Technically PvP, a WoW PvP podcast, had the opportunity to interview the winners of the MDl All Stars as well as many of the top teams from the Arena World Championship at BlizzCon. Below is a summary of these interviews. The podcast itself can be found

.
MDI All Stars Winners - Free Marsy
Back in Legion players had more damage, Blood Elves had an AoE silence, and teams didn't have to contend with the Infested affix. In BfA, classes are more balanced and tanks are weaker, meaning dungeons are now slower to complete.
The mechanic of affixes can be troublesome on live servers since you have to wait for the ideal set of affixes.
Their advice on how to be successful in M+ dungeons is to become proficient at raiding first and the skills will trickle down. Communication is also important.
AWC Caster - Joefernandes
Joefernandes is the writer for our
Arms
,
Fury
, and
Protection Warrior
PvP guides.
Casting takes a lot of preparation. LAN experience matters for casters too!
Casting is more laid-back than playing, but has its own challenges. It's nice to see friends still succeeding in the professional WoW scene.
Casters are paired up and practice together, even in their own time. This is sometimes done by watching streams and commentating the matches.
AWC Teams
Tempo Storm
Jaime, a member of Tempo Storm, is the writer for our
Elemental
and
Enhancement Shaman
PvP guides.
This interview was conducted after the team's win against Super Frogs.
Turbo Cleave (Healer/Arms Warrior/Enhancement Shaman) is easier to play than the Outlaw/Fire composition, where the setup has to be perfect or you won't get a kill.
Resto Shaman has a big mana pool. Unless you spam Purge, you shouldn't run out of mana. It's more of a utility bar than a mana bar at the moment.
They had a revenge plan for Method Black. Method Black would provide practice for the team Tempo Storm were facing next, for up to eight hours.
The team are good friends, it's a good atmosphere for them and they intend to keep playing together.
Making a Movie
This interview was conducted after the team's win against Reformed.
Reformed playing RMP (Rogue/Mage/Priest) into their Demon Hunter/Balance Druid composition worked out well for them since they didn't really get to War Game into Reformed's main composition, Jungle Cleave (Healer/Feral Druid/Hunter). Both compositions could be defeated by outliving their offensive force. They knew Demon Hunter/Balance Druid was their best pick into both the compositions they'd face.
Since RMP is not as strong in BfA, they had to diversify into other compositions.
The team don't know if they'll continue together next year.
Prize money for WoW PvP esports is improving with more online cups and LANs. It's still hard to make a living from it, but it's getting better every year.
Pen and Paper
This interview was conducted after the team's win against rival Chinese team, Cohesion Dream.
The team practiced together every day for two years. They've formed good interpersonal relationships with each other.
They already reached their goal by winning one series.
For context, China had not won a series in the AWC in five years. The team went on to place equal third with Method Black.
One of their biggest challenges was to stay calm against tough competition.
ORDER
This interview was conducted after the team's win against Unitas Red.
Retribution Paladin/Arms Warrior beats Shadow Priest/Assassination Rogue, so they were confident about the last match of the series.
The team had a strong composition this year.
Oceanic players queue instanced PvP on NA servers, so they were able to practice against players from that region. They do face higher MS than NA players though.
Method Black
This interview was conducted after the team's win against The Gosu Crew.
Turbo Cleave seemed like the best answer against The Gosu Crew's main composition (Restoration Shaman/Survival Hunter/Outlaw Rogue). They wanted to find a way to incorporate a Rogue into their own comp for a Pikaboo vs. Whaazz showdown, but the composition wouldn't have worked out in their favour.
The team viewed The Gosu Crew as their biggest challenge.
Instead of trying to draw out the game, the team tried to run over The Gosu Crew and get a kill. They saw this as a good strategy since The Gosu Crew does best when they use this strategy themselves, but not particularly well when facing it.
Method Orange
This interview was conducted after the team's win against Skill Capped in the Semi Finals.
Team chemistry has been crucial to the team's success. It's also important to be able to take constructive criticism.
Though Samiyam had not played as much, he has been able to provide analysis which has allowed them to improve.
Competing in both PvP and PvE has been a challenge for Trill. PvP has made him more aware in PvE. He does not use addons in PvE.
This interview was conducted after the team's win against The Gosu Crew in the Grand Finals.
The team just focused on getting four wins. They feared The Gosu Crew the most and were hoping they wouldn't have to face them.
They had not played even one game to warm up on the day of the Grand Final.
The Gosu Crew played a composition they used to lose to but the team felt in control.
They had compositions they were very confident in.
Their practice and hard work paid off as they went into the Grand Final undefeated.
