you're out of luck...go get by the door and start throwing knives, shoots arrows, etc... until the infernal despawns. If you stay in the AOE you will get killed by emfeeble.
If an Infernal spawns between you and the door (where the healers are). You're going to need to run the other way when emfeeble hits. And bandage yourself if necc.
Essentially if an infernal is going to be in your way when you have to run when emfeebled, you need to get over to the door, before that emfeeble happens. Otherwise you'll die. Don't forget to still fire away with your knives, and get ready for an infernal to despawn.
Elixir of Demonslaying (

) is great for this fight too.
Save big dps cooldowns like Adrenaline rush for right after an emfeeble, that way you dont waste them (because you had to take off running).

There's actually a very simple way to avoid the frustrating infernals.
Our MT pulled him all the way across the balcony to the back edge where our melee DPS jumped in. Meanwhile, our healers and ranged DPS moved to the corner where the building meets the edge on the left hand side.
The Infernals dont drop close enough to this position for some reason, that they no longer become a problem. Then when anyone is enfeebled, the healers and ranged can just stay put, and the melee DPS can run straight back there to avoid the shadow nova. And if your a druid like me, you can pop an innervate on any of the healers running low.
We killed prince on our second try. would've downed him on our first attempt, but an unlucky infernal dropped just close enough to the Prince that it wiped our Melee DPS. But we hugged the wall on the second try and this was no longer a problem

apparently with paladin tanks that have reckoning talent, when you proc reckoning, if malchezaar parries any of these swings he can do approx 12-15k dmg in about 3 seconds. Because a parry gives him the opportunity to immiedietly hit you again. And 3-4 3500+ hits = not good.

While this fight does have luck, proper positioning can help a lot to reduce the chance of bad luck to happen. Just about every infernal wipe I've had on prince was due to either bad positioning or slow reaction time, rather than impossible spawns.
Just make sure you re-position the raid after EVERY infernal drop so that you have as much room as possible to play with. If your DPS is low, you may actually have the first and possibly second infernal despawn so keep that in mind when choosing your position after the 3rd (?) infernal.
Re-positioning to a good place will greatly reduce your chance of having bad luck.
If an infernal lands on the tank and he just moves a few steps out of it, you're that much more likely to have another one drop on his other side and the 3rd one dropping on him leaving him nowhere to move. I could give many other examples but you should just be smart and find a spot where you'd be least likely to get boxed in.
Also remember the tank can't see anything on this fight so you need to tell him exactly where to go. Decide on some common languege before the fight so he actually understands what you're saying - preferably that will be possible with 2-3 words to tell him to go to just about anywhere, including to the opposite side from where you initially tanked him, as sometimes the other side will have simply too many infernals.
When you fail that fight, instead of saying "shitty infernal drops" try finding where you could've actually moved in order to not get screwed by those shitty drops.

Just a little funny comment that you can vote down if you want but a few nights ago we decided to go down prince(Myself being the MT) before Kara had reset. After a few tries we got it but a very funny yet sad thing happened on the second try. Our hunter got a new pet only 63/64ish that he had out during the fight and at around 40% right as he had cast Enfeeble somehow(I honestly have no idea how) the bear had aggro right as he had cast leaving me enfeebled, the bear with aggro and a wipe. We just laughed it off and tried again. Anyways mark down if you must I just though I would share this moment.

Something I don't see mentioned here much. If your guild's raid group is comprised of inexperienced or undergeared raiders, and the spike damage from phase 2 is demolishing your Tank, the parry hasted attacks may be the reason for the wipes, and not the healers.
We wiped 3 times, unable to survive massive spike damage on our MT during phase 2. Finally, someone mentioned the parry-hasted attacks and we tried again, this time, in phase 2, the MT did nothing, just sat there spamming shield block and thunderclap, but not attacking. In that attempted we killed prince with nobody dying.
Just a tip, if you happened to miss the breifly mentioned parry-haste and are having trouble surviving through phase 2.

the infernals are really annoying, my raid had him down to single didgets then 1 infernal hit us in the face and we where traped. it ended up prince on 1% and the tank soloing him. shame he died and after that we couldnt get him down again due to the dam infernals

This boss is not that hard to kill when a member of the raid group tells everyone about the falling infernals.
It's quite easy to escape the infernals, but you need a bit of luck tho.

