You're meant to click on the ship, not walk onto it. But if you are here, you probably discovered that yourself.

I stepped on it, instead of clicking. Then wasted a lot of time on different skiffs/flightpoints and the bigger airship to try to get the quest to catch up, but I had to abandon and take it again. Easy when you do it right.

If you left to go do other stuff and can't remember where this quest is due to the game not showing it on the map, the coordinates are roughly (53, 64). Directly southwest of the dungeon entrance for "The Dawnbreaker".

Well, I had grabbed quests from all over and wasn't doing them linear, so when I got back to this one, Anduin was nowhere to be found. I kept getting on the dingy and flying over, but nothing changed at the other end. So, I uselessly tried from the ships and other FPs. I had already completed the set on the islands and thought maybe I couldn't get it because that was already done, but turned out it sends you to an area farther west after landing. Long story short, to get it to recognize my status on this and give me back my traveling companions, I had to drop the quest and reacquire it. The bad thing was that the questgiver icon was buried beneith the Dungeon marker for Dawnbreaker, which made it hard to spot. And yes, getting on the skiff was a click instead of walking and when you do, there are 3 of you in your group, including Anduin. Hope that was helpful to someone.
Note on the area you are sent to after landing... if you get a fish flopping around, gulping for air and asking to be tossed into the water, follow his entire chain as you do the rest. It will lead to a companion pet.

Description

Darkness has fallen. We can't rest yet. <Faerin gives you a weary smile, but there is a light in her eyes.> The light from the tower will hold the worst dangers in the darkness at bay. It's my duty, as a Lamplighter, to keep all the towers blazing. My patrol takes me to Lorel's Crossing by air next. I would welcome you and Anduin at my side, for all our sakes.