Don't know if it was blind luck, but we had the DPS group standing at the doorway after 6-7 wipes on Prince, with the Tank pulling him alongside the wall.
No infernal even come close.

It appears that in 2.4, the previous safe spots no longer work as infernals may drop there (it happened to my group wiping us). Another source of this,

, says "Note: As of 2.4 It seems they changed this so that these safe spots no longer exist, and there's a chance that an infernal will land exactly in those spots."
It may be the case that people now have to learn to do it without using safe spots... at least until possibly a work-around can be found.
Expect Prince Malchezaar to cause a lot more headaches.

I did this fight last night for the first time since 2.4 came out and noticed 2 things:
SW:Pain could not be dispelled (It wouldn't come off)
The infernals act wierd right before they land and are a little harder to predict now.
We had multiple bad infernal drops and never made it to phase 3 so I can't tell you if anything in phase 3 is different.

What bugged me about this guy is, even if your tank and healers are geared enough for Phase 2, you can still wipe just because an infernal face plants your entire group...Adding luck into the final boss of a relatively skill based raid seems.....unfair. It's almost as if you work your way through Kara, gearing up, just to be gimped by luck right at the end!
Plus for our first 4 attempts I was OT and got enfeebled every single time, until eventually I got enfeebled and ran straight into an infernal....
I then tried to MT it and both melee DPS died, then an infernal locked me in so that i couldn't move without going out of range of the healers, and the healers couldn't move without getting hit/going out of range of me...I ended up tanking him in an infernal! I hate this boss, he doesn't even fit in!

This is in regards to an aggro shift that randomly happens during the fight, resulting in Prince charging off to one shot a random member of the party who happened to be a victim of the aggro shift, the tank gets enfeebled, and the raid wipes.
This has happened three times. GM ticket opened, but i'm assuming that i'll get the "its working as intended" nonsense.
In one case, the MT had 40k aggro over anyone else in the raid. Go figure.

Great tanking trinket for this fight. Pop it at around 95% and it'll refresh in time for phase 2. Using it at the beginning of the phase helps mitigate a lo to damage and allows the healers time to change healing tactics.

While running kara with my little group a few weeks ago I finally got the chance to be MT. Being rather new in the tanking world I didnt really know alot about Crushing Damage. I had forgotten to incorporate Shield Block into the rotation. Just a friendly word to those like me who are new to tanking. Dont forget your shield block. He went through 18k hp really fast.

A lot of people consider this to be a luck fight, but its really a DPS check. If your DPS is high enough, you'll kill him before there are a lot of infernals, and you don't have to rely on lucky placement. The rate of infernal drops increases dramatically in phase 3, so save all your cooldowns for the beginning of that phase.

This is a fight with a lot of luck involved. My group last night had several goes at him last night, always getting him under 10%, but bad infernal drops kept killing us. Either they would lock the dps in the corner, destroying them with enfeeble, or lock the dps out and away from the tank. If you get some lucky infernal drops, he's doable.

Just took him down. Three things are important in this fight:
A) Healing, mostly on MT, til phase 3.
B) Dealing with the enfeeble properly (see below)
C) Getting away from the infernals and the shadow nova.
(A) is pretty straightforward. If you're not the tank you should never take damage in this fight. The tank should take as little as possible, meaning potions are good times. He hits like a truck. The DPS folks really need priority #1 to be not taking damage, and number 2 priority to be dealing damage.
(B) is complicated. Every 30 sec or so, during phases 1 and 2, the prince will "enfeeble" 5 members of the raid, not including the main tank. This seems to be tied to aggro, it's like numbers 2-6 on his threat list. When he does it to you, your health goes to 1. At this point, all you have to do is dodge ALL damage for the next 5 or 10 sec, and you suddenly get your health all back. There's no point in healing people who have taken an enfeeble, since they get all their health back for free anyway, a few seconds later.
Dodging all damage can be hard. Right after he enfeebles....
(C) he starts casting a 4-sec-cast-time shadow nova, which hits for about 3k dmg in a 20 yard radius around him. Melee needs to run away if they get enfeebled. Melee CAN stay in if they're not enfeebled, BUT this will make the fight a lot more healing intensive and is not recommended as there's a nasty knockback attached to the nova, which can knock you into the infernals.
The infernals make this fight very tricky. They rain down one at a time, every minute or so, over the course of the fight, and despawn after roughly 5 mins. About 3 sec after they hit the ground, they start hellfiring. Though it only hits for about 1000/sec, it's bad times if you try to stand in it, so don't. Also, if you get enfeebled, you can die from it in one tick (1000 damage is more than the 1 health you have...) and if you get knocked into it by a 3k shadow nova that can get pretty ugly too.
If an infernal hits your raid, move the raid. If an infernal hits your tank and the boss, move the tank and the boss. Obviously this can get dicey and you can wipe if you get penned in.
The prince goes thru three stages.
(1) Stage one is cake, he hits like a truck but not compared to phase 2...and he does the enfeeble thing. Infernals rain down as well, one at a time. Don't bother trying to DPS fast in this phase, save your mana and stuff for phase 2.
(2) Phase 2 begins at 60%, and it is the same as phase 1 except the prince enrages and hits twice as fast, or twice as hard, or something similar. The enrage cannot be dispelled as far as I know.
(3) Stage 3 is somewhat easier, and starts at 30%. He drops a pair of axes, which become a separate entity and go out and attack random raid members for about 600 damage a hit (and they hit pretty fast). They don't stay aggroed on any one person very long though. He hits at about the same speed/strength as he does in phase 1, so healing on the tank gets easier. He also stops enfeebling people during this phase! The only thing to watch out for in stage 3 is faster infernal spawns, and the axes. During stage 3, the best thing to do is to burn him down as fast as possible.
That's really about it. We got him to 5% on our first try, without any potions, and down on our second try, when we potted up fully.

at the moment it is possible to tank him directly at the door, so that the tank stands on the doorstep, so that the prince stands on the terrace an the raid doesnt and the raid stands a few steps behind him.
the disadvantage is that the melee damage dealers cant do maximum damage because they shouldnt be kicked onto the terrace.
but the advantage is, that nobody gets the damage from the infernals and the healers can fully conectrate on the maintank.
but to all who think they can kill him now easily.. that wont work with the next patch anymore, but at the moment its a good possibilty to kill him fast and safe.

This fight requires luck. LOADS of luck.
Basically, it's tank and spank all the way, except there's infernals that drop randomly. These have an AoE hellfire, but don't move. Basically the goal here is to dodge these infernals, and keep up the main tank. Trouble is that if inferals keep landing in bad places (on or near the raid), you'll have no-where to go. This gets really bad in phase 3, as the infernals start landing like crazy. Also, as of patch 2.1 the boss can STILL BUG! He'll become untargetable, and, as stated above you need to go and grab a trash mob to make him aggro you.

Fight's not bad for rogues at all, and the damage they can put out on him is pretty high (and without mana constraint). Biggest key: tank threat generation. They have to be capable of generating a ton of threat. If they're not able to do >400 TPS, rogues as well as ranged/caster DPS, aren't going to be able to open up fully on Prince.
Enfeeble hits you randomly (as mentioned above). If it does hit, get your CoS ready for the nova coming your way...easy to do with BigWigs or whatever. If CoS isn't ready yet, run out, wait, and go back in.
If you're going to take the nova, just put your back toward the wall (or against if you can) and you go nowhere during the explosion. I usually stay in if enfeeble doesn't hit me...saving the CoS for when I'm enfeebled. Keeps DPS on the prince and our raids have never had mana issues. We also normally fight Prince on the eastern wall, moving him N-S as needed due to infernal placement.
Save as many cooldowns for phase 3 as possible.
Infernal placement is a lot about luck, and usually the rogue (especially those rogues who fight from behind the mob) is the one who can help fine-tune if the tank needs to move Prince somewhere (since the fire's probably brushing your backside). Yes, there will be fights where you just can't do anything and a wipe is near certain because the infernals basically cover the entire room. Other times, you get pretty lucky with placement. That's where the raid has to work well together.
IMHO, there needs to be a rogue in a Prince raid group. Two can work, but that normally means one less ranged/caster DPS. My recommendation to rogues that are just seeing Prince for the first time...be cautious and observant the first time or two. Jump out during every incoming nova, see where infernals are and see what they're doing. From that, you can learn about what you're seeing, and know what you can do with it. Then tighten down and learn how to stay in as long as possible, even during some damage to yourself.
Got very fortunate on 2nd kill to have the Malchazeen drop (2nd worst drop rate of anything he has).

Got this mother down with a PUG last night. Took us abooout 5 tries, potted up fully for each one. First attempt was to 50%, second was to 38%, third was to 38%, 4th we got him to 1% (GAH), and we killed him on the Fifth.
MT- Feral Druid
Melee DPS- Druid, Rogue, Fury Warrior
Healers- 1 priest, 2 holy Paladins
Caster DPS- 2 mages, one warlock
You need to keep in mind that this fight has alot of luck involved. If you get screwed by Infernal Drops, then the raid wipes, almost without exception.
If you dont get touched by infernals, then its an intense fight, for ALL classes and ALL roles involved.
Tank:
GENERATE INSANE AMOUNTS OF THREAT. this guys hits unbelievably hard, and if he hits anyone but you, they go bye-bye. Do your best to survive. In the initial parts, you must make sure to tank him against a wall (eastern wall is preferable) to avoid his knockback... and make sure that you move the boss when an Infernal drops on/inbetween/next to you and the rest.
Melee:
Give tank time to generate aggro. When he enfeebles,
GTFO
of his Shadow nova radias. We had one of our healers be marked as the "safe point" for melee to run back to when they are enfeebled, so that should help. Besides that, have at him, because you dont got no mana bars.
Healers:
HARD fight to heal for anyone. Prince hits like an 18-wheeler, so its gonna take some serious healing. One of the healers said that Flash Heals cant keep up with the damage dished out by this guy. Thankfully, noboy besides melee and tank should take damage during the fight, so that cuts down on the healing needed. Just remember to keep that tank up, and not to heal anybody that gets enfeebled.
DPS:
A good deal of this fight's weight comes down on your shoulders. As a major componant to the total damage, you need to be able to keep up a steady flow of damage while conserving mana. For Warlocks, DoTs work great, and shadowbolt. Imp is the best to use in this fight. Hunters shouldnt worry about their pets, its almost inevitable that they are going to die from the shadow novas, so keep that ranged going. Boomkins do Boomkin-y sorta things, and so do shaman. Mages keep your mana high, dont be afraid of Evocating, its a long fight. All should use pots.
Was a hard fight, quite rewarding experience.

with this positioning on the left wall you can usually do the fight with no infernals dropping on you unless your VERY unlucky
tank tanks him with his back to the wall so he doesnt get knocked back
ranged dps/healers stand at max range so they dont have to worry about dieing from enfeeble+nova
meele dps stands at max range and maybe brings along some drums of speed/speed pots so they can gtfo when hes about to nova
save your long cooldowns for the second phase
when the axes come out have 1 healer focused on the tank 1 focused on healing people that are getting axed and 1 switching between the two

Haven't noticed anyone mentioning this yet, but when you're enfeebled all heals on you are reduced by 100%, that plus the fact that you get it all back are the reasons why you don't heal an enfeebled person. so yeah, don't potion hoping it'll crit and save you from the nova. it won't.

We downed him 1st try by using the "safe-zones" on the left side from the door, left rock-railing of the "room". It was an extremely easy fight. Technically we 8-Manned him because the rogue and the fury warrior got enfeeble right away and could not escape the shadow nova fast enough.
I did notice the thrash of the axes a little, but two healers were on me and i was almost always topped off and as far as I could tell, the most damaging swing took away only a bit more than 1/3 of my health bar which was buffed to around 17k.
Holy Shield works wonders for Paladins and because of the thrash and Parry it actually almost uses up all charges until you can cast it again. I could see why, as described in a couple of guides, a Paladin is a little more reliable on such a fast hitting boss. Holy Shield > Shield Block.
The rest of a fight was a tank and spank only watching out for people who get shadow word: pain or the axes on them.
I understand now why nightbane is considered the final boss. This guy is a joke. We will try nightbane next weekend.

We downed prince with I believe 4 or 5 melle DPS.... The only disadvantage we had was enfeeble. They had to run out of the 30 yard range for shadownova... It worked realy well being coordinated....
Wiped once when Enfebaled and Infernal landed on Caster group killing 2 of the 3 healers and 1 DPS....

This fight is really annoying. You can do everything virtually right then get the worst possible infernal and wipe your group. I just wish that blizz would make this fight require skill and and strat then luck. Sure you can sit in the safe spots, but it requires no melee dps, which i am. W/e guess i'll just get killed by a infernal dropping on my head while enfeebled one more time...

Healing the enfeebled ppl doesnt work, so DONT try it just makes you go oom... this is usally a luck based fight and skill ofc... tank needs good defence AND good stamina otherwise crushing blows will kill him.
Infernals spawn on random locations.

Anyone notice that the infernals are dropping in different places now after the 2.4 patch?
Our group still starts off against the wall, but the tank has too move quite often to get out of the aoe from the infernals as well as the rest of the group.
This is probably how the fight is supposed to be.

it has definatly been changed in 2.4, both near the enterance and on the back wall infernals drop like rain. we had 3 in a row drop in the middle of our healer party.

yeah 3 time an infernal droped in between the tank and the healers and ranged dps. then all poped up in the middle of the room. this was crazy it happened 3 times in a row. and we never did kill him, i want gorehowl soooo bad :(

Killed him pretty easily in a few tries on a regular guild run last night got him to 1% once then he just slaughtered everyone. Droped T4 mage token 36stam 70AP can and his 92dps axe. Dps warrior took axe and cape XD

All this !@#$ about no good spots to be is wrong.
In the prince fight u will have the entire raid (except tanks and melee DPS) stand in the door through the ENTIRE fight and have your MT and melee stand at the wall to the right of you at maximum range. If a infernal hits the tank LET HIM FOR GOD SAKE stand still! Unless ur healing sucks quite a lot u should easily be able to take him down with infernals on him (my guild took him down with three "unlucky" infernals last week -.-)
Phases:
Phase 1:(100% - 60%) Prince is being MD pulled by a hunter to the MT and he starts grapping aggro when MT is on about 10-15k threat (depends on how much threat ur DPS dishes out) DPS should start. In this phase prince will summon infernals and just do melee on tank. This is actually just a tank' n spank phase.
Phase 2:(60% - 30%) Prince will stop summoning infernals but instead summon 2 1-h axes which he will hit the tank with. In this part he will hit the tank extremely hard and everything, CD, trinkets whatever u have MUST be used. Take him down to 30% as fast as possible and then the next phase start.
Phase 3:(30% - 0%) Prince will throw his axes up in the sky and begin summon infernals at this point again but this time he will do it much often. The axes will in this phase fly around hitting random targets in the raid this must be healed but it should be no problem for the raid healers. Take him down nice and slowly and thats the phase (at 15% have your tank (if warrior OFC pop Last stand in that case u can be 100% sure not to wipe) take him down from there and u got the fight.
All phases: He will use Enfeeble which causes ur maximum HP to drop down to 1 he will a few seconds after that use a ability called "Shadow Nova" this gives 3k shadow damage and kills u instantly if u are under the effect of Enfeeble the way to avoid this is having ur raid (as said earlier) stand in the door and MT at the wall. Melee DPS should bring some Elixir of Major Shadow Protection with them because this causes them to be able to survive a Enfeeble (Enfeeble disappears after about 10 secs and takes u to max HP) Enfeebled players should not be healed cuz their maximum hp is 1

If you have a decent, skilled tank, you will be able to kill Prince Malchezaar fairly easily. He's a three stage encounter, and he spawns Infernals who stay in one position and fire damage an area around themselves. The main challenge of the encounter is to adapt your positioning as it goes along to avoid these fire traps.

Well in my case i love fury but couldnt find anyone to make a felsteel longblade so i went with the reaper and re rolled im tearing people up except i still like fury better if i got Gorehowl it would be nice but really id rather have the Spiteblade in OH and Decapitator in MH but if Gorehowl dropped i still probably wouldnt get it considering i just got attuned for it a few nights ago still havent been in it and need to improve my gear a little but gear comes with hard work determination and more hard work plus G-leader is one of my friends so i could probably get it if i wanted to but then again i like prot so kings defender and the Shield of Impenetrable Darkness Plus T4 wouldnt be so hard to get with almost every boss in khaz on farm Thus which ever one comes first Decap. Gore. or maybe the Spiteblade and then bam ill probably go fury if no one takes the gorehowl ill take it ill wait for people to say like N or w/e nut if no one does its mine i know ill get King's Defender on first run if it drops because everyone has one but hey thats life some things come easy somethings dont

When my group fights prince we have all ranged dps and healers stand on that grey peice of ground right next to the door.DO NOT LET THEM MOVE, bad things will happen. and the tank stands at healers max range on the wall with the big cut out of it.

Fairly easy fight, it's basicly just a long tank 'n spank encounter. Be sure to bring enough mana pots or you'll be oom in notime.
The prince occasionally casts a shadow nova which should be avoided by everyone but the tank. He casts a SW:P on tank which can be dispelled. He also casts an enfeeble debuff on random raid members, reducing their hp to one for 8 seconds (don't heal, just let the buff run out and hp will be regained). If Melee dps get this debuff - get out of his shadow nova range until the debuff runs out.
Hellfire-casting infernals will fall from the sky at regular intervals, but they are stationary and easily avoided. The key is to predict where the infernals will land and start moving as soon as possible if needed. At least one raid member should be on constant lookout for the infernals in order to warn the raid.
At 60% the prince will equip his axes and his dps is increased by alot. This phase is extremely healing intensive so everyone should maximise dps from this point in order to quickly get to next phase. If the tank is in pre-karazhan gear he should have flasks and BoK in order to survive this phase.
At 30% the prince will release his axes and they come flying towards the other party members. Assign a healer to heal whomever gets targeted by the axes, while the rest of the raid focuses on the prince. The axes hit for 1000-1500 something on clothies so it's but a mere nuisance. He stops casting his hp-reducing debuff at this phase. If you aren't out of mana already there shouldn't be any problems here.

Devils Nightmare killed him for the first time on 27th Feb '07.
Just keep tank up for phase1, spam heal & nuke phase2, keep calm for phase3 - some raid healing and you got him. Generally speaking you get to phase3 theres no reason to wipe! Just keep control of where you raid are and where the infernals are dropping.

as a tank he was a bit of a git at first to tank couldnt get round tanking him with out seeing anything but a body on my screen but then i started to use my camera a bit more on him and kept screaming at ppl to tell meh were to move to ...(exa)( a direction not to the door when u cant see nothing but fire on the floor and a blob on the screen everynow and then getting a glimps of the grp was well funny but annoying in a certain way but ... yer prince needs a well co.ordinated grp i found and with that if u can beat him u got yourself some T4 headpiece which i still aint got and we killed him 3 times .. it will come soon i know it will lol

Eternal Echo, Horde guild on Anachronos (EU) downed him for the first time on Friday 8th June 07. Was our third attempt that night, and the guilds seventh or so overall attempt.
Loot was the Helm of the Fallen Defender (i got, new tank helm woo), Stainless Cloak of the Pure Hearted, and Nathrezim Mindblade.
